  1. Although I'm rocking a GTX560Ti now, the GTX260 was the best value purchase I ever made for my PC. Lasted ages and was cheap as chips. Some general rules about buying PCs: Memory nowadays is dirt cheap and is an easy upgrade to do yourself, so don't make memory size a dealbreaker if it's too low. Make _sure_ you're getting a 64 bit OS. Your eyes will love you for a high quality monitor, and you keep the monitor and just upgrade the main unit when the time comes for an upgrade. Similar rules for mouse and keyboard.
  2. As soon as you make it to the Commendations vendor on a new planet, check out the level requirements and stat values. Commendations all the way when the reward isn't an Orange item. As you level up other characters' crafting, the number of actual commendations required for gearing out the current will drop significantly.
  3. You put a shield and a heal over time on the tank and run out of the area... You don't mention which class you play, so it's hard to give you specific advice. I've killed this boss with 2 player DPS and 2 Companion healers. Companions don't move out of "the fire". Additionally on my dps sage I've switched from dpsing to healing and shielding the tank due to dufusery by the healer, though you can't keep it up for a sustained period especially if the tank isn't rotating his cooldowns. He isn't hard by any means, and that big aoe is the only serious threat.
  4. If you have 3 level 50s spend some time with someone else doing the Ilum and Corellia dailies. Boom, 1 million creds per day quite easily. You don't HAVE to have the unlocks, you are not barred from content by not having them. Best purchase I ever made from them was Rocket Boost 1 (massive boost for getting out of an instance you've just cleared). Yes it was pricey. Has it paid for itself? Probably not, but it's close.
  5. With Mists Of Pandaria released this week, it'd be crazy to go up against it. Sites will be giving the coverage to WoW, and the cynicists will compare the two. Wait a week and drop it then.
  6. This may come off as a little obnixious but... READY CHECK? "Jump when ready" is getting OLD and you came across as suprised you didn't have a ready check at the guild summit months and months ago.
  7. 8 months, but we have a release date for it's new set of end game stuff, and it was exactly the same for Wrath into Cata (except they chucked a thrown together raid from recycled content in for that one that went down like a lead balloon). It looks to me as if I'm going back to WoW. Most of my guild have left due to lack of content (they cleared EC:HM months ago). Due to work commitments I couldn't raid with them back then and I can't go with a realistic expectation of making progress there now (just need Vargath and Kephess for the mount) due to lack of decent players. I fully expect TFB to appear on PTS a week before MoP hits, and I suspect it's probably fully tested bug-wise already and numbers just need fine-tuning because they've been holding it back due to a lack of ammunition to go against the other releases that have been coming out recently (GW2 where my guildmates are) and soon.
  8. I was on my tank on Sat evening and spent 2 hours waiting for an Op group (I'd already done Karagga's Palace, so it had to be an EV group). I got one pop that someone dropped out of. The problem is the massive number of dps that are queuing, and the fact that an 8man Op requires exactly the same ratio of players as a 4 man. If they changed the GF raid size to be 16, they would be taking proportionally more dps players out of the queue than the other roles, but unfortunately you can't do that, because the pool of players is too small without cross-server. What they could do (realistically) is make it so that if you queue for an Op as a group (as in 2 or more players) you can switch between 8 and 16 player requested. This allows your 7 man quild run to pick up a tank who hasn't turned up, and do your regular run. If you queue solo, you have to queue for 16. Also, put a punishing timeframe on groupfinder use if you drop out. 1 hour, stacking each time you drop out, with a stack dropping off once per day when the dailies reset.
  9. When looting in Ops too. Do I have that recipe or not? Less than a minute to find out, and roll need/greed/pass on the other half dozen items of loot too.
  10. Lol! Because 8 isn't enough? Not very Star Warsy is it?
  11. I reckon the Voss gear looks better too (my male sage is frankly sick of brown, wedding dresses or a toga), and furthermore I think it has been fixed where the prevous version (white) was actually broken as the Unify Colours used to make other parts blue. I'll actually be rolling with the Voss Mystic Robe (with Black Hole mods) for my chest if it stays the way it is. So much of this game is broken in little ways (see Thousand Papercuts thread) and so many broken promises (frequent content) that its a shame. And I'm with you regarding the Force Wave changes.
  12. Should read: This cannot be used in instances or in combat (24 hour cooldown). Or every FP and Op would consist of 3 (or 7 or 15) players twiddling their thumbs until the stealther had made their way to the final boss. Actually now I think of it... Lost Island Hard Mode...
  13. Real money? I already paid a small fortune for this game, and dual spec would make life much easier. Anyway, the way to 2 dps CTS is to have your healers spaced apart so they won't both be in the same airstrike (as best you can), but close enough together to heal each other. The dps then have to take it in turns to take aggro from the boss. Done it dozens of times with my dps sage. Use the cantina drink that gives +84 Presence, aggro dumps, taunts, stop dpsing, defensive cooldowns, Heroic Moment, Unity.
  14. Maybe player 1 should have considered his options and looked more carefully at what he could have bought. And to be honest, he was going to play those warzones anyway.
  15. This. In addition, I successfully tanked EV SM the same day I dinged 50 (incidentally the same day I dinged 49) on my Vanguard alt. A little bit of foresight, and running dailies with geared buddies for BoE mods all that's required...
  16. Maybe *because* you're doing a solo activity you need to balance it up with some mutliplayer. Star Wars is all about balance. And anyway, Social 3 isn't a lengthy grind, and you should be most of the way there before you get to explore the fleet properly and get the commendations for the gear.
  17. M1-4X simply because his conversations are the best. If you want to go by destuctive power, it all depends on how you've geared those companions. My Nadia would destroy a freshly dinged non-twink level 50 player with ease. Tharan could take a non-healer, but it would take a while (despite him having better gear than Nadia). Zenith only gets Tharan's cast-offs so would get owned. Of all my characters (except the C2-N2s). M1-4X is probably the weakest as he fulfills the same role as my Vanguard tank, but doesn't benefit from my hand-me-downs like Tanno does. Story-wise it could be Nadia, and she's ever so slightly unstable. Male Consulars probably only marry her because the consequences don't bear thinking about :-)
  18. The +10 Datacron does not contribute to the 67. It does not have a Galactic History codex entry attached either.
  19. As far as I'm aware, none of the planets Codexes are complete (for JCs at least). I thought I'd go through and tick some of them off after completing all the datacrons (some of which were inaccessible to my body type without dying and being rezed the other side of a door, or duelling a Vanguard friend and him Harpooning me as I plummet past him). Belsavis is the most complete I've come across (33/34). I tried Tython as it's the first planet and therefore should have had the most bugs reported and fixed. Nope. Ord Mantell... nope. Alderaan (because it's first on the list). Balmorra (because it's second). Taris, because I found I was OP compared to the mobs there, so getting the datacrons were easy, but there are broken codex entries. Thanks for the hint of getting a JK to team with you for the Satelle entry. Anyone know what quest it was?
  20. No, that was Magenta (pink - sorry "Light Red" for Republic). The white crystal should stay out of the game. I went to the trouble of getting it. I'm annoyed that I didn't get the complete Containment Officer set, but I don't believe I should get it, because I didn't earn it. Finally I'd've liked to have got the Cunning Bowcaster for my Smuggler (to rip the barrel off it and then have a weapon to pass mods around with), but just the Aim one will have to do, again because I didn't earn enough tokens. And whoever came up with the bright idea of statless crystals...no no no no no! People turn up for Groupfinder Ops badly geared enough thank you very much! What I would like to see is a trade-in system where my White +41 Power crystal can be traded in for the next step up same colour crystal, or make it an Artificer-made kit. Mats include the crystal's power you require (I'm going to use +75 as an example) and some of the usual Epic crafting materials. It is then traded to the player who wants to use it. They put in their Red +75 crystal, it becomes a "Primed Crystal Kit" and Bound to the player. They can then use that item on any colour crystal they have in their inventory. I'd use it on my white +41 that's been gathering dust because it isn't as good stat-wise as the Red I'd been using. Blam! The White is upgraded to the stats of the Red.
  21. Sage Force Wave has saved my PvE bacon countless times in the past... Completely surrounded by mobs, Force Wave, Force Armour, get a quick Benevolence on. Now I'm much more likely to not survive when things have gone awry, simply because I can't hit all opponents with it, and is no longer an escape spell. Ridiculous, and PvP interfering once again. Why can't it be talented? Force Wave no longer triggers behind you, but is much more powerful in a 120° cone in front of the caster.
  22. People wanting it to drop from solo or Heroic 4 content really ought to thank about their definition of the term Legendary. Even from 5 Flashpoints is totally under-investment for a pay off. Google the quest chains for WoW's Shadowmourne or Tarecgosa's Rest. A LOT of steps making these weapons very special (when they were current items rather than last tier or older), requiring a guild of people working together. That is what Legendary items are about. If anyone could run them after a handful of flashpoints (or less), Iresso would have the Legendary Rifle and Elara would have the Legendary Aim Pistol in less than a week.
  23. They usually have the waistline to match, but Garza doesn't.
  24. If you're queuing for anything with Cunning gear on your Sentinel (the example the previous poster supplied) I don't want to be grouped with you. You won't be clearing Lost Island Hard Mode and I'll be carrying you through Story Mode Ops. Exception: Having a Cunning earpiece (continuing along the Sent line) at level 20 because it's the first ear you've found and it supplies some Endurance is passable (my Qyzen had Strength bracers for ages because Aim one wouldn't drop).
  25. My papercuts: 1. Ready check. Audible Fanfare, "Are you ready?" Dialog box with "Yes" or "No" as an option, and a list of the players' Yes/No/Yet To Click status. The current chat comes up with "Everyone is ready." If anyone clicks "No" or doesn't click (maybe they're afk), it comes up with a dialog summarising the "No"s and the "AFK"s. 30 second time limit. Just like that other game. 2. On my Consular, the sparkly cloudy effect from the free TK Wave proc doesn't appear around his head. I suspect it is due to the shoulder pads on the T/C/R set chests, but it may be due to hats. Currently it appears as a sparkle across his neck. Either way, it needs to be fixed (expand it's radius out a bit, or rectify whatever clipping issue is causing it)... OR... 3. Player Auras. Get a proc? Big icon appears above or around your character for the duration it is available. 4. Fix the crafting dropdown boxes. "Level" should be the default option for sorting. And Biochem's central option box is a hideous mess containing "Ear", "Leg" and other gear slots (only Implant is relevant) and yet no way of filtering only Stims or Adrenals (and I have A LOT of Implant recipes). 5. Prevent people from clicking Need on every item of loot. Consulars have ZERO use for Knight's gear - none of their companions use Strength. And Troopers ONLY use Aim. Neither should be able to Need on Strength gear. You should only get to roll Need on items with your primary stat on (this could also be extended to Tanks only getting to roll Need on Defence/Shield/Absorb relics). 6. A note on why you /ignored someone. There's a note field for friends. Idiot/Bad/Ninja - it would be nice to know why you /ignored the player that guildy X is now moaning about in his FP. 7. In game meters. If you're in a guild group with a similarly geared player who is doing significantly more or less damage than you are, it would help them or you if you knew. At the moment, you can only go on the animations they are using or if they opt in to running SWmoniTOR or MOXParser. Fiddly at best and sometimes really tricky to get to stay on screen. The only people who fear meters are those that can't put out the damage, while the rest of us suffer enrage timers, yet they're also the people who have no way of knowing they're bad without imperical metrics. 8. An API so that the players can fix all this stuff. The addons that are available in WoW can massively change the appearance and functionality of that game (not always for the better though). 9. Dual spec (as the queue times are ridiculous at the moment). 10. 16 player GF Ops. The reason the queue times are ridiculous at the moment is because dps is such a high proportion of the player base and there is no difference between groupfinder flashpoint and operation role ratios - it is 25% tank, 25% healer, 50% dps. Simply making gf Ops 16 player would proportionally take out more dps from the queue, getting them doing something, making queue times shorter. 11. Getting stuck on MUSHROOMS when running through caves... and then having to use the /stuck command. 12. Having to use the /stuck command at all. 13. /Stuck having a cooldown of 2 minutes.
