  1. I seem to remember reading somewhere that SWTOR wasn't fond of running on twin GFX card setups. It didn't like SLI or Crossfire very much. As you have 2 GFX cards I'm guessing you are using the both together. Might be an idea to try running the game using just 1 card, if you can just run it from 1 card. Otherwise your setup looks better than mine and I have no issue in flashpoints or operations, only getting occasional loss of FPS when on the fleet, around the GTN when it is very busy (and I run on max settings at 1920x1080). For comparison purposes, my PC is AMD FX 8350 Black 8 Core 4.0Ghz CPU 16GB RAM Radeon HD 7970 GFX 3Gb Card Normal HDD Drive Windows 7 64bit What FPS are you getting in these laggy sections as compare to non-laggy bits. Press Ctrl+Shift+F to show FPS on screen.
  2. Have updated the signature now, was quite far down on a very long list of things to do. Anyway we are still looking for new members, we are always happy to increase the size of our gaming family as long as you treat us in the same manner that you would like to be treated then you'll fit right in with us.
  3. Here's an idea of how to make PvP fair. All the bad players out there L2P. If everyone was good then it wouldn't be unfair.
  4. 8 Derps vs 2 Premades and it lasted 15mins, must have been 2 terrible premades
  5. Well it is nice to see a new and fresh topic of discussion on these boards Also gratz on posting the same thread twice. I was going to point you to the old Premades are ruining............. thread but it seems to have been deleted. Premades have been, and will continue to be a source of debate in MMOs that allow grouping for PvP. The problem is that there is currently no good way of solving the issue. Sure you could separate grouped and solo players but this would cause as many issues as it solves. Firstly splitting the PvP queue WILL increase queue times for all players, now some people may not have an issue with this and may accept longer queues to get rid of premades, but other will not accept that, which side is in the majority I can not say but if I had to guess I'd say more people would rather have shorter queue times. The other issue with separate queues is that it is impossible to distinguish between a "premade" and a casual group. The former is (at least in SWTOR) a balanced team of 4, with full PvP gear (min/max and augmented ofc) who are using VOIP to co-ordinate there effort. The latter is a group of 2, 3 or 4 mates who simply want to play PvP together, they are not necessarily all in top PvP gear, not necessarily in a balanced team or playing FOTM classes andif they are on VOIP then they are just as likely to be discussing last nights Game of Thrones as they are tactics for the match. To segregate grouped and solo players is to "punish" the casual groups for simply wanting to be social and play together (yes I know it is a strange concept in an MMO ) since you have just increase the odds that they will spend most of there time facing those premades you hate so much. I do not think it is fair that players who simply want to be social should be forced to fight "pug farmers" just so "un-social" players don't have to. As of yet I have not read of a single MMO out there that has solved this problem, sure the Blizzard Devs said they recognized the issue BUT they have never offered a single solution to it. I'd also like to add that half the premades on our server (Red Eclipse) are just terrible and any PuG group with at least half it's players awake can beat them. Sure there are some top notch premades that can flatten almost anyone but these tend to be made up of "good" players, A premade of "bad" players is still made up of 4 "bad" players even if they are a bit more co-ordinated and "Good" PuG should and can overcome them
  6. Wouldn't the best way to solve this debate be to: 1. Start a Parser 2. Spend 5 mins beating up the PvP training dummy in PvP gear 3. Repeat beating up of dummy for 5 mins, this time in PvE gear 4. Compare the results The only inconsistency then will be if on one run you mess up you rotation, so perhaps do it several times for both gear sets to be sure. Unless I am missing something (which is always possible) surely that would resolve the argument over which gives more DPS in PvP
  7. Most likely it is a UI glitch, whenever I inspect other players I never see their OH, it also has a habit of coloring some items (like relics, Implants and earpieces) as greens or blues when in fact they are Purple Underworld or Dreadforged (btw the item description is correct it is just the color). Anyway even if there is a bolster bug I highly doubt it would be worth removing your off-hand, can you imagine a Tank without their shield or a Sentinel or Slinger with only 1 Gun/Saber?
  8. Got my first toon (Guardian Tank) to lvl 50 and went into EV for the first time. After killing SOA someone whispered me saying "cool lightsaber, where'd you get it?" I started to reply that it was the free Black/Yellow I got for pre-ordering the game when FacePalm A lvl 50 Tank doing a Operation with a +7 Endurance Crystal in their saber
  9. I think they should let TeamNINJA handle the breast size and physics from now on. Jiggle Physics + Skimpy Bikini Armor + Guardian Leap =:eek::eek:
  10. OK if you want to throw some dates around then here are a few more. The OPs processor was released in the 2nd Quarter of 2009 and ranked 332 on cpubenchmark.net, my CPU (an AMD FX-6100) is from 2011 (4th Quarter), hardly cutting edge, ranked 232 on cpubenchmark.net, and runs this game fine on max settings including 16 man ops. 2003 Graphics? I think someone needs some new glasses . Sure the game's graphics don't match the HD glory of single player games, but point me to an MMO that does. Over the years I have tried DCU, LoTRO, Rift, GW2, Terra, Neverwinter, WoW, FFXIV ARR, Wildstar Beta and ESO, of those games only 2 have graphics as good as SWTOR, those being FFXIV and ESO. Now if you want 2003 generation graphics go play KOTOR (which was released in 2003), go and play that game or KOTOR 2 (which had some small graphic improvements). Then if you still think SWTOR has 2003 vintage graphics I would recommend you book you self if to have your Cataracts looked at. Oh and congratulations on the poorest troll post in this entire thread, 1/10 (could do much better, but probably won't)
  11. Not sure about point C, I think I'd change it a bit so you can queue for PvP in PvE gear but you can't accept the pop until you switch your gear to full 2018, and once you've accepted the pop you can't switch gear until you leave the WZ. This is mainly so those people who queue up for PvP while doing PvE activities (such as Dailies or leveling) don't have to do PvE content in PvP gear. This would be even more important when you take point D into consideration.
  12. Couldn't agree more, if there is one class in this game than needs a sustained DPS buff more than any other its Shadows/Assassins. It is entirely possible to buff the sustained DPS without pushing the burst to godly levels. Just a question, have you played a stealth class? Try it and then try and avoid a good Commando/Merc, I think you'll find it a lot harder than you imagine. At least Commandos get a stealth scan and some non targeted AOEs, imagine of you were guarding that node as a Sentinel or DPS Guardian, since the 2.7 changes you can't even spam Force Sweep to try and catch the Stelthers.
  13. QFT And isn't it funny how many of those who do stay and rage at everyone else end up bottom of the scoreboard. I would however like to see those people who habitually rage quit every WZ that isn't going to be an easy victory punished in someway (I know that represents only a tiny % of the people who quit WZs). But I do think that it is unfair that someone can keep quitting and re-queuing over and over until they find that illusive easy win. I also like to see some way to prevent rage quitters who re-queue, from reentering the WZ they just quit. I have seen someone quit the WZ then re-join only to insta-quit then rejoin again.
  14. Well if Bolster worked the way it was supposed to (go read the Dev notes on it, there somewhere on these forums) then gear would be like this: Bolstered PvE gear < Tier 1 PvP gear < Tier 2 PvP gear. The gap between PvE gear and the 2 PvP tiers should be high enough to be an incentive to pursue getting the PvP gear but low enough so that players can't simply win PvP on gear difference alone. The current gap between Conqueror and Oberon seems about right so therefore bolster should put PvE gear at about the same amount bellow Tier 1. If the patch notes, dev posts and player reports off the PTS are to be believed then the blue 46 exploit which most people are complaining (rightly) about will be gone. Assuming there isn't another exploit created/discovered, we might find that Bolster actually starts doing the job it was meant to do i.e. allow fresh 55s to compete in Warzones without being a burden to others around them (well at least as far as gear stats go, can't speak for skill level) but the PvP gear is still the better choice.
  15. I really think this could work, it would certainly be easier and cheaper than X-Server. For X-Server they have to invest in developing the software so that servers can talk to each other and work together AND invest in new infrastructure between the servers to carry the massive increase in traffic X-Server would create. With Mega-server they just need to build a new mega server. Also a mega server would improve more than X-Server would. X-Server will decrease waits for regular WZs (although they are not exactly slow in popping right now) provide a bigger pool of teams for Ranked and if a bigger pool of PvE players for the GF queues. A mega server would do all this PLUS increase the number of players for world PvP, increase the number of players for non GF operation groups, heroics or datacron hunts and increase the number of things being crafted and sold on GTN. I only see 2 issues, 1 which servers do you merge and where do you put the new mega servers. Ideally 1 server for the entire game would be best so US, EU and APAC players can all play (this would also help out those who play at odd hours). The problem with this is lag, Place this 1 mega server in the US and EU players will suffer, put it in the EU and US players will moan, heck put it on the West Coast and East Coast players will complain and vice versa if you located it in the east instead. Therefore I think you would have to have at least 3 mega servers, EU, West Coast and East Coast. The 2nd issue is about combining play types (PvE, PvP ect) if you had 3 regional mega servers (see above) and you would have PvP, PvE and RP players all on the same server. If you had 3 mega server separated not my region but my playtype then you're back to the "where to site them" problem, and if you have servers divided both my region and playtype then you have exactly what we have now. I can't see the issues with lag between regions being solved so if you want a mega server setup you would have to combine the playtypes. In that case you need to find a way to accommodate all players needs and wants. I don't think it is impossible, you could for example have it so when you first create a character (or log in for the 1st time after the merge) you are asked to choose a playstyle, this choice is per toon and is fixed, it can only be changed of you pay a large sum of CC per toon (same as paid for server moves). PvP players would be permanently flagged and PvE players could toggle the flag off an on. I would also introduce more PvP areas where you got flagged for entering and introduce rewards for killing enemies of a similare level (say +/- 3 lvls) in open world.
  16. The problem here is the "Big business" mentality that is endemic in EA and all companies of their size. If Bioware had been left alone to do this without EAs big brother watching over them then I suspect we wouldn't be having this debate and X-Server would have been in the game long ago. If you're listening EA just give Bioware the money, stop telling them how and where to spend it! Too many games recently from great publishers have suffered due to a big corporate not simply sitting back and letting the people who know what they're doing get on with things, from EAs own stable of games look at DA2 and C&C 4, great franchises damaged (in C&Cs case all most destroyed) by corporate greed. Essentially what is going on here is that someone at EA has a spreadsheet, and on that spreadsheet is a little equation. Every time someone comes up with an idea they feed how much that idea will cost into this formula to see how much return they get for their investment, if they don;t get enough dollars back for every dollar they invest the Devs can lobby till they're blue in the face and it will never happen That is why X-Server hasn't and isn't happening . The problem is that while is is a great idea it really only affects the ranked PvP in this game (regular WZs are still popping with great regularity) and that is such a small section of the player-base that it fails to meet the spreadsheet's requirement. In fact even if you could guarantee that every PvP player would benefit from X-Server, I still doubt it would meet the investment/return requirement. The simple truth is X-Server will require a lot of up-front investment and development, both in software and hardware. No one at EA (or at least their accounting department) thinks they will get enough $'s back for every $ they invest to even put it on the "Wall of Crazy". Bioware runs SWTOR > EA runs Bioware > Accountants run EA > MS Excel runs accountants > Life sucks for PvP
  17. And this adds to the quality of the debate how? I guess we'll have more Wildstar fanboys here after the ESO fans leave (assuming they do ofc ). Despite being a PvE server, Red Eclipse seems quite good for regular Warzones (ranked is dead ofc). Regular pops, lots of people around at peak times and the sides seem reasonably balanced with both good and bad players on both factions, win ratio over the course of a week between Imp and Pub in my experience is about 50/50. Also the community in general is pretty friendly
  18. OK then please enlighten us oh divine one by what measure do you judge this game as being dead? Number of players? Number of GF pops for flashpoints? Number of pops for PvP? Number of fleet instances? Number of people on fleet? Number of groups running operations? Because if you use any of those factors are a yardstick by which to judge the health of this game then it is most defiantly alive and well. I know what a dead server feels like, I remember back before the first server merge, I was stuck on a dead server, Ludo Kresh, where you were lucky if there were more than 50 people online (that's across both factions) at peak times, often I was the only one on the fleet's single instance, now that was dead and Red Eclipse is nothing like that at all. The only figures that remotely suggest this game is dead is the number of doom mongers on these forums. I am not asking you to like the game, I'm not asking you to stay, I just hate it when people try and destroy something other people enjoy simply because they don't anymore. Oh I know exactly what type of poster he is I just felt like fishing for t*****
  19. Well you can be an asteroid if you want instead http://www.swtor.com/info/news/news-article/20140401
  20. Keep telling yourself that and eventually maybe you will start to believe it.
  21. Would defiantly allow the attacker to pick up the canister up after killing the carrier. More incentive for people to actually go looking for kills and more reason for Tanks to guard the carriers and healers to heal them.
  22. Also read people complain that the combat is clunky, but that may have been the earlier Beta versions (when apparently the graphics sucked as well). So no I doubt ESO or Wildstar will kill ToR, just as GW2 didn't and just as ToR didn't kill WoW.
  23. I remember that, actually had people on the fleet chat for the next few days asking when the Hutt mount was coming out. They seemed so disappointed when they found out it was a joke
  24. DCU plays better on the PS4 than it does on PC, the controls work that much better (but it may have been designed as a console game first and then adapted into a PC game). Both FFXIV and ESO will be (or are already) on consoles. I think the main roadblock to MMOs on Consoles is the number of commands needed, the 20+ moves each character gets in ToR is pushing it a bit for a console controller to cope with but I can imagine a game like GW2 with it's far simpler command system working on a PS or Xbox
  25. Been thinking it over and one way to prevent turtling would be to put a short timer on the ball so if are still holding the ball when the timer hits 0 it blows up taking you and anyone in a 4m radius with you, after which it resets to the middle. The countdown would be reset everytime you passed the ball, so a team would continue to gain points as long as they held the ball but 1 single player couldn't hold it indefinitely. Also to prevent two players just passing the ball back and forth, once you have thrown the ball you gain a debuff meaning you can't carry it again for a short period. Also in order to mix things up a little you could have it so the timer on the ball is random, say between 10 and 20 seconds, you don;t know how long you can hold it until you catch the ball, also the only one who can see the timer IS the ball carrier which makes it harder for allies and foes to predict when you will pass the ball. To find the answer go to the first post and check the date, if it isn't April 1st then this isn't an April fools joke, or is that to sensible for some people
