  1. That was exactly the issue I was having, and this fixed it. Thank you!
  2. Eh. I started playing at launch, then left for about a year and came back and realized I had no clue whatsoever how to play my chosen character (Jedi Sentinel). So I made a new one, from scratch, and leveled him to max (50 at the time, IIRC). Left again. Came back again. Was again completely clueless on how to play the Sentinel, so I made another. Leveled him to max (55, maybe 60?). Decided to play a few other classes, finished all the other class quests. Left. Came back again. Yet again, completely clueless on how to play the Sentinel, made another, decided to go PvP. Joined a great guild that was really, amazingly helpful. Leveled him and a couple other characters to 70. Still sucked ***. Left. Came back again, just a few days ago. You guessed it; I still suck with the Sentinel. I have 8 Sentinel alts across two servers, and I'm perpetually doomed to never get significantly better. I'm actually not half bad with the stealth classes or with an Imperial Agent, but to me, Star Wars is all about the Jedi and definitely the Sentinel, because hey... two lightsabers. So... to answer your question, I'm working on not sucking as much at playing a Sentinel. Being a ******* helps with the longevity of that particular quest.
  3. Thanks for all the tips, guys. My two biggest problems are that I hate to suck and even more than that I hate being a drain on the rest of the team, which is a large part of the reason I've created the new toon and gone back to lowbie PvP when I have toons at 70. I was also wondering about pre-70 pops, as they don't seem to occur terribly often. One follow up question I do have, though: With regards to this comment, where do you get the schematics for anything over 228? Veteran and master-level operations, I'm guessing?
  4. Returning player here, with a combat sentinel I want to level strictly via PvP. Mostly did solo PvE in the past, with a little bit of PvP (and I was never very good). I'd like to get back into PvP again and actually get better, but I have perpetually sucked *** and figured this time I would ask if anyone can recommend some overall strategies on the subject. At the moment, my goal is to take a level 14 sent, straight from Tython, and level him strictly via PvP. I have multiple other alts at 70, including another combat sent at level 43 on the command rank side, but I get absolutely destroyed at 70 and would like a lot of practice before getting to the end game PvP stuff. Any ideas?
  5. Just on the PvP side of things, I'd say you'll be hitting the wall each time you enter a new bracket (especially 60, unless you've stacked a lot of sabers/whatever and can purchase a full set of Exhumed gear or better immediately). Also, depending on the server you join and what times you play, queue times can be fairly lengthy. Playing Pub on Pot5 (for the most part), I've seen queue times of 30 minutes or longer, while there are other times when I simply don't queue at all because I know I won't get a pop. Also, leveling strictly via PvP can take an extremely long time. At one point, I decided to try leveling a toon strictly via PvP while a guildmate created a brand new toon. IIRC, I made it from 32 to 45 (or thereabouts) in the same time period where he went from 1-60. Be prepared for that. And of course, I would normally say that making sure you understand bolster is obvious, but it's rather surprising how many people don't (and who nerf themselves and their teams quite a bit as a result).
  6. Yep, by getting rid of the PvP players. We were taking up too much server space, so they gotta have more room for PvE players.
  7. So... I'm kinda curious what exactly it is that we've done to you, Eric, to make you hate us so much? This feels like a big old middle finger shoved right in our face, saying "Screw you, you PvP losers. We hate you, now go away." This isn't to the same scale as SOE's NGE from SWG, but this honestly comes across as you trying to follow the example of John Smedley.
  8. Um, actually... no. As long as you're over 14, you can stack sabers. That beats all other options, as long as you're willing to put in the work.
  9. Of all the suggestions I've seen here, I think this is one of the best ones yet. Not that I'm saying it beats out cross-server queue, but I have to imagine this would be one of the easiest changes to make and also go a long way towards mitigating player frustration when four melee DPS queue against two DPS, a healer, and a tank. You should post this as a suggestion thread all on its own.
  10. Might want to think that through before you do it, though. Warzone coms are a bit slower to gain and harder to get hold of than basic coms. Plus, if you have any interest in upgrading your PvP gear, you'll need those WZ coms.
  11. Of course, having said what I previously said, I do think it would be awesome to have something like this show up and actually kick someone when they cap a node and then run when they see enemies incoming. Problem is, these bozos always seem to travel in packs and I think it'd be more likely they'd kick the guy trying to kick them (who likely actually cares about winning). I'd actually be happy to take the loss if it meant one of these selfish idiots got kicked and got the "Hey, the majority of the people in that warzone thought you were an idiot" message. Of course, these guys seem to excel in self-delusion, so I'm guessing not even that would work.
  12. There's another problem with this no one's mentioned yet. In an operation or flashpoint, you have the time to stop and consider whether to kick someone. When exactly would you be able to hold a vote to kick a player from a warzone? Before the match starts, you wouldn't necessarily know about the douche in question. Only if you had enough people in a match who loaded up and recognized said douche ahead of time would this work, and then you'd be depending on a backfill to come in and not leave you gimped with a 7v8 match or (worse) a 3v4 arena. During the match, everyone's way too busy (or at least they should be) to vote. Even if you somehow, miraculously, got enough people to agree to kick someone, I could easily see this taking 5-10 seconds. In WZ PvP, that's an eternity and could easily lead to a loss. Plus, of course, you're again stuck waiting for a backfill in the event the vote passed. You would also depend on players to actually pay attention to the chat to have an idea as to why they might want to kick the player. Between stages of ACW would be about the only time I could see this being doable but, as Icykill mentioned, I think that's already there. All this being said, I support the idea behind what you're talking about and I share your frustration as well, but a vote kick would be the wrong way to go about this. Personally, I would love to see some kind of /ignore option, similar to what you see in PvE contents, but it would seem Bioware thinks the PvP population couldn't handle that. Then too, I'm kinda conflicted on that idea as well, since you might not want to always ignore certain players. If a guy is legitimately brand new to PvP or just doesn't know how to bolster at all but is otherwise skilled and willing to learn, you could easily be missing out on someone who will be much better later on. When all is said and done, I'd love to see a PvP/ranked ladder system that does the following: Only matches you with players at a similar skill level Attempts to match team configurations (i.e., none of this 4 DPS v 2 DPS, one tank, and one healer nonsense) Allows you to /ignore players (hopefully people would only ignore rude jerks, knowing they'd move up the ladder and avoid the laughably bad players, or that said players would get better) Has a cross server queue Takes more things into account when determining skill level, as opposed to mainly just DPS or HPS; in other words, not promoting the YOLO DPS clown who doesn't care one bit about teamwork, but always tops the charts. Of course, the problem with that is you'd need a LOT more players in PvP to make that happen (like a couple orders of magnitude, at the least). When you have a hard time even getting eight people to queue at times, this kind of system is nothing more than a pipe dream.
  13. From the perspective of a Sentinel who relies on LOS quite often: HELL NO. (Edit: Try playing a melee DPS class for a while, then see if you feel the same way.)
