  1. Hi, everybody! I frequented this thread a little ways back before my subscription lapsed. I’m far too daunted to comprehensively catch up but I went back a couple of pages to wet my toes. Comments:
  2. Just found this today and I'm loving it. Very well written. Love Scourge's characterization, love Balkar's characterization (some habits straight from a college bachelor!), love Crysta's characterization, love Liatrix's characterization. Very much liked the things about the Sith attitude towards fire. Very much liked Doc's lashing out. This is really, really good.
  3. Wow! I just found this thread today. Love it. Very good, natural prose, believable dialogue, action balanced between stuff that's happening and reactions the participants are having, and tension never getting disruptive to the narrative flow even if it may be disruptive to those experiencing it Keep it up! I've been around the fic block more than a few times and this has got to be one of my favorite images yet.
  4. Georgeous, kabe! It's been a pleasure to see all the wonderful and expressive drawings you've done over the last two (!) years.
  5. All part of Dorne's evil plan to........be a really good soldier for the right side. Monster.
  6. A little piece! This is in part my apology for messing up Yuun's speech patterns in my earlier pieces. A Gand who is shamed or who screwed something up will retreat from using their name and instead will use "This Gand." It is possible for the Trooper to trigger this at certain points in game, but that's beside the point... On THURSDAYS, FCD is staffed by T7-01 and LORD SCOURGE. BABY KALIYO: Hey. Bugboy. BABY YUUN and BABY VECTOR: Yes? BABY KALIYO: ...Well, that was offputting. BABY YUUN: Yuun did not mean to cause confusion. BABY VECTOR: We did not mean to interfere. BABY KALIYO: Does anyone around here use normal pronouns? BABY GUSS: I do! BABY KALIYO: Quiet, Fishboy. Anyway, I was talking to Bu--Vector. BABY YUUN, contritely: This Gand apologizes for the mistake. BABY KALIYO: Agh! Stop with the name changes! BABY VECTOR, diplomatically: What were you going to ask? BABY KALIYO: I forget. I'm too freaked out now. BABY KALIYO starts walking away. BABY KALIYO: Hey, Fishboy, want to play a game? BABY VECTOR, watching them go: That can't end well. BABY YUUN: Signs point to one thing. BABY VECTOR: What's that? BABY YUUN: Yuun has accidentally found a way to get on Kaliyo's nerves.
  7. Ladies, gentlebeings, girls, boys, and droids! I find myself subscribing, for a little longer anyway, and so have the power to post. And for the first time in a very long time, Daycare came knocking. Here, two little one-offs. (Don’t fear, newcomers, FCD is purely episodic and requires no thread background.) // First, in honor of Trooper team spirit: // On TUESDAYS, FCD is staffed by KHEM VAL and LORD SCOURGE. BABY KALIYO: Hey! Hey, Elara! Is there a form you can fill out for being a big dummyface? BABY SKADGE: I think she ran out of those this morning! BABY ELARA toddles away with all the dignity she can manage and sits down by the bookshelf. BABY JORGAN: These guys just aren't letting up today. You okay? BABY ELARA: It's quite all right. I'll file an MF-13 report with Mister Lord Scourge before I leave today. BABY JORGAN: We have numbered reports for being mean? BABY ELARA: Several, depending on severity and general subject matter. BABY JORGAN: What I mean is, this daycare has numbered reports for that kind of thing? BABY ELARA: ...I print and number them myself. It'll improve efficiency once the system is universally adopted. BABY JORGAN: Well, I can't argue with your organizational skills. Hey, want to go build a Senate building out of blocks? BABY ELARA perks up. BABY ELARA: Can we construct it to satisfy Block Building Codes 2F through 2K? BABY JORGAN: Uh...if it makes you happy, sure. We could send the leftover materials back Skadge's way at high speed if you want. BABY ELARA: Jorgan! I would have to report myself! Also you. BABY JORGAN: Just an idea. /// Then, in honor of, uh, stuff: /// On WEDNESDAYS, FCD is staffed by T7-01 and SCORPIO. T7-01: Daycare = in session // children = in order BABY RUSK: After so much time off I calculate I should be able to learn twice as fast. BABY ASHARA: That's almost certainly not how it works. SCORPIO: You'd be surprised. BABY RUSK: All right, Miss SCORPIO, sir. What's the assignment? SCORPIO: I wish to test your purported enhanced learning capability. Please organize a charge against the Imperials. T7-01: Forced Companions = neutral territory // Republic + Imperial fights = no-no SCORPIO: It is a purely educational exercise. While the test is conducted, perhaps you should check the roof dish for comms capability. I believe it cut out this morning. T7-01: T7 = check it out // dish = must be fixed T7-01 rolls out. SCORPIO: Now. In order to avoid the appearance of favoritism we can put Ashara on the Republic side so it looks more like a randomly selected pairing. BABY ASHARA: Wait, really? BABY PIERCE: Hey. Fuzzball. 'Pubs are rounding up for a fight. BABY BROONMARK: Blllorp. BABY PIERCE: We've got this. BABY RUSK: Master Jedi, sir. BABY ASHARA: Is that me? Wow! That's me! BABY RUSK: Permission to deploy stuffed animal squad as described here, sir. BABY RUSK gestures toward the outward-facing arc of fierce-looking or just fuzzy stuffed animals. BABY ASHARA: Sure? That looks very military. Hey, when do we start figh- BABY PIERCE rockets out of nowhere to tackle BABY ASHARA. BABY RUSK: Master Jedi! BABY ASHARA and BABY RUSK get down to ferocious combat with BABY PIERCE. BABY BROONMARK shuffles over to the far end of the stuffed animal collection. BABY BROONMARK: Blllorp. BABY BROONMARK whisks the nearest animal into his voluminous fur and shuffles to the next. BABY PIERCE: For the Empire! Ha! - Ow! BABY ASHARA: For the - uh - BABY RUSK: Republic! BABY ASHARA: Yeah! BABY BROONMARK continues shuffling from stuffed animal to stuffed animal, stowing them all in his fur. BABY ASHARA manages a respectable little burst of Force energy. BABY RUSK: Take that! BABY PIERCE goes down and lies in a grumbling heap. BABY PIERCE: Jedi cheat. BABY BROONMARK: Raaargh! BABY RUSK whirls and sees the clear field where his stuffed animals had been. BABY RUSK: My squad! No! BABY BROONMARK: Blllorp. BABY RUSK: Fall back, Master Jedi! I'll cover your retreat! BABY BROONMARK shuffles up to BABY RUSK. A tiny fist emerges from the hairball and connects with his montral. BABY BROONMARK follows this up with several kicks while BABY RUSK yelps and ineffectually swings his toy vibrosword, the weapon he has used ever since toy blasters were banned. Eventually BABY BROONMARK gets bored and shuffles away. BABY RUSK, muzzily: Are you all right, Master Jedi? BABY ASHARA, from a safe distance: Yes. BABY RUSK: Reporting eighty-seven point five percent casualties, sir. SCORPIO looks down at BABY RUSK. SCORPIO: It seems that despite your considerable rest, you do not learn any faster. BABY RUSK, sullenly: As you say, Miss SCORPIO, sir.

  9. AAAAAHHHHH AAAAAHHHHH *bites on something to keep from screaming* *continues screaming* *...in a good way*
  10. And...*whew*...I guess now is as good a time as any, and please forgive the ego trip implicit in it, to announce that I'll be letting my subscription lapse and retiring from the forums. I have a couple of weeks to hang around, then it shuts off and I'm down to lurking. Striges has graciously accepted the role of Primary Prompt Giver, so that's settled. The SFC has been my main reason to stay with the game for at least half my tenure here. The community creates the story content I crave in abundance, with a wealth of imaginations taking things in new directions in ways both poignant and hilarious. It's been a pleasure to read and write with all of you. In recognition of our long and prolific history, I offer one more spoiler-free Goodbye featuring the first OC ever to appear on this thread, and in all likelihood bracketing the mission he was called to then (in the index it should go last, regardless of chronology): Thanks for a great 1 3/4 years, and keep on writing!
  11. I'm so glad you folks enjoyed the stats! Now I have a barrel o' comments.
  12. I remember a long time ago we wondered whether this thread was going to get closed at 1000 posts. Joke’s on us…now we have not only 4691 posts, but as of Allronix’s “A Jar of Trouble”, 2000 stories. And that means it’s time for a stats post! (Our previous milestones were at 500, 1000, and 1500 stories.) 72 authors, of whom 56 are repeat contributors, have joined in the fun, generating in total 3.17 stories per day, adding up to a whopping 1,888,871 words. By volume that's equivalent to the entire Harry Potter series, the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the entire Hunger Games trilogy. Longest: The longest outside a series is Ereiniel’s Teachers and Heroes at 5676 words. The longest multi-post story is DarthSillyMonkey's The Fenn’rys Jobs, which weighs in at 40219 words. Shortest: irishfino's There's No Off Switch with Aldrdinar. Unless you're counting Nalenne's single-word contribution to bright_ephemera's four-part Tauntaun Roundup. The Old Faithful Club: Striges and kabeone have posted at least one story per month ever since the SFC was founded! Story Counts: Classes: OCs (Original Characters): Locations: NPCs: Hookups: And that’s what we look like at 2000 stories. Write on!
  13. This fills in a sort of gap in an old storyline, with Ruth and letters and so on and so forth. Between Discoveries 2 and Ceremonies chronologically. So, Love Letters and Secret Valentines. It talks around a Sith Warrior spoiler, no names or specifics given.
  14. It's not uncommon for humans in this era to live past 100. Compared with that 60-70 is...respectable, but not long.
  15. ? (Warrior spoiler) I would pay silly amounts of money to be able to "recall"/re-explore class quest scenes. Just exploring Agent dialogue trees could be hours of replayability.
  16. Comments, with a witty introduction to be inserted here!
  17. Sorta kinda Love Letters with Colran and Dolarra Niral, filtered through Ruth, who is currently at odds with Quinn. Indirect Sith Warrior spoiler. 600ish words. Happens after the recent Boring Conversation Anyway and during/after Discoveries 2.
  18. I came up with a Boring Conversation Anyway for Ruth, set during her reconciliation process with Quinn fifteen years after the class line. I guess it comes after Nightmares and before the second half of As Time Goes By; it's closer to the former than the latter. 800 words, that Sith Warrior spoiler. Notes, Sith Warrior Act 3 spoilers:
  19. Comments (author alphabetical order, going back a couple of dozen posts)...
  20. Very quick note - DarthSillyMonkey, A-77 is set between Belsavis and Voss, which is a waypoint I think only two classes have, which is why nobody ever knows how to spoiler tag it. So, uh, now we know!
  21. Week of 2/7/2014 Achilles' Heel - Our characters are powerful combatants, talented tacticians, clever diplomats and all-around legendary figures. However, everybody has that one "thing" that gets to them, that hurts them, or that proves their vulnerability in some way. A fear of heights... a particularly sensitive spot or old injury... an intolerance for bright sunlight... an irrationally severe dislike of womp-rats... what's the one thing that gets to your character, even on a good day? Prompt courtesy of TrystanLaryssa. And, as ever, Night of the Living Prompt: Keep on using any prompt you like! Check out the list at http://www.swtor.com/community/showpost.php?p=5223753&postcount=1675. This week's featured NotLP: Teachers and Heroes - Everyone has someone they look up to, or someone who's taught them something important. Or a hero that they strive to be like. Who does your character admire and look toward when they're not sure what to do? Who has had an impact on making them the person they are today?
  22. Okay, Valyn had me laughing. And I never thought of Forex as suitable for Alderaanian nobles, but they both sure are bombastic enough...
  23. I agree, the female Sith Warrior is miserably starved for sex. You'd think FimmRess on Alderaan or Lord Draahg when you meet him or, well, somebody, but no. For what it's worth, a) Quinn does a brilliant job of pretending not to care when you get your one chance to hit on somebody else in front of him; he gives zero affection loss and everything, and b) you don't have to coerce Quinn. He'll come around in time. It just leaves the lady Sith Warrior as more of a space nun than the Consular for Acts 1-2.
