  1. that's is exactly what I am trying to say some people have fun that is not = winning (fun is more important than winning) the only thing more important than fun is a reward (well maybe not for a few people that played that much as that poster and they probably have all maxed for those people RANKED should be the goal) The reward is really the instrument that if used correctly may help people to play it the right way and make it "more fun" for everybody. Because "personal fun" very often is not equal "everybody fun" actually sometimes if you stretch your personal fun to extreme you can ruin other people fun and mmo are a balance of people interaction and fun. balance can be helped by some good reward (rewarding activity that are less fun, like guarding objective, but necessary for everybody's best experience and enjoyable match) that drives people toward a common good.
  2. ^_^ told you trixxie, people don't like to "remove" feat. I am all for objective honestly, but I can tell what people want and how they play even when they play differently from me, I understand people have different tastes and why... In my guild (is not mine as in leadership, the guild I am in, a PVP focus guild) 50% of the people ignore objective and laugh at it on discord sometimes they actually say (even before the match start): " **** it today I am in for the kills/dps. I just want to have fun" it is obvious that fun is not = winning and I agree winning is not necessary to have fun i enjoy some match very intense even if I lose at the end, but that explains why people favor fun(killing no objective) over winning So I can be objective about it, I would never play for the kills my main is actually a tank and my build is always tailored toward objective rather than dps so I naturally prefer to play objectives but the only way to fix this is to make objective worthwhile. Now they are worthless other than saying "I won" at the end some high dps from the losing team often brag more (and get much more votes) than the winner with lower dps that spent 10 minutes guarding and doing nothing.... this is symptomatic of how bad this reward system is.
  3. I am all for removing those healing and protection (all 3 to be fair) but people will cry "removing" is always hard to do in MMORPG games people feel they own the game and have right on it. But yes I would be happy with removing those 3 (or as I said show only your own) but if they do you would see 10000 thread about people complaining that never been on the forum before. (because let's face it forum show only 0.1% of real players)
  4. yeah i thought you meant that way i know most of people sort by dps the second the scoreboard pop so it wouldn't change much as i said one click to switch order to DPS you should just lock the scoreboard than on objective so it's slightly harder to read the dps in order that would solve maybe 50% of the problem because some people just ignore objective because is not fun for them and is more fun to just kill stuff they don't even care about dps all they care is to be pvp 15 minutes after waiting 15-20 minutes in a queue (rather than wait 5 minutes at objective with nothing happening) unless you reward objective much more and winning much more people won't change much
  5. you know one click is enough to resort the scoreboard, that is an easy request for sure but really you can do it in one click hide damage/healing/protection except your own (just to give yourself an idea of how you have done compared to other times), and give an extra reward based on objective's points. leave medals for bragging its a mixed-bag some class has access to more medals than other anyway so it doesn't really mean much but kiddos need to brag! (you can keep dead and kills nobody seems to care anyway) That would be more interesting (BTW they rarely read pvp forum I would advise posting this in the suggestion subforum)

As I tried to explain already people here (especially the one that think win = fun) don't even try to understand the other side that's why nothing will ever change some people fun mean to fight fare fight no matter from result and fun is more important than a win sometimes doing objective is really boring and give you NO REWARD WHATSOEVER to do something boring while playing = why should i do it but people here keep preaching about win bla bla bla pvp win is the reward **** that the reward when i play a videogame is to have fun win or lose doesn't matter if i enjoy what i am doing but too many people only want to see their side I see both side and i think i understand why some peopel don't want to do objective and don't care about win because there are flow in the system especially in the reward but okay keep thinking that people that don't care to win and just like to have fun are idiots it will just be worst for you becuae they will keep play the way the find it fun and you will still complain and get mad because they don't do objective so instead of fix situation your stubbornness makes it worst

I always play the objective so you presuming that I don't is part of the problem I play objective but I can see why people don't and can analyze it differently than you that just say people are dumb I can come up with a lot of reason why people do that and honestly, they are as reasonable as yours "I play to win" true pvp ROAR play to win those idiots dps braggers <very mature reasons that you seem don't want to accept but that are real for many! once you get off your horse "people sux" and stop looking down from your ivory tower of "TRUE PVPER" and accept that people do that for a good reason (actually 4 as i mentioned) maybe we can try to change it (starting with the reward!) otherwise keep thinking you are better nobler more focused than other people if that is what makes you hard to them is dps that make them hard I don't see any difference between yours and their attitude. Lack of understanding of another way of play that is different than what you think is right is part of the problem

I don't think the reason is that the maps are bad as I said in the other post the reason are others 1) sit at objective if the enemy ignore it is boring and is worth to do only if winning means something 2) trying to cap or do objective take away from DPS and fight per se dps and fight show on the scoreboard and give you bragging right in the mind of people (bigger dps number bigger heal number) and winning means nothing so why bother (for example when I defend objective alone and nobody steal it as I fend off the 2 or 3 that come to try... I end up with a pathetic score and nobody even bothers to give me a medal! they practically won because I guarded and got bored for 7 out of the 10 min! BUT NOBODY CARE - NOT ONE MEDAL) 3) overall fighting is the same in all minigame while minigame tactic is different every type of game why people would bother to learn 6-7 different tactics and rotation when winning mean absolutely nothing and give you no gear or anything at all they go for the fun part just learn to fight (1-2 rotation at best) and jump in the middle. Plus if you do objective you need to listen to people preaching you when you mess up or when you do something different then "their way". Self-proclaimed expert in the field that has to tell you what to do, their way! and get mad if you don't do as they say often leave halfway so there is really no point in listening to them. so to recap 1) some objective can be boring and people that waited 5-15 min to pop want to fight and have fun (not wait other 5-10 min at objective) 2) people like to see concrete result/number at end of match DPS is easy to compare defending/objective won't really show up on scoreboard (you get more medal fighting and ignoring objective most of the time) 3) it's easier to ignore cap and people want to do easier stuff not being told what to do by strangers LAST BUT NOT LEAST 4) WIN MEAN NOTHING no reward no gear no material N O T H I N G so why bother just have fun! (and for most pvper "have fun = fight" not "wait at an objective or follow orders from a jerk") it would be different if winning gives you material/gear or even cartel coins then people would actually care to win
  9. its a tactic they force people into pve to get gear so then they have the numbers to justify their lazyness in pvp they will say: "you see lot more people do pve (yep you force them to!) so we should focus on it" (in reality because is easier/cheaper to code and fix) and when someone says... but PVP... they just show "THE NUMBERS" not worth bother with pvp nobody does it... of course not you toke out any reason to do it in the first place!

    some sports are based on how to address the factor outside of competitors control: sailing for instance you don't control the wind nor the waves. cycling not only weather wind but on many days run like tour France, there is the variable of your own health or the luck factor and what happens if while you running away you blow a tire you suck it up! And let's face it those people spend their life preparing and they don't complain nearly as much as people here that at best waste a few hours there is no "real" reward they don't earn money from it

    honestly, if they care so little about PVP why don't they do an on-line vote (send an in-game email to everybody to vote) and let us decide what to do with it for real give up the 5/6 option that they can easily implement and just do whatever the "people" will want this list is just an example they will have to come up with a list easy to implement a) boost by a lot reward in ranked (after banning people that trade win) and leave everything as is b) Make Arena Ranked group only - and bring back objective Ranked for solo (maybe lower team to 6 players 3+3) c) remove ranked and add a decent reward to normal PVP ALL in one line d) remove ranked and divide PVP into objective (mixed) and arena (group only) two lines e) remove ranked and divide PVP into 3 lines objective (mixed) arena (solo) arena (group)
  12. or the one that can understand other people post nowhere in there I said it is how I play or it is the RIGHT way I just say this is what people do because A/B/C if you can't admit that happens and I am not saying I am doing it or I agree with it you are blind or just not that open to accept the reality. If you were open to accepting the reality you could process what is happening and why and you could try to solve it. But obviously it is too much for you. dear lord so many people have no clue in this game and then we wonder why it's all going wrong, everybody seems to play with eyes closed or like the horses with blinds on the peripherical view all they can see and think is their way.

  14. I know it's a generalization but I see you get the point! On the other hand, the other one that keeps writing over and over some belives that are not facts and not true for most of the people just because they are true for her, she totally misses the point! You have to accept people how they are and if you want to change them. FIRST, you have to accept and understand what they like and why they like it (and this guy just did! read his post I quoted BIG number better than win prove themselves not boring waiting adrenaline all the stuff I highlighted as well ) Then try to make a small change to drive them toward a different playstyle and let them change themselves! (change to scoreboard would cut half of their current reason to ignore objective and a better-weighted reward will seal the deal) Telling them to listen to you because they will have more fun if they do as you say... NOBODY will listen.

I told you what it is happening and why it is happening (i didn't say it is a good thing, a bad thing, a right thing or wrong! I stated the fact as I see them). You can take it, ignore it, twist it, turn it, or convince yourself is not true I really don't care. Fact is to play dps just for dps sake in an objective match is (especially if you join SOLO) A) EASIER B) give you BRAGGING RIGHTS C) usually MORE FUN / MORE ACTION-PACKED (especially good if you waited for a pop for 30 min and not in the mood to wait at a cap area that MAY or MAY NOT be attacked) Nobody and I mean really nobody cares about winning/losing reward is insignificant with a very long wait (terrible terrible terrible reward/time invested). Nobody that join PVP does it for the winning reward so nobody really cares to win You can't change how easy it is you can't change the fun factor but you can try to fix and remove the bragging right (that is actually quite important for those people) this may probably push people to change, hopefully. All your bla bla bla and your tears or whine or forum complain/preaching won't change one soul really.

  17. that's a pro skill if we pretend people even care about others we lost it from the start! I don't even bother to reach that level of sophistication. I just take an example of 2 single-minded players only care about their own fun and their playstyle and bragging right (more or less 90% of players) Teamwork is a skill that really comes in play only for 5%-10% of players nowadays so there is no point in expecting it

I think it is quite easy to explain if you add up all the reason: A) DIFFICULTY to do DPS each class as a guide and is relatively easy to follow instruction, ultimately is more or less always those couple of rotation two offensive and two defensives over and over (rarely really matter who your enemy or where you are! Just use the right rotation, and the right gear is all written down) Vs there are guides for warzone, but each warzone is different. They depend a lot from the enemy as well. You will need to have an awareness of surrounding counting people in your area react differently depending on what your team is going to do and locate them at all times looking in the map. Plus, you will need to learn other skills other than just doing DPS (carry the ball, team play, defending, stalling, ambushing, that's a lot of rotations to remember!) B)REWARD/RECOGNITION at the end of the match, you have a number that tells you how much DPS you did. It is easy enough for you to understand and easy enough for others to see! You can brag with others even when you lose. You never feel you lost. You did the biggest number! Vs You may have low DPS low kill and have made a perfect game defending, practically you may have been the one that saved the match, or that made your team win, but there will be nothing to show for! and nobody will know! Can't brag really. C)ENTERTAINMENT Dps you are in the center of the action for the all-time die and run back always doing something. vs Slow action objective (even if more meaningful) there is a lot of running around positioning yourself strategically and waiting but usually much much less action and very compressed in few heavy moments (easier to screw up and feel useless) Add A+B+C = easy to learn and execute + rewarding as personal fame (people remember names of big DPS), recognition by others/bragging rights + fun overall, much more active, less waiting, and "wasting" time running around. Why would anybody try to do something HARDER that gives you no way of a realistic understanding of your performance? It won't show to your team that you did well nor that you know your class and ultimately may force you to wait and do close to nothing for 3-4 minutes at a time or to run around doing very little for 1-2 minutes? Are we really asking why people ignore Objectives?

I am tempted to leave but I never really do if I join solo because if you join solo you know you may fight premade it doesn't really matter the warzone or who is with you even if my team is really bad or they totally ignore objective I just try to do the best I can with the people I am group together, a sort of "extreme training" when I join as a group I just follow whatever the others do, some people really hate some wz (huttball in particular) so if someone of the group says he doesn't want to do it we all drop it, I wouldn't want to force him to do something he hates. I see how certain warzone caters to certain classes more than others and some objects are easier for some class but if you enter with the mindset of improving yourself no matter the odds even if your team is bad and the enemy is premade and you don't like the warzone those are all good reason to try harder and see what you can accomplish and you know it will be real "your" accomplishment (as the team is bad!)... at least this is how I justify staying even in the worst of the game!

  21. I really think there is no black and white answer it depends on the situation even the same warzone can be completely different every time. I don't think anybody should rule out this is always wrong this is what you should do because is "always" better Ultimately is a game if he likes to annoy keep the pressure on the 3rd node let him do it. Maybe It's not the best strategy at that moment and maybe it makes you win you will never really know. the fact that defending would be 60% more probably to win doesn't discard the 40% remaining and in a videogame where no life is in real danger just do whatever you enjoy doing as long, you don't start yelling to the other in chat that they sux or they are noobs I think we should always do what is fun while being friendly and without insulting.

I agree solo ranked forced all the characters to be "strong" before we could have utility character not good in dps but having special utility for objective "range" "stun" "debuff" with arena everybody needs a bit of everything otherwise is just unfair. In 4vs4 all that matter is to do damage and survive, so everybody needs to do similar damage and have a similar chance of survival. This is why we have class stacking because ranked all the class end up doing the same job and the one that does it better get repeated.

I would love to be able to gear with PVP but I see that PVP is easily exploitable while PVE is more easy to control this is why devs tend to favor PVE as gearing/progress way a guild could make 2 teams and try to join together and let one win rushing his gear up something like that. people playing video game is really immature they would find 1000 ways to break any PVP system they do try to break PVE but again PVE is much easier to control for devs.

Well, the reason for ranked is to box in all the jerk that kick people out of a group or think that winning is the only way to have fun, you call something ranked you give just some silly price and they will tend to gravitate around it leaving the remaining PVP more relaxed and friendly. that would work if ranked and normal pvp would offer the same exact type if only arena exists that would probably work better but due to different offerings of pvp type the people that want to avoid premade can only go ranked so they are forced in there. Premades are really why low level are going ranked (and slightly the reward but I doubt it is really the main factor) a new player wouldn't really just go ranked if in non-ranked he could play vs people not voice coordinated and grouped with a healer and full dps vs a bunch or random people
