  1. Dedicated Inactivity You call it slacking, I call it Dedicated Inactivity(from a T-shirt my wife gave me).
  2. It seems auto-update was off. I don't remember having done that, but... I can believe I did lol. When I had replied to your first post, and mentioned that it had been progressively getting worse before it quit working, my brain caught up to my typing and I said to myself "maybe the time is off?"
  3. ^ I was saving that for after posting here, just to see if anyone had a similar issue. Over the last week to ten days I've noticed the code was a bit... off sync. If it was towards the end of the time period, the launcher would reject it and I'd have to wait for the next code to generate. Sort of like it's a time sync issue. EDIT: And now it works. Looks like my phone's time was incorrect and that was the cause of my issue. I feel rather stupid I didn't think of this sooner.
  4. My security key stopped working yesterday, or to be more precise, it generates keys but the website and launcher say they are incorrect. Ok, no problem, log in via one-time password, remove key, uninstall from phone, reinstall, enter code, attempt to sync key.... Doesn't work. I've tried this multiple times now with no success. Is anyone having a similar issue? How do I go about resolving this?
  5. I saw TLJ late on Thursday after vowing I would not see it after a coworker told me it was basically my worst fears confirmed... I decided I needed to see what the die hard fans were complaining about. And yeah. Worst fears confirmed. First, let me say I know exactly why the reviews were off the charts. A movie critic is going to look at this movie in the context of it being just a singular movie - and if this were some stand-alone thing not connected to 40+ years of lore, then sure, it was great. But when judged (rightly in my opinion) in the context of being one small part of this vast universe we love... Maybe it's possible it is a good movie, but a terrible Star Wars movie? If that makes any sense... Visually it was incredibly impressive. I honestly believe that some of the shots were among the best I've ever seen in a movie. There were entire sequences I disliked, but thought looked amazing. I suppose I can sum it up like this: my eyes thought it looked fantastic, but my brain, and my Star Wars loving heart walked out unhappy. I have a laundry list of things I hate about TLJ, many have been discussed here at length. From SuperLeia (and I love me some EU, so I have no issue with Leia using the Force, but that was just BAD) to forgetting to top up the gas tanks to Star Wars walrus blue-milking (why?!)... But at the end of the day, the thing that has me most unhappy is Luke Skywalker. I think it fair to say I'm one of the world's biggest Luke fan-boys. As a kid, when all my friends wanted to be the cool Han Solo, I was the one who wanted to be Luke so I could have a lightsaber and use the Force. I'm nearly 39, so, I grew up with the OT. (Quick aside, one of my friends is a bit younger and his first SW was really the PT - he loves them, and thinks Anakin is the most ****** dude ever - he thinks Luke is overrated and HE thinks they pooped on Luke in TLJ) Luke will always be the eternal hero to me, and I've gotten into many an argument as to whether Luke was awesome, or just some whiny pain in the rear... And I know that Disney has relegated the EU to "doesn't count for crap" status, but I own all those books, I've read all those books. They carried on the story, and I watched (well, read) Luke grow from a new Jedi Knight into a powerful Jedi Master. So, here we are in TLJ, finally to see Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, and he's a bitter old crumudgeon. He's cut himself off from the Force, he's sulking, he wants to croak. He thinks the Jedi need to end... Wait a minute... Why is that again? Because Ben had some darkness and split, became Kylo Ren... And Luke just says "well, poop. guess I suck then, best to chill here until I die, screw the galaxy and all that..." No way. Luke is the guy who ran off half-cocked in ESB because he saw his friends were in danger. Yoda warned him, Luke still ran to help his friends. This is the Luke who continually tried to redeem his father because he saw there was a tiny sliver of good in him. During that portion of Jedi, Luke was completely on passive - fighting only so much as to defend himself while imploring Vader to turn. Only when Vader threatened Leia did Luke uncork the can of whoop-*** and end him in what.. 30 seconds? (Hence why I think Luke is pretty much an epic ******) Even then, Luke sees he gave in to darkness for a moment, and refuses to fall into the Emperor's trap - throwing away his lightsaber to deliver his "I am a Jedi, like my father before me" line in heroic fashion. So, that guy - he now can't be bothered? Or, he's decided he's such a failure with Ben that he's just gonna pack it in for the rest of his life? Or, hey, screw everyone else in the galaxy (which I helped save 30 years ago), but I'm on a decades long sulk-fest and you'll have to just deal with being subjugated again. I'm not buying that. I think someone here has already said that when we learned Mark Hamil's first comment to Rian Johnson was "I fundamentally disagree with every choice you've made for this character" (or words to that effect) that was our warning. It certainly spooked me, and I see why Mark Hamil was concerned. See, I believe the only person who knows more about Luke Skywalker than Mark Hamil is George Lucas. So, if I'm a director, and the guy who IS Luke Skywalker tells me he has concerns... Well, I don't just go "meh, my movie, my vision, what do you know of it?" What made this all so much worse for me is the fact that I think Mark Hamil KILLED IT in his performance. I hated every damned moment of learning bitter old Luke's story - but I was enthralled watching Mark Hamil do it. I walked out of the theater thinking how badly I felt for Mark - that he was amazing!!! in helping (not willingly I should note!) to utterly destroy his character. Further, ever since the utter crap tease that was Luke in TFA, I hoped against hope that I would get to see epic awesome height-of-his-power heir of Anakin Skywalker Master ****** Luke Skywalker... And we got two small teases of that which hurt me more than if we had gotten ONLY bitter cut-off-from-the-Force I don't do squat Luke. When Rey got all pissed at Luke's version (unsaid) of the "from a certain point of view" bit about what happened with Ben, and charged him - he schooled her. I choose to see that scene in light of it being Jedi Master Luke Skywalker showing Rey that while she may be strong - she's a kid and he's a Jedi Master. She wasn't (because he would not allow her) going to come close to touching him with her staff. It had a bit of Bruce Lee in it - a sort of, I don't even need to attack you to make you look foolish bit. She sort of cheats, calls the saber to her and even then Luke looks ******, using the Force to gently sit down. She didn't beat him so much as he showed her just how powerful he is - and she saw that (and thank god for that!). Later, when he Force astral projects himself - he does the exact same thing to Kylo. He made Kylo look utterly foolish. That was Luke saying - kid, you're strong, sure, but I'm Luke Skywalker. Hooray! And then he poofs off. Blech! Look, I had always assumed that Luke would have to die in these movies. They have to clear the field. And sure, he did it Obi-Wan style, taunting Kylo (more fiercely than Obi-Wan did with Vader)... But here is why that doesn't work for me. Obi-Wan is a thing we know and have seen mainly from the (I think, excellent) work Ewan MacGregor did in the PT. Sure, Alec Guiness is Sir-fricking-Alec Guiness! But we saw so little of Obi-Wan in the OT (awesome though he was) so his death at Vader's hands, though cool, and cryptic, doesn't nearly carry the same weight as our epic hero Luke Skywalker doing it with (a weak, nowhere near as awesome as Vader) Kylo. We had three movies where Luke was THE hero. So, if he goes out in an epic blaze of awesomeness, doing something that only a Jedi Master Luke Skywalker could do (thus clearing the way for Rey to take on Kylo, or something like that) then sure, that's a proper send-off. But Force Astral trolling Kylo? It felt cheap to me, while showing that Luke IS epic in the Force, but only for a chuckle? We don't get to see Jedi Master Luke Skywalker do... anything with his (gosh darn it!) green saber? (I have soooooo many problems with his projection using the Anakin saber, it's not even funny...) TL;DR version: A betrayal of the core of who Luke is, and a total waste of what could have been tremendous. This to me is the ultimate sin of TLJ - that Luke was utterly wasted, and yes, for some of us, he IS our childhood and he got pooped on. Mark Hamil was; however, excellent.
  6. Lost nothing of importance, and due to foresight many years ago, I reclaimed some of my originals. The very first me is... me again.
  7. I didn't want to quote the whole thing Alssaran, but I wanted to say thank you for saying a lot of what I want/wanted to say, but am currently too... pissy to say it as well and as clearly. I think you hit the nail on the head with this one - and as one who has many times many 300s (but lo, just 25%!) - I thank you for speaking for me. And Eric - man, sorry you're in this spot with us all focusing on you (I include myself in the mob, to be sure!. I will defend you in that - you're just doing your job here. But... I dunno, I wish I could see if you're shaking your head like so many of us are too.
  8. Yeah, because it's not like some of us haven't done the grind ad nauseam already. I have 25% of my characters at 300 and about 15 more in the low to mid 200s. But, sure, I can't WAIT to experience the thrill of slightly more CXP on numbers 11, 12, 13... Eric - man, I've spoken with you at the Orlando cantina this year... I totally understand this isn't something done maliciously, nor are you anything more than someone who helps to spread the word round these parts... But this "oops, our bad guys..." is getting old - fast. The official line was one thing, now we learn it was actually something totally different - and it's "oops"? You all have GOT to get it together on these sorts of things. No one here would be annoyed if it had been conveyed correctly in the first place. We would have no leg to stand on in regards to complaints. It would have been a known thing, we'd have done what we need to do... I'm just really disappointed that, once again, it's say one thing, mean something else. You all need to mean what you say, and say what you mean. Not "oops."
  9. From the Roadmap last week as found here: http://www.swtor.com/info/news/news-article/20171002-0 It specifically states characters. Not each class. Not each mirror. Each character. What happened in the span of a week that this changed so drastically or couldn't be communicated to us? So... Let me ask this. Who has the most 300s and only 25%? I'll throw my hat into the ring, as I have 9 CR300s and I'm looking at the same ******* 25% bonus I had yesterday. Why? Well, those 3 Juggs, 3 Guardians, and 3 Sents only count as 1, so you know, **** me eh? Usually I just let crap go, but this? This is NOT what they said as quoted above. Character DOES NOT equal base class + mirror. I'm used to feeling meh at best or disappointed - but it does piss me off that they say one thing and then do something else. How about we not put things out if it's not even kind of correct? Did I need to get 2 juggs and 2 sents and 1 guardian to 300 when I could have done a shadow, a merc, and a scoundrel? No, but maybe I just like my knights/warriors... Not particularly happy tonight.
  10. Lord yes it was worth it over these what? 6 years of playing or so... I've spent countless hours playing swtor - some I played as one pissed off camper, some I've played as if the game were new as in beta... But worth it? Of course it's been worth it.
  11. I'm in a queue for Ebon Hawk. The awesome part? My number in the queue is increasing, not decreasing. Cause reasons?
  12. I got legendary on Harbinger first, and then on Ebon Hawk towards early October. These are the two servers I mainly play on. Aside from random HM FP messes, I didn't find it all that tough as I had the good fortune of having a decent circle of friends to run things with. I've done eternal on Begeren Colony, JC, and Shadowlands. I've got valiant on Bastion, and will have it on Jung Ma and Pot5 by the time it's over. Why? I just want as many free boxes as possible is all. I'm frankly over DvL but free crap is free crap and how many more times can I run EV, KP, TFB..... I will say, the boxes have been unkind to me. I've gotten a few nice drops - of things I had 2+ years ago. Not a single light/dark tuning (I'm not really a fan, but not one in all the boxes? meh...) I've opened 390 total, with a whopping 20 more to go... woo hoo. It's been crap, but it's free crap.
  13. Well, I just tossed 2 more months sub time on my account about 45 seconds after finishing that trailer. I have intuited that many a person is not a Senya fan. I am. Seeing her in this trailer was amazing. I am super fingers crossed that I'm gonna have lots of Senya awesomeness in this expansion. As for the trailer itself - amazing looking. Seriously, well done you all. Looks fantastic and boy am I excited for this.
  14. This. I do this on any heroic I can - obviously can't do this for DK or Coruscant and he like, but, swapping to PvP pretty much guarantees near instant completion of most heroics. But oh no! You may, in an extremely rare instance, encounter 1 other play as you do every heroic!
  15. I'm well aware how PLEX and GTCs work. Again, 4+ years rolling 5 accounts that way. My point was that it is incredibly easy to implement a system whereby a player can use in-game credits to pay for a sub. Yes, the sub is still being paid for in real money by someone, but it doesn't change the fact that it allows a player to play using only in-game currency. Frankly, I view this method as win-win for BW. They're still getting money for a 30 day sub. That is ALWAYS true in this method. The player buying the sub time for sale is converting RL cash for in-game money. That's pretty much true now with the cartel market. Buy hypercrate hoping for something hot to sell on GTN. Your RL cash got converted to credits. All this does is make a new cartel market item that allows people comfortable IRL with disposable income to buy game time and convert it to in-game creds. Allows folks wanting to spend their in-game creds for game time. Again, BW is ALWAYS getting the money for the sub time. In fact, this method garners them more money than someone who buys a multi-month sub at slightly discounted prices. Make the 30 day sub time $19.99. That's more than a regular sub cost and they could say that such game time doesn't give free CC like a regular sub does. More money. I agree that this method doesn't allow a direct transaction between player X and BW, but that does nothing for BW. The sub item cartel market idea makes sure BW is always getting their money. I don't see the downside to this - PLEX and GTC make CCP a ton of money.
  16. I played EVE Online for years this way - 5 accounts. It'd be a piece of cake as others have said, you just have an item from the cartel market that is good for 30 days of sub time that costs whatever $19.99 worth of CC is and voila. Person wanting in-game creds buys sub item, waits 36 hours, lists on GTN. My only thought here is that such an item would command a hefty price on the GTN, likely out of whack for whatever $19.99 worth of CC usually goes for.
  17. Got credit for Solo for Champion level. Can't speak to HM yet.
  18. Right, saw the bit about checking terminal on ship - it's there.
  19. Additionally, wasn't downtime extended like 2 days when they deployed Trinity, or was that Rev II when it went on and on and on and on and on....? I was a pretty new player then and was still riding my EVE high - it was definitely a form of withdrawal...
  20. Right so, in regards to Hoth, I'm sorry that late Sunday night we rallied like 60+ people to farm the ever loving s*** out of conquest objectives to pull into the lead. It was a big push and trust me, we got the word to participate.
  21. My utilization was much higher than the 25% you mentioned heh. I was seeing activity much more like when I try to compress a video file. Obviously a lot of people managed this just fine, but for those of us reporting issues in this thread, it sure looks like something is off with the launcher and it's doing something that's really trying to do SOMETHING with the CPU. This is the first time I've ever had an issue patching in what, 4+ years now of playing, and I've never had the "game" use anywhere near this much of my CPU. As I mentioned, the launcher was seemingly stuck running, and manually killing it has me back to normal, in game, no issues, usual CPU usage and temps. I just find it interesting that this error is both preventing people from successfully patching AND doing something, something?, something in the background.
  22. After restarting the launcher about 15 times (and as many have mentioned, having to manually close it through task manager after each file download/install to 99%) I finally got in. Awesome! Except no, still something amiss. My CPU was getting pinged pretty hard, with several cores showing 70%+ utilization and my temps were up (I have a digital display - I'm paranoid about CPU temps) much higher than what I see on a day to day basis, even when playing SWTOR. Checking task manager showed that while the game had spawned its two processes as usual, the launcher was still shown as running as well - and that was what was hitting the CPU. I manually closed out the launcher process (as had been done seemingly ad infinitem during patching) and everything is running normally now. Point is, it looks like the launcher isn't closing properly upon game start even AFTER you get yourself patched.
  23. I fear I'll anger folks here with my replies, but I tend to fall into the same camp as cs-zoltan mainly... 1. How do you rate the The Force Awakens out of ten and in relation to previous Star Wars movies? In relation to the Star Wars movies... visually I think it appealed to me marginally more than Phantom Menace, but I think Phantom Menace made more sense. I would say it's my least favorite Star Wars movie by a mile, and that's with me saying I really didn't much care for Phantom Menace. In terms of a straight up movie ranking on a scale of ten, I give it maybe a 5 - sure, I'll watch it again, and I generally thought it was pretty terrible, but I've seen many movies that were worse. Admittedly, I would admit that as much as I didn't like TFA, I do rank it somewhat higher than other poor movies because it IS Star Wars, even if it's not the Star Wars I wanted or hoped for. 2. Who is your favourite (new) character so far and why? Easily Rey by a mile. And honestly, I'm not sure why. As my wife and I sat in the theater last night, rather disliking the whole thing (from the opening crawl even!), I couldn't help but like Rey. For me, she was about the one bright spot in the movie, and I even think she made no sense. Really, I didn't like her development into latent force user awesomeness, but at the same time, I was rooting for her. For whatever reason, I like her, a lot, and the thought of watching her develop under Luke is the only thing giving me the tiniest bit of hope moving forward. Honorable mention goes to BB-8 by the way, and I thought I was going to hate him! 3. Who is your least favourite (new) character so far and why? Every other character introduced in this movie save for Poe, who I tolerated. As for why, I'd go simply with they were terrible. Oh, and the uniforms, especially on the Empi... I mean First Order side - was it intentional on Abrams part that the uniforms looked like the First Order folks had their moms sew their uniforms after watching grainy VHS copies of the OT? 4. Out of the returning Original Trilogy cast, who gave the best performance? R2-D2 - hands down. Why? Because he looked and sounded like R2-D2. Yeah, you all are going to think I'm joking here... I'm not. He was the only OT character (and I'm excluding Luke since he was in the movie for 3.5 seconds and said nothing) that acted like his OT self. I get that a lot of people liked the return of Han, but I thought the script did Han a disservice. Han Solo doesn't just lose the Falcon and then take 30 years to magically plot-point find it... 5. What was the most awesome/epic moment for you in the movie? When I left the theater since it was over. Honorable mention goes to when Rey force pulls Anakin's lightsaber from the snow - cheesy, but I did get a bit of a thrill seeing that. Actually, in fairness, just seeing Anakin's lightsaber was pretty cool. I always loved the blue blade, the look of it, the sound of it - Abrams did that right I guess. 6. What as the funniest moment for you in the movie? BB-8 zapping Finn - I admittedly chuckled at that. 7. Do you think Rey might be a descendant from the Skywalker line, and if so is she Luke or Leia's daughter? Yes, I think she's Luke's daughter. That just feels "right" to me, and I think I want her to be his daughter. 8. The death of Han Solo, your thoughts? Should he have died, should it have been done differently? Thoughts... it was a complete disservice to the character. Should he have died? Yeah, I could totally see Han dying for the right reason, at the right time, and having his death be meaningful... As shown in TFA... I thought it was terrible. For me it lacked impact, and frankly, only Chewie had a semi-decent reaction, though I'd have liked to see him turn into a Wookie Hulk afterwards for a time... 9. How do you rate the lightsaber duel out of ten and in relation to previous lightsaber duels? It was terrible, but I think that was by design and this is one area that I think may actually have been done well. As I've thought about things, and read reactions, I think I'm falling into the camp of "Kylo isn't all that well trained actually" and certainly Finn has no aptitude for handling a lightsaber - nor should he. Rey too, while perhaps having experience with a melee weapon, she's never before handled a lightsaber and latent force power aside, she should be fumbling with it as well. Now, visually, I think it was a very attractive final duel. I thought the lighting was right, the background was right, the colors were right. Something about a dark duel, with classic red and blue sabers clashing appeals to me (Empire is the greatest movie ever made after all!). I loved the snowy backdrop, I loved the look of it. That duel gets high marks from me in terms of how it looked. In terms of what we saw though - yeah, it's certainly lackluster compared to anything we saw in the PT. Again though, I think that was intentional and perhaps well done. These aren't well schooled saber duelists here - they looked fumbly-bumbly. Was it better than Vader v Obi-wan? Yeah, I'd agree with that. But was it better than Luke v Vader in ESB or Jedi? Nope, not even close. I'd put myself in the camp of folks who think Luke would have mopped the floor with Ren. Choose your Luke even lol - I say ESB Luke obliterates Ren, and Jedi Luke takes maybe 3 or 4 seconds to beat him. For disclosure, I'm someone who enjoys my EU Luke, and will even admit that he gets pretty over-amped power-wise. But I don't care, I am a Luke fanboy and nothing will ever change that. I'm willing to admit it. I do worry though that there is nothing out there for Luke to do moving forward EXCEPT to train Rey. Did Ren as we saw him require a Luke Skywalker to face him? Hell no! There's going to have to be something fierce out there that requires Luke to actually step forward and have to face, because what we've seen certainly doesn't require his prowess to stop. (Ok, I'm again admittedly bringing in my Luke EU bias here - but I personally can stand on just the "canon" Luke we saw in Jedi having more than enough skill to take on anything we saw in TFA without breaking the tiniest of a sweat.) 10. How to you rate the film score out of ten and in relation to scores from the previous movies? And if you have a favourite soundtrack/theme, which was it? Easily the worst. This is like the first time I've been disappointed in Mr. Williams. He phoned this one in. No theme we're going to be going nuts over from this one, nothing new at all. I thought I heard some Close Encounters of the Third Kind in there even... I was very disappointed in the score. 11. If you could change one thing with the movie, what would it be? Abrams - he screwed up Trek and I fear he's now screwed up Star Wars. Going further, I'd say the plot... I just didn't get this movie. Rehash? Yeah. Beyond that, it felt rushed, it felt unfinished, and I didn't think it made sense. We have the Republic, and they're the government.... But there's a Resistance? Ok, I think I actually do get that, but it was murky. Oh, and one other thing that bugged me... Why is Rey handing Luke Anakin's lightsaber at the end? Was that meant to be a visual way of saying "Mr Jedi sir, um, we sort of could use you back... you know? Um, like, could you take up this weapon again and help us?" The reason I mention it is simple: what need does Luke Skywalker have with Anakin's/his first saber?! Last I recall, Luke lost that one (and his hand) on Cloud City, and you know, built himself a new one. Vader comments, that his skills are now complete. I so wanted Luke to pull back his cloak a bit, to show, hey, look, I've got one of those hanging on my belt! I'm actually a real Jedi, you know?! Again, I get the idea of arm extended, saber in hand as a way of saying - "We need you Jedi Master!" But damn it, Luke has a damned saber, his saber, the one he built himself. Did he lose that one? And did he forget how to make another one? And I actually love Anakin's saber! I do, it's blue, much better than green (my opinion of course lol), it looks cooler to me than the one Luke built... But man, I did NOT like that visual. *Luke Skywalker, needing someone to hand him Anakin's saber....* Shaking my head at that!
