  1. The numbers weren't produced from a parse on any mob per se. They were produced with a simulation program vs. a mob that would resemble a raid boss under ideal situation (no movement etc), ideal use of the best temps (exotech stims/adrenals), with zero lag. It is only as accurate as the programing and priority list (the most work as been done with sage/sorc priority lists etc so it's pretty accurate). It is bascially the max theoretical dps you can do with BIS gear but is practically unreachable on any in game single target parse because of lag, mistakes, armor debuffs falling off, etc. When comparing madness vs. lightning you have to appreciate that the two specs have slightly different BIS and the rotation for lightning is more complex and more susceptible to user error, lag, RNG procs etc. If you are using lightning with low alacrity that will give appearances that it's not as good as you're not optimied for lightning. I too usually parse a little better with balance / madness on the ops dummy .. but in game I did ~60k more dps on nightmare pilgrim (~10%) using lightning when i was testing the two. Also for Kephess lightning has some advantages ... more aoe dps, more burst, more force etc. As for alacrity and madness, you are correct alacrity only benefits force lightening/ TT. But 50% of your dps comes from force lightening and over half your time is spent channeling force lightning. Also surge over 75% has large diminishing returns. So alacrity is still usefull as is the 4pc force master bonus.
  2. It's difficult to compare dps to other classes on a dummy because of armor debuffs. The effect of armor debuffs on both our main dps specs is considerable. However in BIS sages fall behind almost every other dps class (there is another active thread on this I believe.) Generally i'd say maurader>sniper>merc> sorc. Sorc dps is probably better than sin dps. Not sure where PT's fit in there for PVE. Best way to see if you're meeting your potential is to upload all your gear into askmrrobot, import it into simcraft (be sure to unselect armor debuffs and any group buffs you are missing) and see what a computer can parse in ideal situation and try to replicate it. Madness /balance is a pretty easy rotation/priority list so you should be able to get within 100 dps of the 'ideal' parse. TK/lightening is harder to get that same efficiency. Daella posted the optimal gear sets/specs/ and dps ranking for sage/sorc. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=499626 Lightning/TK is a better spec under optimal circumstances. Dont discount alacrity for madness/balance ... BIS has 228 alacrity rating (vs. 342 surge rating). Also ditching some crit for power will help your dps. @midichlorian: force management should never be a problem with madness/balance unless you are using project, healing/bubbling or maintaining dots on 2-3 mobs.
  3. Just started with my assasin. But going to go Survivor BM to get the armorings for 4 peice bonus then sub in all warhero aptitude 26 and adept 26 mods. Maybe a couple mettle mods depending on how it looks when i get near the end of optimzing. Not sure if it's the way to go but the 5% extra damage seems pretty sweet to me. Spike is almost as good as a short range interupt with a small resolve cost.
  4. str helps your melee damage bonus and your melee crit. but you shouldn't put any emphasis on it other than grabbing the str datacrons.

  6. I've dps'd on my sage in pvp since the beginning. Since 1.2 and 1.3 they are extremely weak class in group warzones. Oh yeah I still can top the damage on the warzone score screen... but so what. I can also 1vs1 relatively well.. meaningless. It is obvious to me that I can bring more to my team either healing or bringing my relatively (compared to my sage) undergeared gunslinger than bringing my sage and dotting and kiting one person. Summary... 1vs1 means nothing in warzones. Maybe if there was a hint of world pvp in this game you might have a meaningful argument. but nice i'm better than you thread.
  7. I too would like the credits, comms and exp as soon as i zone into this zone. thanks
  8. His dps is 1553. You have to take damage and divide by time. There are some differences between different parsing methods... mostly do to when the encounter is considered ended. Also looks like a TK/lightening build. A hybrid will get a bit more punch in the presence of armor debuffs fyi. http://www.torparse.com/a/49312/1 I was bored and parsed mine. 1430 in just over 6 min. I've let my crit go too low I think. For comparison: wp: 2112, bonus 903.9, 35.11% crit, 77.3% surg with 4 buffs and rakata power adrenal. no set bonuses.
  9. 2 minutes isn't much of a test. We generally have low burst dps.. so almost every dps class with comparable gear will beat that. I get about 1400 dps on a 6 min fight...though it's been forever since i tested it. Looks like your dps breakdown is similar to mine. A sentinel in our guild says he can do 2k. but we parse about the same in ec hm. we shine on long fights where we can be stationary or move minimally. we especially shine when you can dot two mobs at once (toth/zorn, storm/fire)
  10. For PVP the Stalker 2 and 4 peice set bonuses are the best hands down. Requires some mod swapping etc to get rid of accuracy. For PVE it depends on your spec. Force masters 4 set bonus is good for TK spec. 2 set bonus prob helps for balance. if you're hybrid all are pretty worthless. The PVP stalker bonus is probably best for PVE but you'd lose out on too much willpower etc with stalker armoring mods. I'd get all the blackhole pieces you can... slowly collect BIS armorings from campaign gear and prety much ignore set bonuses.
  11. Double dipping is no longer beneficial. It is dps neutral at best and in a force starved situation would be detrimental. See the discussion on mmo-mechanics for the details. 'Hybrid' probably benefits the most from the stacking armor debuffs. Testing on dummies will not appreciate that difference. If stacking armor debuffs is eliminated in 1.3 then hybrid may fall behind. Last i tested on the dummy hybrid parsed about 100 dps more than full TK (1300 vs. 1400) with my gear setup. I also agree with the placing the aoe fib. I hate puddle aoe's. At least once on a toth/zorn fight I miss the mobs or fubble with the targeting. Annoying. Hybrid is the most mobile, easiest to play and most consistent to parse. Its useful in both pve and pvp which is the main reason i use it. However, it is also the most boring.
  12. this Stims are nice but hardly worth qq'ing over.
  13. i'd rather partake in a 5-0 over a 600-0 anyday. Seen maybe 3-4 5-0 close battles... twice in a row last week in 0-49 bracket.
  14. They cast heals. is this really a serious thread?
  15. Because this is a pvp game? What makes it a pvp game? The massive 3 whole warzones ? or the complete lack of world pvp? or is it the poorly designed pvp gear. Or is it that the dev's are making changes that remove any pvp gear progression and making it so that grinding pvp warzones is no longer a viable cashcow? This is primarily a pve game, this has been obvious to me since my beta experiences on a pvp server. To balance classes based on pvp qq is absolute bs.
  16. I can tell by the quality of your post that you are an expert pvp'er and your word is gold. By the irrefutable evidence you'ver provided i've concluded this player was both op and a cheater. Dont listen to the nay -sayers. your post is much much different that the other cry / nerf threads in this forum. If you die again in teh warzones please make another post. Doing so will gain you support and respect of your peers.
  17. nice try. i think you should learn to play your mains better. I think i prefer my gunslinger over my sage tbh. less survivability sure (but enough to get out of a 1 vs 3 most of the time)... but just as much cc and WAY more dps. Oh and pre-50 pvp doesn't really mean anything fyi.
  18. Imo Healing is boring 95% of the time for pretty much every healing class in every mmo ever. Only fun part is healing really tough encounters and progression raiding. Try some warzones. U won't kill many people but it's more adaptive and fun... And you'll enrage the other team plenty.. That's fun.
  19. I'd like to applaud the op's attempt to make what is lag or perhaps a hacker (unlikely) into a nerf sorc thread. I threw a ball to a shadow in huttball the other day. He was standing all alone in the middle of my blue circle... ball when flying right to him. Ball went neutral. Buff Shadows because they can't catch is really the only conclusion one can make from this. Can't catch worth a lick.
  20. enoax

    Nerf healing today

nerf healers, dps and tanks imo. today.
  21. Please play a different game. You've leveled to 14 which means you played about 2 hours.. maybe less and are already complaining in the forums. Please just go away. This game has enough whiners already.
  22. all classes but mine are op. FACT!
  23. i'm leveling my gunslinging (ss spec ) alt and have a sorc as a main. I'd have to say the gs has better spike damage even at lower levels. I can focus down almost any class MUCH better than i can with my hybrid sage. Maybe things change at 50 but I'm quite impressed with my alt so far.
