  1. Earning gear is a grind any way you cut it really. The point I'm making is the currency prior to KOTET was in fact as simple as it could be.. just one currency for purchasing (Edit: pvp) gear. My gripe with GC is the random nature of the command crates, not the requirement to do stuff to earn them. The point I'm making in this thread is that GC was sold as less complex, but it is infact only getting more complex with the January update.
  2. During the various streams prior to the release of KOTET an advantage touted about the GC system was reduced complexity. You only have earn CXP and open crates, no more crystals/comms of whatever flavor just play the game and grind crates for gear. While I'm in the camp that thinks the system stinks, the changes discussed on the Dec 15th stream are at least an improvement over the current GC mechanics... However the whole thing ends up more complex than the original gearing sytem for pvp focused players at least. I'm focusing on pvp here since that's what I do, pve players feel free to chime in. Prior to the KOTET you earned pvp commendations to purchase gear plus individual mods/enhancements, and ranked tokens to purchase rating based vanity items (which are still in the game). Under the proposed changes you earn unassembled components (multiple) to purchase assembled gear pieces, which you trade in along with command tokens to purchase gear with a valor requiement. From one currency to three, four if you count the valor requirement. I'm counting the unassembled/assemlbed pieces as a form of curency which I think is fair. I also think it's fair to say "one" currency prior to KOTET seeing as you could save up enough warzone commendations to go through the purchasing chain to get the highest tier if you where so inclined. The proposed changes coming in January only seem to add more complexity which appears counter to the point of the GC system you attempted to sell prior to launch. Personally I saw nothing wrong with the old gearing mechanic, if anything you could have just improved the vendor interface and that would have done the job. Players could save comms for what they wanted, and also optimized the gear to their liking, seems simple enough. This of course doesn't take into account the removal of expertise which is a different bag of worms.
  3. In the same way that a certain level of gear is expected of players looking to do high end PvE, theres no reason to not have a similar expectation of PvP players. Sure you could do NiM content in lvl 40 greens if you where so inclined, but you're guaranteed to fail, or simply be a liability to your group. Bioware stated they didn't want to put up barriers to new players, I can't help but think its more to do with the illusion of a better ranked population. Having an expertise requirement would have no real affect on 4's, but there's no question that yolo would see a drop in player participation. Until "better than xserver" Bioware couldn't institute an expertise requirement without making the population/participation problem worse.
  4. I've had it happen periodically ever since it was put in. There are times where it was more frequent, but its always been there.
  5. Thanks Emperor_Troll this is a great guide.
  6. American here, saw this thread and thought I would clear everything up. America is the best, argument resolved glad I could help.
  7. Was really hoping the "new" set was just a placeholder, but the fact its all recolored likely means thats the next tier. Wouldn't be as bad if Obroan didn't look like crap I suppose.
  8. What about something like unstoppable instead of root Bioware proposed. Not 4 seconds, but a 2 - 3 second cc immunity perhaps, and maybe a damage reduction buff.
  9. I don't get it, where are the additional sniper buffs.
  10. Always love it when a target utilizes the "stand and do nothing" defense. You appear to be lost, try "Flashpoints, Operations, and Heroic Missions".....
  11. Why the damage changes are decent, I'm in the "would rather have defences"..... Damage is all fine and good, but if we can't stay alive, well kinda makes the changes moot in pvp. I certainly hope further changes can be played with once the pts goes live. Things I would really like to see, and to some extent addressed. 1. Better energy management (change to lacerate will help that) Will have to play around on pts to see if its enough. 2. Some QoL changes, like explosive provbe being used out of cover. With the cover change making it fairly pointless for operatives/scoundrels to go into cover (besides explosive probe). 3. Backstab/Backblast cooldown reverted to old cooldown, this has been suggested A LOT... 4. Overload shot cost changed to justify its useage, otherwise the recent change makes no point at all since its just too costly to use. 5. Survivability... survivability... survivability, please please toy around with some possible changes in 2.6, I agree with Scold that its a copout on your part that its not feasable to do something that only benefits the dps specs I just don't buy it.
  12. Why are you constantly moving backwards and forwards?
  13. Non ranked arenas, and warzones should be on a seperate queue. Shouldn't force people that prefer one form of pvp to the other.
  14. I was suprised that buffs where not given to gunslinger/sniper tbh. I know vanguard and powertechs are in a some what bad place atm, but slingers/snipers really need a lot of attention/buffs. Lets all hope bioware continues to add new class changes (especially to sniper/slingers) as the pts carries on until release.
  15. The lure is strong with Bioware You didn't get any pvp content for over a year, and we have nothing planned for the summer.. BUT .. wait until 2.4 its a pvp oriented patch that ranked players will really like. j/k.. removing ranked warzones trololololololol We are going to be implementing some features to reduce ranked queue times. haha yep by removing them! trolololololol No wait, 8v8 ranked warzones could return.. just stay with us... come on just stick around *tee hee*
  16. No more Nightmare mode Operations A smelly part of those Tauntaun guts is that for Game Update 2.4 we are removing Nightmare Operations from the game. We are sad to see it go but the truth is that because of many factors not enough people played them and we support them more that whats warranted, so they are going away for now. Getting eight friends together and hoping another eight people are doing the same at the exact same time, 16 man operations are a nightmare! for the players. It is possible that Nightmare Operations will come back at a later time if we can solve some of the problems with them and if the population is there to support them. We hope you enjoy Story/Hardmode Operations just as much as you enjoy Nightmare mode Operations. The same amount of attention to team strategy and coordination will be required in high level Operations play so right now we want to focus on the Carte...Story/Hardmode Operations for the current Operations content. We appreciate your participation in game content and to provide you something special we will be giving out two unique fluff for this with Game Update 2.4. Speaking of fluff, our current plan is to let folks have a (short) window to practice the new Opeartions on the pts server before rolling out. Stay tuned for more details on the one-time fluff bonanza and more Dread Masters! as we get closer to October!
  17. While you're at it Bioware, please take a look at the significant delay on vital shot, compared to corrosive dart which functions correctly. You can fire vital shot, run behind an obstacle and then it shoots, really annoying and it can also lead to double tapping targets because its not immediately clear it fired off the first time... as instant cast abilities should.
  18. I suppose the only real way will know is if the devs actually comment on things, maybe we need a player rep for UI questions.... Devs if you read this, please give us some information on your future plans for the UI editor. If 3rd party addons are out of the question (for the most part) than what do you have in store for us?
