  1. I don't understand this post. A pvp'er with two additional aug slots will still suck for pve, period. A pve'er with or without aug slots will suck in pvp, period. What's the issue here..? e: Ah well, I read the post again (was a bit of a mess tbh), and understand the issue. Well yes, it's sort of a bummer, but I do believe you will be able to get augmented boots and gloves by reverse engineering purple set gear. No more difficult than grinding to valor rank 60. A lot less time consuming actually.
  2. If you do the "pyramid things" in the right order he never ever does it, or at least that's my experience. If you miss one in between the stacks wont go down. Usually people miss the first one, because it's not spawned yet when you first jump down (if you jump fast). Gotta wait for it to spawn, destroy it, and then keep jumping and destroying them on the way. You don't need to destroy all of them, just enough to get the stacks off, which happens right in the middle when you have to wait the second time for a platform to drop.
  3. One augment slot is a pretty small thing to consider in a gunslinger vs sniper debate. I'm much more interested in how the dw guns vs sniper affects things. My gut feeling is that snipers have the advantage there since the offhand suffers such a heavy accuracy penalty. But then there are the proc trinkets that benefit from more shots fired... And so it goes on. So yeah, a bit stupid to get bent over one aug slot when there are so many other things to calculate first.
  4. Just look for marauder gear, that's one. Lots of items with that skin with color variations, even in GTN.
  5. Well correct me if I'm wrong, but your MM rotation looks like it takes around 12 seconds, while your leth rotation takes 7,5. That's hardly a similar time. It's not like the leth sniper will be just sitting there waiting for your "burst" to end. And in pvp, honestly, neither will your target. You are correct about the damage at will part though, but your example isn't very good. Cull does require a big set up that a MM sniper does not need. Just (laze) snipe + ambush + followthrough is a nice burst in 3 seconds , at which time a leth sniper is only just going for WB , and has barely done any damage. In PvE, I really can't say who bursts better, and I can only think of two fights where such a fast burst is needed anyway, so it's not really a relevant point. Only bursting you really need to worry about is in pvp, and even there it's unclear who really is the more useful burster. MM gets it out faster, but leth does get it out with a bigger bang once he's ready. Imho both are very viable in both pvp and pve, but it's obvious to me that Leth is superior in every way when it comes to PvE.
  6. Voss by far. Belsavis second. Balmorra I really like actually, at least on the empire side. Rep was kind of meh.
  7. Zero. I'd save my money, unsub, and leave my dead server as it is, unless Bioware gives us free transfers or preferably merges quick.
  8. Nothing random about it. There were no existing recipes for orange boots or gloves, and they didn't just add in a bunch of recipes for them once the patch hit. You can RE raid purples for orange recipes or grind to battlemaster if you're that desperate for them. You can't have aug slots on bracers or belts btw.
  9. You can make orange versions without any mods or armoring. Takes valor rank 70 but can have augment slots if you crit.
  10. Yeah that's the first time I've seen it happen today, and certainly not the first time our teams have had less than 6 players each. Nothing about this in the patch notes either.
  11. Had a 6 vs 2 huttball. As soon as gates open it says "warzone will shut down in 30 seconds". And then it did 30 seconds later. Weird, huh?
  12. I'm not sure if it's a bug or what, but last huttball half my team got 6 medals for a fast win, and half didn't. I personally didn't. I racked up 6 medals in those 4 or 5 minutes, so it's not that I didn't have enough medals to get them or anything, and it was pretty annoying to see people who did far less in the match get more medals than me. So who knows, maybe it's just a bug.
  13. Yes, the Sith are pretty much the biggest problem with the Empire. Playing an agent really makes you appreciate how the Sith can screw every plan up, and how much better it would be if they weren't the ones in charge of everything. Playing an Agent is all about the safety of the Empire and its people, and the two Sith story lines are all about the inner power struggles and gaining power for yourself, which tells you a lot already. Agent saves the Empire while being hindered by the Sith, and the two Sith get nice titles and lots of power. If it were just Jedi vs Sith, then the in-fighting of the Sith would make sense in their own twisted way, because it makes them stronger, and gets rid of the weak. In an all-out galactic war it's a different matter all together. It's not like the Emperor cares how much his people screw things up though, since his plan doesn't require victory, and he sure doesn't care about the people of his Empire.
  14. And just to clarify: it's not that all inquisitors are former slaves, but it's just the story Bioware gave YOUR Inquisitor. Seems like a reasonable plan to bolster your forces this way. The Sith Academy weeds out the weak ones anyway.
  15. Well, gear you obtain for pve is useful in pve. You can do better at a hardmode flashpoint for example. Your gear will still be better for pve than the recruit gear.

    New to Swtor pvp

Now that you get sprint at level 1, you can be totally competitive from level 10 onward. It's best to start early, since most people aren't very good at the lower bracket, but at 50 you will get pwned very fast if you don't know what you're doing. You can spend your commendations on whatever you want. Pre-20 I usually buy the implants and ear and don't bother with the rest, and then buy the level 40 gear (or at least some of it) and put it into the bank. All the pre-50 gear is just the same as all the other gear of that level, so they don't really give you an edge or anything. Just make sure to have 2000 commendations when you ding 50 if possible. It'll make your transition into the 50 bracket a bit smoother.
  17. As far as I know those skills only affect the initial damage of the corrosive grenade and not the dot, so it's not really worth going for the crit damage instead of steady shots off MM imo(though I am sure some people prefer your build; it does buff frag grenades and orbital at least..). Explosive engineering is still a must-have skill for a hybrid though, even though it's a very small buff to corrosive grenade.
  18. I always get a ton of medals on my sniper when playing huttball. It's actually the easiest wz to get medals in for me. Play for objective, that's my suggestion. Last game I got 16 medals in a 15 minute match. Loads of defender medals and plenty of attacker medals, even though I didn't score once. Snipers are among the best defenders in huttball, so focus ballcarrier, snare or knock him in the fire, or just nuke him down. Also, you get defender points for killing people at your goal area, so if you're desperate for medals, just stay and kill stuff after the enemy scores. Don't try scoring on your own, just pass it to someone better suited for the job, and support if you can. That's how you get attacker medals; you don't need to have the ball to get them. I usually just stay in the middle and try to hold it though. For that we ARE the best class. Now, granted, my sniper experience is from the lower bracket where ball carriers are a lot easier to kill, and if you're in a team that gets rolled over in 5 minutes you're pretty much screwed, but so is every other class as well.
  19. The 10-49 bracket is dead on my server since the patch. Before the patch we had plenty of pvp: queues were short and action was good. Since then, the queues are mostly huge, and even when the game actually begins 95% of the time at least one side is short-handed, usually both. A good match happens like once a day for me, provided I can be bothered to play the game in hopes of getting a game. Sucks so hard.
  20. 50-70 people on the whole server? In a world as big as TOR's that's like a single player game. And I thought I had it bad on my server..
  21. Well that's weird, because we didn't see a single enrage when we cleared the place, and we weren't in full rakata. Two out-of-guild guys had a little tionese on mixed with a bit of rakata and lots of columi. I was under the imperssion that enrage timers as a mechanic had been removed.
  22. More aoe threat would be fun, but far from necessary. Trash is always just a faceroll experience as you barely have to even tank elites in raids, just the champs. Pug hardmodes the lack of aoe threat just means more work for the healer, but never a wipe. No boss encounter in the game has adds that require a good aoe tank. Sure there are adds, even quite many sometimes, but taking them as a juggernaut is still no problem. At least we got our aoe taunt. I sure as hell can't out-threat an orbital strike or anything like that, but adds go down fast anyways. Our single-target threat is good, as is our migitation, and we have the best cooldowns. Still, it would be quite nice to have a good aoe threat ability other than smash, but meh, I can live without one. That's the only "issue" I have with juggernauts at the moment.
  23. Name: Sihq Class: Sorc Spec: 1/12/28 madness "hybrid" Dps: 1306 Pic: http://imageshack.us/f/546/sorcdps.jpg/ Well, did this right after. I know the rotation well, but screwed up one or two lightning barrage double dips for whatever reason, no big deal. Didn't use an on-use relic even though that's what I use for pve, nor did I use my adrenal. Not entirely sure if I should be using more or less shock yet, kinda getting used to the whole idea of using it to replace chain lightning. I just used it when I felt like it, usually when applying other instants. e: crap, realized I didn't have my "force" stats showing. Bonus damage is 764 and crit chance is 36,31, and 3,45% alacrity. Two columi set pieces and a columi earpiece with aug slot, and BM weapon, the rest are rakata. e2: It's pretty amazing how close the dps of my Jugg and Sorc are. These were just two tries, but overall their damage is pretty identical in a long fight. Granted, my jugg does have the 20% armor penetration that my sorc does not, so in a raid environment I'd still rather have a sorc because she's ranged and there are other classes that provide the armor penetration, but still, very close. My sorc's gear is slightly better too.
  24. Name: Zixu Class: Juggernaut Spec: 2/32/7 Vengeance DPS: 1297 Screenshot: http://imageshack.us/f/100/vengdps.jpg/ I didn't realize I was lacking the time, but instead of taking a picture of that as well I thought I'd just do the math: 231257 (my damage) / 1297 (my dps) = 178 seconds of damage. I timed it and print screened in the middle of my rotation. Shows my gear and stats as well in the pic. Rotation might not be the best, I don't know, never have played vengeance apart from one or two raids, but gear is at least decent. I'll do my sorc later as well.
  25. I'm not 100% sure about this, but from my experience it only bugs (or bugged) if you use it immediately after charge. I encountered that bug quite a bit when I started out my warrior, but learned not to use it straight after a charge and haven't encountered it since.
