  1. I wouldn't hire a developer if he/she did not play WoW at some point. It is the pinnacle of MMO's. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a product that does a lot of things right and improving upon it and creating your own unique game.
  2. I think what you are referring to is this bullet: "Healers are at a disadvantage." They were referring to PvP and healers not being awarded proper medals for healing. Changed as of today.
  3. I thought the same thing when it was mentioned on the live stream. Buffs and debuff are super tiny on the operations frames- no matter how large you make the frames. This really needs to fixed.
  4. How often does this happen? Never. They are trying to avoid real time pug kicking and snap judging. They are not trying to ban long term raid analysis. It is a lot more work to upload a combat log. This method is generally used by top end guild trying to min/max performance.
  5. Programming a combat log that only capture each players specific data would not happen. Combat logs capture all information that happens within a specific players range. In-game it will be filtered so you can only see your data. On your computer, in a file, a combat log will exist that has all player data captured. This data can be uploaded to a 3rd party site for analysis.
  6. He is referring to In game judging. Putting a log into a 3rd party analyzer allows you to properly evaluate performance. What happens in pugs and normal raids when a add-on like recount is present is usually something like people spamming DPS meters and kickiing those below a specific threshold. They want to avoid this. They do want combat log evaluation from sites like WoL. Combat logs capture all information.
  7. So the log will magically change for PvP? Lmao - seriously done arguing here. You are grasping at straws.
  8. Again here is the exact Quote "With 1.2 you will be able to enable a chat log feature that indicates what killed you or what you killed. We also will have a detailed parseable combat log able to be written to disc. The log will not be available in-game. Let me get even more simple for those who still cannot comprehend basic logic. I underlined the key component. Explain to me in logic how a log can capture what killed you but not capture external data. I really want to see this programming Wizardy. If Player A is what killed you, and it displays what killed me, then logically how can I not becapturing Player A data. If I am capturing Player A data, then how can I not have a log of it?
  9. Wrong. What you see in chat is a small portion of what will exist in the combat log. It is a filter of information specifically pertaining to you. What is in the combat log is alll information. The combat log is the code behind the scenes capturing the data. How do you write a combat log that captures only your data? This makes zero sense logically and impossible to program.
  10. Here is the exact Quote for those of you who are having a hard time Understanding. "With 1.2 you will be able to enable a chat log feature that indicates what killed you or what you killed. We also will have a detailed parseable combat log able to be written to disc. The log will not be available in-game." Let me break this down into simple language for you. There will be a chat feature that displays personal information only about things like: what killed you and what you killed. How much you hit X mob for. There will also be a behind the scenes combat log which has "All information" that can be exported. If player A hits you for X amount then logically it is capturing his data as well. Follow? This is how you can measure other players performance.
  11. Please explain to me how a combat log only captures personal data. It capture all data in a external file. What they are referring to is that you will only be able to see your specific data in real time. e.g. you were killed by 3k damage from Joe Smoe. The log itself will have everyone's data - which can be exported to an analysis site like World of Logs.
  12. Actually No. You don't understand the way it works. You can create a combat log for yourself. This log actually captures all combat data which can be uploaded to a 3rd party site for analysis. There just will not be an in-game dps meter for others to view.
  13. The agent has not been marketed correctly. The Agent Character is based on Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. I have leveled both a smuggler and a Agent to 50 - along with a Jedi Guardian as well. The Agent story is by the far the best story in the game hands down. Its so much better then every other story, you almost feel as if they dropped the ball on the rest. Also the agent ship is amazing.
  14. These forums do not represent the true feeling of the community. It mostly exists as an outlet for people to complain. This is especially true for the General Forums which should be called the Rant Forums. People post here because they feel that they will reach the biggest audience and they are hoping the Developers will see their post. Its mostly little children throwing temper tantrums. Just like any review site, people generally only post when they are unhappy. The truth is, most people are enjoying the game. A very very small portion of the actual players come to these forums.
  15. Web based Combat log parsers have the ability to work in real time. If you are not familiar with "World of Logs" go check it out. There is no reason to have an in-game DPS meter as it generally does not give the true story. If you are intelligent enough to understand the value of combat metrics and be able to separate the good information from the poor information then a web page parse will be the right tool. Bio-ware has made the correct decision here. If you can't understand why then you probably should not be evaluating performance anyway. Leave the logs to those of us who are smart enough to know the difference. please check out the out of game WoW combat log tool before you complain about not having a LOL recount. This will give you a general idea of what to expect. http://www.worldoflogs.com/
  16. I have leveled both a smuggler and Operative to 50. Leveling as Concealment is fine. Leveling as a healer is not recommended but can be done with enough patience. You really do not shine until 36. Make sure you use a tank companion because they will pull aggro away from you and allow you to hit them in the back which is crucial as a operative. Make liberal use of grenade and stuns.
  17. I healed SoA on my Soundrel and the Sage fell to his death by accident on the top platform, so I was alone for our decent until I could res him at the bottom.
  18. Well I do not think healing Operatives issues can be considered game breaking. Content at the moment is fairly easy in comparison to the other top tiered MMO. Most competent players could probably completed nightmare modes in few weeks in comparison to the months of 25 hour/weeks I spent wiping on heroic Ragnaros or Firefighter. I think the difficulty of the first tier in Tor is justified for the very reason that bioware knew there would be obvious balancing issues when first launching this game. Skilled operatives have and will continue to beat all available content. Everything is just much easier on a Sorc healer.
  19. There is actually a very good chance of this happening. Nerfing Sorc would effect a majority of the healers in the game while ignoring Scound/Op will barely be notable in the grand scheme of things. I watched this happen for years in WoW as healing shamans were constantly left behind as Paladin soared. With so many other problems and balancing issues, fixing one of the least played classes might be low on the priority list.
  20. I would not recommend leveling as a operative healer. I leveled scoundrel heals from 1 to 50 and it was painfuly slow. The only good thing was the fact that you could pretty much solo any single mob including champions given enough time. Level as Concealment with a tank companion. She holds the mobs while you destroy them. When you finally get Hidden strike you will kill almost any normal mob in a hit and your leveling speed will be very quick. Operatives just do not do enough dps without talents to justify leveling as heals. I almost have my 3rd toon to 50 and leveling as a IA healer was by far the slowest process.
  21. Grouping in general while leveling is usually a time sink unless you know the people. It almost always involves having to wait for the group to form which can take sometimes 30 minutes. People jump in the group and they are on the other side of the map and want to turn in quests or finish up a quest before they come to you. Depending on the "mouth-breathing" severity of the group, you might not even be able to complete the heroic quest. Leveling in PvP is slow after the daily (esp is you're losing) and you will not earn the same money as questing. You also have to complete you class quest to do end game dailys so you will have to do some questing regardless. Also you will be valor capped by leveling through pvp for much of the process. The fastest possible way to level is as DPS skipping all heroic quests and not running flashpoints. The exception being you have competent leveling partner who has the same time commitment and goals as you.
  22. Pretty much this. Unless you are running Nightmare Modes and trying to look at Min/Max compositions it will hardly matter what you bring. Lets face it, the difficulty of PVE in this game at the moment is a absolute Joke. I have a 50 smuggler and and now almost 50 with my IA. I love the way the class plays. IA could use some buffs to key talents such as DS and AoE healing but the class is fun to play. Skill will always be greater than class.
  23. I also agree. I really like the dynamic music. Eg. you fight a epic character and dual of fates starts, but I also would like to have the option to have music playing all the time. I often listen to pandora while playing and would like to hear the game music more often.
