  1. First Marines....but damn I like your style. We can end the thread here.....go in peace....
  2. its not other countries I'd be worried about, its the swill.
  3. No, but it has been stated that our freedoms are absolutely secure without the need for the military, and that is what I believe he was answering. There are a couple of holes in the ground in New York that would like to have a word with you. ;p China, would have no option but to invade us, not as a conquerer, but to protect their national interest. With no one to stop them, this country would quickly become a sewer drain with every radical, warlike faction in the world moving in as fast as they could, to grab their piece of the pie. They would rise up here, gangs taking to the street to protect their "Turf". Warlords and dictators would rise up overnight. What we would see would be like a scene out of south Africa during the height of conflict, with convoys from different factions, armed to the teeth, rolling through our streets killing at will. It would be followed by a massive invasion from China, as an attempt to restore order, and very possibly countered by our allies in an attempt to preserve democracy (or in the reverse order). Final outcome would be WW III, with us as the prize. Regardless of outcome, our country, our way of life, would be over. This I agree with. its like a love-in, like "kiss a vet".....but its still all about ratings and we are the flavor of the month.
  4. Explain please. Are you suggesting that if we completely dissolved our military, removed all forms of protection for the society and our allies that we would remain as safe from attack as we are today? Is that your contention.....or are you just being a wise ***?
  5. You are attempting to fit a square peg into a round hole for the purposes of supporting a strongly failed thesis. Your contention was explained. The difference was demonstrated. The differences are clear. Arguing that it is not true because you do not want to accept those clear and distinct differences will not change the fact that they exist, that they define the difference, and that logic and common sense support them. One can argue that the world is flat, refuse to accept the reality, and create an entire thesis upon which one's argument rests if they choose. They can equally go off on tangents, continue to repeat their logical analysis, argue and refute the facts to the end of their days. It will not change the fact that the original premise was not sound enough to build a solid argument upon. You may believe as you wish, that is your right, but the contention presented, as a means of promulgating your personal belief into law or common knowledge, is not sufficiently supported and easily contended. Not trying to have an argument here, but it is what it is.
  6. Thanks. Was kinda wondering what the motivation for an incorrect statement was.
  7. Above all, yes. Absolutely.
  8. Welcome, proud to have done so....and its that simple. Not sure why there are people that feel a need to attempt to downgrade the importance of the military, or besmirch the noble sacrifice we made, make, for the greater good. Perhaps they do not understand it, or see some hidden agenda, or.....something. Most of us do not even think of expecting a "thank you", but we certainly do not believe that we have earned anyone's despise, or disparagement. LOL. Are people becoming that self involved, that self centered, that comfy and spoiled that they feel the need to diminish anything that is not them, diminish others that have done more then them in order to maintain that sense of self importance? I mean really, wha the fack?
  9. Neither do the vast majority of civilians risk dieing, and to a lesser extent. Quantity to qualify is not a relevant question. Your contention was that military service is no more worthy of note then say, a teacher, or mountain climber. I believe that I have successfully demonstrated the difference.
  10. Was that not a replacement issue, not a competing franchise.....and was it not a decision, not a necessity? Not sure, but that's what I have gathered, not that it was killed off by mass migration to another company or MMORPG. No?
  11. First to vote. LOL Mainly a raider. Have three characters raiding currently, but do PvP with alts or with guild on occasion.
  12. Honestly, none of us had, or have any idea as to what this game did or will do.....we merely grab the appropriate diploma (from are qualified list of degrees granted us as a norm for playing video games LOL), and begin to bloviate using conjecture, hyperbole, and good ole fashion guessing. LOL According to them and their financials, they are doing well, will continue on....but as you stated, balls in their court and time will tell.
  13. Voice overs-tried playing FFXIV, but it seemed primitive with the lips moving to scrolling text Companions-figting, armoring up, farming etc. Space- plenty of us that enjoy it. Represents instant housing. Modable armor-another reason that I cant play FFXIV. Slave to their armor designs ...and more. Though it has its issues, this game has done some revolutionary things, and has advanced the genre. There are things that we perhaps do not appreciate until we try another game that does not have them. ....and there is plenty of end game content, and growning.
  14. Military are not merely risking their lives, they are giving their lives up for the noble cause of protecting our freedoms, our country, our way of life. The "nobility" argument has to encompass all aspects including risk, reason, sacrifice. There in lies the difference. Big difference. Huge. Already been explained.
  15. Well, if you are comparing them to firefighters, or teachers, then you ARE talking about front line personnel....so one must compare front line jobs. Even if we do not, the military is still the most intrusive, most dangerous job on the planet. Hell, we lost more people setting up for desert storm then we did in the fight. At least half of those lost in the fight were non-combat positions. Even if we are speaking of school administrators, or emergency switchboard operators, Non-combat jobs in the military are still far more dangerous, far more intrusive. In a war zone, everyone is at risk whether they be a cook or an 0311. Those jobs are noble, but they are not military service.
  16. Well, on the surface, yeah. Teachers are not getting shot at while trying to teach. The nature of a teacher's job is not to face death. Fire Fighters (been there) risk their lives to save people, but again, they do not do that under fire, and they are not required to face certain death in order to save a building. Safety standards are in place, and firefighters would be pulled back and let a building burn before a squad was sent in to die.. No such thing in the military. You always face certain death.....and the stakes for failure are ultimately higher in the military. Further, neither profession is require to leave their home and family, go to some foreign land, live in the jungle, desert, sleep in the dirt, face dysentery, malaria, or face the most horrific circumstances imaginable....a place that would make Freddy Kruger and Jason huddle together and whimper. Teacher is a noble profession. Fire fighter is riskier, so yes, more noble. However, if a fire fighter protects people, and is considered noble, where does the guy that protects the protector stand? The military is the last line of defense, protector of the entire country, the most dangerous job on the planet, so yeah, they are entitled to a bit more recognition then a teacher, whose worst case scenario is sitting in traffic, or an unruly student. Not that they are not important, but yeah.....
  17. That's the first funny little bit of this parody I've read in all these, EBM. Thanks for the morning chuckle. LOL!
  18. You really should have left it along.....but you just can't resist. LOL Again, as "informed" as our other little skippy here, but citing news editorials, I'm sure from a select few ultra liberal sources that support what his educational system hide-away professor espoused. I mean really, the media? Again, kid, you have no idea what you are talking about, but are just regurgitating one side of a very complex issues, and all for the sake of bashing something that you hardly understand but have been taught to despise. You've bought into without question, following the extremist exact tactic of touching on a legitimate subject just enough to be able to twist it to your own end,, and then running with it as if it will be as unquestioned as it is in your little narrow halls of, er "higher learning"....but its not truth and its not accurate. I mean, really, do you not think that I could vilify the education system with equal ferver, cite the media, twist reality, regurgitate conjecture enough to make them seem like the villain? Think I can do that with just about any subject, organization, society? Wanna do Ford motor company? How about the insurance industry? Look, if you two donuts want to continue embarrassing yourselves with this grade school angst, then go right ahead. I'm sure that some high tolerance vet will indulge, and attempt to educate you....though I know from experience that its a waste of time. Most of us save our discussions about the pros and cons of the military, government intervention, political world theory for those with enough knowledge, education, and rational though to actually have that discussion without the silly catch phrases and spoon fed nonsense I'm seeing puked all over this board. Have a great day....my arse says hello. ;p
  19. Realy? There's your first post, skip. Would you like me to post your insulting, misinformed second one? ;p Look, you are a college kid, that has probably never even been out of your local town until college, being fed garbage by teachers that have probably never been out of the education system.....trying to tell seasoned veterans, that probably have food in their teeth that is older then you, that we are buying into propaganda.....all the while spouting nonsense that every fool from the hippies on down have regurgitated ad nasueam, and for decades, that is still as far fetched, dis-proven as it was then. do you think you are the first little robot we've seen? Do you think this is all original, like you have something to say that has not been said a thousand times before.....and almost word for word? You saw the opportunity to spout your anti American, anti Military nonsense, and took it. It happens every time military people speak, there is always those one or two that will bop in with frehsly washed brains, ready to denounce the evil and announce the conspiracy theories....talk about projecting. Look, let me give you a bit of advice. When you read something about a subject, rather then accept it as absolute, and then bloviating as if you have done anything more then regurgitate, read a a thesis from an opposing viewpoint that will provide a more well rounded understanding of a subject, read actual documented and scientific evidence.....and then do not try to preach to those that have enough experience and education on the subject to be your teacher's teacher.
  20. DAoC was the, hands down, best realm v realm PvP ever invented. I actually kept a sub open over there when I played Wow, just to PvP. Unfortunatly, I'm a raider first and didn't have the time to do both so went to wow.
  21. I can understand that. Used to get to me also. Then one day I realized that most of these anti-military jackwagons have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. They are just trolling for an argument, feeding their own emotional dysfunction and attempting to use us as bait to feed that. They can argue with my arse. Maybe it will listen. LOL
  22. Perhaps you missed the part where I said to kiss my arse?
  23. ....and i would like to add a big fat kiss my arse to this explanation. ;p
  24. You contend that our freedoms are not at risk and, that it is just our paranoia, then support that contention by stating that we are far too powerful for someone to even try. Quick question there skippy, what do you think that power is? Mickey and Donald holding up the Disney flag on space mountain? LOL Don't answer that, because I don't give a rats arse. As I stated before. If you don't like us, kiss my arse. If you don't like that some of us put our service in our signature, kiss my arse. if you don't like that we are proud service people, well then kiss my arse.....and for future reference, kiss my arse. We owe you nothing, least of all an explanation for our pride. Green?
