  1. Actually no. If the item takes 5 bars that sell for 20k, then making a purple and selling it for 80k is not a good economic decision, regardless of what you paid.. Even if you paid 1c each, taking materials that would sell for 100k and selling them as something that would sell for 80k is a 20k mistake. Ofc people are free to make economic decisions, in game and out, regardless of whether they are wise.
  2. The problem is TH Mission Boxes are BoP and require level 51. Please don't be like WoW and actively attack crafting alts. My TH is a lower level crafter will not be 51 for quite some time TH does not seem Op atm. These only come from TH mission that are >400 so anyone who gets them has already paid the $10 or $20 RotHC. I see little harm and much benefit if you made these boxes B2L or removed the level cap. I don't know of any other profession that requires a level so I am hoping this was just a mistake and can be easily fixed. Regardless, I would appreciate it if this was fixed.
  3. Thanks for the update! I guess anything is better than nothing, but in all the missions I ran, i got a Holi instead of a Myth which sold for 10k then and still 4-5k. So even if you doubled the vendor price of Holi, the bug would still have been costly. A limited-time vendor trade in of Holi for myth would seem much more fair. I.e., I am more focused on the 10k each I lost rather than whether I can get an additional 200 credits. If you give me replacement Myth, then there is not a currency inflation issue as well. Even more frustrating was that these things I will vendor are coming from a crit, which is supposed to make me happy. These crits turned my April 10th Myth into cheap April 20th vendor trash.

  5. The GTN is not excessively full featured: BW, please remember this when creating new items. E.g., there is no way (that I know of) to see carbonic crystals without also getting perfects. Same for major experience which also gets major space experience, major class .... However, if they had been named small carbonic crystals and large/perfect carbonic crystals we could search for them. A bit of forethought at item creation would help us with little cost to BW. Ofc, fixing the gtn to allow exact searches would be nice. But proper naming does not require programmers or QA.
  6. Ofc the levels are irrelevant, RotHC could have added 10 levels, each with half the existing XP and it would have been the same game. I also think that publishers are getting away from large expansions; quicker is preferred over big and slow. i would much prefer, for example, 20 hours of new content every quarter than 120 hours every 6 quarters, even though many would complain. It's content per year that is important, not content per patch. Hopefully BW can continue to make progress on that front.
  7. The two times where I see this are: where I had not noticed that I had learned it It was not made by me (e.g. GTN purchase) You can r/e but no chance of learning.
  8. Mea culpa! (a/k/a derp) As someone currently being ravaged by World of Grindcraft, I had forgotten about rep for legacy. TYVM
  9. Y'all are just confusing me again. Usually, leather and handcuffs are a good thing. Do you think it is a coincidence that Bioware put Sith Dueling Leathers in the game or held the recent SF Cantina on SF Bay Area Leather Alliance Weekend? But these being tightly bound to my account would be a bad thing. very bad. very sad.
  10. I just opened a cartel pack on the toon I happened to be on. A lot of the items had the traditional "this item is bound to you for..." message. But the new reputation trophies (e.g. banned holovids, confiscated artwork) just say "bound"? Is this just a bug? This would be very unfortunate if they really were BoP. B2L would be fine and BoE is always preferred. BoP makes kittens cry.
  11. Also the account bug is not fixed Set to "cartel market items" and enter "account" - it fails enter "(account)" or "(ac" and it works. As these help bioware get RL$, I would have expected this bug to have been fixed by now.
  12. numbers - I want barrel 17 but you want let me do that? But you will let me search the entire category (leave search blank) I don't quite see how letting me search the entire category with no filters is that much less computation than letting me search with a two-character filter field. Requiring 3 letter search fields is annoying in 2013 on my SSD 16 GB ram multicore laptop, but understandable - performance is important as well as flexibility. But the *each word* part is bizzare & surprising. I..e. disallowing "el" is one thing but disallowing a long search term because it contains a token less than 3 is bad. Maybe you have some internal tuple index, but allowing "adv" but not "advanced fortitude 17" is counter-intuituve and unwelcome
  13. re http://www.swtor.com/blog/announcing-star-wars-old-republic-community-cantina-tour Is the January San Francisco still going to happen and has the date been finalized? TIA
  14. First off, thank you BioWare on the latest bug fixes on the GTN. However. Re "any" for rarity. To quote The Princess Bride, "I don't think you know what that word means." Did you mean none instead of any? No matter how junior, what designer, developer or QA engineer would think that you should see fewer choices when you change the rarity selector from Prototype to Any? Which is still the current behavior, although the recent patch means fewer people will encounter the bug since it starts with standard. If you are not going to correct the GTN behavior, at least change the text from any to none or "this is not the rarity you are looking for"
  15. Thanks for the update and the efforts.
  16. In 1.2, there is a bug in the GTN e.g., select Miscellaneous and search is disabled. (Googling shows selecting cheap will allow you to browse all the items.) Tuesday, that bug was extended to also apply to Crafting materials - you can't browse salvaging materials without first choosing a rarity besides any. Perhaps it is a txt issue - the word they meant in the rarity drop down was "none" not "any?" I have gone thru the Kubler-Ross stages: Tuesday was anger, Wed was denial, I logged in expecting it to have been corrected. I am on to disappointed acceptance. I have two theories: 1) It was just abysmal SQA (software quality assurance) that nobody tested out changing categories and trying to press search. 2) There is Crafting/GTN are not a priority for BW and nobody who understands crafters/economy develops the use cases the designers are working on. Do you think it is #1 or #2? My "elder gaming" is crafting. ( Which is the only completely fair PvP in any MMO. ) I understand but do not like that the conventional wisdom is that gaming means KonsoleKitties, PvP & CoD. ( My personal opinion is that the crafters are the ones who will stick around for years while it is the ADD PvPers who will soon be jumping to the new FOTM be it GW2, Terra, SW, ... ) BW does not owe me a good crafting & economic gameplay. But it makes me sad it is not a high priority for BW. This week was the first time since December when I sat down at my computer, I logged onto WoW before TOR.
  17. I think an overlooked point is this is not the only MMO out there. When I want to PUG, then I do it it WoW. They have much better tools for that. If I want to level alts mostly solo, I play TOR. A friend in I did both DW LFR raids last night on two toons each all the while talking in Mumble we wish we were leveling lowbies.
  18. yes please. Crafters were out of slots in November. Six Imps, one for each crafting skill, an Imp bank/GTN alt and a Pub bank/GTN alt.
  19. You can make transfers to dead servers work since BW can make any server undead. If there were free server mergers to Realm#117 then it seems self-fulling. I expect the free mergers to work so I take the transfer so it works so others see and believe and transfer and ... But ofc some servers need to go away.
  20. QFT This needs to be fixed ASAP.
  21. What are you design goals for the value of WZ-specific knowledge for success? My opinion is the thing that makes Huttball so innovative is the reason why I like it the least. ( I level some alts 1-49 with solo pugging WZ due to LFG & Daily; never will PvP @ 50 for the obvious reasons. ) Huttball seems to be much more of a team sport; experience in that particular WZ is valuable . Whereas I think anyone who has run around Arathi Basin will not be that confused about Alder; victory will tend to go to better combat PvP skills combined with cross-game PvP skills (fight near node, don't trickle in,...) There is no right answer, just personal taste. I do think that the more you make teamwork but especially WZ-specific skills, the less well it works in PUGs. And especially where one of the two sides could be on-Mumble premades. People lining up so you can do 5 immediate passes is wonderful teamwork but not quite what I consider PvP. On the other hand, pre made 50 rated WZs need things much more interesting than deathmatches. IMO, what makes good map for rated teams makes a frustrating map for solo pugs where the knowledge of your teammates is much more variable. Is there any desire to reflect the differences between pugs and rated teams with the maps they are offered?
  22. I hated what the WoW Zombie event did to my bank alts so I will never be thrilled with anything along the same lines. So my immediate and visceral reaction was to loathe it. But it wasn't too bad. I still see little benefit to my level 10 alts dieing in front of the GTN. The way the mobs scaled to your level was quite clever! I am not a big fan of Bind-On-Annoying like the DNA. It's not BoP or B2L so if I can mail it and sell it and trade it, why can't I put it on the GTN? Like many commenters, the RNG on the custom outfits seemed a bit too random. Perhaps a bit like Cata JC tokens - you could buy a random outfit for X or a specific outfit for 400% of X? For me, alts have the potential to remove the fun from these events. Thinking I really should do 12 scavenging tasks on five toons has the potential to make me do it on zero. I.e., more B2L rewards are nice. If you announce an event is over 2 AM Tuesday, my alts should not be dieing on Tues and Wed. While I guess the one time nature of this is cool, unless you have an unlimited budget then I think going forward that annual live events are the most efficient in terms of making them special and time-sensitive with some reusability. Putting a boss in the outlaws den on PvE servers is quite annoying. Having no PvE servers in your game (e.g. EVE) is perfectly valid (for publishers that want a niche game). But what is the point of forcing non-consentual PvP on people who deliberately chose to avoid it? It sure seems like the designers are out-of-touch with people who, unlike them, would roll on a PvE server; or they are deliberately trying to be annoying. I was disappointed the containment gear was unusable for me because it required Social I. What is not fixable was that it was light armor.
  23. This is not rocket science.; we can learn from other games. MoP has addressed the ninja looting. Who you are running with and what they roll has ZERO impact on the loot you get.
