  1. I finally got to 60 on my Operative, im not interested in pve at all, just pvp. So far I got 6 armor pieces, mainhand and offhand and 2 relics(all Exhumed Enforcer's). Armor and weapon/offhand are already augmented with lvl 58 skill augs(I use adaptive armor). Today I will get the missing pieces(implants, ear and 7th armor piece) and Im starting to work towards Dark Reaver pieces. But before I do, I would like to ask you, my fellow operatives,, what stats(crit, surge, accuracy(?) alacrity) should I be aiming for if it comes to both, lethality and concealment. If I like playing both specs, will I need 2 diferent armor sets? Or can I "build" my stats in a way that will work in both spec?
  2. My Operative is lvl 58 right now, I've been leveling mostly as Lethality as that was the spec more appealing to me, I tried Concealment at low levels but didnt like it much then. After lvl 50 tho, I started respeccing into Concelment more often and I have to say that for pve leveling, concealment is hands down better. Problem wiht lethlaity is that with limited AOE, long setup and horrible dot spreading its a pain usually to deal with trash mobs. Corrosive Assault deals rather medicore dps on its own(if the target isnt dotted). While every dps skill in concealment deals high instant damage so killing trash mobs is easy and fast, especially that you can often oneshot them on crit. For pvp I find immunity on roll much better than free heal if it comes to survivalablility. Also long setup of Lethality makes it aqward sometimes. Sometimes when I see a low health enemy I hasitate what to do as dotting/setting up for Corrosive assault is very long. And there is that god forsaken dot spread. I still love Lethality, despite its problems, but I have to say that Concealment is really starting to grow on me.
  3. Yeah I remember the concealment video, that was... horror ^^. He played it like a ranged class. And as for dot spamming, I completly agree. I did lately an "experiment" with Lethality Operative, I just run around dotting everybody for the whole warzone, doing nothing else, just keeping dots on all enemies in sight and throwing hots on allies. I topped the charts on both damage and heals by a huge margin but I accomplished absolutely nothign during that warzone. We lost of course, but the funniest thing was that I got like 4 mvp votes lol. Kinda sad. On the othe hand I had some games where it felt like I won the game on my own, stealing nodes, defending on my own agains 2-3 ppl, preventing from capping, just doing a lot of usefull stuff that had huge impact on the game outcome, yet all the mvp votes went to some hatred assasin who spend whole time dot spreading mindlesly. Sad how many ppl are interested only in topping dps charts.
  4. Just pick the class that is the most appealing to you. Get some orange adaptive gear(you can buy some pieces from GTM - galactic trade market cheap), use basic commendations that you get from quests to buy armorings, mods, enchancements, hilts/barrels from commendation vendors available on each planet or in the fleet, every few levels. As for companions, use whatever gear drops you will get and supplement with some cheap pieces from GTM. At level 10 you can learn crew skills at fleet. Pick Slicing and one or two gathering skills(Scavenging, Archeology, Bioanalisys) and gather nodes that you stumble upon while, leveling. Sell materials on the market and you should not have any problems with credits.
  5. What you see him doing on your server and what he shows in videos may be two diferent things. I watched all his 3.0 lethality vids and I dont see anywhere mindless dot spam beside maybe few first minutes in one vid. He also seems to pump up quite good damage in his vids, not dot spam fluffy damage as your comment suggests. Seems to me like some ppl may have have some personal grudge with him or something, cos what you guys say about him, simply doesnt have any reflection in his videos. Quite opposite.
  6. Could you point me to the videos(beside first 3 minutes of voidstar vid) where he is doing all those things like spamming dots or not using weakening blast? Seriously, cos this is not the first time I hear that opinion about him, but I dont see it in his videos. I just seen 2 of his videos from Civil War on Lethality Operative and I dont see any dot spam. I also see him constantly using weakening blast in his rotation, he is even specifically saying NOT to spam mindlessly dots, he also stops vid at one point to highlight that you should finish primary target(low health target) first. Thats video from 29th december.
  7. This thread is simply a big, fat advertisement for OP's refferal link. He didnt even try very hard to make it not look like advertisement. Just 2 sentences with "tips" and then straight to "bussiness". I especially like how he wrote "Oh yeah and dont forget to use refferal links" and then big USE MY REFFERAL LINK in the signature
  8. I personally like gathering skills (arch, bio, scav). They all have type of materials that sell between few hundret to 1-2k credits(sometimes more) depending on material grade(often lower grade mats sell better then higher). You keep sending companions on gathering missions while doing something else, and then just dump everything on GTM every few days. Im sure its not the best/fastest way to make credits, but its good, steady money, with very little effort.
  9. I watched all his videos and I dont really see him advocating dot spam tactics. In this voidstar video both teams were a bit crappy tbh. In that particullar circumstances I think he did ok. It may look in first 3 minutes like just a dot spam tactics but I still think there was not much he could do diferently, if he go in for close range to execute his corrosive assault he would die in seconds in that cluster****. But enough about that. I completely agree with you. You dont relaly help your tem if you hang back just dotting everything that moves, especially on classes like Lethlaity Op or Hatred sin. When I was leveling my Hatred sin not long ago, I did a "test" once, I spent whole warzone just running around and using 3 skills basiclaly, dots and spread. I ended up at the top of damage charts, with over 2 times more dps than second second player on the list. We lost that warzone badly and despite huge numbers i was just a dead weight formy team. Unfortunatelly too many ppl seems to belive that the goal of every warzone is to be on top of damage charts :/ Does anybody actually use that skill? I removed it form my quickbars around lvl 15. Dont even remember whats the name of it lol.
  10. OP asked if anybody has any success with Lethality Operative since all his friends told him its a waste of time. Now, I cannot really answear that since Im still leveling my Operative as well, so dont have a personal experienc ein this matter(how viable operative is). SO I mentioned the WIzbasky videos, not as some kind of Operative guru, but becouse from where Im sitting it seems he is doing quite fine with this class and as he mentiones many times he feels quite strong. As for Voidstar video, yeah, in the first 3 minutes he mostly stays at range and dots ppl, heals himself, trying to stay alive. Now, as I just came bace to the game a month ago, and im nto a pvp expert, as far as i know Voidstar (defending stage) is about not letting enemy team to plant bombs and destroy the doors, not about killing ppl. Maybe Im horribly wrong but for me he played quite well. He didnt mindlessly rush/tunneled just to execute his rotation, he just tried to stay alive and prevent enemies from capping(he and his team failed, but that a diferent story). If you watch it again you will see that the enemy team was clumped together there, if he rushed in just to start corrosing assault to kill somebody, he probably would be focused and bursted down, which almost happens around 3rd minute when he goes in for a moment. So I think his playstyle was kinda smart there, he didnt focus on killing enemies, he didnt tunnelled but mostly he tried to stay alive and prevent from capping. Which voidstar is all about when you are defending. He kept dotting up, throwing granade and helaing up, simply cos those are the only long range options on this spec. But going mindlessly into close range just to try kill somebody and use your rotation, when there is a big chance you gonna get focused and die in seconds, doesnt seems smart to me. But again, I didnt mention his videos cos I belive his some kind of operative or generally pvp expert, no. But imho his videos show that Operative can do quite good in end game pvp, and arent a "waste of time" as OP's friends claimed. Of course I may be wrong
  11. Are your friends playing Lethality Operative, or they say its crap cos thats what they heard? Just curious You said the magic words - "I just like the way it plays". This is the most importand thing. Basing class choice on whats overpowered or underpowered is a worst thing ppl do. Cos whats the point playing anything if you dont like class mechanics. Unless you are one of those ppl who only take joy in facerolling others above anything else. I try to not pay too much attention to what ppl say. When 3.0 hit, for the first few days everybody was whining how AP powertech is OP, then the whine moved onto Sorcerrers, now Assassins seem to be public enemy number one. Maybe tommorow some skilled player with great group will post a vid of Lethality Operative facerolling warzones and everybody will start whining about them ^^ Bottomline is, if you enjoy your operative, than stuck with it. You are close to 60, so you will be able to see for yourself if Operative is as crap as your friends say. I just came back to game month ago, rolled a bunch of different classes and leveled them a bit just to see what I enjoy playing the most. Ended up with Hatred Assassin and Leathality Operative. FIrst is lvl 52 now and Operative is only lvl 15 but Im levelign him next in few days. I dont care if they are OP or UP or if some kids whine "another Hatred assassin". Im having fun with them and thats what matters. You can check youtube in last month, there was some guy(WIzbasky or something) making few vids of Lethality Operative in lvl 60 warzones, it looks like he was doing pretty fine.
  12. How is your gear? You may wanna think about getting adaptive armor and fill it with modifications that you can buy with basic commendations(commendation vendors on planets or fleet) every few levels. It makes a difference. Picking up commendations from quest rewards and doing some heroics/flashpoints along the way, should give you enough to buy full set of moddifications for adapitive gear every 6 levels or so. THat should help with not only survivalability but also killing stuff faster.
  13. Make both and level them up to a bit to lvl 10-15. By that time you should get a general idea of the playstyle of each class. Fun is the most importad factior, not what is "the best". I came back to the game few weeks ago and decided to start with new char on empire side(played as republic commando at release). I made like 5 diferent characters and leveled them to 12-16. I ended up falling in love with assassin, a class that I didnt even considered playing before as I never was a "stealthy" type . But I absolutely love the playstyle and class mechanics.
  14. Yes, method described by Darkelefantos lets you "transfer" commendations between characters. I was in similiar situation as you, came back recently to the game and started new character, had around 400 basic commendation on my old character. I logged on my old char, I went to fleet, found basic comendation modification vendors and bought bunch of random armorings(7 commendation per 1). Then I went to my stronghold and dropped them into legacy storage. Relloged on my new character, went to the stronghold, picked up the armorings from legacy storage and sold them back to the vendor. But you can simply just mail the modifications from old char to new char. Just remember to resell them inside of 2 hours from purchasing. And I used the commendations for gearing up my new character(and companion), while leveling.
  15. I recently came back to game and decided to roll a new char on Imperial side(my main was Commando when I played back at release). So same as you I made couple of diferent characters and leveled them to around 15-20. I liked Bounty Hunter, but I absolutelly felt in love with Assassin. And thats the character I decided to take all the way. For me its mostly about fun gameplay(class mechanics). Other things like story or voice acting have rather secondary importance, altho they are importand as well. But gameplay/class mechanics are hands down most importand. I love Assassin(Hatred) as its kinda mix of melee with ranged abilities, has good single target damage and aoe, powerful dots, great mobility, self healing(or rather leeching as the more damage you dela with certain abilities the more you heal yourself) and of course stealth, which is not only helpful while leveling, It prowides a lot of fun in pvp. I rolled a male Inquisitor first, but couldnt stand the male voice actor(imho, if a frog could speak, it would sound exacly like male inquisitor ;P) so I rerolled female right away and I never looked back, doesnt matter whay option I chose, it seems like she nails perfectly every line. Story s also pretty cool. So I think you should ask yourself which class gameplay/mechanics do you like the best, cos great story and epic voice acting may not be enough to stick with a character if you wont enjoy the gameplay/combat. As for Juggernaut, Im not a specialist, but you can play it as DPS and from whay I read, its pretty strong in that depertment.
  16. Question to the OP. Have you been doing stuff like flashpoints, warzones, space missions, group heroics or did you only do solo questing? Cos questing alone/only can ideed be very boring, but there is so many other things to do as well. I came back to the game after 2 years break(I played in beta and at release) and I honestly have a problem with deciding what to do first every evening. Usually I do couple of space missions, then run a flashpoint and then move to questing while I queue up for couple of warzones along the way. This way I dont feel bored at all, I acutually wish I had more tyme for playing. I also level 2 diferent characters, so If get bored a bit of my Bounty Hunter I just jump onto my Assassin for some lightsabre action But If you tried all the things and you still feel bored. Then maybe this game just isnt for you Nothing wrong with that.
  17. Heh, stupid me. I only tried it outside of combat before posting here. Just tried it again while in combat and its perfectly noticable there. Thank you guys for explanation!
  18. Is the speed bonus on Hydraulic Overrides actually working? I just got this skill and I dont see any difference in movement speed when activating. I even tried to run next to some other player and activating it and I didnt "gain" on him. Tried testing with timer in my hand - the distance covered with and without HO during 6 seconds seems the same. Even if my "methods" are far from perfect, 30% bonus is high enough number to be clearly noticable, but I dont see any diference.
  19. When players are complaining about almost every class, which happens here, then there is a pretty good chance that game is fairly balanced Each class beside of mara/sentinel seems to have some OP/FOTM spec according to the forums.
  20. Struggled with this quest myself. Somebody told me to send Mako on a mission first as she fires first and evrybody attaks you becous of that. It help, partially. WIthout Mako I aggroed only one bounty hunter at first but as soon as one of them died, the rest turned on me again. This is what finally worked for me - I have send Mako on a mission before entering area. Then when the battle started, I run as far from the platform as possible. Only one bh attacked me(the chick that you small talk to before the fight). By the time I killed her, there was only one another bh left on platform as they killed each other.
