  1. Vader was stronger. Anakin didn't reach his true potential until he became Vader. Though his cybernetics meant he could no longer throw lightning, that was somewhat of a moot point since he could throw everything else in the room at you. His anger more than made up for it.
  2. I believe Luke went into hiding to avoid the truth coming out about his family and to protect Leia.
  3. Kylo Ren is Ezra Bridger. He's been in carbon freeze through the OT. You heard it here first.
  4. PS It's likely that Lucas would have rewritten or invalidated a lot of EU stuff had he made the next 3 episodes. He has a history of disregarding major EU themes with his newer movies. The movies are top priority in terms of canon, everything else flows from them.
  5. I believe Kylo and Rey are siblings, with Han and Leia as parents, and there is a strong rumor that Finn is related to Lando. Though what has been published in EU has been made non-canon, Disney has stated that they very well may explore some of the ideas that came out of EU work.
  6. I think you're missing the point. The point is that there can be NEW content in those old areas very easily with level sync. Are they support to make new planets every time they want to add content? This is a good way for them to do it.
  7. Level sync is in the game so that devs can pipe through new content in original areas. We're already seeing it with the Alliance Alerts. Everything else being discussed are really just the side effects of that decision. I am personally OK with it - I like having a good story based reason to go back to Tatooine.
  8. Level sync is there so that devs can pipe new content and quests into the original areas. it's a good way to handle it - if you leave players at current level then they blow through it all, but then dropping high level npcs in the middle of a low level area isn't a good way to go either. We're already seeing this with the Alliance alerts - in my opinion this plus future content plans are the real reason for level sync.
  9. No, I think you are all missing the main point, which is that we are going to see more content coming in on the original planets. Level sync is an elegant way of being able to reuse areas without either making players too OP if levels are left the same, or dropping high level NPCs in the middle of a low level area. We are already starting to see content on original planets coming through in the form of the Alliance alerts. I'm expecting that we'll see much more in future chapters.
  10. I think there is going to be a glut, a bubble in the market so to speak, because companion gear no longer matters and the new companions don't have gear customization slots. the market for enhancements, armor, mods etc is probably going to stagnate for a little while until the current inventory cycles out - again due to lower demand since these are no longer needed for companions. Don't get me wrong though - I love the fact that I don't have to worry about companion gear levels and only appearance matters. But I just think it's going to take time for the markets to stabilize. I wonder also, if there is a market for greens on the galnet as there is for green quality items in WoW due to disenchanting. Does reverse engineering return components or otherwise level-up skills when performed? Is there a chance that reverse engineering greens can return a rare component? I think these are the questions that need to be dealt with to ensure a vibrant market on the galnet. I've had a tough time selling greens and that's just on pricing them at the default values. So far the only thing I've been able to sell consistently since 4.0 are dyes. It's early days yet, though, probably will take a couple of months before we have an idea of what the impact on economy has been due to the changes.
  11. "are you dying? Can I have your stuff??"
  12. Regardless of the content of the OP, the tone in which it was presented comes off as a rant and makes it hard to take seriously. I think there are a number of players who simply don't like change, who have invested so much time and effort and they (perhaps understandably) view these changes as making their previous work invalid. Nobody likes to feel like they've wasted time. But in times like these, when there are such major and fundamental changes, I try to look at it from the perspective of the company and what they are trying to achieve. Here are some of my thoughts on KOTFE as an off and on player since launch: - Level sync is fne, in my opinion. You'll still facestomp everything for the most part. Level sync is needed due to the way they integrated the original content into the Alliance system. Which then brings me to... - Old content has been freshened up with the Alliance system. Having the star fortresses over each planet forms a solid premise for directing players back to those old worlds. Ever wish you had a current, story-based reason to go back to Tatooine? Well, now you do, and what you accomplish there contributes to... - The new companion system. I for one like it. Just the shift to selectable dps/tank/heal roles for companions makes everything else worth it. FINALLY, you can choose the companion you feel like playing rather than the one you HAVE to play. - The multitude of new contacts, associates, companions, etc., has really freshened things up. Yes, some original companions will have to be re-earned as part of the ongoing story. I don't view this as a negative, especially since they give you two of the companions people were hoping for, Lana and Theran, and they are both awesome. When I get Kira back at some point, it will mean that much more considering the good times we had from 1-60 and all the time that had been invested in building my influence with her. I can see how this might put some people off initially, but really if you look at it in terms of the story and factor in all of the other companions you're getting, you may find that it adds some spark and incentive to the story. - Companion gear and appearance - don't know about you but I grew tired of having to worry about gearing multiple companions. On most of my alts I simply picked the healing companion and geared that one above all others. yes, the companions with their selectable roles are now basically the same thing with different models. I do hope for some differentiation in terms of their abilities, but again the focus has shifted towards convenience when it comes to companions so overall I like this change. - New leveling system with the focus on storyline missions is awesome. - The new music arrangements based on all the previous themes are really nice. Things I hope can be improved: - I think there are way too many abilities. If I use all 12 buttons on my razer naga, plus an additional 12 with SHIFT modifier, and I STILL don't have enough for all the abilities I need, then in my mind that's just too much. Abilities need to be pared down, and some of them consolidated into Passive talents. - It would have been good to see some variety in the Star fortresses in terms of the map layout and the mechanics for destroying them. - Relating to the new leveling system - I love being able to blow through planets just doing starter missions. But there is a lot of good content in those side missions. I don't know what the incentives are to go ahead and complete them, but if there are any they need to be more obvious to the players. - Nothing was done with the space game, either the original missions or Starfighter. I was never a big fan of Starfighter but it would have been nice to see something done with the original set of missions. I thought they were a worthy mini-game and a nice diversion. I would have liked to see some space missions added to the storyline, even if only as bonus objectives. - The graphics have taken a noticeable jump up in quality, but in some areas (particularly star fortresses) there is a large frame-rate hit, and it seems like too big of a hit compared to the increase in graphics. OPtimization needed I think. Overall, I think a nice foundation for taking the game forward with rapid content updates has been created. It appears that a lot of work has been done in terms of game systems, loot, leveling, etc to enable that. Let's hope the content comes fast and furiously now. The new story, though fairly straightforward, is well executed.
  13. Level sync is a fairly big departure from most MMOs, but thinking on it some more I think it will actually be pretty cool. Being able to bounce from planet to planet to do the exploration missions, and have them appropriately challenged (and rewarded) based on level should be fun. Can break up the tedium.
  14. GL took a stab at it once by saying that the galaxy was so advanced that tech improvements only came in small increments going forward; hyperspace travel was the peak of technology. I've also seen it described as hyperspace travel effectively making the galaxy smaller; poorer and less advanced civilizations were lifted up, while the most advanced tended to slow down their advancements due to integration with other societies and of course space taxes. Because as you know, taxes stifle innovation.
  15. There are also rumors that there will be princess leia flashbacks, so if they are putting in flashbacks as a storytelling method in these new movies I wouldn't rule it out. To be honest I'd love to see Hayden get another crack at it with some good dialogue to deliver; I always thought he had a bit of a raw deal with the way the PT was written.
  16. my understanding is that at the end of KOTFE we will see signs of a previously unknown race with outlandish bio-technology. This race will be from another galaxy and will have a very militaristic society, based on a twisted version of honor, that makes them believe they are predestined to rule the universe. This invasion force will only be the vanguard of a greater force amassed in darkspace; it will be up to the republic and empire to work together to repel this force and prevent or at least greatly delay the greater force to come. But with this species being absent from the Force, do the Jedi have a chance?
  17. I actually thought Vader's voice was good, the inflection and pronunciation was spot on, better than recent DV voice acting in games like The Force Unleashed. But it needed a bit more bass processing to make it lower. They did a great job of making Vader seem like an overwhelming, frightening villain. They could do absolutely nothing against him and were lucky to get away. Felt like the Empire Strikes Back Vader, I was expecting him to strangle that admiral through the holo... Since The Clone Wars is considered canon, that means Asajj Ventress is canon, and her storyline was unresolved in TCW ... would be cool to see her make a comeback, maybe as an inquisitor? I thought of her first when the emperor said to send another one.
  18. Why would JJ have to greenlight or approve the SWTOR trailer? What kind of position does he hold where they have to run it by him?
  19. Can we please have the galaxy map that was on the Mass Effect Andromeda trailer.... thanks in advance!
  20. Treek was exterminated by SCORPIO who identified her as a rodent.
  21. We don't know if the Fleets will even exist after 60 since time will have advanced and the republic and empire are severely weakened. Still though, it should be easy enough to find a device to let us play the old ops at higher difficulty - such as running them as a simulation or battle training - like a holodeck.
  22. I agree, from what it looks like in the interview, the 12x XP is likely going to be a permanent thing. It's too bad that the side quests can't somehow be repurposed into rep, as they seem to be shifting philosophy towards for the xpac, because there is genuinely good stuff there. But much like the Draenor expansion this is basically going to be a new game and a new starting point for people and all of their focus will be there. It's almost like a SWTOR 2.
  23. Well we know now that your character is stuck in carbonite at the start of KotFE. My guess is that we'll find him in carbonite and that will explain how he hasn't aged in 30 years.
