  1. What will happen after the 20th? Well, if the game doesn't make a miraculous change then it will stay the same. People level at a different speed. When "slower" people get to 50 and realize the complainers had a point... then they will be here trying to give feedback and complain. Ofc new fanbois will argue until they too realize the futility of this game. Meanwhile the population of the servers will shrink until it reaches equilibrium at probably a very low level of players.
  2. I wouldn't really have a problem with little to no end-game content, as long as the content that existed was meaningfull and somewhat hard. It took a long time to go through MC and Onyxia that WoW started with. Getting attunements alone for some places was an epic task. Rep grinding was a little of a grind... but it felt worthwhile. Here there is nothing that gives me the feeling it is worth doing.

  4. It might have to do with how the email is setup. If you have a character named "Billiebob" and setup a an email called billiebob@something.com then it isn't hard to start guessing the right emails. I bet they scan the swtorsite and just make up emails from forumnames.
  5. Actually, put a "Star Wars"-sticker on the computers and fanbois would jump on the deal. Probably pay extra for a statue and book as well.
  6. The "This game is new, give it a chance to mature" always cracks me up. What is beta for if not to fix the game? It has been developed for years! When you release a product you do it because you think it is finished. A company that releases an unfinished product doesn't deserve any symphaty.
  7. There was some post by BW that they wouldn't implement server forums due to "not being able to moderate it".
  8. Getting almost 3 lvl 50 is crazy. I got to lvl 50 with one and realized this game was meaningless. Haven't logged in for almost 2 weeks now. Maybe the OP should do the same. This game will probably never go F2P, however much it might suck.
  9. Think I read in some thread you could just join a pvp battle and then get kicked... and bam you are kicked to fleet. Dunno if it works since I quit.
  10. Actually, I kinda hate Star Wars. The 3 older movies were good but the new stuff is crap. I bought this game because it was BW and cost a bundle to make. I figured an expensive MMO must be good, right? Well, seems not.
  11. I think this early it is better to nerf one thing down than put in alot of time trying to make the others better. Nerfing is the easier solution. After the bugs are done they might revisit.
  12. Yes, it is impossible to say when and if they will make a profit. But I think the amount of subscriptions after 3 months will say alot if it is successful or not. First month most who aren't interested in the game will quit, so the biggest drop will be then. But not all bought it at the same time. Then there is the fact that some that quit have bought 3 month gamecards they won't use more than sporadically. So, only after a few months will it be possible to determine a baseline for future subs. Then you can compare to that baseline if the game grows in coming months or declines.
  13. Yeah, I agree they started really well with the initial sales. Merchandising and expansions will depend alot on how many subs they get. I have already cancelled my sub but I hope they do well. If it had only been EA I would have wanted them to burn in hell, but I want BW to do well atleast. Time will tell how it will turn out. By the end of this month we will know a little more. After 3 months we will know alot more.
  14. I think you missed the point. There is no quarantee TOR will make a profit. There is always risk involved and we don't really know how the profits get divided among investors, EA, BW and vendors. The amount of people working on this and staff, customer support, server, bandwidth etc aren't free. They will need a certain playerbase to make enough money to feel it is worth it. Having a designer "stuck" on a project this size means he can't spend his time on other projects that might be more profitable. Spending the cash that they have on this game is a gamble. They will probably earn it back or most of it atleast... but will the profit overall be worth the time and effort?
  15. It is not just about making a profit on this game. It is about making more money than you would have made if you made another game instead. If BW hadn't made TOR they might have made 2-3 profitable games instead. Sure, they don't have the possible revenue of TOR but they were probably safer bets.
  16. Those saying this game has more content than WoW started with are plain wrong. Content isn't just how many raids, warzones etc a game has. It is about how much there is to do in the game. How long it takes to do that stuff and how much you can immerse youself in your character and environment. WoW took alot longer to play than TOR. People spent alot more exploring the world in WoW than is possible here. Everything took longer... and felt more like an achievement to me. In ToR you can pretty much go through all the content in the free month. That wasn't possible in WoW. How long was it before Ragnaros was killed? Do you remember the feeling to actually kill him after months of progressing through MC? Why would anyone feel like they achieved something when they didn't have to struggle for it? Content in WoW made you want to do it again... and again... and again. You wanted to farm early bosses in MC and Onyxia to be able to kill later bosses that dropped really "nice" gear. Here you don't get any such feeling from the so-called-content. Just my 2 cents.

  19. I think it is hard to give an unbiased opinion if you think TOR will fail or not. Personally I think the game sucks more than a $5 ******. I have a hard time to see that people will want to play the game after the "story" is played through. Though the same might be said for those that like the game. If you feel this is the best thing to happen since sliced bread then you would expect others to like it. We just have to wait and see how much retention the game will get. After the first 1-3 months it should be pretty clear how the game is doing. I don't think it will be F2P anytime soon, if ever, but I don't think it will be a great hit either. I doubt EA/BW will be happy with the revenue.
  20. No reason for you to argue about PvP being faster to gear up or PvE. Next month and the months after that you will all argue why you are all full-decked out and there is no better gear to get.
  21. You are right that SR probably won't respond anymore so this thread is kinda meaningless. It is different however to use something in beta, which worked flawlessly for most, and not upgrading the graphics in WoW. WoW never sold the game by showing high-res textures. BW let everyone use it in the beta and didn't bother telling them that they skip it in release. The graphics right now looks really bad and are not worthy of any MMO. We can debate what we were "promised" but you are right that unsubing is the only real way to show your displeasure.
