  1. In context, that quote really means that charging for a reload is not right, and that's not what they're doing. They are CHARGING for advantages, but something like that isn't "price sensitive" in the example. Resupplies are possible, utilities to "regenerate" ammo are possible all depending on the game within the context of what he said. Doesn't change the fact that it's still dumb and destroys a game.
  2. There is ZERO value for CC as it's a new made up currency. Because they should be PLAYING the game. Allowing shortcuts (as I said) changes the way the game is balanced in one form or another. We're not going to see a favorable outcome for people that wanted to play a standard MMO. Now that it's going free-to-play, well.. I can't help but wonder if this was planned. Could this be considered a bait-and-switch tactic? Get as much cash as possible, then when the subscriptions drop below one million, switch up the product for something completely different? I've seen many standard MMOs move into Free-to-Play territory. Most generate items that offer mechanical benefits that you must pay for, even if you continue to "subscribe" as a standard user.
  3. I have no doubt that financially SWTOR will do better than it is now moving to a Free-to-Play model, but I'm feeling selfish here. I didn't spend the cash for a CE of SWTOR and pay month-after-month for it to turn into a Free-to-Play game that will fundamentally change the development mindset as they focus entirely on what they can extract from people that stick around. There WILL be power items available for sale on the market over time. It may not be in the first month, maybe not even the first year, but it WILL show up, even if they say they won't do it, they will and they will do their damnedest to deny that they are selling power-items.
  4. I don't trust EA because other former-Pay-to-Play models going to Free-to-Play went to the Pay-to-Win model. I don't trust EA because they've said in public their stances on providing those advantages for payment. People can and do pay for these advantages which further pushes the hyper-competitive behavior of PvP players to demanding unreasonable expectations of their character, along with expecting to be able to buy their way into having a mechanical advantage as well. http://www.battlefieldheroes.com/en/store/hot-deals
  5. You don't think I know that? It's still an example of a game that shifted from a retail/subscription model to a Free-to-Play model that's been drilled down into a Pay2Win PvP contest. (I've been with APB and APB:R since Realtime Worlds set up their second CBT stage. I know full well what happened.)
  6. If this weren't EA, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. If we hadn't seen Cryptic and PWE slip into Pay2Win, I'd give EA the benefit of the doubt. If I hadn't seen All Points Bulletin die and get reborn as the Pay2Win All Points Bulletin: Reloaded, I'd give EA the benefit of the doubt. If Riccitiello didn't about how charging for advantages rakes in the dough, I'd give EA the benefit of the doubt. If Ben Cousins didn't excuse and justify allowing players to buy advantages in PvP and PvE environments through his Paying to Win slideshow released last year, I'd give EA the benefit of the doubt.
  7. EA Battlefield Play4Free Battlefield Heroes Nuff said.
  8. Watch them give low-cooldown medical kits and energy/resource regeneration tools to the market as well. It'll happen.
  9. I don't trust EA to make a good free to play game. They've tried it with their Play4Free department and those failed HARD. Battlefield Play4Free is a dismal wretched and twisted version of it's former Battlefield 2 self. Battlefield Heroes started out alright, but shifted harder and harder to advantages that could be bought (and in some cases MUST be bought.) This is under a publisher of whom expects so much income, and they'll get to the point where you won't be able to continue without paying on top of the $15 monthly to continue, or to even the playing field in PvP. It may not start out that way, but it will head to that direction over time for sure. As far as Guild Wars 2? I've got a CE of that waiting for me as well.
  10. Cartel Coins? No value here. $130 for the CE, $105+ for the subscription so far... How do cartel coins translate to that when SWTOR in itself has been kind of "meh" since launch? To be honest, I'm really disappointed. I wanted to get a CE of a game that would last, and I'm so put out that EA/Bioware are going this direction. I think I'd be happier with SWTOR closing instead, at least at that point I won't see it turn into a Free-to-Play monstrosity that no longer focuses on content, storytelling, and gameplay improvements.
  11. Why the hell am I required to give up a Facebook account (of which I have none) to vote on the community choice? I'm CE, been CE since launch, still CE and I can't put in my two-cents on which item I'd like to see? Stop relying on Facebook. Use your own internal accounting systems for this.
  12. Because they believe (somehow) that attacking lower level players will dislodge other 50's from what their doing to go after them. The answer is simple: No, it doesn't. 50's all have their own agendas, they aren't some form of Concord/Rent-a-Cop that is patrolling the server.
  13. Oh my god? It went up by three players!? Population is exploding on your server!
  14. People keep using the word: "Right". I don't think it means what people think it means. Not really. Open PvP can be fun, but not when it's as lopsided as morons in the other thread tend to do. I'm all for PvP, I'm all for players having an impact on others, even in PvE, to an extent. But higher levels going after lower levels isn't really a legitimate Open PvP attempt.
  15. Masking illegitimate PvP as a tool to promote social interaction is BS. Claims of LFG tools are alienating players? When you're being attacked by a level 50 as a lower level, there's not much you can do. The risk of alienation lies solely on the people going after lower levels. The point of PvP is to have a challenge between two people that built their "pokemans" from the ground up. Going after someone who just started is completely lame and damages their preference to stick around. Sure, you could argue they should play on a PvE server, but in the end, those higher levels attacking the lower ones are the grade-A ***holes. Open World PvP is fine, but that should be between similarly leveled players and not unbalanced in such a way that it is impossible for retaliation. Shutting down quest hubs, camping recovery spots, killing medical droids are all in bad form.
  16. No. If you want to change your AC (there was a big message about how your AC was permanent), re-roll.
  17. Still arglebargling over this? The only legitimate complaint was the PvP flagging bug on PvE servers. Beyond that, the event was fine. Person infected you during the event? Not Griefing Person camping you in PvP on the sole place you can respawn? Possibly Griefing (Pending Bioware's interpretation.) Person undercuts you on GTN? Not Griefing
  18. Because it isn't just entertainment anymore. It's BIG business.
  19. Sorry, but no. I'm on a PvP server, but going after greys outside of Warzones or PvP-marked areas is just lame in general. Not only do you discourage a player from sticking to the game, you damage the game's community. PvP is fine, but not when you're using those mechanics to abuse lower levels.
  20. It took me awhile, but I've gotten used to her. Eventually you start tuning her out during combat.
  21. Don't cry.. I can't stand it when Jawas excrete salt-water through their tear ducts.
  22. You.. spent 2k ONCE according to your earlier discussions and even then the vaccine is easy to get, and are also dispersed without any particular requirements. Seriously, you are freaking out about things happening once, and only once. Instead of learning and moving on you've stuck your heels into the ground yelling "No! No! No! No! No!" You aren't having to pay 2k a pop for the vaccine. The infection is easy to avoid (you STILL... STILL fail to make your case that it is impossible to avoid), and death has no repercussions outside of having to wait 5 seconds to revive on the spot with a Medical Probe.
  23. Becuase 5k is a significant amount of money?
  24. Pfft.. Silly player, the World Bosses don't exist anymore!
