  1. OP I know exactly what you mean and agree. I like the game very much, but I always have this niggling feeling you're referring to. I think it's because it feels a tad unfinished...
  2. I believe that maturity is an on-going, never ending process for most of us - what you write is true for most young adults. I'm 30 now, I'm certain I'll look back at myself 5 years from now and think "damn, I was such a kid back then!"
  3. Voiceovers are good and make the game better, if you don't like 'em, well tough. Most of us do.
  4. This. The whining on these boards is so pathetic that it's actually hilarious to see.
  5. I killed her on my PowerTech recently, think I was level 14. Got her on my first try, but she was the first boss mob I almost died to. Stay clear of her AoE thingy (which I didn't notice at first like an idiot, thank Mako for keeping me alive lol), save your electro dart or whatever it's called (the 1 minute CD thingy) for later in the fight, if you're taking a beating. Also, she stuns Mako periodically from what I saw, may be a good idea to save your defensive CDs for those moments (I think PT's have one or two by then). A stim would be a good idea too, as would having a medpack or two handy. BTW I fought her in tank mode, using my Ion Cell.
  6. Reeks Hey, I wanted to be a spelling Nazi for once in my life! And if you ask me, all these "digital" editions are a rip-off. They don't spend money on packaging and shipping, they distribute it via their own platform, and yet we pay boatloads of cash for that... Not to mention the ever-increasing misuse of DLC (cough cough ME3 cough cough). I think my gaming days are over to be honest. ME3 is probably gonna be the last AAA game I'll be spending money on. Unless of course we're talking about talented smaller companies who still have integrity - like CDProjektRed. The big ones are just not worth it anymore.
  7. Hahaha nice! If I ever bump into you on the road I'll say "Shepard!" To which you will of course answer "Wrex!"
  8. I know how you feel, I used to hate seeing the usual "you must be 17 years or older to enter" signs on arcades, bars and other such establishments here. We've all been there and it's frustrating. However try to put yourself in their shoes: It's up to each guild separately to pick and choose their members... Many people have had run-ins with badly behaved adolescents and use the age restriction as a very basic preventive measure. In those cases, your best bet would be if you actually knew a member of such a guild who would be willing to vouch for you. Also, many guilds tend to be adult only because they don't feel comfortable having crass or lewd conversations in front of younger people. Not to mention, you would feel quite out of place with everyone discussing stuff like tax returns, their newborns or even old TV shows you may have never heard of or can't relate to. Believe me, you would feel awkward, I know from personal experience in (non gaming) communities I'd been in when I was your age. That been said, I would personally be more than welcome to give a younger person a chance if I owned a guild - I've met some teens in-game who really surprised me with their maturity and decency. Hang in there Carzem, ask around and be on your best behavior. If you're a good chap, you're sure to find a good in-game home
  9. It may be a vent, but it was a good read nonetheless OP. I'm saying this as a fan of the game, for what it's worth.
  10. I personally don't care. It doesn't bother me. I will NEVER speak Greek (my native language) in public channels though. And even if I happen to for some reason, I'll immediately apologize and translate what I said. Also, I know that some people are irritated by this phenomenon, hence I will respect that and use my server language. However... Many people aren't fluent English speakers, or may not be able to communicate in written English. So unless Bioware starts Polish/Hungarian/Spanish/Shyriwook/Whatever-speaking servers, expect to see just about any language spoken on English EU servers.
  11. Yeah I can't say I've had bad experiences really in either WoW or TOR apart from some gankers and a few idiots, most have been decent and I have even made a couple of online friendships... But these have been the exception to the norm for me as I'm a shy person and feel uncomfortable talking to people I can't actually see IRL. It's all my fault, not theirs, that's the truth
  12. Unfortunately none of my RL friends play TOR and I don't feel like spending my questing time with people I don't know personally so it's out of the question for me. And the other day I logged on Alderaan after peak hours, there were only 22 people on the planet but there was still a nice conversation going on on general chat. I don't think I've ever played on a planet yet without having seen some convo or other pop up except in really, really off-peak hours.
  13. In MMOs I keep to myself, mostly because my gaming time is my only "alone time"... Plus I'm rather shy both in game and IRL, I like people but rarely make the first move. I much prefer playing solo. Still, I tend to accept random group invites or at least decline politely (I kinda feel guilty to decline invites), and I will thank you if you buff/heal me as long as I realize it, I very often don't TBH (and when I do I will usually go on a Benny hill chase behind you to buff you in return if you're in sight ) And I'll give you a hand if you're obviously in big trouble or ask for a tip on general chat. I wouldn't say I'm an antisocial gamer, but I am a bit of a loner.
  14. Yeah but those are NPCs, most of whom (individually) you won't be talking to again unless you reroll. Unlike your character, whom you'll be listening to every time you click on an NPC. Sorry but it just could not work. Not unless our characters were not voiced. It would be like having Luke or Han go "HWARRRRGH HURHURHURRR" instead of actually speak their lines... Try dubbing Star Wars by putting Chewbacca's growls on top of Luke's dialog and subbing it, see if that doesn't either make you die laughing or get on your nerves... In a mainstream cinematic experience or a game like TOR that uses some principles of mainstream cinema, the protagonist is always made relatable to as wide an audience as possible. And Wookiees don't fit in as playable for that. Also, gear appearance issues and romance arcs (both of which have workarounds but would probably not be worth the effort).
  15. Or maybe, we actually like companions in this game. Fancy that.
  16. Wind cheater much? Ugh, I'm fed up of all these long-winded posts blowing everything out of proportion.
  17. Sigh... Playable Wookiees were never an option, ever, and it won't happen unless they design them to be a totally separate class altogether in an expansion - and I doubt that will happen (though Wookiee Scouts for Reps and Trandoshan Slavers for Imps both starting on Kashyyk and with a warzone on the planet to boot could have been a very interesting prospect). Wookiees were DOA since the conception of the game as a fully voiced MMORPG.
  18. To quote that red letter media guy: What's wrong with your faaaaace? Damn that headgear is awful. Thank god you'll be able to extract the mods and armoring, or at least hide it.
  19. Raiding... Ugh. It's just not my thing. Far too crowded.
  20. This! Plus, the game becomes more fun with companions as even the solo content is designed around small group dynamics to an extent - meaning you can play the class similarly to the way you'd play it in a group. Obviously not as much of course, but enough.
  21. Now I got the theme song from the show stuck in my head damn it! Alderaan takes about 30-45 seconds to load for me (no SSD or anything).
  22. I think you should be introduced to the adventures of Ugly Shepard...
  23. In my case it's the money. I am spending part of my latest salary on ME3 - and will wait until my next one for my pre-paid card. Time would not be an issue as I could alternate between the games.
  24. I'll definitely be focusing more on ME3 for a while. I'm already replaying ME2 to get into the spirit My pre-paid card runs out soon so I may set TOR aside until my next salary in (hopefully) April.
