  1. Since you are fighting the same mob as I am fighting--doesn't that make it OUR data? Plus, when you have 10x the dps of the healer--that is not a good thing.
  2. The argument that players should level new toons instead of dual speccing is actually fairly valid for TOR. Since there is no end game--what else are you going to do at 50? Might as well rinse, repeat ad nasuem until you quit. If you could dual spec--folks might actually expect to have challenging end game content to keep them and their friends busy. TOR is all about the solo story--get with the program people.
  3. For LFD, dual spec, and insta-porting ruining WOW--things sure are chugging away well over there. I'm thinking the millions upon millions of players still enjoying WoW have a different opinion. Thankfully the developers are looking to attract a broader audience and have already indicated dual specs are coming to the game.
  4. One other factor may be that not everyone has entered their subscription code. I know I'm still on the fence whether to keep playing or hold off for a few patches before I start my 30 days. My fear is if I play now, in 30 days there won't be anything to keep me playing and it will be good bye TOR. Really want to see this game do well, but at this point I don't see the game gaining subscriptions at the 6 month and one year marks. Declining subscriptions are never good, especially when EA controls the purse strings.
  5. Have to agree with you there! Who wants to look at a conveniently placed, usable cooldown monitor. We can instead stare at our toolbars. Watching the encounter is so over-rated. It is so much easier to watch the encounter after dieing from standing in fire...
  6. It is so nice not having damage meters. No one can tell what a baddie I am. Love being carried by a group of three!
  7. I don't know of any other game that makes the icons so small. Maybe it is just my screen resolution--but the buff/debuff icon are tiny and impossible to differentiate.
  8. That logic is terrible, so I'm assuming your trolling. Umm--by the time you have three companions--your companions will use the spectrum of gear. i.e. I can use Heavy, Medium, and Light. The idea people will not roll need for the companions is crazy--at least half the groups I've been in, someone rolls need for their pet. No one really minds on the green gear--but the blue and orange stuff tends to get folks upset. I think of companions as alts. Nice to gear them up--but not before mains.
  9. Ferraris are slow too if you don't know how to shift out of first... If you have a high end rig and experience lag--it is most likely something with your computer. Most folks with high end rigs--that understand how to use them--are having zero lag issues.
  10. Actually--several MMO's in the past have given extra free time as a form of compensation for server troubles at release. Personally, I'm debating when I'll actually use my registration code. Might just play today and tomorrow and take a powder until the game has had a few patches. Or if the subscriptions tumble and game looks like it is on a fast track to free to play, return the unopened game.
  11. 2005 score: 9/10 2012 score: 5/10
  12. To everyone that says use the in game LFG tool. Does the current LFG look across zones? i.e. If I am questing on Tattoine and someone on Fleet is putting a group together--do they see my LFG tag? No? Hmmm--that doesn't seem like a great solution. The only ones that think the current LFG tool is good are the ones that haven't used it.
  13. Have you made sure all your drivers are up to date? I'm running an nVidia GPU with shadow detail on low (might be medium). Have not noticed any frame rate issues in Fleet or any zone through Alderan.
  14. Why do people still use the "WOW didn't have it at launch either" argument? Those folks do realize this isn't 2005, right? If you want to compare TOR to another game--use a game from 2011--i.e. WoW in its current state, or DCUO, or Rift. This game would have crushed WOW if it had been released in 2005. Unfortunately, now it is 2012 and many facets of the game feel extremely retro to many experienced MMO gamers.
  15. No dungeon finder sounds like a great idea--well for WoW. It is impossible to find a group--head to Fleet and spam /1 for 30+ minutes to find enough players isn't my idea of fun. Predict a huge exodus of players after the 30 day period. Which is a shame for TOR. But I'm sure Blizzard will welcome the returning players.
  16. TOR would have crushed WoW if it had been released in 2005! For now though--great example of retro gaming....
  17. The good news is server transfers are coming. Just have to wait about 18 months.
  18. What about the folks that want to play with friends that had EGA and chose an existing server? Tough luck for those folks? And if you are going to say--the EGA folks can roll on the new servers with their friends--wouldn't that also be an option for you? One other consideration too--TOR is lacking in lots of areas for a new MMO. The likelihood there will be a mass exodus of subscribers in the coming months is fairly high. Choosing a high population server now is a good way to hedge your bet on not getting stuck on a Ghost Town server in the coming months.
  19. SithInitiate -- kudos a worthy post to read--about nailed it...
  20. Yes TOR will over take WOW (when TOR goes free to play in about eighteen months.)
  21. Lets hope BW can fail as hard a Blizzard. Remember the Catalysm expansion sold more in North America by day 1 than TOR has sold world wide. (3.3 million to an estimated 3 million) For all of WOW's fail--WoW still boasts more montly subscribers than all over subscription based MMO's combined. Pretty sure that is the kind of failing BW is hoping TOR will emulate.
  22. You need to read the forums more--your problem isn't that Fleet is deserted of players wanting to run the leveling flashpoints. Not finding a group is clearly your fault for A) not being in a large guild and/or B) not being social enough!
  23. When the battery dies, you'll probably have a smart phone that can run the authenticator. But I like your style--thinking TOR will still be around in four years as a game folks would want to hack!
  24. I think the OP hit the nail on the head. If you are serious game player--TOR most likely will leave you feeling like you are stepping into a time machine, playing a game that would have felt fresh in 2005. Most serious gamers are a little disappointed that TOR hasn't delivered. But we won't need to reviews to measure success. The game population/subscriptions at the six month point will be the true bellwether. Yeah--pointless to compare this game to the most successful MMO. It is much more fair to compare TOR to all the games that have gone free to play. TOR and WoW are in different leagues. This guy has it dead on--if we were in 2005--TOR would have a chance.
  25. Watch out what you wish for... If you think the game won't suffer if subs drop below 500,000--you are crazy.
