  1. Is part of an RPG not about making choices aligned to how you define your character? I dont feel my character would take on every side quest from every whiny little pissant NPC I come across. Please don't punish me for playing the game this way. Please dont make my epic, evil sith lord need to go back to <enter prissy quest goal here> when I told the quest giver to get bent the first time. For the 100%'ers that decide they just want to "do it all", this should be enough for you. If this is not a good enough reason, then get over it or start an(other) alt.

  3. I (and the rest of North America) had to create a subscription within a 4 day grace period in order to continue playing after launch. Granted my CC was not charged again until the end of my 30 days, but I had to create a subscription so they could brag about high numbers. Are you suggesting that Asia could use their full 30 days before creating a subscription?
  4. FWIW, in forum nomenclature the "/" indicates an end tag. When you type /Discuss you are saying "end of discuss(ion)". On topic, people who want to DPS only can choose a pure DPS class and never be expected to do something else. However, they still have the option of spec'ing differently to take advantage of different play styles and different talents available in tree's that may be more effective in certain situations.
  5. I live in a world with a holo-communicator on my ship, and one I my person I cant find but use from time to time. However, the communication system running these seem to be synchronous only as I cant receive messages on them. I'm guessing the reason I cant receive mail on my ship, or send, is because big brother is concerned I may hack it to communicate with the Republic.
  6. Not getting a security key. One more thing that can go wrong when trying to log in and play. Dont need the hassle.
  7. No. This is 8 years and many MMO's later. Industry starters get a break. I expect new ones developed these days to have learned a lesson or 2 from others. Or have they been hiding under a rock for the last decade?
  8. Frankly, I'd prefer you cared, rather than simply "understand", while doing doing more to plan these patches in a more scheduled fashion. Improved testing processes would go a long way as well.
  9. If a narcissist decides they do not like something, then that thing is a failure. Arguing with logic, or disagreement of any sort, will be unproductive. Save your energy.
  10. Sorry, I forgot how sensitive people can be to this topic. I'm sure you (and all other obese people reading this) are victims of bad genetics and/or other issues totally out of your control. I'm overweight, but am one of the very few people inflicted with this malady that is simply too stupid, lazy, and fond of unhealthy foods to do anything about it. I also drink too much which doesn't help. If someone is otherwise healthy, being large in and of itself is NOT a bad thing.
  11. These toons spend all their time running & fighting so being obese makes no sense. Also, set in the future, supplements and medicine etc. help keep people at a healthier weight. I'd suggest people also got smarter or less gluttonous, but I'm not counting on that ever happening.
  12. I'm now certain that this is more than a game, swtor is actually a front for a mass social and psychoanalysis experiment. How much with customer put up with and keep paying; stay tuned.
  13. When I'm questing, I usually am "gogogo" so this is a fine assumption. I get limited time to play and if I'm in the socializing or in a taking-it-slow kinda mood I'll be at the fleet, a major city, PVP'ing or searching for datacrons Why would I care about how you label an experience I summarized in 8 seconds? I feel all giddy inside when me and another human being can work together on an objective, game or real life, know what each other is doing, compliment each other synergistically; all without having to say a word. I see the invite as asking me if I wanted a sandwich. They only need to ask once. Shoving an already made sandwich in my face would be more akin to force adding me to your group, which of course isn't possible in this game. I think the invite is a polite, built in method of asking someone if they want to group. Please note that we are talking about when you see someone in the same area, killing the same mobs and/or collecting the same objects. I'm an intuitive kinda guy, and don't need things spelled out for me.
  14. A friend bought the standard physical copy. After not being able to play for 4 days, numerous calls to customer support, and even buying a new computer (yes, you read that correctly) he finally talk to a CSR that informed him it was a known issue with some of the DVD distributions. The "fix" was to, uninstall, delete all traces, and re-install by downloading/patching entire client. He got 1 free week of play because of how pi$$ed off he was. Did you know that CRS's can give "one week free" to customers as a way of satiating them?
  15. For all the people saying you want to whisper/talk about it first, imo you're probably too much overhead and generally just not efficient. Some of the best PvE grouping experiences I've had in this game, I'm thinking of two specifically, a group invite was sent out while questing in the same a area. About 90 minutes later we said goodbye when futher objectives were in opposite direction. Not a single word said before or during group. It wasn't needed. We could both read the map and both knew what we were doing. A couple times I invited someone nearby, they rejected and whispered they were logging soon, or waiting for a friend. No issues. Another time I acecpted an invite, checked map, and seen we were on different quest lines. I explained and left the group. No problem. Why whisper "want to group?", that's what the group invite does. To state which quest? If I'm vaguely interested I'd rather join group and look at your objectives in my area. I may not have the one you doing right now, but could have 4 others Other times, I may just not feel like grouping at all. Could be any number of reasons. If you whisper me with questions about it, I may feel responding with "no" would come off rude, so I'd be inclined to explain why, even if I'd rather not. Just send me the invite, I'll decline if I'm not interested; no need to whisper/talk about it. Also, inb4 "anti-social". I am very social and found many people to invite to guild from encounters like this. I'm also not always in a big hurry. Once I know you are a capable and/or fun player, I'm willing to take plenty of time to "get to know you". I just dont have time to do so with every random person that wants to group. /logic
  16. Cyclical arguing on internet forums is so passe. I promise you if you learn that you don't need to get everyone in the world (or this thread) to agree with you on any subject, you will be happier and one step closer to emotionally mature. Agree to disagree, go logon with yoour favourite toon and play however you like. For those that feel the desire to smash their screen when a PuG member does somethhing they disagree with, only play with guild and friends. For everyone else, have fun out there. /logic
  17. My point could also be summarized by saying that need/greed nazi's are more fun-sucking than loot ninja's.
  18. I suggest: 1. Roll need for things YOU think you need. Feel free to reconsider what YOU think you need as you play the game. 2. Roll greed for basically everything else. 3. Roll pass for anything you don't want to be bothered with. Easy, peasy. yw. /logic
  19. Personally, I was royally pissed off. I work full time during the week and have a family. I get a few random hours during the week, but really Friday & Saturday night are the the only times I can really get into it. I happen to be in PST Step 1: All week planned for Friday night, no scheduled maintenance, hooray! Step 2: Friday after work 6pm ish, check out forums, load game to see if patch was waiting. All set for when ready later in the evening Step 3: Spent time with Family, read to kids, put in bed, chat about weekend with wife. She's happy and has things to do, then to bed and then some ME time. Step 4: 10pm (PST) I log in, take care of a few items, check cargo, chat with guild as running a few class/planet quests Step 5: 11:30 head up to fleet, group with 2 guild members send out LFG for a DPS and get one right away, head to Flashpoint Step 6: 11:45ish Warning that servers are coming down! ***!!!!!? I have 3 hours left in me. MY TIME TO PLAY! NOOOOOOOO Step 7: Put on a couple TV episodes and go to bed absolutely disgusted in whoever is responsible for planning and communicating. **** it, just a game. I do know it's just a game, but I dont get to play that often and I do my part by trying to plan my time around maintenance. When this this happens I feel like the vendor just doesn't care.
  20. For the love of god, this same stupid discussion again... For those who cant handle others playing differently, go back to single player games. Have you done all the Mass Effect games yet? For the children you are shouting "but it's not fair"... the World isn't fair. If you cant handle it in a game, good luck in the real world. For those who just "really wanted that" gear, and thought it was MADE for their character, run the instance, again, and again. Or move on, there's more content and more gear. With all the time spend whining on this forum, I wonder how many equivalent pieces you could have rolled on. Grow up, move on, and accept the fact that other players using their own mind and attitudes when grouping is part of the game. I'm glad everyone I play with isn't a bot. I dont always agree with PUG members, and feel some people are real butts, but generally would prefer to play with a them than the self-righteous MMO gurus who feel so superior and want to tell eberyone else how to play.
  21. As a tank, I hate most DPS spec's that think they can heal. Especially when they join a group as the healer. F'n pisses me off. That said, yes, an experienced DPS Sorc/Sage can be helpful in a disorganised PUG with a still-learning healer.
  22. PvE? We guard for threat mitigation, as it only transfers damage in PvP. So, who is causing the most threat and whose should you mitigate? Healer is generating threat 'cause he's doing his job. If the DPS is taking agro that you cant get back by doing YOUR job as you normally would, then likely he is not performing at peak. However, now we also have this pesky 15 meter rule. Can/should the healer try to remain within 15 meters of you? IMO: If the party communicates well and is operating effectively, I think the healer needs the guard most. If you need to compensate for a trigger happy DPS, maybe move the guard to him to save yourself some hassle. Alternatively, there could be situations where your threat bonus cant compensate for the amount of DPS you want someone doing, so then you can feel good about moving it to him.
