  1. Sorry but awesome cloaks woulda been fine. Problem is the game engine barely supports what it does now and I don't think the programmers are fully up to the task of working in the parameters of the engine - which seems clear by the persistent sound bugs and other continual issues that are always present.. Also, personally, none of hte designs save a few of hte early level ones look like Star Wars. I'm sorry, but 3000 years ago doesn't mean people didn't have taste and class.
  2. I personally, am really glad they do not allow this, or we will end up with even worse names that are like "gH0St P@tRiOT" running around. I really don't need to see 'leet speak" names in Star Wars.
  3. The only thing I disagree with is the "copy wow" comments. IMHO these games need to start being innovative again. And trying to duplicate success that another company had by copying their formula doesn't guarantee a thing. STAR WARS is a brand name that used to be all about innovation. Now it's just another commercial brand like LEGOS. Except Legos are WAY cooler. Oh, and P.S. - the reason SWG began it's slow painful death to the server shutdown it endured was that they tried to copy WOW. 'Nuff said.
  4. The only imblance is actually in the "expertise" of gear. It's got too high a spread and now with anyone in BM or up sporting full augments on all their gear the showing is going to be much worse between recruit and someone geared at the highest levels. True PVPers want a fair fight but the highly geared PVPers in this game just want to smack you down and most seem to be looking at keeping you from a fair fight. A majority of the highest level PVPers never even experienced what it was like to be in Recruit gear. I have. I also win a lot. But where PVP fails in this game is being fun for all. Fun makes people play; if someone get's the ultimate smackdown - they quit and never come back.
  5. No you got none of it right. Just as Deyjarl gets none of it right. All he does is an "is so" argument and doesn't provide proof. I'm actually quite good. But no one bothered to ask. Everyone just makes assumptions then they seem to argue because they think that the current system is ******. Newflash. People are playing it. But the only ones who like it are the ones with the advantage. The rest are trying to get past it - Bioware needs an equalizer in here. Similar to bolster but in the case of warzones - more like a range modifier. The fact that people come here to talk about it says it all. If everyone liked it 100% this forum would be dead. And if people weren't afraid of losing their advantage in PVP they wouldn't be in here trying to put the kibosh on these threads talking about how the system is failing. Deyjarl, you live in an interesting headspace, I gotta say. Look at the bigger picture, and try to figure out how to make PVP enjoyable for all the people, including the new ones. If no new people join and stay, it will die. It's simple math.
  6. It's widely recognized that they dropped teh ball on high end gear design in this game. Someone probably shoulda been fired over it cause let's face it - NO ONE in the offices said "Hey, that looks like crap! Let's make stuff look more like Star Wars instead of soemthing in Lady Gaga's closet!"????
  7. I was in a Voidstar match, as a sneak, and trying to get in to plant the bomb. And this one dual blader kept launching himself at the 2 to 3 guys that were on the off-door (the door that a majority of the team was NOT on) solo. He wanted to kick me for not helping him fight a bad fight. If you launch at more than you can chew - deal with it. THe objective, buddy, is to plant the bomb, do your damn job, draw them away from the damn door so your teammate can plant the damn bomb. Luckily, the rest of the team wasn't as stupid as he was.
  8. Never once said this. Yet you continue to insist I did. Again. YOU. ARE. NOT. COMPREHENDING. And even funnier - you seem to think I was talking about you. The world doesn't revolve around you dude.
  9. See, you get it. It's obvious you get it. I was trying to talk to another guy in this thread who basically just keeps insulting me and making huge gigantic assumptions about me. I kept correcting him, but he obviously is only reading it through some kind of "translating" glasses that seems make him think I want s^&* handed to me for free. I'm done trying to talk to him. He doesn't comprehend what I'm saying at all. And frankly it's not worth my time trying to convince a pebble that thinks he's a boulder that he's really a pebble. I've been talking the history of the PVP in this game since release (and even before release) and how Bioware doesn't anticipate the problems before implementing a change (prime example at this point is how in PVP shadows and assassin's are just FODDER for everyone else now... Fun is what I'm talking about. Period. Has been since the first post I made about it. People obviously have different takes on what they think is fun and a LOT of the defenders of the current system believe fun is only achievable through winning. It's valid from their point of view. But fun for me is simply having a good match. Now part of the history of this entire ordeal is to point out that the passionate people for good fun clean PVP are being driven off and out of the game by the *****, the guys who gank, the ones who get enjoyment out of berating and belittling others (like the aforementioned pebble who think's he's a boulder). It's not my problem. But I was hoping to lend a solution to the ranks. But these people, they can't see beyond the things that only effect them. A prime example of this is how Vanguards and Powertechs are now the ultimate classes in PVP and all of a sudden all the PVPers are calling for them to get nerfed. Seriously? PVE is the MAJORITY of the GAME. All the PVPers cryign for nerfs are literally making the PVEers lives harder as well and they're leaving too. I honestly wish the so called "hardcore" PVP player from this game would just leave and go play GW2 already. Then maybe we'd have a shot at this game recovering and becoming something better than a WOW clone with a Star Wars wrapper.
  10. The "learn to" arguement is only ever dished out from arrogant b#$%@#$s who shouldn't be allowed to actually talk to other people.
  11. I find the way Bioware handles things quite distasteful at this point. This change was obviously intended for PVP, as my shadows are now complete and utter food for all other classes in PVP now. I haven't had the opportunity to tank any of the Ops since this went live so if and when I get the chance to try I will report in - assuming my subscription is still up and I'm allowed to throw my input in.
  12. Actually the entire premise of your reply is flawed. It begins with assumption. It ends with being completely off base in that presumption. I do fine in PVP. I'm a good player. I'm observant and I know my class and all the other classes in terms of what they are capable of doing. My urge to post the question was out of a desire to raise the awareness level of being decent in the game. So that people will hopefully opt to be friendly and helpful - so that other newer people will continue to want to play. Too often I'm seeing more in PVP than in PVE ( I do both...) that the "leet" players - the ones with attitude in chat - tend to get angry and mean. It helps no one. It only takes one bad apple to ruin the barrel.
  13. Curious question for the masses... why are people who play these games just simply not nice if they are PVPers? I've noticed time and time again that PVP hardcore players tend to resort to a I'm-better-than-you-so-I-can-be-a-******** mentality. Not all of them mind you. But a large portion of PVPers will just be mean, generally not be helpful, and will, more often than not, only be selfishly concerned with their own class and it's ability to win in PVP. Meanwhile PVEer's tend to be helpful, kind, courteous, and generally nice people. (Also not all of the time mind you...) Thoughts?
  14. I knew it would happen and I see it now. I thought they were onto something when they were making kits to add augment slots to gear. But here's the thing... now. Armor makers and synth weavers were making money selling their augmented gear that they crit crafted. My concern when they were adding the ability to add augment slots to any of our gear was that they would somehow negate this bonus to the crafting professions. At first I was actually thinking they pulled it off. Until I took a look at a crafted piece of armor. They only come with mk-1 slots. Any crit crafted augment armor comes with a garbage augment slot. Meaning they are no longer special at all since they will ALL REQUIRE an augment kit to upgrade them. Grats on this Bioware. What you SHOULD have done is allow those crit crafted items with augment slots to be UNIVERSAL in terms of the augments they could slot. So that they maintained their value. But no.... you killed the crafting again. Grats.
  15. You have no idea what you're talking about. It's clear that you don't. From the way you talk, very deliberatly putting others down and claiming that they didn't do the time, without understanding their situation and life and circumstances is what makes you that guy - the guy that thinks he's always right and everyone else is always wrong. Given equal gear in a equal setting - I would wipe the floor with you. But I don't actually care about that. What I care about is the methodology that Bioware is going through in handling massive changes (and this applies to more than just PVP btw) to the systems they put in place without even considering the circumstances and current progressions of the people they are trying to make happy currently working within those systems in progress. I'm more repressentative of the average player of this game than you are. I never came to the forums until I saw the problems and because I want to see the game succeed and one of the things I do for a living is very related to doing just that I was hoping to help Bioware understand the issues that the average gamer goes through. But from all appearances you are just fighting to keep your iWin - uLose setup. From the way you talk to others, it sounds as if you ahve to be that guy, the guy who wins, even if it's unfairly. Is it true? Or could you actually live with having a PVP warzone system where everyone is on more equal footing and the fights are more definitively based on skill than gear? Because I assure you, at the present, gear decides PVP more than skill. You get over YOURSELF. You're the one who obviously has issues. I'm the one leaving the sinking ship behind. You're the one who is urging the rats to stay on it.
  16. You'd be amazed how much crap the PVPheads make up when they read a post and respond to it.

    Class Symbol

Oh god right. Horrible for PVP. Fine in PVE tho. Same argument with Pebbles and Lightning also - pebbles are less obvious than the latter but they're still ding ding dings!

    Class Symbol

One of the many reasons in my list for quitting. The design team is horrible at making these choices. My favorite fubar of all time is Ilum and all the associated nonsense that was incorporated into that. Seriously, whose bright idea was it to add a huge red announcement that an enemy player is near a landmarked location? That's beyond lame. Even worse was the excuse of a design for Ilum but that's a topic for another thread. Point is, Bioware is doing so much wrong, it's hard ot praise the things they do right.
  19. What's your argument? All you did was state some facts and not actually contribute anything usefull to the issue at hand. Or was stating the facts your way of saying you want to keep your advantage over new people, dominate them, crush their spirits and essentially chase them away from playing the game, thus elimnating any competition so that you can be the undisputed king of PVP in a wasteland populated by only other people exactly like you? Supposition. So please elaborate. What do you think the solution is - the solution to help PVP become better as a whole in the game, so that all people can enjoy it whether they win or lose?
  20. Not the arguement I made at all. But it is the same arguement. The problem that you actually just pointed out is that PVP is the equivalent of a story mode player fighting a nightmare mode player. And that's right out of hte box as you hit 50. Expertise is not the solution to the PVP vs PVE arguement as well. The expertise curve gap needs to be simply lowered and brought more in-line. The hardcore auged war heroes will stilll have the advantage but they need to stop 3 shotting the fresh 50s. Personally I don't like to utter steamroll soemone in PVP. I know how bad they must feel when that happens and I want them to learn but being steamrolled doesn't help them learn. 9 out 10 times it turns them off to PVP and they won't come back.
  21. I am continuously shocked by the selfish behaviour I see in the PVP threads. Mostly, "no, I want to keep my huge advantage." and "No you should suffer." What boggles the mind is how those of you who say this don't see the harm you are doing to yourselves. In order to PVP you need people to PVP with. Without KEEPING the new people coming in, you are only going to bleed people who are gradually leaving. The disparity between the recruit and fully auged War Hero gear is HUGE. Of course, it's natural. Why would you want a fair fight? One of the guys on this particular subsection of the forum actually stated that he didn't think fair fights were fun. That he wants to the advantage in order to play and enjoy it. In other words, he wants the guaranteed win, and therefore everyone else should have worse gear than he, and he will do and say anything to make sure that continues to happen. Big picture people. Look at the bigger picture.
  22. The problem is that the class was broken to begin with - the shield should block more than it blocks however it doesn't work against a WIDE variety of attacks - it only stops the most basic of low level attacks. People say that they're fine. In PVP a shadow tank is squishier than all get out now. I see Powertech Tanks ripping people apart now though. I just wish Bioware wouldn't overnerf every class under the sun.
  23. Come on people this one is important for the PVPers - you want a fair fight or do you want to walk all over recruits and scare them into never coming back because they'll jsut believe they'll never have a chance?
  24. Agreed - and with the changes to Powertech/Vanguards they are the undisputed tanking kings. Their change is unbelievable. In PVP, now they are gods and everyone else is a mouse. I imagine that will hold true in high end ops as well. Will let you know.
  25. It's not that I want it to be free, but the issue is now this: it costs a buttload of cash and materials and time to get and install these augment slots ourselves. Recruit gear is throwaway gear. But we can't compete with all the augmented up the wazoo War Heros that are out there now. Expertise doesn't help at all when they also have the insane stats to go with it. Truthfully the expertise effect in any given warzone imho needs to be sliding scale as well so that the team with greater experitse advatange doesn't completely steamroll the other team. Imho, that's no fun on either side. When I've been on such teams, I feel HORRIBLE that we just completely crush them. At the same time I want a challenge to feel like I actually deserved my win. And I've been on the other end as well, it's jsut heart crunching to get totally steamrolled. So my suggestions are as follows. 1) Add a free augment slot to recruit gear. We're all replacing it anyway, we'll have to ADD a real augment slot to the battle master gear anyway when we get it and then pay to remove our augment from the recruit gear anyway. It already has built in cost problems. To compete - we HAVE to put augment slots on the recruit gear. Do you REALLY think that the valor 91 DPS jugg that's staring at you from accross the voidstar room doesn't have an augment slot on every possible gear piece he can put one in? Alternatively, allow us to buy a MUCH cheaper (say 5k each - that would cost us about 70k for all 14 augment slots we need to install) augment kit specifically for recruit gear. For reference: the current cost of ONE mk6 kit on my server's GTN before I logged off tonight was 220k. 2) Apply a sliding scale to the warzone participants expertise range. Allow the higher level guys to be higher but tweak it so they're not hitting the fresh 50s or casual PVPers for 5k+ all the time. Yes, I saw these numbers. Anyone saying they aren't seeing it is lying. 2)
