  1. The Republic are the few, the proud and with the speed at which we get into WZs, the well geared. Also, Republic will have tighter comunities and may eventually develop stronger communication with other faction members, which will make PUGs better. In WZs (Server: The Ravager) , Im actually surprised that I've won slightly more WZs than Ive lost. ABd I think it will only get better. THe big, big issue will be any form of World PvP. But then again, as time keeps passing, due to a smaller, tighter community it will possibly be easier to form decent groups for Ilum. Or not Just a note: the Jedi Knight Act I final stages are awesome. Too bad rest of the Acts just lame it up
  2. They get the most MVP awards out of all other "Holy Trinity" members. No point in ************ around. Pug vs Pug, healers on any WZ group will win the day everytime. Always. I honestly cant see why these dudes are complaining so much. Healers die to 2 people DPSing them down without support (eventually). If as a healer you are alone for some reason, you kinda deserve to go down. As any other class. Bottom line: healers are fine. Trauma is MORE than fine. If you want to survive SOLO vs 4 or 5 men, go back to the stupidity healing is in WoW.
  3. Lets wait for the new stats after quite a few people have hit 50, that number will rise. I dont know where these carebears got the idea that there are more PVErs than PVPers, because they are flat out wrong. Specially without a dungeon finder. The state this game is in, the majority of the players (50) spend more time PvPing the PvEing. As in, guess what, most recent MMOs. This is actually one of the most stupid ideas that ever got in the head of raiders/instance grinders. Have you nerds never asked yourselves the question: Why do they keep balancing mechanics towards PvP when they are such a minority? Answer: its not a minority. Kind of an hidden "secret" among MMO players. MMO for me means: able to fight VERSUS a lot of players. Not a lot of mobs.
  4. It means that Bioware screwed up big time in the engine vs.performance choice. It means that people are dumb to believe its an UI bug, that some act of God created 3 options in the textures low, medium and high. I cant believe how many people are taking Reid's avalanche of nothing as the truth. It has holes all over it.
  5. This reply says, well, nothing and above all, makes absolutely no point at all! Thank you for buttering up "We messed up the texturing vs.performance issue because our engine is so full of holes it looks like a sinking Titanic, so we got creative and said that Hey, its a UI bug. We have NO idea how the "high" option ended up in the UI. Damn hackerzzzz". I dont really care about hi-res textures. What I do care about is that my decently rigged i5 cant get more than 20 fps in WZs with everything on minimum. High spec PC users dont want MORE: they want BETTER. They want 40 FPS with everything on minimum if thats whats needed to play fluently in WZs. 150 players in the fleet isnt 20 players in a WZ now is it? Its more than sad: its incompetent on BW part. I shouldn't need a master degree in computer nerdism to have this run at 40 fps in WZs. GET.IT.FIXED.
  6. Precisely what I've noticed. IMO, Bioware realized they screwed up some months ago and are trying to "push with their bellies" until a real CORE fix comes. In my line of work, I also use a supplier's engine. There is only so much you can do: you can stretch long to cover up some flaws as long as you want, but core capabilities changes HAVE to come from the original supplier.
  7. The point is informing - via the Hero Engine own statement - that this engine doesnt use multiple processors, allocating ALL the load on one processor. Its not a matter of opinnion: its a fact. Its like having a Ferrari, but never going beyond 50 kilometres an hour. The result is that low end specs have a very similar performance to high end specs. Once again, this is a FACT no an opinion.
  8. The thing is mate, if the engine just can't use the multi cores, high res textures, AA etc will degrade the experience for everyone. Somehow, it just fits if you consider the very strange no AA or high res textures - that ARE in the game - at the moment.
  9. I think the community needs to see the Hero Engines' creator statements on the single threaded optimization. Sorry for the bump.
  10. Are you kidding me? Who the hell made the decision to support a game SINGLE THREADED game engine? This is 2012 and a good chunk of players runs multiple processors. What this means is that only one processor is being used for SW:TOR, basically. The devs keep trying to downplay the issue but I doubt is just a 5% minority that is having performance problems on high end machines. I know entire 50 members guild where EVERYONE gets 20 FPSs in WZs for instance. This may be the reason. Thank you Teziz for finding this: http://community.heroengine.com/forums/index.php/topic,889.msg4120.html#msg4120 If this is indeed an engine problem - and in the forum post the reply is from September and apparently in January no solution has been found - the supplier needs to get it fixed, not the client (Bioware). It may also explain why no High Res textures or AA, as it will probably degrade the game performance even more. So it seems its out of their hands. I can be very wrong about this, hopefully. What I do feel is that we need to keep the pressure up. These issues are NOT OK, even though BioWare keeps downplaying the situation, but along with the abysmal character response times and animation lag the word "Gamebreaking" is beginning to pop in many players' heads. Unfortunately, because we all want the game to succeed, but technical issues like these will kill it for many of us. EDIT: Also, further in that thread: "simulation and rendering run on a single shared core.". Rendering as in, TEXTURES? Or am I reading it wrong?
  11. This statement is offensive to my decently rigged PC and to many many players. The FPS I get in WZs is simply unnatural, and like me many many others. Mr.Ohlen, stop talking and start working on fixing the terribly inconsistente engine you got. Start working on it like, yesterday.
  12. "CHOICE IS AN ILLUSION". Feeling like Alice, tumbling down the rabbit hole? Next time, don't take blue pill. Welcome to the "real" world.
  13. Thats me. Just hit 50 today and no, I didnt spacebar at all, far from it. Of course the vacation from work I am enjoying right now helped a lot ^^. All I did though was solo'ing and 2 or 3 WZs a day, dinged 50 as soon as I finished the first part of Corelia. Did 0 flashpoints and only a couple of heroics though, not even Esseles. Don't have time for the LFG drama. Ill start doing them once a Finder is in the game.
  14. True story. The marauder/sentinel are a very reactive class, and second makes every difference in a fight. Specially annoying are the "abilities that dont go off" - repeating over and over the same animation - and the interrupts that never ever hit on time, as in, when I cast them. If I wanna interrupt a heal I almost need to predict the exact time when the enemy will cast it. Its breaking an already hard to play class, at least for me :/ Get this huge downside along with a terrible default UI and most classes arent actually being played as they were meant to be played.
  15. Exactly my feelings. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying every bit of SW:TOR, but this game has made me see that Rift is a really, REALLY solid theme park MMO. Ah, and I've also played another month of WoW before TOR's betas and feel Rift quality-wise (except PVP which is just bad in both games) is really up there. Right now, thats what I'm coming to realise after looking at the competion: Rift after all is looking more and more like a very solid MMO. SWT:TOR can turn solid has well. I just hope BW be as relentless as Trion has been since Rift's launch regarding bug fixing and huge amounts of content. It is really Trion's perserverance that is putting life back into Rift. If you don't like WoW - and personally, I cant even look at it anymore - and feel SW:TOR is a few months away from awesomeness and you dont have the patience, try Rift. You may be surprised.
  16. When Blizz launched WoW, all we saw in Blizzard's website were job offers all over the place: they were planning expansion to meet the demand and even more. WoW was the focus, and Blizzard bet on it hard halting the development of both Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 . We just don't see that from Bioware sadly. Bioware brought us many great games over the years but recently - post EA - Dragon Age 2 got me scared. And the fact that you don't see Bioware/EA betting hard on the expansion and growth of SWTOR. Fact is, Dragon Age 3 is in the works and so is Mass Effect 3... Bottom line: I'm enjoying every bit of SWTOR, but as a customer, I just don't see the commitment that say, Blizzard had in the beginning of WoW, on Bioware's end. And SWTOR to become a reference MMO needs Bioware's/EA's commitment. And it aint there.
  17. I'm an ecommerce and marketing manager, work 50-60 hours a week, only have one level 25 character. Having little time to play makes playtime soooo much more valuable
  18. Mate I play a Marauder and the issue is so god damn obvious - specially while PVPing - its not even funny. Im still a noob, but i've lost - and probably won - tons of fights due to this issue. Winning or loosing, its just the fact that - and I am a fanboy can't help it - this is by far the most gamebreaking situation in the game right now, and WILL make me drop SWTOR if it persists in the next couple of months. I don't want to feel like quitting in a couple of months Bioware PS Ill probably take a time off for Mass Effect 3 though
  19. Yeah, you sir are a victim. I read your posts on the responsiveness issues thread - which btw, is in the medium term a gamebreaking issue for many of us - on which you said neither you or all of your guild experienced that issue among other funny things You did and do experience it, you just can't see it - and there can be many reasons why you or your guild mates can't "see" the problem. I won't name any reasons, pretty sure readers will put 1 + 1 together What worries people regarding the responsiveness is that it is NOT a launch issue, quite the contrary. People are afraid its actually an engine/design flaw. I do agree with you regarding SW:TORs launch, both technically and polish wise its right up there wth Rift's. Specially comparing to the nightmare that was WoW's or AoC's launch. People have no reason - technically - to complain about SWTOR's launch. It was very sucessful. The other - many- small shortcoming regarding the game itself will get fixed over time, with some situations more urgent then other. BUt in the overall, GJ by Bioware. P.S. I apologise for sort of hijacking the thread, but that "I'm a victim" thing begged a reply
  20. This. Also, OP, do you work for Bioware or something? The interface customization options in SWTOR are the worst, well, in 5 years. Actually, only Rift with all its flaws lauched truly AAA as far as interface goes.
  21. ****. This is a real issue, and a game breaking one on the medium/long term. Because troll threads regarding this issue do get constant huge page numbers. It can only mean one of two things: all of us - that report this issue - are trolls, or the small minority of jerks that are too dumb to actually notice anything should be doing better things with their time than TROLL threads that are giving as much feedback as possible to have this issue looked into. WHen BW fixes this, jerks like you should hide under a bed.
  22. I've seen shards up to 190 players. What BW is doing is smart server load/performance management. Somehow I feel that we will have to deal with this until the 3 or 6 month mark. IMO, they are not so confident retention-rate wise in a 6 month period, and dont want to go "gun blazing" regarding investments on hardware and staff/outsourcing to provide incresed server capabilities and performance. We all know this game will have perhaps the strongest initial performance sales-wise in MMO history, but we - and i think neither EA - cant really tell where will the game will be regarding player subs in the critical 3 and specially 6 month mark. They are consciously holding back on server expansion, probably by "defensive" reasons. Its the only logical reason I can see at least.
  23. The only way I can see that this game fullfills its destiny is that it uses the superb, story driven setting that we have at launch to culminate (having it as part of the story as you reach endgame) in sheer Sith vs Republic, all out Star Wars conflict with both engaging ground combat and space battles. Further story to advance the plots would be coming along with expansions mainly. Or at least, thats how I would dream of it I seriously vote not for World PVP, but Star Wars Universe PVP.
  24. I'm pretty sure Bioware will implement this at some point, specially when the number of level 50's stabilizes.
