  1. Yesterday, I took a toaster back to Walmart and told them it didn't work. The service clerk looked at me in distain saying "It's a user problem", "Case closed.", "Next?". .... "Why are you still here? The instructions clearly say the toaster might not work."
  2. Since the nerf to surge, once you are level 50, you want power or cunning rather than crit or surge if your goal is to maximize dps. If you want to maximize critical hits, the crit and surge stats are the priority. However, be aware that the penalty in average dps is severe. In order to perform well in FPs and Ops, you will need to spec for maximum average dps. The difference can be rather large. If you make the choice of crit/surge at every opportunity, your average dps can be 10% lower than if you outfit with cunning/power at every opportunity.
  3. Nice proposal. But, the game design chosen by Bioware is to make all crafting a secondary and supportive adjunct to raiding. It's the same for space and role playing. The idea that a player can have a fullfilling experience only doing crafting is actively blocked by the game design. Same is true for space and role playing. Allowing players the choice of how to play the game amounts to creating a "sandbox" game and the devs have repeatedly said they control the game and not the players.
  4. Nice list. It's very strange that it is so difficult to preview the appearance of uniforms. The icons are usually misleading. They obviously have the ability to display a uniform on a character, so it must be a decision to make it difficult. I've bought numerous items only to find I don't like the appearance. So, I stopped buying.
  5. You criticize healers for standing still. But, the major heals require standing still during the cast. Continuous movement cuts IA healing per second by more than 50%.
  6. When I type http://www.swtor.com into the browser it defaults to http://www.swtor.com/de. I like Germany but I do not speak German.
  7. I have a somewhat different take on the events under discussion. These events indicate to me that the Community Managers have no clear metric of "community" to guide them. So, they wing it. By metric, I mean a set of measurable indices by which Bioware can determine if a given action will increase or decrease community cohesion. It is very clear that a host of design and operating decisions for SWTOR have undermined community cohesion. (Its a much broader topic to explain all the ways this occurs both intentionally and unintentionally.) Viewed in this light the Hoth/GM/PvP dispute is a clear illustration that the GMs involved had little or no insight into how their actions would negatively affect community cohesion. Furthermore, by writing it off as merely a mistake warranting an apology, Joveth missed an opportunity to explain to the community why this event is so important. Either he does not understand the importance or he lacks a metric to measure how his actions and those of the GMs in question affect community cohesion. Integrity matters in real life and in communal games. There are validated methods of developing metrics both in real life communities and in virtual communities that might go a long way toward giving Bioware a firm handle on measuring community cohesion and conforming design and operational decisions to increasing the cohesion that is necessary for growth in a communal game. Do a search on "Sense of Community" and "Sense of Virtual Community" for a few papers on the matter. Or email me and I can start you with a reading pack. Carba
  8. I don't give a bye to commercial enterprises that make false promises. I got the buff, there was no statement at all that it was for Nightmare only. Just some vague explanations after the fact that their programmers and designers can't talk to each other. much less QC.
  9. We completed EV hardmode in under 2 hours last night. This is confirmed by combat logs, screenshots and Fraps. Although all the mobs were awarded to me for quests, I did not get the title, nor did several other group members. You can track your status by a buff showing the time remaining. It's a good idea to take a screen shot of that tooltip when you start. Our group members started losing the buff about half way through. By the end, all the buffs showing time remaining were gone, although there was still a good ten minutes remaining. Please clarify how the starting and ending times are calculated. Are they the same for each group member? Is there some silent rule disqualifying some group members partially completed but not all group members. Is the ending time when SOA dies or when you exit EV? Is it the same time for everyone? What causes the timer buff to disappear for some but not all group members? As an aside, you have in other posts suggested to contact customer service. I did, and their response was to contradict me and state it was not completed in two hours without bothering to ask for the combat logs and screenshots. The evidence clearing proves it was completed in under two hours. Either you have silent disqualification rules or the title system is not working as intended.
  10. 1. Overall, very nice upgrade to the UI customization 2. GTN functionality is well designed, bu poorly implemented and QC was absent 3. On UI, if I put a Quickbar just above the PlayerFrame, the buffs overlap the Quickbar whenever there is more than one row. This behavior changed with 1.2.1 because the buffs were under the Quickbar with 1.2. The earlier behavior should be the correct one. I am a medica and prefer having a bar right in from of me next tot he Ops frame. 4. I play IA medic and this class has no standout benefits for group play. Even with the 1.2 changes, IA medic cannot maintain the sustained HPS as a sorc. In critical Ops bosses like SOA, the restriction of Recuperative Nanotech AOE heal to 4, make an IA healre a liability.
  11. I had to redo all three bosses after completing the first five Codex entries to get the title.
  12. It's been reported by many players that they did not get a title nor 9th Codex entry for the Rakghoul event. I've read that a dev said the work around is to kill the boss again. I've done this twice now with no effect. Any ideas?
  13. While I am actively typing an email to my guild, why don't you log me out for inactivity? You could erase my email in progress WHILE I AM TYPING on the theory I'm exploiting the game by being inactive. This would enhance the customer experience by enraging players so they stop communicating with each other in an MMPOG. Oxymoron there. Wait .... you already do this. Never mind.
  14. It's fine to have a name filter. It's not fine to be so restrictive that named figures in the Star Wars historical universe are prohibited. e.g Bratkiss is restricted presumably due to the embedded work "kiss".
  15. Well, its got to be tough on the guy who caused a $30m mistake. However, please keep him at Bioware. I don't want him going to BoA.
  16. In my opinion, the nerfs to Concealment are strategically motivated and not "balance" motivated. By this, I mean that Concealment specs should be relatively rare from a strategic game design perspective for three reasons. First, players almost universally hate getting attacked from stealth. Second, Operative medics are needed in game so denying Concealment & Lethality effective mechanics is tantamount to increasing medics. Third, to achieve high alpha strikes you select abilities/buffs that lower your average sustained dps, making you unwelcome in Operations. To achieve these strategic objectives, the obvious design objective is to incrementally nerf Concealment until enough people leave it, which is what I did (after playing Spy/Stealth for seven years). Its not worth my time to fight against the obvious. Stealth in TOR is effectively a defensive stat in TOR and not an effective offensive stat. You should basically ignore stealth in TOR as an offensive ability IMHO.

"Operative Elite Upgrade Leggings" are a quest reward on Taris. They are white with tan colored shin guards and holster.
  18. Hmmm. Maybe allow assigning a mp3 to change the giggle to a sound of your choosing. Works for my phone.
  19. Hmmm. Maybe because the roles they conceive of are healer, dps, or tank. No place for a concelment specialist.
  20. To the OP: So why should thousands of IAs be nerfed because a small number of IA's have figured out how to stack various multipliers in ways the devs clearly did not anticipate? Few IAs will go to the lengths to stack all these multipliers together with PvP bonuses. It seems like a better solution would be to limit the bonus stacking at the high end. If the devs failed to appreciate this with IAs, its likely they also failed with other professions. We just don't have the accumulated evidence after only a month. So, the pathway they have set out is to nerf a million players because a handful learn how the system works in ways the devs do not. This approach makes no sense and is bad karma.
  21. Nerfing a core class ability by so much so soon after launch is a bad omen for the future. This will start the class-on-class harping that has been the downfall of other MMOs.
  22. Nerfing core class talents by such a large amount is a bad omen. SWG went down this development pathway and drove people away. They blamed the customer losses on poor communication. But communication cannot hide the fundamental nature of a "bait and switch" operation: offer a nice ability that people spend a month to grind and then take it away.
  23. I overleveled and got my friends to apply all four class buffs. Simple.
  24. As configured, SWTOR does not permit the client to be logged in on one computer and the website on another computer. I routinely use two computers since I need one to play and other to make notes or search for information about a quest. The restriction against the client and website being open on different computers is not needed for security purposes and should be dropped. It would be less onerous if the client could be Alt-Tabbed more easily. As it is, the client seems to unnecessarily reload the entire game on each Alt-Tab.
