  1. This advice is dumb, dont do it

even if you LOSE the wz you should top the damage chart as a watchman every game..

Agree with pretty much everything you say but this,

Really? dmg is more important than winning a wz? I've had wz where i was 100k off top dmg but made a few vital interrupts just so i could die 2 seconds after that.

Also not to derail completely; the 15% extra crit chance on slash is nice if you're focus spec, in watchman you shouldn't use slash a lot. if you do, look at your rotation

  2. Hi there

I play on a french PvE server and i love PvP. I think i made a mistake chossing a PvE server...

I am looking any advice to optimize war hero stuff on a Sentinel ? I am full stuff WH with 7 increased pieces.

If i got heal I can't do better than 540K on VoidStar. I read that some senti/maraus did 600K to 1MK . I think i miss something with my stats.

Thank you in advance for any advice in stuff optimizing

PS : Please don't answer i am noob because it is my first MMO and it is probably true :D

It's always very hard to make statements purely on WZ dmg, but what I suspect is that you are either:

    1) Solo queueing, makes things always harder if people don't work together well

    2) Don't know the other classes very well & how to counter them. I've got 7 out of 8 AC's purely to know which abilities, skilss etc. they use so I learn how to counter them

    3) Just aren't really quick in adapting/reacting to the randomness of pvp

  3. while I understand that many consider this "MMO"...people sub as individuals, and most play as individuals.

so unless you want to be stuck with ~25% population, you would not be in favor of making it a requirement that you have 2 group to be successful.

    pre vs pre--------pug vs pug

and any pre expoiting solo ques by syncing....warn them and then ban them

I don't know why MMOs don't take batter care of the fence sitters....you can't group casuals with Mama's basements

People that play an mmo to play it on their own and then complain about lack of groups are just stupid imo.

Besides that, let's say we are syncing our queueing time, there's a big chance we end up together, there's an equally big chance we end up against each other, I don't see the exploit here.

  4. Does anyone else get the feeling spungey only accepts combat logs if the watchman try of it is higher than the combat?

You, good sir, are a *******. If well played combat outburst watchman. That YOU can't do it doesn't mean it isn't possible.

I am playing watchman myself, played all 3 specs for quite some time, just like the survivability of watchman more than the burst of combat or the massive dmg of focus (all tho focus sucks when it's single target only).

  5. Thanks for the advice so far everyone. I find that Watchguard is not something I want to lose, as being able to lock down a healer almost completely is a huge asset to the team. My main questions so far have been concerning close quarters and force fade.

The range for melee attacks is 4m, and 1 point in close quarters lowers the range of force leap to 5m. Is the convenience added by not having to step back a few feet worth a talent point? Force fade I was considering dropping to pick up focused leap, but I'm not sure how beneficial two points are just for one additional focus. As far as swelling winds is concerned, is force sweep used all that often by watchman specs? I always thought the priority was to keep burns up and continually use merciless slash for our primary damage.

I'm no expert, so any advice is very appreciated, and I enjoy seeing multiple opinions on what talents are worth investing in.

I usually only use force leap to inerrupt stuff when people are capping either doors/turrets. So the decreased cooldown isn't worth it imo, because other than that as watchman you usually don't use it so it will be off cooldown.

As for the close quarters, I find myself spending too much time getting in & out of range of enemies if I only have 1 point in it, with 2 I can leap wherever I want, whenever I want. (But also because it helps since I use the vindicator war hero set for a +10% dmg bonus after leap)

I stay away from force fade, it's only 2 seconds more in stealth IF you don't do any direct dmg. The amount of times I've ended my force cloak early by attacking again after 2 seconds is just way too high to actually increase the time of cloak by another 2.

This is the build I'm currently using:

    http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/jedi_knight/sentinel/#::fe2f2ef6df7e5fe11f19:

I put 2 points in inflammation because of the extra slow it gives me, find it very useful.

2 points in close quarters as I explained above

2 in watchguard, love my interrupts & pacify is just awesome to annoy other marauders/sents

Put 1 in Jedi crusader, gives me 10 focus on average if rebuke lasts full 30 secs, I know this point is highly debatable, not sure if it's worth it, but feel like i have to use strike less often than without this point.

And then I put 2 points in defensive rolls, just gives more survivability in the aoe spam.

Didnt put any points in Master focus, master strike seems fine as it is for me, and the amount of times you can't finish it has just convinced me that it's not worth 2 skillpoints.

  6. But lets say if i take all the mods out of a Rakata Medium and threw them into a Elder Blades vest medium armor

will the stats be the same? as if the elder blades vest is compared to Rakata? both with same mods?

You already answered your own question didnt you? Medium armor with the same mods as rakata = rakata medium armor. The only thing you won't have is the set bonus, since that only transfers from campaign gear

  7. So is Inflamation truly a PvP-only ability? For example, is it really better to have a 100% chance of +1 Focus from Force Leap by putting 2 pts in Focused Leap than it is putting those 2 pts in Inflamation?

I've still got a ways to go before I can get Tier 6, but at some point I'll have to choose between the two.

Alternatively I could also put one in each (getting 50% chance of +1 focus on leap and 50% chance of slow on cauterize), but that may be watering them both down too much.

    Thoughts?

Why would you want too slow a BOSS's movement speed in raids? they usually stay at the same spot anyway and will be tanked by a tank (ofc). Your job as dps is to hit that bastard while the tanks job is to keep him where he is most of the time.

On a side note: Afaik, all operation bosses have a buff that prevents them from being slowed

Please give me one example where it is useful to slow a boss down, I'd be very surprised if you could come up with any. (Don't get this the wrong way, I'm not trying to flame, just really interested in how you came up with this idea)

  8. Well I need a video then because all the videos that I found and looked up were for jedi guardians. as for sentinels, it some bs that EVERYBODY knows and not the new person because this is the first time that I played this game and never put in the decades of learning how to be a nerd.

never asked for the rude posts (not something I like to see when I wake up in the morning)

If you post on a forum like this you'll always have peopel being rude, deal with it.

Now as far as your problems, have you read the sentinel guide on the classes forum? some useful stuff in there.

Are you using a decent geared companion?

Are you using your defensive cooldowns the right way? (Rebuke only when you get hit for a longer amount of time, Guareded by the force as a 'Oh ****' button so not on 100% HP)

Which rotation do you use? maybe we can help you with that

  9. It's really disheartening to hear. Yet most raid groups that our progressing seem to rather take a shadow over a guardian every-time.

I would love to hear from Bioware, or the community, what reason a raid group would take a guardian tank over a shadow at the current state

and if there is no reason what can be done to change guardians to make them a tank worth having in a raid.

P.S. I know content is still possible to down with Guardians for sure :).

The people you group with are *****.

Yeah it's true that guardians have a harder time, but it's definitely possible to clear EV/KP NiM and EC HM with guardians doing the tanking. It's not as easy, but this game isn't really that hard anyway.

  10. Im going to have to look deeper into this but for now I would like to ask , which stat is responsible for the critical attacks to deal bigger damage? Is it Surge or Power? Or both incorporated somehow? Im having a feeling as if my normal attacks deal 4k dmg but criticals never do anything more. Any speculations?

'You feel like normal attack deal 4k dmg but crits never do anything more'

Da*** is that supposed to mean? There are combat logs, you can look up what the damage is now.

Again, which attacks are you talking about? because I can't think of attack that hit 4k with a normal hit

  11. I think the other two specs are now perfect. But Combat does still need some tweaking. People just assume all Sents and Mars are watchman. So when someone says, "Combat still needs tweaking," they forget how to read and zomg on the OP. Blade Rush is still broken and hesitates.

Combat can do just as much dmg as watchman, l2p, same for focus in pvp. Only in endgame pve I wouldnt take focus, combat can still be fine there. Yes, even in EC HM.

And ability delay is not something only Blade Rush has. Zealous strike, force sweep, merciless slash etc. suffer from that as well, so that is not limited to combat spec

  12. 4 guardian battlemaster pieces and 4 guardian warhero pieces. are u mad?

    Done & Done.

Battlemaster takes maybe 3 days of pvp max. before you have an entire set.

Just got my 4th war hero piece today so going to try it out tomorrow.

Other than that, if you're going for guardian war hero you obviously dont have to get the sentinel war hero.

Also done the math on those pieces (Head, Chest, Glove, Legs, Boots)

So War Hero Vindicator vs War Hero Weaponsmaster (changes compared to battlemaster weaponmaster)

Vindicator War Hero (Upgrade from battlemaster weaponmaster)

    Str: +17

    End: +93

    Acc: -96

    Crit: -74

    Pow: +71

    Surg: +106

Weaponmaster War Hero (Upgrade from battlemaster Weaponmaster)

    Str: +17

    End: +93

    Acc: -149

    Crit: +32

    Pow: -35

    Surg: +159

To me it seems the vindicator has the better stas for sentinels. Since on the weapons the crit you'll lose will be made up for by the war hero weapons, and since power is most awesome stat anyway after acc = 98%, crit rating =300 & surge 73%-75%

  13. While I agree with most of the things you put in this guide, and appreciate the effort, I'm using a little different build

    http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/jedi_knight/sentinel/#::f2ef2efdf12e5fe2fe8f11ef7

I found that by putting 2 points in steadfast (which requires 2 points in defensive forms, so you'd lose master strike dmg + slash crit chance) gave me the options to change up to 2 mods for power surge ones instead of accuracy.

Also I tend to use master strike not that often during raids. Usually at the start as you suggest, but once you get the coodldown of MS (merciless slash) down to 7.5 secs, I rarely find the time to spend 3 secs on masterstrike. because in those 7.5 secs i usually reapply cauterize or overload and have to make sure i have enough focus for the next MS.

What I tend to do sometimes is let the first 2 hits of master strike hit and then go on with the rest of my abilities. ( the first 2 hits hit within the first 1.5 secs (so just the GCD) usually)

  14. Thanks for the reply... That's exactly what I wanted to know... Wasn't sure about mixing pve gear.... Again thanks

Yeah np, just keep in mind that in pvp everything is worth less than expertise.

Ofc 100 power is better than 10 expertise, but you know what i'm saying, right?

  15. Give it some time lol.

I'm most of the time watchman, but I always like switching specs at random.

When I'm playing focus spec I pretty much do the same as you do overall (which is also the essence of focus spec).

Build up towards that huge force sweep. I can hit it for around 5-6k if I crit.

The one thing you might want to change is force leap as 'general' opener, if it's possible to just run to a target i'd do that and open with zealous strike. If you get a KB then it's easier to get back on target

And with focus it's definitely possible to get as much dmg as a combat or watchman, just means you need to do you aoe's in groups & not on single targets.

  16. I'm a new lvl 50 jk/watchman.... I lvld mostly thru pvp.... I have 2 other lvl 50 toons a bh and a trooper both full BM with some war hero gear... But I really dig the jk/wm and need advice on gear... I mostly pvp so not too concerned with pve gear.... What should my gear goal b?

Well asuming you're asking for the obvious answer: you'll want full augmented gear with war hero armoring + mods

2 augmented sabers with war hero stuff, war hero implants + earpiece. Also War hero relics, belt & bracers seem like a nice touch.

Not really sure what kind of answer you expected to get here other than the obvious

  17. Actually, this is debatable. When I dispatch 95% of the time I'm in melee range anyways, and my Guarded is almost always up whenever I need it. So, personally, I find the PvP set bonuses useless, and I would take

some extra damage over nothing any day.

Again, depends on your playing style. If you're Watchman, the changes to Inflammation should make it unlikely anyone can get away from you, which renders one of the two bonuses moot. And given the fact I only die around 4-5 times in a usual WZ, I don't really feel a need to have the Guarded CD reduced.

On the question of using force leap as an interrupt...

Learn the abilities to interrupt. You should never need more than kick, stasis and awe to successfully kill a healer.

Definitely agreeing on the part that our current set bonusses aren't that great. They can be useful in certain situations, but i've never had issues with the cooldown on GbtF, Dispatch range can be nice when rooted/slowed but is also very situational.

By taking the 10% increase, you don't automatically spam force leap. You still have to think about the use of it, but if you were to use it while killing a healer it would only make your job easier.

Also I can see 1 vs 1 fights (ie defending or trying to steal a turret/objective) be very good situations where 10% extra damage can be good. (This is purely speaking for watchman pvp, I've got little to none experience with combat or focus in lvl 50 pvp)

However if you think that you should have killed healer by the time you've used stasis, kick & awe, then you don't have very good healers on your server. Definitely not saying I need more than that for every healer, but for good healers i definitely need to use leap as well to properly interrupt + kill them

As far as pve concerned, I quite like the lower cost of dispatch. It makes you able to spam even more high dmg abilities when it starts to matter.

Also keep in mind the game is still quite buggy, sometimes a leap during bossfight will put you on the wrong side of the hitbox. Which can be very deadly for you.

  18. Our douche of a Sentinel hit 1936 DPS on Karagga in 16 HM. Im sure the gloating ***** will post the parse.

He uploaded it to the ranking site: http://www.dpsmeter.com/rankings.php

    OP ******es.

Ps. much <3 from a jaded commando.

I've hit 1700-1900 DPS as well on boss fight because of all different sorts of debuffs casted on a boss, doesnt tell you anything by comparing karagga in a 16 man ops to a dummy training droid.

Having said that, I hammered for about 10 mins on the dummy. Got about 1480-1500 out of it, dropped a bit because combat doesnt instantly finish.

    http://www.torparse.com/a/25104

I had only our class buff + smuggler buff. No stims, also didnt use relics. Had matrix cube & 1 rakata relic equiped.

My gear is full rakata (Head, Chest, Gloves, Legs, Boots).

Belt & bracer; Medium armor orange with rakata lvl armoring + power mod

Got augmented sabers, updated with rakata mods & hilt (1 strenght & 1 crit augment)

Implants were both Black Hole Pummeler, Earpiece rakata as well.

  19. you don't have to RE somethign to find out if you can learn it. Hit RE, hover over the item, look at the tooltip, it will tell you if you have a chance to learn it or not. Win

Only thing is that i don't trust the tooltip. Because i've had things saying i couldnt learn something actually giving me a new schematic and things that said there was a 20% chance and then when i clicked it said: 'Not possible to RE this item'

  20. +405 to power for 20 seconds = best in slot for a Watchman.

I have an augmented Rakata one which adds +380 and has a +89 endurance and +18 power on it so I'm using that right now. As soon as I crit on my Campaign one, I will put an augment into it and it will replace my Rakata relic. My 2nd relic is the one from KP HM that does the +224 damage proc (IIRC, could be off a little on that number). As soon as I get my 2nd set of 200 daily comms, I will get the Campaign version of it (haven't decided whether I'm going to risk another R/E on a 200 daily comm item, lol) and my relic slots will be complete till 1.3. :D

If you would be so kind to clarify this for me: You actually learned a schematic from reversing a campaign relic? If yes, is it BoE or BoP after crafting?

As far as the relics concerned i found that using the matrix cube gave me better dps than using the rakata relic from KP.

I can't remember where I kept that log, but after hammering on my training dummy for about 5/6 mins i got maybe 8~10K dmg out of the KP relic, so I'm questioning it's viability in PvE.

10K dmg over let's say an entire boss fight (pretty much always 5/6 mins if you messure enrage timers) seems a bit useless.

As I said don't have the log anymore but I'm quite sure my dmg with matrix cube was higher.

  21. Blablabla about sentinel.

Really? sentinel is not OP? Are. You. Mental?

There is no class matched in 1v1 to a well played sent/mara.

Wether it's watchman, combar or focus, the burst dmg & sustained is just way too high to be competitive with other classes.

Yes, I play a sentinel. No I'm not the most awesome player, but I still faceroll so much people in pvp.
