  1. Will people stop with sensationalist thread names. Where are the nerfs? Scoundrel healer seems to be buffed which im happy about, commando med shot nerf isnt a big deal considering it's a filler resource management ability anyway and your job as commando is to burst heal not to top people off with med shot. Medical probe seems to be a bit weaker now but has higher crit. Good. Commando is all about crits, not raw power.
  2. HM Battle Of Rishi Queued up as guardian tank, pop, hello, inspect gear: dps in good gear, healer in basic 186 no augments, shouldnt be a problem, ppl do this in 178 gear anyway. Reached first boss: even as a full 192 set bonus guardian I kept taking loads of damage, healer wouldn't cleanse poison, his Adv Medical Probe would heal for like 4k too. Popped cooldowns at the right times, health packs, etc... still a wipe after the wookie died. Started typing explanation about cleansing poison and checked my inventory if I had any stims to give to healer... Too late. Kicked for being a **** tank by a commando dps. Good times. /ignored . I'm sure they had a lot of success when a "good tank" showed up. SM Ravagers Started a group as guardian tank with a shadow DPS guildie. Found 8 people pugs on fleet (one DPS invited the other 2 DPS, all from the same guild). I asked if there any first timers -- no response. Me and my guildie, as well as the healers went to the Ravagers instance. Waiting. Waiting. me: you guys coming? One dps guy: Can you summon? me: No, sorry, don't have flagship. dps guy: I'm lost dps guy: I'm used to being summoned me: want me to hold your hand? dps guy: yes Went out of the instance to bring them, they finally found their way inside. Inspected their gear. All 3 of them in mostly 168/178 gear, no augments. In my book it's unacceptable, since you get Ziost 190 easily in like 30 mins of playtime. Whispered to other tank "this might take a while, just a heads up". Sparky took a while, healer had to type "attack boss instead of adds now" a few times, probably the longest sparky kill I've ever been part of but we made it. Loot, /roll, moving on. Bulo: well, of course we "got crabs" before the entrance. Then "any volunteers for barrels?" the shadow tank: "I'll do it". Pretty much nobody used aggro drops, melee dps kept standing behind me (in front of the scatter attacks). Was a long fight, we somehow managed without wipes. Mostly credit to healers, they had to bring the dps pretty much from death beds every 5 secs (dps should know that blue circles = bad by now) Torque: the healer said from the start that our dps is low, we probably should do consoles and watch for repairs. We kind of didn't. Timer ran out. Wipe. Okay, let's do it proper. Took a while, we somehow managed when we kept the boss in the middle so the dps wouldn't aoe the bots. Master and Blaster: other tank wanted blaster, I took master. Pretty straight up fight, people stayed out of AoE, healers helped with the Master's beam of doom, the DPS kept attacking the wrong target even as we typed directions. Enrage. Wipe. Try again. Another really long barely sub-enrage fight later MnB was down. Moving on. Cora: explained one of the fun time dpsers how to do the button. My guildie volunteered but we insisted that a rdps should do it. The sage pushed the button like once, then me and the shadow dps had to run to the button on and off during the fight. Oh and it took a bunch of yelling to direct people to attack Pearl first, even though we explained the tactic before the fight. Phase 2 went quite smooth although the "hostages" kept getting attacked". After a while we did it. Very close to the timer limit. Overall, wasn't a bad run, just probably the longest SM Ravagers I've ever been part of. On just the edge of enrage on all bosses (and over it a couple of times). I felt like I needed a shower and a nap afterwards. Conclusion: DPS please PLEASE get ziost gear and some augments before you do OPS. And if someone types "Any first timers?" please respond correctly. It's annoying when you make people trust that you know what you're doing and you don't. Why didn't I kick them when I inspected their gear? Curiosity.
  3. I'm sorry you're bad at the game and do not understand the fundamentals of the Tank/DPS/Heal trinity. Nobody wants you dpsing, you're just a bad tank who has no idea how to play his role. You said you have done most of the content, yet you never mentioned the only content that matters at lvl 60 which is the two operations (and ziost boss) on two difficulty levels. Nothing up to that point is relevant. If you haven't done those you have done nothing. Doing lvl 50 HM operation at lvl 60 is the same as bragging that you can one-shot lvl 2 mobs on Tython. DPS tank doesnt work in pve and it never will unless they make this game like Guild Wars 2 or something. The mechanics of the game aren't art, they're technology. Technology has linear progression and it has clear ways of being improved and clear things to consider that are inferior. They way you choose to play is inferior and it will always be. If you are okay with being subpar and nowhere near at your class potential, feel free to do so. Your suggestion has absolutely zero practical benefit and it contradicts the way the class system and boss balance is set up. A marathon runner is free to chop off one of his legs and continue forward, he might reach finish line in the end but he's not winning any medals. Unless it's special kind of olympics where everyone's a winner and it's always a tie. You seem to fit that crowd better.
  4. There are no "builds" in this game and no skill trees. There's a linear progression path and you either gear up to make the most of your advantages and disadvantages or you don't. Tank in DPS gear is useless in accomplishing both things and the rest of the team have to carry this silly monkey along. All you said so far is that you got carried by other people despite your ingame disability. Btw you have provided no proof that you did anything remotely challenging with your "build". Level 50 ops do not count, how about you post a HM Bulo vid at least to prove it. Most guides and suggestions rely on empirical evidence, calculations, studying of each class and making the most of it. You just post vague non-answers and assume that anyone that finds your unproven claims ridiculous are trolling. There is a very simple way of shutting "trolls" like me up. Prove it. At this moment, general consensus among people who have actually accomplished and proven that they know what they're talking about, is that dps tank is nonsense. As far as the game balance and team dynamics go, you are tough to heal like any other dps in direct line of fire, except you are a waste of heals cause you don't even do enough dps to make your participation mean something. Might as well just roll a sentinel and try to "tank" with it. Your gimped tank stance 2k DPS means nothing. In hard mode ops tanks that actually do what they're supposed to do and well geared DPS in DPS gear get way better results. *********** the whole raid team dynamic for a miniscule damage "contribution" and having zero value as far as your intended role is concerned, is not creative. It is selfish and stupid.
  5. Haha tank in dps gear in pve. I'm sure "Accept Revive" is in your main rotation. You're just a zero contribution to the ops team, your dps is miniscule even in dps gear compared to a real dps spec (I mean, come on, you won't even be pushing 2.6k DPS which is what even sages get in basic 186 gear and they're the weakest dps spec in the game atm) and you're an unnecessary burden on healers. Good luck finding an ops team, anyone with a brain would votekick you before you can type "hi guys im unique and a free thinker". What tank in dps gear has: weak dps and no mitigation. What it contributes to the team: drains healer resources, the damage has absolutely zero chance to make up for complete lack of defenses. Install parsec and check your dps. It just makes you useless and worst of both worlds. It gives me a migrane just trying to imagine raiding with someone like you. Good that you "soloed through the game", I hope it doesnt mean leveling from 1 to 60 cause that anyone can do in lvl 11 green gear. It means nothing. This is one of those games where there is the "best way" to do things, this is not free form that you can mix and match stats and make your own unique character. Every class has an optimal way for doing things, there isn't much room for being a unique snowflake.
  6. What's a decent universal utility point setup for tanking? I really don't feel like respeccing for every boss. Thanks.
  7. Pretty much this. It is the most intimidating thing to start out as a tank, there's a lot of pressure from other players, and since you're the first line of defense any kind of group failure you tend to attribute that failure to yourself. It's less about it being hard in terms of playing it's more about the psychology of it. Some people just don't want to deal with it and find it too daunting. In 8 man raid, let's say you're a DPS, it's easier to blend into the crowd and give "pro tips" from the sidelines, when you're a tank every mistake is in a spotlight. If people stopped being complete ***** to new tanks it would be great. Some smug RDPS making snarky comments from sidelines don't help. Of course, when you get some tanking experience and understand that it's not your job to do EVERYTHING and the rest of the group are also responsible for their survivability, they have CC abilities, aggro drops and such, it's easier to share the blame and have more fun.
  8. I dont get these "Oh, it didn't bug out for me" posts. That's like when someone asks a group a question and then a guy raises his hand and says "I don't know". Escape pod bug exists and it needs to be fixed.
  9. Ok, I guess 25%/75% for dps classes is old way of thinking, I'll try with less surge/crit
  10. Hi, how much crit/surge should I go for in 186 gear? I'm aiming for 25% critical chance and 75% multiplier, is that allright?
  11. Yea I'm planning on putting 350k creds to guild bank to accumulate enough money over time for Artifact Authorization thing too, the GM is gonne buy it for me
  12. Fleet chat is generally full of toxic nonsense and arguing over petty ********, I'd rather there be no chat whatsoever in SH
  13. Oh that's great news, thanks. Also, who are these idiots that are selling ops passes for over 350k
  14. Hi, my sub is about to run out and I'll become preferred status, I would like to know if I will be able to roll/receive token gear from operations. I know, that I need artifact authorization to use it, but without the authorization will I able to store it in my inventory?
  15. Hello, I've been bangin my head against the wall for the past few days trying to get the stats for my Tactics Vanguard right. I only have access to the 186 gear from Basic Comm vendors and what's available on GTN, and I want to make the best of it to prepare for SM raids. The best parse I've had so far was 3.43k DPS, and it was with 222surge/ala 350 crit rating (at least on Dulfy it said it was the "optimal ratio" ) and 780 accuracy. I have like 6 power augments, and 186 yavin gear. All the guides i found seem to be confusing in general, so I would like to ask players who actually have experience with this stuff and would recommend what are the proper Crit, Accuracy, Surge, Alacrity stats from 186 gear that would make the most of it. Is it the more base/bonus damage thats important for Tactics or the dmg you get from high crit/surge crits? I'm mainly tanking with my Vanguard but I need a DPS option too (like to switch to DPS for single tank Underlurker fight), never played a DPS class previously . And I hate the idea of a DoT spec, I'm really liking the rotation of Tactics, it's all very instant.
  16. Ye wot m8. Jugg Is the only viable Sith Warrior option now.
  17. All these tears are so delicious! PLEASE MORE, MORE, MORE, I NEED YOUR QQ
  18. Need a thick long hilt to compensate for something?
  19. I still can't believe that some people honestly think that Bioawre owes them something. This is the definition of gamer entitlement. It is a simple exchange of goods and services, in this case a monthly subscribtion. You pay for one month, you get to play the game for one month with sub benefits. The deal for that month ends there, the fact that you played for a month does not give you any entitlements for anything in the coming months. You don't earn karma or buddy points with bioware just because you have spent an X amount of money on the game, because the money you spent already got the services provided to you for that money. They do not stack up for the future. If you do not believe that the cost is worth the service anymore, simply do not pay for the service just like any responsible adult would. And seriously, the game was fine without the slot machines, bioware put them in for a bit to see how they're gonna go and it clearly did not yeld the desirable results so they were altered. Suddenly everyone feels like they're entitled to something they only had for a few moments. Geez. Like a bunch of children. Had a taste of getting something with zero effort and can't let go.
  20. Haha sad gambler addicts cannot indulge in ther drug of choice anymore. Enjoy your detox.
  21. I mean, 8 euros a month to hang out with guildies, do raids (I treat them like it's playing Left 4 dead and borderlands), play the market, do PvP. Well worth it for me. Better than buying another terrible Ubisoft release for 60 bucks
  22. I'm subbing. This game is quite enjoyable, actually.
