  1. Except it either costs a lot of money to get the resources to craft usable or even costlier to craft rare items... or takes time to gather the extra resources. Cyber tech is not as easy as you make it sound... nor is any craft that people plan on RE'ing stuff for good or rare items before reaching cap. (at cap people can do dailies and collect resources for example (time consuming but multi tasking), or buy from GTN - costly) To just level crafts thats a lot easier than using them before they are maxed out at 400.
  2. Would be useful if there was a guide to modding HK, since people report issues with that, and how to avoid those issues.
  3. Sounds too fun to be implemented. It might ruin all the work we put into this game. /sarcasm
  4. cybertech and i guess other crafts can make droid gear. maybe its a market for them now to profit from? I hope this is resolved soon considering the scaling or lack off issue. Also if a person does the hk-driod missions, does that mean it has to be completed for both republic and imperial sides to be useable as a legacy perk?
  5. Its mil. not mio. Its bad enough there is a metric and empirical system. we dont need different spellings for the same multiple systems. Also why would you want hk-51 on every character? And secondly what makes you think its because of f2p. Things have to be earned in this game, and there are many ways to earn credits including using the cash shop. I dont want to see infinite amounts of hk's running around on people's mains and alts... and this makes sure that people when they decide to try out the fun new story of a new class, at least they wont be running around with hk like every body else if it was that easy to get. Be practical please, and dont make ridiculous assumptions. 1 mil. is not easy to get, but its not because of f2p that it costs 1 million. The WH elite hilt costs around 6 million, so there are things which are a lot more expensive in the GTN including vanity items which are non essential.
  6. Put in on a back up disk. I have it backed up. But only for 1.3. I have not backed up swtor for 1.4. And If i decide not to, before 1.5, and I have a problem then that means I have to patch 1.4 and 1.5. So... for me, I would be wise to back up the game to have it in case of a re install. I didn't want to at first, but I am in the same situation with limited download capacity and also sharing the internet. If they made me mayor for a couple of days I would fix my problem... and pretend to fix others... im sure they have bureaucratic reasons. But the UN said it is a right... so, it should be a top priority in every country to have fast internet not just as a right... but for business.
  7. Why is my server going down? Wasnt the hype about the hero engine that they could patch while the game is live? Why dont they have a back up server I can play on and then transfer the data. Why do I have to ask these questions? Why did I leave a question mark out of one of my questions? Thanks for creating this thread to consolidate our concerns.
  8. Pet fighting that involves gambling. Im in. Before people start arguing about ratings... look at your tv... its a lot worse. SW has gambling, and sister kissing. And people want to worry about ratings over gambling so their kids can play. Its an MMO, kids should not be playing MMOs unsupervised thats for sure. Or otherwise they will put too much time into the game. Therefore if an MMO is not for kids, then they should cater more for adults with reasonable content that is also not offensive or too niche that it restricts certain adults/or younger adults from wanting to participate with that development. This game has pole dancers in the cantina. Are we still stuck on the idea that gambling is bad for swtor? It will make this game better. And its not offensive. If parents do not want their kids to play in gambling games for fake money then they dont have to, or better yet they shouldn't play an MMO unsupervised because they will probably give up a lot of other opportunities in their lives by playing MMOs. Or maybe parents would like to pay the bills for swtor to keep the game running. Not just the server bills, but also development costs... or otherwise its called catering to the demands of the market, and very reasonable demands as well. So when the heck are we going to see pazaak, or swoop racing in this game. I dont even necessarily want it to involve gambling... but if it had gambling it would be huge for swtor. And player bounties.
  9. Give lvl 50 legacy the ability to customize more with existing items. For example we can use a dye system, or color our speeder with certain colors and use a combination of different patterns as well. edit: also i am not lvl 50 legacy. however... restricting it from people without the legacy is not the intention, but makes it accesible for free for the ones with lvl 50 legacy.
  10. The F2P can be a very good thing, but the future also needs some proper development. The F2P model is meant to keep the game running for longer, and they will need to make the content people are expecting. Does BW devs know what a large portion of the subscribers want? The people new to the game and just finidhed lvl 50 will want more end game, just for end game. The people who are new to the game will want things along the way to be better, however its pretty good, but it gets old quickly after a while, and that is why BW devs need to still add more along the way to keep old players and new players interested when they can play WoW and there is a new Blizzard MMO coming soon. What are the things along the way? Player bounties, more open world pvp mechanics, player housing, ship decoration, more character customization, day/night cycles, non-human alien species, pazaak, swoop racing, Speeders in the OPEN world that reach 200% speed and accelerate and decelerate. (This allows for open world racing, encourages exploration as well- and the the way the speeder works is either allow acceleration to work from 0-200% speed or from 110% the speed varies, and will need to add collision detection and physics of inertia to make deceleration important around turns. Have more public quests - For example in Nar shadaa - - Have quests for important/historical figues like in Kotor that are chain quests with unique rewards relating to that person End game -Add more customization for pvp and stop increasing stats with new tier of gear and making people do the gear grind all over again. As for pve, i understand the need for gear grinds especially for Nightmare mode and making ti fun with unique rewards... but don't mix raid philosophy with pvp philosophy. -Player housing -Guild mechanics - non instanced guild castles -3d space combat I have played a lot of swtor and also put a lot of time into pvp for several characters since early times of the game... and one of my characters that I spend a lot of time getting gear for has BM gear which was a big deal before 1.2, but now BM gear is easy to get, and does not compare to WH gear. Bioware in an instant made all my invested time useless by now not having the top gear. I want the BM gear that I earned before 1.2 to be WH gear for my character, and I also want WH gear to be the last of the pvp tier of gear for lvl 50 or any lvl actually. You want people to play your game and enjoy it? Then dont treat your customers like idiots and make the gear grind longer without adding more to your game. How about large sieges, player housing - instanced and possibly non-instanced guild housing? Then maybe you can add another tier of gear... but not for another measly WZ making us work all over again... or did BW forget that they also have a legacy system that encourages people to play alts. How do you expect people to play alts and play competitively at end game for pvp? This is a big mistake, and this is why you are paying the price for people leaving your game. You made the gear grind for OPs easy and for pvp not easy. Except the problem is you cant make content quick enough for OPs but WZ is repeatable content that is meant to be competitive more and less about gear grinds. I swear, the problem is that there are enough MMO addicts to make people have to waste their time over gear grinds, because that is what makes MMO successful... apparently since its the themepark strategy of end game gear grinds... but at least they try to make it so its fun... So in other words, I have to waste my time playing in the same instanced non-important WZ (does not affect he world in any way) repeatedly to get gear to just play competitively and then stand on the fleet because it is a successful model based on addictive personalities of people. Also, Dont forget 1.2, and how they reset the gear grind... so I am also posting that as a problem and people redoing the grind as well with the overall limitations that exist with the few WZs in the game.
  11. 1. Hire asian and russian video game developers/programmers. 2. Have people who are MMO veterans working on swtor and put those ideas to use. 3. Have people who want to make swtor great and not drive it to the ground. (where are the mini games?)
  12. The state of the game ignores hot topics of the specific answers people are looking for. You say the game has more updates, and that is great, but having more WZ's and more OP's and even more FPs does not solve the problem of swtor not having a day/night cycle, swoop racing, pazaak, duel arenas, tournament system with mini games, solo rank pvp, open world pvp, Large WZ's, a more sand box approach to the open world in swtor that adds to repeatability. If swtor devs care about keeping players interest then can they afford to work on major projects that are important to keep player interested for longer? We know they are working on the secret space project, mean while working on OP's, WZ, and FP's. But the content people are concerned about more of is actually story. Not the WZ's and the other very easy to consume content. BW devs are fighting an uphill battle by trying to make content that only keeps people slightly more amused without adding the things for an MMO. If they add more WZs that is great, but then the game also needs to turn more into an e-sport. So where are the duel arenas, adn tournament systems? The solo rank for pvp? What is the actual content being released in 6 weeks? That is the concern. And I think this blog does not even begin to answer those questions but just re-emphasize something we already heard... people apparently leaving because there is not enough content and they will make more quicker. Its not the lack of ops, wz, or FPs. Problems are: 1. Ops/FPs give gear rewards to quickly. If you are going to have a nightmare mode make the gear grind for that longer, and have something very rewarding as well. 2. No player ship decoration. 3. Chat bubbles (for Rpers) 4. Sand box pvp, guild castles, player housing, seiging - or something that offers a similar experience which is not existent in swtor. This adds longeivty to the game. 5. No 3d space combat 4. lack of mini games and social activities 6. Pazaak/swoop racing has no timeline when its going to be released 7. Story content released sooner than later. 8. No Day/night cycle 9. Reward system is not epic. Yes, we need quests that give people epic rewards from famous people. I got a vibro sword for Ludo Kreesh, and it looks like the starter vibro sword, and it was a random drop. I dont go to Ludo Kreesh tomb, or some secret place on a quest leading to the acquisition of this sword, but it was just a random drop from a FP. Thats a big *** for me. 10. Gambling. Its in the movies, its fun, and it keeps players interested. Get on it. 11. Lack of pvp development 12. Lack of choice for RPG story or side quest - only dark side or light side alignment 13. Better A.I. life routine 14. Have packs of NPCs to allow for aoe pulling 15. Character customization should be more 16. More races that look less humaniod 17. Legacy perks should allow for quicker lvling. I think this is a difficult situation to offer the right thing, but for me, the want to play all over again is reduced when the end game for me is not great. There is very little RPing for me. Other than the avatar. If I could gamble, go to duel arenas, have a rank in pvp, or play some social mini games with other players... then those add reasons for me to have other characters. And since those things are missing, I just want to play the story, nothing else, and therefore for me, side questing after doing them, becomes a chore. I feel that lvling should be quicker until end game offers more content to allow for people interested in lvling quicker with legacy perk. Or the want to play alts will diminish and the game will be more for people playing only one character, and that is why people left in the first place instead of playing alts. As MMO players you gave them a long story, but the not cake at the end. So you treated your game as an MMO but without the major content for that. I know there are people who play alts, and people who still play thier characters collecting all codex, pets etc... but the big picture is what is at stake. How can the game develop something from today in its current state to make the most people happy including the ones that are happy with the current state of the game. And I believe releasing more pets, vehicles, OPs, FPs, and WZs without major other content ... even with F2P and a cash shop can be disasterous for swtor in the long run. So there are still questions... what is the SSSP? when is that being released? If the SSSP is something large, and 3d space combat, and released relatively soon, then that is a very good sign of a strong future for swtor... so I am going to look at SSSP as an indicator as to what to expect as major content from swtor... other than story and PVE. edit: They said they had 2000 employees. Lets say they each made around 30'000 a year. Which is a very low number. And worked on the project for 5 years. 30'000*5=150'000 per person for 5 years 2000 employees = 2000*150'000=300'000'000 just in salaries. I think we officially live in the matrix.
  13. For the companion feature, they can have it that we kill the companion but go to a FP just for companions to get their clones from DNA samples. And the science can be that the clone remembers everything (such as abilities for lvl 50 or what ever lvl) from the time of the dna was taken without the affection bonus. So a person has to give the companions gifts all over again, and do the story line again but without exp. They could have done something like that... because just being able to kill them and not get more companions is not something that is doable for MMOs. If it was a single player game, you save, then choose kill option, then can load back if you want.
  14. Thats just your play-style with your interest. Its normal for certain people to lose interest in a certain thing, but with a new addition find it interesting again. For example watching a movie that is a triology. You can watch the same movie over and over again, and share the ideas in the movie with friends, and after a while you might look for a new fad or new interest... a new movie for a different genre might be the new thing, but then the second movie for that triology is released and your excitement is rekindled. You will probably enjoy the updates/expansion as much as you enjoyed the first few days.
  15. I agree there should be some improvement with side quests. Directions of quests can be very simple and focus more on NPC character development. Then expect people to read in more details of the quest. For example if someone is an explorer, and the quest is about finding some treasure, then there are some detailed notes to find that treasure, and they can read about it. Have some quests which are not activated by a quest giver but occurring in the area, and only requires interaction. Dynamic events or public quests. Have NPC bounties/player made content possibly. Overall have less NPC quests from random strangers. Have dynamic events. Focus more on chain quests/world arcs and class story. And have more complex quests with puzzles. Maybe heroics that have random map generators with different puzzles of platforming or avoiding alarm systems. An alarm system can bring waves of intruders and introducing escape tactics with different maps randomized. Also my problem with NPC quests is that they become too many in a certain area, but also necessary for the solo player. They make a person stay in a certain area for too long, and this is why with less NPC quests and more dynamic events/heroics/bosses in the open world (bounty system on wanted criminals) they will need areas to be more horizontal lvling friendly. So a person can go to any place on a planet to do their non class quests if they wanted to. And adding more life to the atmosphere. Weather effects, more music, Day/night cycle, NPC routine movement that change with day/night cycle.
  16. Also they should make it so in places like the alderaan WZ the tiles are not tiles of the same looking green color, and have some alternating patterns to look more natural. Of course if these things do not completely destroy the game... it would be nice to have this improvement. And basically without increasing grass radius, since that can fry your computer with overloading it unless you have amazing cooling on your PC, then its better for a majority if the without the grass look was improved, so seeing tiles before the grass appears wont look as bad, and if there could be a certain affect of making things blend iwith the background for grass/green tiles... and make it hazy, like the field of view effect in the game, but with grass/green tiles for something that is not rendered in the out of grass radius. I am not against increasing the radius, but if they do, you will probably reduce the grass quality, and therefore would still want the green tiles, that grass is meant to cover, to look more natural that manufactured.
  17. My names were unique and RP friendly. But they were cool names, and people stole them. I also spend a lot of time thinking of names, and then thinking of the look vs sound etc... so even with RP names it can happen. However, I don't want names to be shared, I like the fact that my name is unique. And if they do make names not unique I request they first make character creation very unique... with more customization options and a lot more races/species.
  18. The asian market will be profitable for swtor, however... since its about VO and cinematic... that can be very tricky to port over to their asian demographic. So it seems that VO internationally is a negative to capitalize from since I doubt they will ever do VO for chinese, and if they dont and its only subtitles then they put a lot of effort into VO that other asian demographics wont enjoy and will only get to enjoy other aspects. And those other aspects are limited or non existent due to the high quality VO and cinematics... so its a big trade-off. In WoW they can easily just port it over with subititles and minimal VO work. So it still is worth it to capitalize in other markets... but to do so... swtor has to take a bigger risk to enter those markets by putting more effort in VO work. I really wish VO was not so costly, and the game had more alternative content such as pazaak, swoop racing... and by the end the year of swtor's anniversary should be 3d space combat... but I dont know whats going to happen, and how they will expand swtor to get more subs other than f2p... and when major 'new' content is coming to swtor.
  19. So in other words, Origin messed up. They limited sales, which was a bad move. Im sure BW/EA could make room for more servers as they adjusted. They also mentioned that they could. So why did they restrict pre-launch sales? I bet they could have sold well over 2 million copies if they actually went global. I am also betting they could have made their money back a lot quicker too, hence less panic mode from EA. And I hope your country can beat the drug war in a good way... whatever that way may be. It might not be as bad as it sounds... but its still bad.
  20. What was this vision, and how did EA change it? Also, if swtor was not rushed, what more could they have added to make it that much more successful? Ranked team pvp? UI customization? Nope. The only thing that would have made it better was to release the game with the legacy system at launch, and that is not that much from release till today which has only more OPs, FPs, and 1 more WZ to date... and still a broken illum. So Im not sure waiting for BW to add one more WZ and a couple of ops, Fps, ranked pvp, ui customization which 3rd parties could have done... would be worth waiting for a 100-200 million dollar investment not to make money. You have also look at what they released after they launched, and it was not something that was game changing... other than the legacy system to make it better to play alts for example.
  21. Horizontal scaling works when there is a greater purpose in the game, and sand box features. For example right now with gear progression it gives an immediate sense of purpose, and the reward quickly translates into an achievement. Its simple and effective... but takes time to offer enough content. So how do you offer horizontal progression that is rewarding, fun, gives a sense of achievement and purpose to the game? There are several ways, and one key way to look at it is more from a sand box perspective that uses horizontal progression as their end game... basically think sand box MMO as offering a greater purpose. However, that is not the be all and end all that secures the concept of horizontal progression since sand box MMOs by themselves are not enough. -As a themepark, this game needs to have more customization. -Player house decoration for ships or better yet actual houses -Instanced housing, or better yet non-instanced housing (but thats towards sand box and a sand box crafting system) -Pazaak -Swoop racing -Gambling -Player bounties -Quests that shape an area by building an alignment with NPCs and can be related to open world pvp (again this is more towards sand box aspect of the game) -Unique items with unique abilities - this is very important with horizontal progression -Also less restrictions - Dual spec, and possible switching AC's -Benefits for doing more completionist activities - which can reward open world pvp for example alignment with NPCs -Duel arenas -Tournament systems -Large WZ's -Exploration and making raids/ops and FP in actual physical locations and not instanced (this is important) -Physical locations for WZ's -Mini games At this point the list is offering more activities, and basically what it does is make the game have so much content that not having the simple carrot on the stick reward system, the game is rewarding enough. That when a person does a raid, they do it not only for customization, completion, helping others, rare items, other benefits... but also for money. Games that have important money sinks change the concept of how we perceive rewards, and that is why having a sand box feature with horizontal scaling is important. So if they add 3d space combat, maybe that can include some sand box features of destructible space ships, destructible guild ships, but there is a lot pvp, and money invovled - made or lost. And sand box on the ground can include non instanced guild fortresses that lead to instanced housing. And having an economy around that. I posted some ideas on this, and basically have WZs that are related to player housing for getting resources, building houses, and having WZs that imitate guild fortresses that allow players to customize the design themselves and beating the guild fortress gives access to the victors and gives them access to resources, and also this be related to an alignment of NPCs and how the NPCs aligned with the guild can affect the area, and the map as well. So quests relating to a certain NPC will be moved to another area. And it can lead to a greater objective as well, of maybe getting guild ranks and having a high guild rank to build a fortress in a safe instanced place on the capital having some political influence as well. But the gist of all this is, there needs to be more content, more customization, more items, more alternatives to a rewarding swtor experience that has a lot of life and depth... and something like a day/night cycle would be very important in a game that has horizontal scaling. Also fixing the side quests to be more dynamic. Its a lot of work, and many video gaming companies have taken a year off to revamp thier games, such Dark fall unholy wars. So its not inconceivable, but to be realistic it has to be close to what already exists in the game. So basically, horizontal scaling begins at lvl 50 as everyone is suggesting, or now with Makeb at lvl 55. And they remove the gear grind for ops and wz... but again... they need a lot of content... so in the future for sure, it will be wise for them to do so... Since the fact they will face is how to offer content to new players starting from lvl1 to reach expansion number 3 with 400 hours of lvling to begin end game, and then spend 200 hours to just get gear for Ops, then spend another 200 hours jsut to get gear for WZs. And after they are done that... the world is static, they are on the fleet, and there is nothing for them to do. So in essence in the current state of the game, it needs a gear grind to hide what is missing from the game which should be a fun, and rewarding game that is about content and not gear grinds. And swtor would greatly benefit by trying to incorporate this, because once they have things like open world pvp, duel arenas, swoop racing that even allows players to make their own custom maps... it becomes a lot of repeatable content that allows players to have fun giving devs more time to work on the content that players will consume quickly like ops/PVE content.
  22. Not inventing nothing, could still mean they invented something. So what do you mean by this statement, and are you willing to stand by it till the end of time 'so help you God'?
  23. Actually he has a point on where it can exist. For example HM FP, and entering the mode with certain restrictions to get certain rewards For example for HM FP, you say you only want one companion and you solo it, and you get a title and a chance to a rare reward. Or use two companions maybe still get a title but have access to different rewards. Or use 3 other companions and get access to the regular full group rewards. So having more companions can work for FPs, which are instanced. However, sometimes there are boss fights, in the open world, and there can exist mechanics like nightmare pilgrim to allow for certain mechanics... however it would be strange if not possible... to allow for more companions for a specific fight due to being near impossible without the extra combo of 1 player and 1 companion... therefore maybe for boss fights it can allow for more companions in the proximity and can be similar to a FP and register that and then reward accordingly.
