  1. Honestly, I think if they increased the returns by roughly 2.5x that would be about right. Two medpacs per craft with four on crit would go a long way towards making it viable to not be a Biochem and still occasionally use adrenals. That's just my opinion.
  2. I'm sorry, but you have a misunderstanding of basic economics. If you gather materials out in the world, they are not 'free.' There is an opportunity cost. If you *could have* sold them on the GTN for a certain amount, that is their value. Thus, it does not matter how he acquires those mats. The cost associated with making an item is based inherently on the opportunity cost of the requisite materials. The OP's concern is a legitimate one. The effective cost (and I'm sure it varies wildly from server to server) of consumables is very, very high.
  3. On my server, just the *green* mats for the Prototype Ultimate Medpac easily sell for about 10k. If I were to try to sell the blue medpacs for below 10k, I'd be destroying value. In order to make it worth my while, I'd have to consider the opportunity cost of not just running bioanalysis missions to sell mats. In the time it takes to craft the medpac, I could have pulled in another 4k of net worth this way. I'd have to sell them above 14k to even *begin* making them worth my while. I.e., no one on my server (no one with a brain) sells ultimate medpacs either green or blue, since no one will buy them for these prices. The only time I make them is for my guild for raids, since they are the best medpac in the game with the additional hot on the blue.
  4. No one can tell you that. It's all about opportunity cost. Look at how much the requisite materials are selling for on your server and do the math. It may be difficult to actually determine this since very often the GTN is devoid of these, or has only a few listed well above what anyone is actually buying them for.
  5. Yes. The resulting item is BoE, and I've sold several. The crafted one can not be reverse engineered for a pattern (similar to jerky).
  6. That's because they don't drop. The only way to obtain those recipes is by reverse engineering gear.
  7. The gear you're linking to is not in the game yet. Patch 1.2 introduced tier 2 gear, of which Blackhole/Campaign is 2.1 (similar to Tionese in first tier). The ones you've listed are 2.2 and 2.3 and will be coming in the next couple of major patches, presumably 1.3, and 1.4.
  8. I thought all tier 2 *unmoddable* purples were capable of being REd for the actual item. I would have assumed that extended to bracers. I bought a Black Hole implant off the comm vendor and it *did* have a tooltip that said 20% chance. It was successful and I've made several (no augment slots yet). I wouldn't RE it without confirmation if it isn't showing a tooltip.
  9. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=399000 "All Campaign gear can also be reverse engineered for a chance to learn the associated schematic. For armor, this means a chance to learn the custom (orange) appearance of item, for implants, earpieces, mods, etc. This means learning to craft the item itself. All of these may be crafted critical for an additional augment slot or, in case of a mods, additional resulting items." He specifies Campaign here, but all Black Hole can be REd as well except for the empty shell to get an orange. Sounds like the CSR is wrong. I can't imagine they'd change it for Rakata but not for Campaign/Black Hole. That post is only like a week and a half old.
  10. I hope that's not true for implants and Biochems too. I can go find a post from Georg where he had to alleviate some confusion he'd created about implants coming back with 2 on a crit. I was sure he said, 'nope, that was a mistake, you will still get augment slots.' I'll be pissed if I just tossed like 5 mil worth of the grade 8 purple mats making a bunch of Black Hole Implants that had no chance of critting...
  11. Yeah, I think they look awesome now. Better than before for sure. *shrug*
  12. You won't be able to make them unless you're loaded or part of a guild. =)
  13. Fine.. hang on... EDIT: Sorry, never had to link to a screenshot. Hope this works: I would like to stay anonymous, so black boxes are around a bunch of stuff. http://tinypic.com/r/2hn5hxf/5
  14. Just an FYI. Just bought one off of the commendations vendor and successfully reverse engineered it. It did have a tooltip telling me a 20% chance. Made a couple, but alas, no crits!
  15. Bioware has been repeatedly stated that delta_t(1.2, 1.3) << delta_t(1.1,1.2). 1.1 came out around January 11th or so, and 1.2 came out almost exactly 3 months later. If they're serious about that, then I would expect early to mid June.
  16. Also , at least in EC, practically every trash mob drops like 200 credits per person. My entire repair bill is only like 35k when completely destroyed.
  17. Honestly, it seemed kind of obvious to me... White lockboxes (from any source) unchanged... blue lockboxes (from any source) unchanged.. green lockboxes (from any source) diminished returns. That kind of behavior screams bug to me. Glad to hear I was right.
  18. That's what my GM was told at PAX East. 'Eventually.'
  19. It should be correct. It's been done successfully on PTS.
  20. Pick up some low level mods off the GTN, pop em in, and see if it works?
  21. I believe it's supposed to only be Campaign for oranges. Although, I think Black Hole Implants at least can be REd. Not 100% sure, but I thought they said that.
  22. Seriously? It's already low enough that there's already going to be almost no one with these schematics.
  23. I dunno... You can sell those for at least a million a piece.
  24. Armoring takes precedence. Already asked and answered =)
