  1. Analyzing the s-9 leaderboard, I noticed that more than 1000 players were banned.

It's no secret that the ban system is not perfect, and I am sure that most of the banned players do not even know what wintrade is..

They knew what they were doing.

The bans were issued because literally years of player demand during Seasons 1 to 8. The actions were necessary but too late for Satele Shan: The Other East Coast Server (only smaller). Wintrading (along with FOTM premades for unranked) killed what was left of Harbinger-lite's pvp.

  2. And if you visit the ESO forums, it is nothing but complaining. As it is here, as it is on the WoW forums, and as it is on the FFXIV forums.

    You probably notice a pattern.

ESO, WOW, FF14 are in-house titles.

SWTOR is a licensed brand, licensed under the Lucas-era no less. Licensing Star Wars was and probably still is costly. There is also that matter that Lucas-era Lucasfilm and Disney Lucasfilm have dramatically different ideas of what Star Wars is and what should be.

If the sun was not setting on this game the current gearing system would be gone and we would have 6.0 by now.

  3. This game doesn't need to learn anything from ESO or any other title as Expansion 5.* is working as intended where working as intended is defined as:

    - Shifting 98% of this title's team to the vaporware known as Anthem.

    - Using gear as subscription bait - of which gear is obtained via extremely slow grind using pre-existing content and obnoxiously rare gear drops via loot crates.

    - Deliberately downscaling the game (Server Merge 2017) while waiting till the very last moment to inform users of the changes so as extract as much subscriptions and micro-transactions from affected users (AIPAC, West Coast USA) as possible.

This game peaked with Expansion 4.* because even if you were not a fan of the Knights of the Fallen Empire's Eternal Throne chapters, one could still play the rest of the game while not having to worry about gearing or even being subscribed (i.e. weekly passes).

EA is riding out their license clock. After the contract is up the money used for licensing the Star Wars brand will be shifted to EA's own titles.

  4. I am a firm believer that Lucas put constraints on what Disney can and can't do with his Star Wars universe i.e. going into Yoda's backstory, no more newly created Jedi or Sith (hence Inquistors and Padwans in Rebels) and Luke never getting married or having children.

In 2005, during the various Star Wars Celebrations conventions and press for Revenge of the Sith, Lucas let it be known he was working on two TV series, one animation "The Clone Wars" and one Live-Action Series focusing on background type characters Bounty Hunters, Smugglers, Rebel and Imperial TIE pilots etc.

This Live-Action series is a continuation of Disney using Lucas-era leftovers (see also the upcoming unfinished-now being finished #CloneWarsSaved episodes) for new product. Which is why it is Bounty Hunter/Underworld/1313 influence heavy. Sooner or later, and it appears to be sooner, Disney is going to run out of Lucas leftovers.

Last month Bob Iger gave an interview with TheHollywoodReporter.com indicating that Star Wars releases will be slowed down. However it's probably too late given there has already been 4 movies and 3 animated series (Rebels, Forces of Disney, Lego "Adventures of the Freemaker" or some such). That is not even counting what is in the pipeline for 2019:

    - IX (lol)

    - Resistance (lol)

    - Clone Wars final episodes

    - "The Mandalorian".

  5. Dave Filoni minus Lucas is horrible (See Rebels and Resistance.) Favereau on the other hand is a plus given his involvement with The Clone Wars and Marvel, which unlike Star Wars, was not damaged by Disney. (Although recently Marvel is experiencing the same social political divide among "fans").

FYI, Lucas was developing a Star Wars Underworld style Live Acton Series. The Disney cancelled video game "Star Wars 1313" was loosely tied to it.

It speaks volumes Disney and Filoni raiding unused material from Clone Wars and Lucas-era Live Action Series development instead of trying to create their own. Speaking of Lucas-era, much as we like to bash EAware over it's crate gearing and server merging decisions it is still light years above anything Disney has put out so far in terms of story and design.

    Yes I am pro-Lucas and anti-Disney come @ me.

  6. ... already suffered through 5.0 - 5.9 and the debacle of rng crates and severe grind. I quit for a year after 5.0 came out because of how terrible it was. I came back after you made some adjustments but it is still a bad system.

The new augments are terrible enough. Releasing difficult to obtain gear levels that require difficult to gain materials is not content. I'm not going to try and spend 30 hours a week times how many alts to get them to have best gear to compete in pvp.

    ...

Did the fact you had to merge servers not register? Does the fact that the merged servers now have less population than harbinger did by itself a little over year ago not give you a hint about player dissatisfaction?

    ...

Pvp players had 208 gear with expertise whereas pve players would try and get 216 or even 220 gear, for example in the 4.0 era.

... I warned you in closed 5.0 beta in 2016 and you ignored me.

The mass exodus over q1 2017 proved me correct.

Reformatted and edited for emphasis - I agree with all of this and would add the intentionally overly complex gearing system added shortly thereafter:

The Unassembled Component system which features a not-currency "unassembled components" which alongside earning lottery crates, involves the player to run back and forth between rooms to upgrade gear.

I posted suggestions on how to streamline the current system here and here. However here we are two years later still raging against a anti-player system which by now should be clear to all is "working as intended".

  7. I don't think your reasons against a server merge are in the same league as the reasons for it.

I don't think your reasons for a server merge are in the same league as the reasons against it.

Namely the sole few proponents of a one single North American server are Satele Shan ranked PVP players who have no one to play with after Bioware took action against the widespread wintrading and external exploits still taking place FIVE YEARS INTO game's official lifespan.

Given Bioware's underhanded nature of last year's server merge - which saw the company wait to till the very last moment to notify players of their plans to merge their West Coast servers (which also served AIPAC) into a singular East Coast server along with lumping Shadowlands and Jedi Covenent onto RP-dominant Ebon Hawk... one could see how Star Forge players and more than a few Satele Shan players would be apprehensive against any more merges.

  8. Re-posting again this info from last year's server merge which saw all West Coast Servers merged into ONE EAST COAST SERVER "Satele Shan"

Since all of NA is in one datacenter, shouldn’t we just have one server?

Moving all of NA together would create a very heavily populated server.

    This would introduce several challenges:

    1) Players would likely experience queues accessing the server and

    2) It would increase the chances for server instability and downtime.

There are also a variety of other issues, but a key concern was combining all of North America would result in substantially more character name collisions.

Here is all of the FAQ portion from Eric's post:

As many of you know, on Tuesday Keith explained that in preparation for United Forces we moved all current west coast servers into our Virginia data center. Here’s some of the key questions we have received about the North American datacenter change:

Why not communicate this ahead of time?

We made the decision to not communicate this information ahead of time because we wanted you to have the ability to immediately login and determine the impact to your gameplay experience. This meant we could quickly start gathering feedback on what you were seeing in-game (more on this in the next question).

However, we have seen posts from players who made specific decisions based on location (such as character transfers) and we will be in touch with them to discuss. To ensure there is no confusion about this update in-game, we adjusted the server selection screen to reflect that all NA servers are on the east coast.

My ping has gone up since the change and it is affecting my gameplay, what options do I have?

Please continue to report it! As Keith mentioned in his forum post this is something we are actively tracking and working with our network partners to address where possible. We will be working through this especially over the next two weeks as we ramp up to United Forces.

Could there be one data center in the Central US so that pings are more even for each coast?

Creating an entirely new datacenter is a daunting task, even above and beyond the substantial changes we have already made this year. This just isn’t something that was viable in the scope of the changes we made for United Forces.

  9. The only reason I’ve replied is to debunk the incorrect information

If you are from PVP-dominant sever Satele Shan know this: The only reason why RP-dominant server Star Forge has a larger population is because of the RP element. Excluding the RP population would see a much lower population server only active during East Coast America's primetime hours.

In retrospect merging all the PVE/PVP servers onto Satele Shan and all the RP-PVP/RP servers onto Star Forge would have been optimal. However that would would meant Bioware informing everyone months in advance that there was to be no more West Coast servers.

  10. I'll repost this quote from EricMusco from the previous server merge:

... EricMusco post on ONE SERVER:

This topic is mainly Satele Shan players, who roll mainly OP classes augmented with the latest expensive augments, advocating for merging PVP-dominant Satele Shan with RP-dominant Star Forge.

As someone who has mutiple characters on each server - I am opposed to merging PVP-dominant Satele Shan and RP-dominant Star Forge.

  11. We’ll they finally made the game pay to win. New crafted gear will be extremely expensive on the GTN.

How are you going to raise money.....grind months of heroics or pay for some rare gear on the CM to raise the funds.

I’m just coming back to the game after a few years off. I don’t have 100m credits. Guess I am buying packs.

<----- still sees no point whatsoever in grinding out a new gear set.

I haven't actively geared up in this game since about the 2nd month of release when you did need some decent gear to clear FPs and OPs. Ever since then, especially once bolster went into place, it's been very easy to ignore gearing.

Yes, I throw on the new gear I get from CXP, but I only augment on my favorite toons and even then it's with the basic crafted ones, not the 2 recent expensive tiers.

I agree with the pay2win aspect and the new gear tier disincentive. Even if you disagree with the term pay2win used in this instance you cannot deny that most will use credits earned from cartel store products auctioned to purchase the new gear tier.

Expansion 5.0's gearing system along with the recent server merge is the main reason for the current state of the game.

  13. The last server merge was a colossal disaster, where all American servers were merged unto two east coast servers, one dominated by PVP (Satele Shan) and the other RP (Star Forge). Furthermore either Eric or Keith have previously stated that merging into one server would cause logistical problems.

This game was better off pre-2017 merge. The APAC-West Coast exodus was disastrous for Satale Shan.

  14. All I am proposing is streamlining the arguably least popular stronghold by removing the locked "Trader's Quarters" middle while providing an incentive to play the Umbara flashpoint on multiple characters by making the ARD (Alliance Recon Data) currency legacy-wide.

    NOW:

60 ARD to purchase "invitation" to access locked room where Stronghold can be purchased for 5k.

    PROPOSED:

60 ARD purchases the Stronghold directly via publicly accessible terminal like the other Strongholds are now.

  15. 1. Umbara Stronghold Terminal Should be on the Fleet and Alliance Staging Room.

    2. Alliance Recon Data alone should purchase the stronghold not Invitation token.

For these two points I see a lot of confusion or perhaps I wasn't clear enough:

60 Alliance Recon Datas purchase the stronghold outright instead of access to secret room to purchase for 5k.

Terminal outside of secret room allows others to visit publically listed stronghold.
