  1. Same issue here. I could have started my DL yesterday. I just stopped it because the 45 kB/s download speed wasn't going to let me play any time soon anyway, so I just said screw it, I'll wait for tomorrow. Yeah, now you really ****ed up BW. Lucky for you it's "only a few people".
  2. Great vid! You are a good sport throughout the whole thing, too.
  3. I'm aware of this. Hence, I only used the peak rates as a starting point, and reducing from there. If I had used the peak rates the number would be much, much higher than 10,000. Nothing you have said is convincing me to think that my original 10,000 people estimate is invalid.
  4. If BW PR say "less than 15 minutes", they mean probably around 14.5 minutes. Otherwise they would have given a much smaller number, guaranteed. Besides, it's pretty obvious someone screwed up the AM/PM time, and I logged on at 10:12 my time (I sent a 1 word email right after DL started, so I know the time is accurate), and I still got screwed. This would put it at least at 12 minutes minimum. Also, peak server queues mean people are trying to log in faster than they actually can. This would actually make 400 in 20 minutes a lower limit, and the actual attempted log-ins would be even higher. Furthermore, I already cut the rate in half for the EU, despite it being near their peak hours, which I think is not unreasonable. Even if you want me to cut it by another factor 2 (which is probably the most I would consider reasonable) you're still at about 5000 people screwed, much more than a couple hundreds.
  5. I'm not saying it's a large fraction, just trying to give people an idea of the number of people affected. I think 10,000 is a reasonable estimate, BW (and you) are obviously free to form an oppinion on how important it is to appease those affected.
  6. Another of the "few" people affected here. Also, let's do some math. There are 91 EU servers and 123 US servers, if I counted correctly. When there is a server queue on my US server, it takes about 20 minutes to get through a queue of about 400, for a log-in rate of about 400/20 = 20 log-ins / minute. This glitch happened at 10 am PST for me, which is right in prime EU playing time. I'm going to be generous and say they were going at half the peak rate, so 10 log-ins / minute / server, or 10 * 91 servers * 15 minutes = 13650 log-ins. For the US, since it's very much off-peak, we can probably cut that rate by another factor 4. This gives 2.5 * 123 servers * 15 ~ 4600 log-ins. Adding these together gives approximately 18,200 log-ins during the 15 minute window. If a little under half of the people stopped the DL, that still leaves about 10,000 people screwed, me being one of them.
  7. I really like the BH ship. The external aesthetics are my favorite of all the ships; I really like the utilitarian look/feel. Internally I would only add maybe an extra floor for some more living space or sleeping quarters to make it seem more realistic that a homicidal maniac Houk, 4 regular sized humanoids and the Blizz could all live inside the ship.
  8. I'm not sure I understand your issue. You should still have a class quest in your log, so if you just continue on you'll find there's a lot left to do. You've completed chapter 1 of your story, but chapters 2 and 3 are there for you.
  9. I actually like all of the BH companions to varying degrees. I've played JC and BH to 50, and I actually like Gault, Mako and Blizz better than any companion the JC gets. My JC would throw Nadia, Iresso and Zenith of his ship if he could, whereas my BH would only remotely consider doing that to Torian. Gault and Skadge are hilarious, Mako is a great romance story imo, and there is no companion more awesome than Blizz. Not a single one. Then you have Torian, a whine emo teen trapped in a whiny emo teen's body. He's not so bad, but definitely the worst of the bunch.

  11. You do realize that 4% of something can still give you non-integer numbers, right?
  12. I'm glad you covered the entire 105% of the SWTOR population with your detailed and thoroughly referenced analysis. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
  13. It looks more like the gimp from Pulp Fiction.
