  1. So you're in the process of uploading them for us? D:
  2. Already tried system restore, previous versions, etc. to no avail. I don't have multiple computers with the game installed, and when I tried previous version it only gave me one option, which was for yesterday around the time the 12GB download started, i.e. no use. If anything, I will take from this the importance of backing up game files for SWTOR.
  3. The response is appreciated. But bear in mind that not everyone purchased DVD copies of the game, and most don't have exceptionally fast internet services. I understand there is nothing you nor I can do to resolve the issue, aside from waiting for the download to finish. At the moment I am going to be missing out on at least 36 hours of access to the game due to this patching issue - and I am one of the luckier ones who doesn't have a limit on their monthly bandwidth. I missed out on 2 raid nights, one will be tonight where my guild will do Explosive Conflict without me, which is quite frustrating. People are calling for compensation - I don't really know what can be done. I feel that 2 days of added game time would be expected, but at the end of the day that's just £0.50 in my currency - really nothing worth arguing about. I'm sure something can be thought up to restore the faith in the team behind patches, etc. and the faith in SWtoR as a whole. By the way, on a fairly unrelated note, I think you do a great job keeping vocal within the community to explain and inform us of things through reddit, twitter and these forums. Keep it up (I know you will because it's your job but I'll say it anyway).
  4. I actually posted a partially sarcastic comment basically saying that I shouldn't trust Bioware's advice and I don't believe that all will be fixed tomorrow if I just stop the 12GB download. People complained that I was raging unnecessarily... now look... the advice was indeed rubbish.
  5. Poorly designed patching process.
  6. Senior Community Manager and his team are probably mostly sleeping now.
  7. That's not true. It patched to 1.2 early because it detected 1.2 was released through a mistake on Bioware's end. This was then fixed and the launcher detected it was 1.1.5, did a quick check for 1.1.5 files and found I had none of them installed (I had 1.2 files which are not the same due to the way patch installation occurs - it merges 1.2 data with existing asset files to make a new version). It then started to install 1.1.5 (the live version at the time). If I left the PC to download the client again, it would patch to 1.1.5 and be done. It wouldn't redownload the client more than once.
  8. Slightly annoyed that I was planning on doing that last night and leaving the PC to download it while I slept. Instead Bioware told me not to because it would "fix" it. Apparently not.
  9. Same for me. I downloaded the game originally so have no disks. When it screwed up last night and started the 12GB download, my only option was to leave the PC on overnight and still not be finished in time for 1.2 server uptime (my internet isn't great atm). Then we were told clearly in a sticky that we could avoid the issue by closing the launcher mid-11GB download, which I did. Now it isn't working as we were told.
  10. I just loaded the launcher, as a post on reddit confirmed that 1.2 was available for download (i.e. login/patch servers are online). Last night I was on 11.1GB remaining of the original ~11.8GB client redownload, and as instructed in the sticky, part of which is quoted above, I stopped the download and closed the client. Now that 1.2 is downloadable, the launcher is continuing to download the remaining 11.1GB. The reason I chose to not redownload the client is that I would be downloading for ~30 hours at my internet's download speed. Now it looks like I cannot play 1.2 for another 30 hours from now? Note: I definitely did NOT reach an installing phase for the ~12GB client redownload.
  11. The problem is that patches are dealt with horribly in this game. They are merged with the old assets so if a patch goes wrong there is absolutely no way to return to the previous patch without starting from scratch.
  12. Nothing new was installed so I don't know why people would expect windows to create a system restore point. The only way to backup is to manually backup the game's asset files in preparation for mistakes by Bioware employees.
  13. "We apologize for the confusion, but only a very small number of players were affected by this unintentional change." I disagree. Look at how fast the replies are stacking up on the top thread in General Discussion. A lot of people tried to log on during PEAK TIME and got screwed over by an early deployment of 1.2 patch files. It happened 12 hours before it was supposed to - most likely due to employee error. Someone Bioware is paying, and we are paying through subscription fees, confused the blatently obvious concept of AM and PM, making 1.2 files become downloadable at 12:01PM instead of 12:01AM. Once the assets were installed there was no turning back and now we cannot play tonight or until 1.2 is actually live. (Redownloading the client is simply not a reasonable suggestion).
