  1. We could help with more specific advice if we knew your class. But.. definitely, keep your own gear and at least your favorite companion's gear upgraded. Also, you want to make sure that you're using your abilities to your fullest - look into keybinding your abilities to convenient spots on your keyboard, and *read* them. Things that disable monsters, that interrupt or freeze them temporarily, that lower the damage you take, that reposition monsters, get you out of range of them.. this is all stuff you should know about your character; I guarantee you have tools that'll help. The game is.. not so much killing monsters quickly as making sure that they do as little damage as possible to you; sometimes that's killing them quickly, and sometimes that's freezing a boss monster while you take out his companions, etc. I just say.. experiment with ALL your abilities .
  2. Yeah, the forums are .. a wretched hive of scum and villany; that's true of almost any MMO. Not trustworthy - really, there's a lot of people out there playing the game and having fun; the only way to see is to play for yourself. As for servers.. seriously, I always lean towards picking a heavier-populated server than a light one. More people, better grouping, better economy, can shift goods and make money and find cool stuff for sale more often.
  3. Dude, your post history is eleven pages worth of unmitigated whine.
  4. See, I hafta agree with this guy. Sareth, you haven't started a single positive thread since before the game's release - you were even one of the guys complaining about how unfair the early access thing was. Ironically, you said you weren't buying the game at launch or subbing, then .. and yet, a few days later, you apparently had '29 days left' on your sub. There's constructive criticism aimed at improving the game.. I'm all for that. Then there's frankly destructive doom-n-glooming. Show us a screenshot before and after of your guild membership.. that you can prove isn't photoshopped, or isn't just 'online' numbers taken just after a server maintenance, please.

    help

I'm going to go out on a limb here and take a stab at a guess.. try going to a vendor, and hitting that 'repair all' button down at the bottom .
  6. Ya, I'm with these guys. Modern VGA cables are actually pretty darned good. But if you've got HDMI, go HDMI.
  7. Unless you define the aesthetic you want a little more specifically than using an adjective that can mean millions of different things to different people, you'll never get your point across, OP. Conan the barbarian certainly is heroic. So is freaking firefighter's gear. Luke's RotJ dark outfit is bleeding awesome - and yet starkly simple. So.. we're not sure what you mean by heroic. But please, keep in mind that this is high sci-fi/sci-fantasy, not fantasy proper. Glowing effects and torrents of magic light simply aren't going to realistically happen here and they definitely shouldn't.
  8. This really isn't appropriate for this forum. It's a thinly veiled rant, please.
  9. Is there any chance of making all the basic white-quality armor sets into blank-slotted orange gear? With the custome gear in game, I seriously see no point at all in merely white gear - some of it looks great, and I wish it were viable for combat!
  10. Yea, the funny thing is that currency conversion rates often have nothing to do with the prices of things on the ground, numerically. Know what the price of a beer is in the US? 5-6 bucks. In the UK? 3-4 quid. A good-sized entree at a sit-down restaurant? 10-12 bucks, say, in the US. In the UK, 10-12 quid. A good block of parmesian reggiano in the US? Thirty billion dollars. In the UK? 10 quid. I can go and get that beer in the UK for 3-4 quid, while across the channel, that beer will cost me 3-4 euro. Despite the currencies being significantly different, exchange-rate-wise. A book in Canada still has the 20-30% higher price than in the US that it did in the 80s, when our currency was roughly that much lower in value than the US dollar - so what used to seem justified now feels like flimsily excused rip-off. So you see, billy, the question of cost is a good deal more complicated than merely whinging about the number on the price tag on any box being either slightly or significantly different.
  11. Does it have a choice of rewards? Y'hafta pick one?
  12. I am so bloody glad I do not live in the dark, confusing, malignant world you live in. I realize SWTOR has faults. I am enjoying playing the game. I see Bioware releasing significant patch after significant patch. That is the summation of all the tin-hattery I have to engage in. Even if I were disliking the game.. you know what I'd do? Shrug. Unsubscribe. I wouldn't create conspiracy fantasies about the decline of the world into anarchy and bad morals, like every old dude has done since the beginning of history - seriously, there are ancient egyptian tablets that are letters by people complaining bitterly about the younger generation. Mine is a much nicer world, dude.
  13. Heyo. It does decrease significantly if you wait a week. They're going to be introducing a system similar to wow's dual spec, but for now, you've got to think of your talent choices as intended to be fairly permanent.. .
  14. My prediction? You took that screenshot a little while after an early downtime finish.
  15. You actually get to cart them to Titan. There, you can toss frozen Ewoks into lakes of liquid methane, and watch them shatter.
  16. For heaven's bleeding sake, will you people stop trying to sabotage everything about this game? Even major bug fix patches weekly and content patches monthly aren't enough to stop you crowd from predicting major death and famine in the MMO market, while predicting GW2 is the redeemer soon to come.
  17. I'm just going to quote this guy before reporting this thread as the cesspit of humanity.
  18. Most people I know don't use combinations like ctrl+alt+shift+e.. mainly cuz that's like carpal tunnel in a nutshell, the idea of using combinations like that on a regular basis, oy. In your preferences menu - the tab at the bottom for keybinds, you can set up which keys control which ability bar slots. To keep it simple, i'll just give an example of what keybinds I use. I use, of course, the 1 to = keys that are default bound to the first bar on the bottom. The second bar on the bottom, I set up to be shift+1 to shift+= . Usually keep buffs, quick travel, long-cooldown survival stuff on the right - stuff i won't be hitting that often. I also create keybinds for the row on the right - and that tends to be stuff close to my left hand, like Q, E, V, R, F, Z, G, etc. On each character, I try to keep the abilities basically thematic - like, G might be a crowd control ability: force lift on the consular, cryo grenade on the trooper. T will be taunt on the trooper, mind trick on the consular - both threat related. This is just so switching between characters is easier.
  19. Can you elaborate for us? What class are you? What's your gear like - ie, you keeping it up to date? Are you using any control abilities, interrupts, in your basic combat strategy? Is your companion's gear up to date? Have you tried switching companions - perhaps to a tank companion, or a healer companion?
  20. You, sir, have the kind of sense of porportion that most of the users on this forum would have to get into a near-fatal car accident to develop.
  21. If you've only played for half an hour - well, first off, welcome to TOR Uh.. know that once you hit level 10 and get your class quest to head on to your capital planet, you'll find a quest giver who wants you to pick an 'advanced class'. Consulars, for instance, can split off into shadows (melee dps, or tank) or sages (ranged dps, or heals). Other classes .. well, the guy above me already outlined it. The quest giver'll give you more info. Just know that whichever advanced class you pick, it's a permanent choice.
  22. So try republic. Completely fresh questing experience.
  23. Never had the same problem as the OP, really. I mean, people can forget - but generally, if they see me regenning, I figure they figure that it's faster for them to do so too. It's kinda my instinct right now to question the tone the OP is setting. People generally go with a politely phrased request - and if not, there's something else going on. Either check your own attitude, or leave those jerkwads behind.
  24. I'd love to pop in here and say that me and my partner are having an absolute -blast- as double-trooper - one commando, one vanguard. The combination, with the range and aoe powers, feels very strong.
