  1. I think giving exact dates is the wrong way to go. Giving us an idea what they are going to do about it is much more important than when.
  2. Yeah, I know. I stuck by WoW for most of its seven years. But I also think that the developers need to show interest in talking to their audience. At the moment, it is only us talking and we are left with out doubts. But I repeat: It's not one big issue making me feel disenchanted, it is the accumulation of little and bigger ones. Companions, appearance customization and the UI are my main concerns right now, all of which make me actually want to play the game less with each day where I have to suffer through the issues with those topics.
  3. He has a point, though. This is not the only thread about Biochem being out of line with other professions. Now, even if we assume that you and others don't want the profession nerfed, but rather the other ones buffed ( which I think is the way to go, too ), too many threads about "OMG, Biochem!" will probably lead to an unwarranted nerf.
  4. I actually am level 50 and have done all planets. I am not quitting, although the huge number of issues is getting to me.
  5. The main problem with tanking is the incredibly poor UI of the game. You have little choice but to constantly stare at your own and the opponents health bars, because for many opponents any ability procs or buffs are only reflected in eensy-teensy icons above said health bar, as are any cast bars when the opponent activates an ability. Missing just one ability on that bar can actually lead to group wipes, as with the second big boss in The Battle for Ilum. Hence, your spatial awareness suffers and you have problems making out what is going on with the fight. Also, keeping threat is vastly more difficult than in WoW, even compared with before the huge threat buff from a few months ago. Conclusion: Stay away from tanking until they have made the UI suck less. I am looking to do that with my main ( Jedi Shadow ), although I already dread having to replace all my mods, which will set my itemization back considerably.
  6. Oh, and to give voice to a frustration which has built up during the last weeks: Do you all remember that each class would have hundreds of different item sets in the game? Turns out that this was a lie.
  7. Eh, Alistair seems like a fine guy. Humor, valiant, self-deprecating. Not nearly as whiny as Kaidan or Carth.
  8. If we go by the Knights of the Old Republic comics by John Jackson Miller ( featuring the incomparable Zayne Carrick ), Revan got his mask off the dead body of a random Mandalorian, after coming too late to prevent the massacre of Cathar. That random Mandalorian apparently was someone who had been executed by the other Mandalorians because he refused to participate in the massacre and Revan took up the mask in his honor.
  9. I have the same issue constantly, although I don't get migraines from it. The game taxes my graphic card so hard, however, that its ventilation made me have a constant high pitched buzzing sound in my ears for the past weeks. :-/
  10. To the OP: I actually feel myself nearing to the point where I am about to quit, too. And I have been a huge fan-boy of the game since before it was even confirmed, due to my long-term fandom of Star Wars ( since 1983 ) and my love of BioWare games. It simply is a lot of things which add up, big ones and little ones. The world feels segregated even on the later planets, you hardly ever see an imperial. There is just too much empty travel time, which is just running, running, running ( or biking, biking, biking at the later levels ). Higher level mounts need to give a faster movement upgrade than just another 10%. Many companions are a bore. Of my Jedi Shadow, I like two out of five companions ( Tharan and Nadia ), the rest I want to chuck out of an airlock or at least never talk to again. The whole affection system doesn't scale well at all, I am level 50 and I am slooowly grinding up my companions affection via very expensive level 4+5 gifts... only to get quests which take me back to old leveling zones like Alderaan, which tells me that the developers expected us to unlock those quests much sooner. And at first glance most Republic companions ( outside of the Jedi Knight ) seem much less interesting than the Empire ones ( outside of the Sith Inquisitor ). As a devoted Republic fan, this makes me sad. Spell effects also seem much more impressive on the Empire side, although this is just personal opinion. And you have to take certain companions with you to play effectively. For most classes that is the healer or tank companion. I already mentioned how much I dislike most of my companions, but since Nadia is my characters waifu, I want her to be with him. It does work, but it means that I have hot regen after every fight which involves only one silver enemy ( and two silvers make the fight really hard ), while gold enemies make me have to always stare at the opponents health bar, to catch any cast he does and interrupt it. Every companion should have stances and abilities for all three roles, so that we can take the people with us we actually like, instead of the most effective ones. Then there are the large number of missing comfort functions. A better GTN, people on your friend list auto-filling the recipient box in your mail, being able to sit anywhere outside of your ship. Faster access to important places. It feels just completely like a arbitrary gametime tax to have to run from your hangar to the shuttle bay to the space port to whatever your real destination is.... and do it backwards when you have done whatever you needed to do, only to have to do it again for the next destination where you go to. This is just dead game time, where nothing of interest happens. The crafting system seems only useful for leveling. The whole appearance customization via modding falls apart at the endgame, when epic item sets are strictly better than whatever you could come up with, due to set bonuses. And there are lots of other issues. The responsiveness of the game is not ideal. There are graphical bugs. The game is extremely taxing on my graphic card, much more so than other games with better graphics, to the point of where its ventilator goes into overdrive and I got a constant buzzing in my ears for the last weeks. I know, this is a lot of moaning and individually these items wouldn't make me feel so down that I seriously consider cancelling. But they have been adding up over the last weeks and, well, I hope at least a good number of them will be taken care of. I think the lack of a lot of expected comfort features may be one of the biggest issues for me... they make me feel unwelcome in the game. Sorry for rambling on, but I felt that I needed to get this off my chest.
  11. You're welcome. It'd be nice if David could answer the questions. I fear my list of things I dislike about the game grows longer each day. The half-hearted mod system is only one of them.
  12. We either need an appearance tab or BioWare needs to fix the orange item/mod system. - Make Underworld Trading drop more recipes - Make orange items able to be critically crafted - Make epic operation mods provide set bonuses, like non-orange gear does. Otherwise the whole system falls apart at the endgame.
  13. With the GTN being this horrible mess, farming dailies is the way to make some decent money. Every Ilum daily brings 10k credits as a reward and you get enough grey trash from doing them to net you another decent batch of money. Since Ilum dailys also award tokens for epic gear and can be done in a very decent time-frame, they are your best bet to have some daily income. Doing some of the mid-level space missions also will give a few thousand credits. I have yet to be able to complete the top three ones ( all in the same space sector as Ilum ), but the others are a breeze if you got the blue upgrades which are available as soon as level 40-43. Everything else is a huge time-sink, I fear. As I said above, the GTN is a horrible mess, so playing the auction house is way more onerous to make a few credits. Also, the economy is still so unbalanced without a decent max-level population that things are still very much in flux.
  14. David, in case you are still reading, could you expound a bit on how the mod system is supposed to interact with endgame items? In particular, the apparent impossibility of critically crafted orange items ( meaning that they cannot get an augment slot ) and the how orange items are supposed to compete with item sets which have a set bonus. There are a large number of people who fear that the whole system falls apart due to those issues and we are all forced to have the same look at endgame. As someone who loathes the huge banana shoulders on the Jedi Consular endgame items ( not to mention that the whole set looks incredibly feminine, something which I don't want for my male character ), this does concern me greatly.
  15. I dropped slicing on my main and took it up on my first serious alt. Why? Because I am mostly through with questing, i.e. finding nodes on my main. I'll still make a good profit on my alt. Since I have five companions running missions, I got Underworld Trading up to 375 in one day and by today I am at 400.
  16. By the way, I am at Underworld Trading 391 ( in a few hours 400 ) and so far, I got about ten recipes for orange items, half of which were for the other faction. So I fear the hope that we'd get sufficient customization via the route of getting the recipes out of UT is also not working out well so far.
  17. TORhead has tons of old data, just as db.darthhater .
  18. So far it seems that orange gear can definitely not have an augment slot due to being critically crafted. That alone will probably make the whole mod-appearance system worthless for endgame. But, hey, at least I then get to wear huge banana shoulders and a giant ridiculous hat... on my sneaky Jedi Shadow. What the hell, BioWare?
  19. It's a bit late here, so I won't write down my own stuff, but I'll mark this thread for suscription.
  20. There are some Trooper armors which can be used by Jedi. Although those are of course not robes.
  21. It worked very well for the three three years I was on this forum and it needs to be re-instated ASAP, as its removal also makes you unable to track your own posts... which leads to threads dying fastly and people posting tons of same-topic threads. Which clutters up this forum even more.
  22. I have an even better idea. Make a server where, if your character dies, Stephen Reid comes to your house and beats you up. That would make all those super-hardcore players really, happy, right?
