  1. Hey guys, I am reasonably new to the republic side (I have one level 50 smuggler versus 3 50 imperial toons) and I just started playing a Jedi Knight. From browsing the GTN (and just considering my experience playing the game generally), a lot of the JK armor seems to be of the heavily armored, big shoulders, hooded variety, and I'm not really a fan. I've found some decent non-robed looks for my Sith assassin, but then the aesthetic for Sith is a bit different. Is there anything resembling the "classic" Jedi aesthetic? Thinking along the lines of what we might see Obi-Wan wearing, a la this picture: http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/4200000/Obi-Wan-Kenobi-obi-wan-kenobi-4286109-1024-768.jpg Ideally this would be adaptable as well, but if need be, I could roll a consular. What I really want to make is just a classic looking, single saber Jedi. Does anyone know of a decent piece to strive for? Do they exist? Thank you!
  2. That was precisely what I was looking for. Thanks!
  3. My gut says neither. I suppose I would say the Pavilion, but honestly I don't know how that's gonna perform. You meet the minimum requirements, but this game is a CPU hog. I'm not familiar with your GPU, but I have a core 2 duo (5+ years old, again pretty much the minimum requirement) with 8gigs of RAM and a GTX 560 (which I bought for this game, heh) and the game doesn't really run that well - most settings on low, it still chugs a lot. Good luck though.
  4. Are you sure about that? This occurred to me as well. I haven't bought anything on my republic toons yet, but I did log into them to check, and the gear was identical to what it was Sith side. I was actually very excited for this, because I wanted to give some decent looking Mando gear to Akaavi.
  5. I have a related question - would someone happen to know the rate at which subscribed accounts will accrue cartel coins going forward? I feel like I saw this information on the site a few days ago before the patch hit, and now that everything has been shuffled around, I can't find it again. Thanks!
  6. How long have you been subscribed? I've had an active sub since early start with the DDE, and I had 2550 coins waiting for me. I think if you're just signing up now, that number will be significantly smaller... or zero. I have my own question related to this though - does anyone know how fast the cartel coins accrue for a subscribed player?
  7. True - for now. They stated in the dev log that in a future (hopefully soon) patch that tier gear will be fully moddable. The set bonuses will be tied to the armoring mod, which can be freely slotted into orange gear. The only limitation will be that the destination orange gear needs to be the same armor slot. So if you take the armoring (and set bonus) from a tier chest, that can only be slotted into another orange chestpiece.
  8. Definitely something that should go in sooner rather than later. The most incredible thing is that *anyone* actually has an issue with something like this - which isn't a hardcore/casual/gameplay thing - being added at all. There's no argument against it. Resource allocation? As someone said, it's just sticking an NPC in there to open up half-assed version of the last page of the character creator.
  9. She's a shadow with cutscene powers.
  10. Do you have a shield or a focus equipped? If you aren't packing a shield it won't do anything.
  11. I have to say, at around 40, I hit a kickass aesthetic that I will happily keep forever. Do you still have your Saber Marshal robe from the Revanite questline? I'm not quite 50 yet, but for a while, I've been rocking that with the Supreme Inquisitor pants and boots, along with whichever moddable helmet looks like a neck covering (it has a voice modulator too - I just forget the name of the piece) and it looks incredible. At least in a patch or two when they make the tier gear de-moddable, you'll be able to wear what you want.
  12. Personally, I'd have to say so. I might be biased (I've played each spec at some point, but primarily leveled full darkness). Once I hit 40, I tried each spec again so see how the top-tier talents felt, and I came right back to Darkness, largely because I liked Wither so much. It is monstrous.
  13. That's an excellent point, and I'm astonished that it didn't occur to be, because derp. I suppose I would say that in this case, the system should consider the armor mods and all. If you want the piece for the look, you talk that out or come back with a group you trust. No system is going to be perfect. But the current system sucks.
  14. That's covered under "smart need." It would ensure, for example, that an Agent would not be able to roll Player Character Need on a Sorcerer's gear (or anything at all apart from medium armor with cunning on it...or sniper rifles/blaster rifles, depending on AC). The only options available to them would be Companion Need and Greed/Disassemble/Pass. Obviously, if they have a companion that uses the same gear, with the same primary stat, then that's a loophole. I think it's a small enough loophole that the system would still work well, though.
  15. It's coming. I believe the bonus will be tied to the armor mod (and said armor mod will be restricted to that armor type, ie, a tier helm armor mod will have to be slotted in another helm, etc.).
  16. TLDR - We need a new "smart" rolling system to ensure that both player characters *and* companions get a fair shake and flashpoint upgrades. Read post for suggestion. Companion need is one of the most contentious topics on the forum, and it's gonna stay that way for the foreseeable future. It's evenly divided into two camps - one that thinks the player character is more important than companion characters, and one that thinks companion characters, as extensions of your player character, are equally important. The fact is, they are both right. Companion characters are an important aspect of your player character, and they should have preference on upgrades rather than be on equal terms with a "greed roll" (that's in a perfect world, of course). However, most of time in flashpoint and PVP content, they aren't available to use. Taking that into consideration, I would say that player characters certainly do take preference over companions. The problem is that with the current, barebones need before greed system, no one wins, and there is no legitimate, system supported avenue for people to roll on companion flashpoint upgrades versus actual player character upgrades. So we have stupid ninja threads littering the front page. How hard would it really be to implement a smart need/greed system with the following preference? 1. PC need (would be a "smart" system, and those who cannot benefit from a certain item would be barred from rolling - since the classes each have clearly defined primary stat and armor/weapon type, this shouldn't be difficult to add). Takes preference over companion need. 2. Companion need - exactly what it says. Anyone can roll for their companion. Defers to PC need, takes preference over greed. 3. Greed/Disassemble - No change, obviously. 4. Pass - again, no change. Pass. Derp. Anyone agree?
  17. It it lorebreaking that my smuggler can't equip a lightsaber? Han Solo clearly could. I think you should read then re-read Clova's posts, because they are great.
  18. A clear articulation of what I was trying to say a little while ago. Good post!
  19. And that's all we need. It's possible. And it's fine. You don't like it - that's the gist of the thread. And that's unfortunate. There's nothing wrong with it, and certainly nothing lore-breaking.
  20. Even then, as I understand it, this will not work. Choosing a Legacy name locks it to that server - deleting the character that achieved it will not remove the legacy or free up the name.
  21. Well, I think the only answer here is "now it does."
  22. Wow. That's *one* time period. And in that time period, we only even see four lightsabers. C'mon man.
  23. And again, synth crystals can be whatever color you want them to be. The saber that Luke built between Empire and RoTJ used a green synthetic crystal. The don't *have* to be red, just as they don't *have* to be infused with dark energy.
  24. Well, I'd also like to point out that there's a precedent for this: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rainbow_gem So that wouldn't be lore-breaking either. I think if you're seriously concerned about this, then you're probably just gonna have to deal with it. I'm long on record as supporting a multitude of colors for Sith and Jedi alike. The more the better.
