  1. I read this a lot. You shouldn't need to 'establish rules' before every bit of content. It's fairly common that you only 'need' on a roll if an item is an upgrade for your character present. If it's for an alt, or a companion, or to sell, or for a friend etc. you 'greed'. The group should not need to 'establish' this. The person who wishes to do otherwise has the burden of 'establishing' their desire to operate outside of the norm. There are plenty of 'grey areas' whether you're talking about crafting components or schematics, on and on. Rolling 'need' on an item for an alt/companion is not one of those grey areas. If you want to do that, you'd better check with the group first. You should also consider this an exception, a favor from the group. I've had people ask to 'need' on items for their alt/companion multiple times in a single run. /rolleyes That said, one loot drop is generally no big deal. Maybe it was accidental, if it wasn't then I would explain to them what is/isn't ok to 'need' on. Yeah, I can see this sort of thing degenerating into an argument. I'm not the sort of person who's quick to kick anyone though, but if the behavior continued.
  2. This is what I find extremely offensive in what we were fed in regards to the change. The knockback was causing to much resolve and was detrimental to the bounty hunter. To fix this, we changed it to a root. Seriously, have you ever been fed a more foul steaming pile of B.S.? Do they realy think we as players are so stupid that we will believe: "shrug" sorry guys, nothing we can do the game decides for itself how much resolve is applied. There's nothing we can do about it but nerf your ability. One of those 'I can't believe he just said that' moments.

  4. I'm dying to get in game and try to expand this exploit! Next civil war map, I'm going to have the whole team form a circle around the objective at mid. Instant win!!! Oh, I can't wait! On a side note, I was defending a node on NC just the other day. Standing right in front of it all by my lonesome, when an enemy stealther showed up and kept trying to hack the node. I didn't even attack them for a few moments as I was just rofl as they tried to wiggle in behind to get to the node on one side, then the other. Eventually I said "Oh sorry, didn't see you there" and took a step forward. They started to hack the node and I killed them. But yeah .. this exploit can be a lot of fun, if you're on the right side.
  5. One question. Why are people still leaving WZ's? I have noticed virtually no change in the number of people leaving WZ's. This 'fix' didn't fix anything. FP queues have gotten longer. People are still bailing on WZ's left and right. The impact of this change has been an overall negative one. This was the wrong way to address the issue. Whole lot of back and forth about crap that that does not belong here. Whole lot of presumptions about intentions and so on. You're just selfish. You're just immature. None of that is relevent to the issue. A change was made. It did not fix the issue. It did more harm then good. Several suggestions have been made on ways to address the issue in a much more acceptable way for all those involved. Have they been forwarded, Allison Berryman | Senior Community Coordinator?
  6. Say what? That's exactly what these posts are. An attempt to validate these things. For the record, I don't think these issues are so much 'class specific' but may rather have more of an impact on some classes then others. It's hard to nail down because the issues I've been having seem to come and go at random. In fact the issues seem to be rather random. As though the engine is randomly missing steps in it's calculations.
  7. I've tried. I really have. I tried it in huttball. I tried it in civil war. I tried it in voidstar. I tried it on the coast. I tried it in Kaon. I tried it in false emperor. I tried it in black hole. I tried it in 1v1 away from the action. I tried it in the middle of a furball. I tried it in front of the objective. I tried it on every class in the game. I tried it to slow people down. I tried it when I got jumped. I tried it when I got the jump on someone. I tried it to kite. I tried it to stop ballcarriers. I tried it to save myself. I tried it to annoy people. I tried it to prevent LoS'ing. I tried it on mobs. I tried it on weak/standard/strong/elite/champion/boss. I tried. I cannot find any use for this ability that is beneficial to me in any way. Most of the time it either has no impact on the situation, or it only means I die faster. The old RP had limited uses, but it still had it's moments. Now? Well at least it still does some damage, that's all it is good for anymore.
  8. Uh ... hmm ... Are you sure you're playing the right game? Maybe you mean "not sold in the alotted time"? Are you recieving your item back? When you place an item you select a time frame for the sale (1 day 2 days etc.) You place a deposit. If the item sells within that time you should recieve an email as soon as it is purchased. Then an hour later you should recieve another email with the credits the item sold for and a portion of your deposit back. If the item doesn't sell in the time frame (whatever you selected-believe 2 days is max). At the end of the time frame you should recieve an email with the item and your deposit back. Are you maybe not seeing the 'length of sale' option and assuming the items should stay on GTN indefinitely? Actually now after re-reading, I think you may be seeing the original item sales email from previous sales remaining in your mailbox. You may be interpreting them as new 'item sold' messages when they are actually old mail? They used to delete themselves, now they stay in your mailbox untill you delete them. When you recieve the new mail with the credits, it doesn't get rid of the original mail message.
  9. The only thing that surprises me is that this post hasn't been "moved". After 1.4X The little patch the other day. I'm also getting a white box in the upper left quarter of the screen when logging out. I'm also seeing the UI persisting overtop of load screens.
  10. I picked up a handfull of them. Got frustrated and well forget about it. Maybe some day I'll get the rest. Jumping has changed. There's now some sort of "bounce back" mechanic when jumping that never used to be in place. Add to it the lag/stuttering issues lately and there's just not enough precision with character movement. One thing that always got to me is that the holocrons are in areas, through areas of the game that are not finished/polished. To easy to get stuck/glitched/fall through etc. Having to start all over through no fault of your own. I sat through the jawa balloon 4 times. The first three I 'glitched' to the ground half way through. On the fourth I finaly made the whole trip, won't be doing it on any other toons unless I find myself incredibly bored some day. Some people may find them fun, good for them.
  11. Not quite sure what to make of this ..... Years .. actually more than a decade ago, post patch bug and nerf complaints on game forums would often use the term. "This is a slap in the face" So as time went by it became a bit of a joke to include "Slap In The Face " to any complaint. Just a humorous comment. I don't know what that has to do with being a 'jailers pet'? Or having dreams of being spat upon? Perhaps you should look into that.
  12. Just did this quest yesterday ... here's what greeted me.... Well .. nevermind. I took a bunch of screenshots but only one showed up in screenshot folder and it's not a good one. Anyway, the room had a huge hole in it open to space. The floor and ceiling were missing I could only walk around the edges of the room. The mobs all fell through the missing floor, then proceeded to beat the crap out of me and my companion while I couldn't target them. Had to 'kite' them around to other areas to get them to 'pop' up onto the same level so I could kill them. Took 3 deaths to finally get the mobs cleared so I could continue the mission. I thought it was funny at first ... ha, look at the stupid imps falling through the hole in the floor...then they started beating on me through the floor.

Ion pulse -- medium range I use this alot though it eats ammo fast it does good damage Stock strike -- melee range I use this a moderate amount, the damage is 'blah' High impact bolt ranged effect dependent I use this when it's available, though it doesn't seem to have a 'high impact' Pulse cannon -- medium range AE situational, I usually only use if multiple targets, or I have plenty of ammo and other attacks on CD Sticky grenade -- ranged delayed small AE I use this when it's off CD for the most part, but I don't 'focus' on using it all the time Explosive surge -- PBAoE situational, best used IMO to interrupt multiple objective hackers damage is 'blah' and ammo usage is high Riot strike -- melee range Interrupt, so only used when interrupt is needed. Neural surge -- taunt Situational Sonic round -- ranged AE taunt Situational Doesn't stock strike trigger the same ion effect I get from hammer shots? I thought high impact bolt was an 'incapacitated target' type attack, maybe if I use stock strike more high impact will be more usefull? As I said I use it when it's 'up' but maybe I'm not triggering it to be 'up' as often as I should be. I don't have storm or energy blast yet. I'll have to go back and pay more attention to the stock strike-high impact relationship.

  16. Uh, ok.... As I thought I stated I have characters of every class....so.....I dunno what you're trying to say here. Anyhow. Mostly tank spec with a little of the middle tree (don't recall, think it might be 'tactics'?) Melee range .. for the most part. I only have what two abilities that are melee range, and one of those is my interrupt. It's not that I'm having any problems, I'm just surprised that 'hammer shots' I think it's called is used so much. Where, as I mentioned, with the other classes the basic attack is no more than a filler here and there. I figured it would be phased out as I gained levels and new abilities, as is the case with the other classes. But that doesn't appear to be the case.
  17. Poor Elara. She's no doubt thinking "Blast, this idiot couldn't match my gear if there was only one choice!" Of course she would never say it aloud.
  18. Really? Because I deleted my type 2 lvl40-something marauder a while back to start a type 3. With the type 2 he just looked like to much of a toothpick panzy. Pretty much all my toons are type 3 no matter the class, I just can't stand the skinny little type 2 body. Now armor does make a difference, the type 2 doesn't look to bad as long as it's in some bulky heavy armor. The type 3 on the other hand wearing not-so-bulky armor looks pretty darn 'average'.
  19. Main is an arsenal Merc. I have one of every class, now that we have 12 slots I'll be starting up 4 more of diff AC's. 5 of my toons are lv 50 My Vanguard is mid-30's. I find I spend most of my time with a 'rotation' of: 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 (oh hey look I can press this one again) 4-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 Yes, I exagerate. It just seems odd compared to my other toons. On others the basic attack is nothing more than a 'filler' when heat levels get to high, or energy is empty. On my VG the basic attack seems to be my main attack. Last time at the trainer I selected 'show all' just to see what new abilities I can look forward to....... Wow, really? There's only like 3 I don't already have. What do VG rotations generally look like? Is it normal for the basic attack to play such a prominent role? Maybe it's normal .. just seems weird. Even my JK tank only uses his basic attack once, sometimes twice in rotation.

  21. Indeed, pre-1.4 The fixes for stuttering consisted of downloading and installing DX libraries, and cycling character textures to low then back to high. The issue is with the way the game loads textures. 1.4 came along and the above 'fixes' no longer have any impact and the stuttering is worse than ever. Turning off 'name tags scale with distance' provides a considerable improvement. This however leaves you with a big pile of name tags blocking your view. Add to it the fact that the game's memory leaks have been largely ignored, and after a couple hours gameplay further degrades. For some (seems to be those on 32bit OS's) CTD's start happening. The new 'super servers' also introduced random lag spikes, which havn't gotten any better. At this point the game's performance is a 'little of everything' problem.
  22. Favourite companion? Frivolous nonesense. Why not talk about ways to make companions more involved in the later stages of the game. Making them more 'active' on ones ship instead of just standing in one spot. Companion dueling would be a blast as a 'mini-game'. Picture a 'companion fight pit' on fleet, or nar shadaa. Right now, they're fine through the class story rail ride. Once you finish the story ... they go away for the most part. I'd love to see some sort of FP with mechanics involving companions. Who's your favourite companion? That's the sort of discussion best left in elementary school classrooms between ABC's and nap time.
  23. *waves hand* There are no bugs or glitches. The game is working flawlessly. Move along. Yeah .. playing with giant name tags so that the graphics stutter and lag is ... well less than unplayable levels, is getting on my nerves. Can't see much beyond a furball of oversized red name tags in WZ's.
  24. Yep, that's right. Remove all mods/armoring/enhancements/augments from all gear in the game. Then allow them to instead be 'installed' into the characters 'slot'. Thus all your stats come from your mods, and the gear you place in the slot is entirely for the look you want. Who needs an additional 'appearance tab'. Just use the slots you have for appearance and tie the mods to the character instead of the gear.
