  1. It was said that many of the new features will be available in March. I don't know which features, exactly, but "many" is what I seem to remember being said.
  2. You can bind those slots to keybinds now (as in your example). Go to preferences and look at the bottom of the window for keybind tab. Look in the options for 'quickslots' or quickbars.. something like that, and bind your keys to your heart's desire. ________________________ I'd really like a fully customizable UI (my own graphics, etc..), but I can deal with built-in options as long as there is an option to scale each ui element independently (each quickslot bar, each window, ability to toggle bars horizontal or vertical (at least bars 3 and 4), and an overall -UI scale- (which is in, from what was shown in video... but that alone for scaling isn't enough). Stop the companion returning from missions and closing my existing windows (GTN, etc..). Hire Norganna's (creator of 'auctioneer') team to build a new GTN. When it comes to money, EA isn't in short supply. Why aren't they (EA/BW) hiring experienced programmers that know what gamers want in regards to functionality and aesthetics? GTN, GUI window behavior, chat system, as well as a few other items.. could all have been done in a manner that felt like it was 'meant for TOR'. Huge borders and an unchanging glow in your eyes don't make it easy for people who aren't on and off in an hour or three. Not even going to get into buff/debuff display. *I haven't played WoW since WotLK first came out... unsubbed during the first month of it.* Back to my thoughts on SW:TOR... I really like the game mechanics though (aside from delays, animation glitches). I like not having auto attack, I like combat initiation behavior, I like my companions' AI, I enjoy the story, and I feel like I'm in an epic adventure. 1 VS 1 PvP feels fun, and Warzones are fun. PvP feels balanced, unless you consider faction imbalance ratios in regards to Imp:Pub (in places like Ilum). I'd like to see chat bubbles too, with the option for others to turn them off (or option for me to turn them on). Big deal for me: feeling comfortable playing for a few hours. Right now I don't, and the reasons are listed above (prior to my WoW disclaimer). Please think about what will keep people logging on and staying on.. feeling comfortable and having fun with a challenge.
  3. I wonder if he could "talk" an IQ test.. I know there is an oral section to a lot of exams, but "talking the SATs" seems pretty extreme. And by looking at his posts... talking the SATs was probably a better choice.
  4. /serenity prayer Hi, I'm Yhor and I'm an a... oh, where did I put my keys (in the ignition). /peels out of parking lot
  5. The UI customization in the video looked very sub par compared to pretty much -any- other game on the market... just from what was shown in the video. If you can't scale the UI elements independently, then there's no real customization other than moving something around to where it looks out of place. But at least there's hope for dual screens. Oh yeah... chat bubbles. Are those on a list somewhere, as an option of coarse?
  6. I'm not a RPer and not having chat bubbles bugs me. I like random conversation without having to say "hold on, let me modify a chat tab bro". I like to /yell in PvP. I like to have fun with stuff I say, or laugh at stuff other people says. And I like to see it on screen, not in a tiny window that is framed with 4x6 lumber instead of a nice trim. So instead, I turn chat off (click the little arrow in the top left corner of the screen) until I hear a sound notification that I've received a /whisper. Want to chat with me at length? Bugger off unless you hop on Mumble, TS, or Vent. Some of you might genuinely enjoy communication in this game, but I loathe it because of the hoops I have to jump through to facilitate meaningful conversation. My game time went from 20ish hours per week down to about 8 hours, because I can't seem to get comfortable with any aspect of the UI, including communication. PS. I don't mind sitting on the floor, but it looks pretty stupid.
  7. It's not just you. It seems BW hosts an amateur hour for their forum team. So much potential overshadowed by all the little things that really stand out. It can be ugly if it works, but no amount of 'pretty' can make something good if it simply doesn't function properly.
  8. I agree here. I played through WotLK to Naxx 10/25 man. Found it boring, with too many changes, and left. No, I won't be resubbing to WoW, ever. I won't touch another Blizzard game either, until they prove they can be consistent with game/class mechanics... even then, I'll be extremely hesitant. I'm sick of ever changing changes to whatever class I play (and I hated SoE for the same/similar reasons.. CU and NGE). Don't screw with game mechanics and/or class mechanics and I'll continue to play a fun/semi-fun game. Take away my consistency and I'll take away my sub and likely never look back (not with any serious intent anyway). I can deal with bugs and glitches, but I can't deal with lip service and caving to crybabies in regards to game mechanics. I can also deal with cosmetic and functionality changes, like needed UI improvements and how you interact with other players on your server.
  9. I turn off General chat because I'd rather just play the game. This limits the functionality of the game for me, to being a single player game with multiplayer co-op. I'd rather be able to enjoy it as it was intended, but alas, kids (from 10 to 70 yrs old) like to be obnoxious. So no, I don't report. I don't ignore. I simply don't participate at all. I have thick skin, I like to PvP, and I like telling someone if I think they're stupid. I don't like seeing someone stir up drama for those people who don't, or can't, defend themselves... for whatever reason, and that's why I simply disregard General altogether. I'd probably get reported for abusive behaviour towards a troll, faster than a troll would get reported for being disruptive towards all of the General channel.
  10. I've had good PvP on both Tat and Alderan at lower levels. I'm also Republic and I go out of my way to make it happen. Random PvP is more fun to me than Warzones, and so far I haven't been very disappointed. The only thing I think could be improved, in order to facilitate more random PvP, is to give credit for it.. or am I missing something like codex entry or whatever? At Level 26 or so, having not been in a warzone at that time, I couldn't find a kill count anywhere (character sheet/quick glance at codex) after having killed dozens of Imps on Tat. But yeah.. world peeveepee happens.
  11. Sounds like the stealth guy simply outplayed his 10 opponents. He should get an award for that, not a nerf. Seriously though.. PvP requires you to know as much about your opponents' abilities as you know about your own abilities. Figure that out and you're ahead of the game. Be ready to stop spamming your go-to ability and use something to counter... even if you have 10 people already on your target. I hate to say learn to play, it's bad form. I do think people who constantly complain do need to educate themselves though, especially in terms of what they could do to counter what they're complaining about in the first place.
  12. Exactly. It's too early to tell atm exactly what needs to be done and to whom. My experience against sorcerers has been diverse. I find good opponents occasionally, but for the most part I just steamroll them (I'm a Gunnery Trooper hybrid). I've found that good players of any class can beat me... and Sorcerers don't have an advantage in this regard, in my experience (mostly world PvP). The game is still new. People will learn to play, and then they'll write guides telling others how to play. Some people can't adapt and overcome obstacles without a guide. Give it a little time before throwing the nerfbat at everyone.
  13. The only realistic way I know to be a "gatherer", in the sense you're describing, is bio analysis and scavenging. You can harvest resources from strong level droids with scavenging and strong level bestiary with bio analysis. There's also slicing, but that nets you credit cases directly. Not much game interaction as you described. Good luck and have fun.
  14. As rotten as it was in Groton, I sure loved pulling in to home port. We didn't have any QMs on our boat (Nav ETs now.. or at least when I was in), but we sure met a lot of 'em in bars. Seemed that was the only rate that would try to start it up with us bubbleheads (surface fleet vs bubblehead rhetoric ad vitriol). Our 'A'-gangers loved it. I didn't/don't get the hate between different branches and/or divisions/designations. I did 5, because there wasn't a 4 year option for my C school guarantee (Goose Creek SC). It's great seeing so many prior/current military here though. Definitely no other brotherhood that can compare to drills, military grade janitorial training, and blowing stuff up (not that I advocate blowing stuff up needlessly, especially where lives are at stake).
  15. USN (SS/DV) MM2 Nuclear mechanic; LA class submarines. 1998-2003 in Rotten Groton.
  16. There are plenty of free alternatives. Mumble (can host your own server from your PC) Skype Raidcall There are also ways to host vent from your PC, but you can search that on your own... and I don't recommend it. Mumble is OpenSource as well, so if you can program, you can contribute to their project and make modifications that suit your needs. It's also very low latency and uses less resources than any of the other VoIP clients/servers. Great quality sound, imo, better than vent.
  17. I can log in fine. You should probably head over to the customer support forums to see if you can find a solution.
  18. He's complaining about customer service, not bugs. But yeah, the anger is a bit over the top on a public forum.
  19. No, you're right. It doesn't have to be perfect at launch, or even a year after launch... but common mistakes that have been made over and over by other developers shouldn't keep happening. You have to be able to learn from mistakes, even (especially) if the mistakes were made by your competitor first.
  20. What is ERP? I'm guessing Erotic-RolePlay? If yes, then yeah.. definitely should be private, RP server or no.
  21. It's more likely that they'll go the LOTRO route and give you options for the UI in game, hard coded. Givin their stance on opening the API to the public so far, that's the most likely scenario.
  22. Yeah, this is a new game. Yeah, it's BW's first MMO. Yeah, there's some bugs to be expected. BUT... We are doomed to repeat past mistakes if we can't learn from the mistakes of others. BioWare, and EVERY OTHER person/corporation in the gaming industry knows how to at LEAST try to avoid making the same mistakes that competitors made years ago. MMOs are not new, and the mistakes BioWare/EA are making are not new. Bugs aside, mistakes have been made needlessly. I'm hoping to see mistakes corrected, because I enjoy playing this game for the most part. I have no intention on playing the other MMOs that are released currently; I'm just giving an object opinion from a subjective point of view. What are these "mistakes", you might ask? No community support, in game with guilds/friends and no support with forums in a manner that is actually beneficial to anyone. The UI is locked, unable to move UI elements, or even scale them. At least in EQ (10+ years ago), you had a game world viewport that wasn't cluttered by UI elements... and iirc, you could scale it. Customer service is terrible. I won't get into details because that horse is dead and rotting.
  23. This looks like a great tool for guild seekers and guild recruiters alike. I made a mention to this thread and added a link to the tool on the "Useful wikis, tools, and DBs" sticky at SWTOROwned. Link to the mention, if interested... http://www.swtorowned.com/general-swtor-discussion/537-ideal-guild-quiz.html
  24. I disabled chat (hide it from the interface through the arrow button in top left corner) and play the game as a single player with co-op. If I group, we use Mumble to communicate, or TS3. The chat gets in my way. Both by annoying conversation and not being able see what's behind it if my mouse hovers over any part of the chat frame. I don't interact unless I happen to hear the sound notification for my name and/or inc. whisper. I do this not to be a jerk, but because I don't enjoy the game as an MMO, other than the PvP aspect. Changes to the UI would help, such as unlocking and allowing us to scale the UI elements, giving us viewport options, etc... but the annoying conversations will always be there; haunting us with leet speak and lingo that's unfit for a drunken frat party.
  25. Post title reads "To all you who QQ" Not "To all of you complaining about being ignored" You should have articulated it more clearly, possibly with less angst and more constructive feedback.
