I have detailed this in another post and I agree with the OP 100%. There REALLY needs to be some kinds of sandbox component to this that allows the players to feel immersed in the SW environment rather than a story with some SW elements. I enjoy TOR, but SWG is by far the single greatest MMO I have played. Bioware, please incorporate SWG in your game!! Get away from WoW! It's MMO-lite on training wheels!

I wish I could tell you I liked at least ONE. I read all kinds of literature, and I can easily say that there are some really, REALLY bad authors who write SW EU stories. The ones I know to stay away from are Traviss, Allston and Denning. I read the Legacy of the Force series (9 books) and all of them were garbage. I also read Shadows of the Empire because it got some pretty decent reviews as a tie in between ESB and RotJ. It was not that great either. I would like to know as well if there are any others that stand out at all.

I am ending this thread right here as this has been brought up time and time again.... Everyone knows the similarities are very close. Bioware even knows this. If you truly had a game that was based technology and culture that was 3000 years before what you KNEW to be the standard expectation, then you would have a completely unrecognizable game that would look nothing like "Star Wars". Would you buy a game that called itself Star Wars that had no resemblance to it? No! It's just marketing and IP recognition. That's it. That's all. /endthread

Most of the negative posts I have seen go well beyond "criticism". No one cares if you throw your toys down and stomp off. That's what whiny children do. I have seen really good dialogue on real issues. But for someone to throw a fit in a forum and post the "FU Bioware, I quit!" trash, then yeah, they are going to get dog piled. And for you to say we are "fanboys" isn't any better than them telling you to go back to wow. That right there just put everyone who read this on the defensive if they have a differing view point.

Nice post! Many of us wanted a pre-NGE SWG. It was known that was most likely not going to happen. But it was truly a marvel of it's time. It wouldn't be such a bad idea to just make post 50 based on an SWG template. You leveled your profession, you can train into others if you want. Not only that, but you could choose a primary and secondary class. Now THAT would shake up the end game PvP! Player Housing. Your crafting profession would allow you to create items that would be NECESSARY for other players to accomplish different aspects of the game (ie - you have to have certain stims to wear certain armor) Set up storefronts with vendors New professions (dancer, politician, etc) It would be nice. /sigh Miss the good ole days.

The OT had character. The prequels were flat and I did not feel sympathetic to anyone in them. GL needs to pass the mantle to someone else and let them try to take the franchise to a new direction.

Does that arch not take place until well after 50% affection is gained? I thought the dialogue was pretty linear in terms of Mako wanting a piece of him. I just figured it would happen later. It was my understanding that at >=50%, the romance options open up. Just want clarification if I missed something or not. Not looking for spoilers, per se.

It's what you get when you want to market it to kids, despite it's Teen rating. I mean really, they would not have modeled this after the single most dumbed down game to get the high subscritions if they maded this game even REMOTELY challenging. I like the game, but yes, I am signing this... could use something with a little complexity.

If you only played WoW for 7 years and jumped straight into this, then you have lived a sheltered MMO life. Not directing this toward you alone, but I can't take seriously anything anyone says when all they played was WoW. I have always considered that game to be "MMO lite on training wheels". Those who have sampled many MMO's to see what works and what doesn't, most often refer back to SWG(Pre-NGE) and say that THAT was the game of games. THAT should be the template for which other MMOs' should be built on. Not some low rendered, childish fantasy play world that really (compared to many other MMO's) takes NO skill to play. Anyway, SWG... <sniff> we miss you. TOR... there's still time. We can wait.

I think if you took the story and voice acting elements of TOR and married them to the sandbox, skill based, player driven community of SWG... I would never leave home.... ever... Maybe that's a good thing they are not merged.

I am not too worried about the board as I am the case. It's a standard sized board.

When I run TOR and Rift, my temps on my CPU and GPU run hot. That's common, I know. I have a Core i7, on an Intel board with an nVidea GTX275 (yes, I know it could be better) and 6 GB of RAM. The issue (aside from the graphics card) I believe is the heat sink/fan that came with the cpu. One of those dinky Intel radial sinks with the fan on top. So, until I get a better card, I figured I needed to install a better heat sink/fan. It would be good all around. Newegg users rated the Thermaltake Frio as one of the best. I read many of those reviews and nowhere did I see any complaints regarding the dimensions. I will also say that my perception of distance and size is somewhat lacking. So, I KNEW it was 120mm fan. In my mind, I thought 120mm was about this big: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Because hey, who needs to measure?! AMIRIGHT? For those trying to argue simple logic to the haters who want the game to fail: you're wasting your time and sanity. They will never be satisfied with a simple answer unless it is the one they wan to hear. And they simply want the game to fail to justify why THEY are not enjoying it.

It amazes me how much the entitled "Oh, I know more than you and I know what's REALLY going on" attitude runs rampant through these boards. There was really only one of two ways this was ever going to go. 1. EA reports they are happy with the sales results of TOR: Immediate conspiracy theories or cries of "Shenanigans!". 2. EA reports they were not pleased with the sales results of TOR: Immediate "AHA!! See??! They DO suck! FAILFAILFAILFAILBLAAARGLREGLARBLE!!!" Really? Just take the news for what it's worth and either play the game or don't.
