  1. I am a 10/31/0 myself - valor 66 Engineering is a very solid and underrated feat tree (even more so after 1.2). IMO, engineering has some of the more essential feats, including some of the best objective defence in the game. Its not just energy efficiency, Its survivability. An Engineer spec sniper is MUCH harder to dig out than the other builds. For my style, this trade off is well worth it. P.S and yes I still completely blow people up (you will need to tailor your gear first though)

  3. Marauders and Sentinels are VERY manageable. Just keep your head and counter everything they throw at you Some tips that maybe useful to you Legshot, legshot, legshot. If they use saber ward or Invul, leg shot them and hold fire….let them cool off for 5 seconds. (same applies for flashbang..if used when they cant break let them sit it out, then leg shot them at the end if you need more time 10 seconds of downtime). While waiting you can put an explosive probe on them. If you knock them back and they go into stealth to avoid your ambush, chances are they are using it to close on you, Call orbital on your position (they will be forced to retreat or commit to dying) 2 pieces of operative PVP gear for 4 seconds of evasion is priceless Diversion, will nullify a great many of their attacks. pre-emptively entrench if you see they are going to commit. Ballistic shield if required Snipers have the best tool set to send marauders/sentinels to the grave.

The fact that you said one of the easiest to steam roll stinks of beating on rookie snipers Even if the sniper does lose to you, he should have at the very least, made you blow ALL (and I mean all) your cooldowns and left you close to dead. I wont say I always steam roll marauders/sentinels (there is always somebody better), but not far from it. Lets just say that once they have "tried" to take a nibble, they don’t come back without friends

  6. yup. Well played operatives are still monsters. (thank god they are rare) They are the "only" class that I dont want coming anywhere near me.
  7. My sniper eats marauders/sentinels. They mostly keep their distance unless they have support. there are alot at the moment. mostly just fodder. There are, however premades of 3 - 4 organised marauders that become paintful to deal with. The all focus fire and disappear/invul 1 after the other. THATS annoying...
  8. If you cant use the benefits of cover (of which there are many), the sniper class isnt for you. Thats nothing to get upset about, everyone has a different style. Sniper isnt yours. Valor 66 - ENG Sniper, Extreme damage since Early Access

  10. I was working on one before the patch. lost interest for the moment (because of player trend, not the class. huge buff? LOL...mindless sheep) I will re-visit when the FoTM crowd flock to my sniper.
  11. Obliterate is the culprit This charge isnt effected by cover. Dont know if this is intentional, but that is what it is.

  13. You assumed I premade. Truth is I PuG more than anything else. And when I do premade, its with friends in a useless composition. (none of us like healing, or tanking, essential components when premading to win). Signing up together is actually a recipe for fail, but we do it anyway because we like playing together. My experience is from playing alone. I don’t expect support in any way, because unless in a premade, people don’t tend to support snipers. You have to watch your own back.
  14. I’m Sorry you are having issues. But quite frankly if you have played long enough to be Battlemaster, and still think snipers are bad, I don’t think this class is for you (not your style) I don’t see my self as a support killer at all, My team supports me ( the most significant portion of damage will come from me). I can easily take down any class without assistance and in a very short time span. In heal cluster f-cuks my burst is essential to destroying the healers. Not only that, I have a very good chance at beating most classes in 1 on 1 (when the situation occurs), the only exceptions being a well played scoundrel and tank assassin. Our defensive cool downs are an absolute nightmare for one of the most dangerous classes in the game atm. I am literally carving up marauders/sentinels so badly, that they are making a point of staying away from me. Legshot, is an amazing tool. Simply amazing. Premades will want snipers to control the marauders/sentinels I have the best door defence available in voidstar (plasma probe) Sure we have a weakness against tanks, but I see no problem with that. Tanks have the right to be tanky against “something”. We can also tailor our stats/specs to combat tanks if we wish. Every 8 man premade will want a well played sniper. Right now they may not know this. but they will wake up.
  15. I just accept that premade teams will probably win because they are "organised". (not always the case, Our duo can trump alot of the 4 mans we see) Lucky for me, The main enjoyment isn’t from winning over all. Its the glory of defeating my foes. As soon as its inevitable the premade is going to win, I go into cornered lion mode and savour the fight. Small victories such as killing the healer the premade is giving everything to protect become my objectives. Or drawing out members of the premade and killing them silently. As long as the scoreboard shows the damage I inflicted on them, and that they felt my sting, I am satisfied. None of this leaving, or sitting in a corner behaviour. Its probably very much learned behaviour. I have PuG’d in every MMO I have played for years. Standing alone against premade’s is nothing new
  16. There is no "best" spec per say. It really depends on the style of the player and what they want to achieve. I myself run 2 specs 23/18/0 insane burst damage combined with Orbital devastation every time its off cool down. Very much my kill or be killed spec. I prefer the 30% extra AoE crit damage over a 6% crit increase (orbital mostly crits as it is) 10/31/0 good burst, great area control, elemental damage options and much tougher to kill than other sniper variant’s. I might add this is my preferred spec, even more so with the 1.2 changes. I have spent 80% of my time as this build.
  17. Civil War Vantage points -Mid Balcony’s -set up on top of a capture node. Takes a certain approach to get on top but it will make you very hard to kill for melees. -any piece of high ground you can get. The rubble heaps are good if you are fighting off point (don’t know why you are. Just saying) Voidstar Defending First set of doors is a *****. The surroundings work against you here and as you are backed into a corner. The second doors have a high ground (ramp) in between them with LoS to both doors. If they come after you, you can manoeuvre to knock them into the abyss [*]Last doors aren’t ideal. There is no “good” vantage point for LoS on both doors. Plenty of obstacles for cover/kiting however. Voidstar attacking Pretty straight forward. You can fall back as much as you need.
  18. In a well balanced premade, snipers provide some of the best on-call punching power(burst) available while mostly being out of harms way. (Lethiality less so) For myself (engineer spec or 23/18/0), I offer one of the best tool sets for defending objective points, or crazy burst damage. There have been times in Voidstar where I have defended both doors. Orbital on one, plasma probe on the off door (fire and forget) People will wake up to snipers some day. At the moment, snipers are often neglected by the support classes. It is amazing how devastating snipers are when the support characters realise their worth and decide to help them stay alive.
  19. Operatives/Scoundrels are the most painful class to deal with. You will always fight on their terms, and they will have unloaded on you before you can react. They will always CC chain you from stealth, knockdown then stun when that wears off. Escape needs to be used on the second. From there I will always CC (they will break), you need to hit with legshot just after they break. If possible leave the root for the entire duration and create some distance. Most of my deaths are from such cases but in the end it is fair (they are our hard counter). You will tend to remember them more than other classes because they have such a high success rate. The thing to remember is, look at the score board at the end, you will generally find they had lower kills and more deaths than you. I had one game with a really well geared op (and a great player) Kill me repeatedly (I managed to create distance only once to kill him). it felt like I had died to him 1000 times. At the end of the game I only had 4 deaths (all him. he had 8 deaths and half my kills

    It was a reasonable assumption, unless something has changed somewhere along the way to the ability itself (I haven’t seen any changes) I used to be able to knock marauders out of stealth (with damage) before everyone started using the 100% damage reduction - I assumed this was the only reason why. If its not the case even after the change, at least my dots will still be doing “some” damage.
  22. The only thing that annoys me is a Sorceror deflecting my ambush on the rare occasion. AS far as Im concerned, tanks are entitled to their shields and defence because it only really protects them from a few classes.
  23. if you insist on using it minimally, lethality is your calling. If you plan to use a sniper to its max potential however, cover is essential and you will need to be in it as much as possible. Benefits of cover are huge - ranged defence chance – complete ranged immunity (hard cover) - cannot be interrupted - cannot be charged or pulled (insanely imporant) - access to highest damage attacks - complete cc immunity for 20 seconds every minute (amazing) - cover pulse - feated ballistic dampeners (30% damage absorb is amazing) - feated 6% dmg reduction - feated Insta snipe
  24. I am a 3 piece battlemaster with the rest champion. I have tailored my stats to take advantage of my spec. Currently I dont have stims or adrenals. I dont even use warzone medpacks (saving as many commendations as possible). Its very much do or die. The only class that bothers me significantly is a well played Operative/scoundral or tank assasin. (ie classes with high burst damage that can get close without me seeing and unload alot of damage before I can counter)

    Its astonishing how few people actually see it for what it is. No more 100% damage reduction spec. Finally I can knock them out of stealth.
