  1. One of the dumber writing decisions. You finally make the HK we wanted to replace the disappointment that was HK-51, arguably the most interesting of the new companions to me at least, and then you kill him. Not only that but you hype that Decisions Matter! Then the companion you kill doesn't involve any choices on your part. Just... wow. I hope you're planning to have him repaired by someone and he returns, because otherwise, this was just dumb.
  2. Umm, if you want to see actual gameplay, login and play? I don't know what some people think is going to be different.
  3. I'm sure it's been said, but I'll say it again: Acklay mount!
  4. Number one: We clearly need an Acklay mount. Number two: *I* need Lana's new armor. This is exactly the armor look I've been wanting for a Sith. Almost exactly, close enough it'd make me happy. I mean we all need it of course... but still. Thank you for your time! Or not if you ignored this, thanks away though.
  5. Personally I see Cathar as a good excuse to do Red Dwarf references endlessly.
  6. The thing I love about these two speeders is they actually have some character. I've been pretty disappointed in new speeders often just being a different color scheme, which is a choice I always felt should have been available from the player side from the beginning but I understand how things go. I would definitely like to see this trend in speeder design continue and extend to some other styles. Before I post this though I'll just say especially nice work on the Czerka desert special, I've always disliked that style of speeder (and most of the standing ones in general) but this version actually makes it something I enjoy using. Thanks.
  7. Not soon enough. And remember, the success of the Cathar means eventual success for your race.
  8. It occurs to me that people with actual skill at pvp wouldn't be complaining. I suppose it must be a real downer to find out that you weren't awesome and it was just your abundance of time spent grinding for gear that let you think you were some sort of pvp superstar. Personally when I'm in pvp I prefer to know it's my knowledge and skill with my class verses the other person's skill with their class. Then again I can understand some people can't handle the fact that if they lose it's now their fault and not "Oh, this person had better gear than me!" I feel a bit like Cartman with Scott Tenorman reading this thread, your tears, they're so delicious.
  9. The thing that is beyond hilarious, is I watched the E3 video and said to myself: Well this will cost about $20, same with my friends. Instead some of it has actually been free, gasp! How do you people function on the planet Earth when you fail so badly at using past experience to arrive at a reasonable conclusion about a similiar future event? Oh, wait, I know how you function; you basically stand around yelling "Rabblerabblerabble" as loudly as you can while threatening to leave the game.
  10. "What happened?" "He tried to block my lightsaber with his hands. It was a bit downhill for him after that."
  11. Just expand your chat window to a decent size and it honestly shouldn't be a problem. Then again a good chunk of my nerdy childhood was spent with IRC based RP so, yeah, doesn't bother me one bit.
  12. I don't recall watching the E3 video and thinking "Yay, free stuff! There's no way I'll be paying for a new planet and new race!" Though I did think I wouldn't be paying that much, and I'll be damned if I wasn't correct. $10.00 was pretty much the price point I expected, if not $20. Then again I expected everything in that video to come out together and be lumped together, instead we've gotten HK, the new warzone, and whatever that new raid was I think? Not big on repeating flashpoints/operations so... yeah. That's boring to me and I didn't pay attention. If you sit around being this pissed at the game, why are you still playing? Because you love it that much? I've enjoyed a lot of games but I've always reached a point where it was time to play something new and leave it behind or at least take a break. When you sit around being angry about stuff in the game that's a good sign you need a break. It's not healthy folks.
  13. Here's a thought: Judge the damned thing when it's nearly released and you actually know what it's bringing to the table. Just a crazy wild idea, but then again this is an MMO forum those seem to require common sense to stay at least 1,000 feet away. Supposedly the quests on the planet are actually going to be more telling the world story than one off quests. I'll believe it when I see it, but for the love of god you people can't stop saying the sky is falling. And wow, and someone just bought GW2? Enjoy that... for about a month. Say what you want about TOR, but I've enjoyed it for the better part of a year. Then again that's just me. GW2 had awful voice acting, terrible story telling, no lightsabers, and every class was pretty damned boring by the time you got halfway through it. I reached a point in the main quest where I pretty much just said "Yeah, I'm done, this is awful." Story is what keeps me playing a game, not repeating the same boring quests, not grinding for new gear, not having some stupid status symbol to show off. So sue me, I enjoy quality voice acting and some decent storytelling. I didn't sit around in the GW2 forums nonstop going on about all the things I disliked or how I was quitting or blah blah blah. A sure sign you're getting older: Your tolerance for other people's stupid crap drops to very low levels.
  14. Isn't that pretty much the definition of a hater though? Some people in this world are built to be unhappy no matter what. Most of these same people would be whining 2 years from now when everything they whine about now isn't around. They'll go to another game and whine in the same fashion. It's what they do, it's their thing, it's the nature of the MMO community and largely the gamer community as a whole. I don't like it, so it's terrible goes the general though process. They'll whine when Blizzard put's out a new MMO, if it's different they'll complain it's too different. If it's quite a bit like WoW they'll whine it's not different enough. They'll whine that it's dark and cold then they'll cry that it's too bright and hot. The internet makes a career out of whining, I'm doing it right now! You did it! They do it! So, in the traditional spirit of the internet I say: You're all wrong, I'm right, and if you don't like it I won't read you reply!
  15. Cathar first, something easy supposedly, see how it does and then decide if it's worth it to add more races. Personally I'll gladly pay extra money to unlock playable Trandoshans, Mon Cal, Nautolans, and even Cathar at the moment for the sake of a new race. That and I think Jennifer Hale's voice would go best with a Cathar. I do love "I hate it, thus no one should get it" mentality that's always lurking. I'm not a fan of Togruta which is basically just another human reskin, but I don't go around saying it shouldn't be in the game. Still, I had my heart set on a Trandoshan back when hardly anything was known about this game. Honestly, if it was a playable race in SWG it should've been a playable race here.
  16. Where's Samuel L Jackson when you need him?
  17. Where they really went wrong was when they decided to remove everything being orange, then for a moment we thought we wouldn't have orange armor at all which was beyond insane to go the WoW armor route of mismatched crap you change out every few levels. At least they kept it around, but I'd say going back to all orange would help with the variety issue a little. Personally I'd say add new iconic looks into the game... not just new colors of the current stuff but some new designs that still capture the iconic look we expect from the classes. New colors of existing stuff would definitely be recommended though. And for the love of god, let us hide the backpack on the Trooper armor.
  18. Trooper armor from the Trooper character creation screen (i.e. my favorite armor without the stupid backpack), with some different (and the same) colors available. The actual Mandalorians armor in the proper colors. The uniform from the IA's character selection screen would be nice to just pick up on the market. Basically my big gripes: I hate the backpacks slapped on the Trooper armor and would gladly pay to not endure that. The current armor just seems bland on the color spectrum... I mean all grey for the Trooper armor? Pretty much the same for the Bounty Hunter armor pieces? Blah...
  19. Aren't you just discounting the probability that General Garza is simply very hands on with the most important operations in the field? Havoc Squad is supposed to be the best unit under her command for story purposes. She commands Special Forces, played a key role in it's founding, it doesn't seem odd for her to be in the middle of things. What else is General Garza going to be doing if not interacting with her top team while it's doing some seriously important missions throughout the game? Chapter One obviously requires her personal attention. And supposedly a lot of people joined along in that on the wrong side, so one has to wonder how many teams are left anyway. Regardless, you basically prove yourself even more in Chapter One and reaffirm her decision to make you Commander of Havoc. Chapter Two, consdering it technically would violate the Treaty of Coruscant I think it's fair to say a decent chunk of the Republic government prefers to keep the Treaty intact and not goad the Empire. Finally, Chapter which I'm rusty on considering I haven't seen it since I leveled up with a friend doing Commando and I personally did it in Beta, meh... at this point again, it's her top team and she's proven herself from the very beginning to be hands on. It's not hard to spare time for a holo call to give out your orders. Now beyond that, you have a strong female character that Commands the Republic's best, why make this awesome character and give her a lower position just so you don't complain about her interacting with you? Why create another character to play middle man? In the end my best advise is: Stop working yourself up and enjoy the story. There are some people I know who won't enjoy a good story in a movie and just sit there going "That'd never happen, that'd never work" ... that's no fun to be around. If you want some really bad writing, I recommend Guild Wars 2.
  20. All I can say, is the original cast is still alive and you've got to have them in somewhere, surely... Actually kind of excited for the movie side of things. George Lucas has been selling the original Trilogy every few years now with minor changes that annoy. Brand new movies can't be any worse, especially from a company that won't take for granted our loyalty out of the gate. At the beginning, Disney has something to prove so I'm sure they'll spare no expense with the first movies they make. They'll be more apt to do the necessary fan service that's required with movies following the original trilogy, and they MIGHT give some nods to the EU but in the end ... the movies are going to come before those books because they have to. Don't build up ideas in yourself that somehow they'll go with what the books did, there are some good ideas in those I'm sure, but let's not rob ourselves of something new. Try to keep your expectations low and you'll be happy, generally things don't suck on their own... they suck because we've built them up too much to a level they could never reach. On the other hand, Jar Jar sucked.
  21. Yeah but that wasn't LucasArts focusing on it, that was licensing out to the Angry birds folks wasn't it? On the other hand, you've got LucasArts working with the Films section to make 1313. Supposedly what dear leader of Disney said it'll be changing that up to where LucasArts is focusing on social/mobile and licensing out for console games. Which admittedly, in the case of KotoR it works out great, but it just sucks to see them saying they're going to focus on that sort of stuff in house. I was kind of looking forward to their new direction of doing their own games.
  22. *bangs head on desk if true* Someone, quickly... we need a time travel machine and a gun. I can stop this. Seriously though, I know I shouldn't be forcing my views on others, but I hate this mobile gaming bandwagon. Some people want to blame the lack of new IPs solely on the AAA sequels every year but that's not doing it alone. Deep down I just figure we're missing out on the next great thing while they're trying to stock the app store with cheap games. Although they did say they'll be licensing out as they've done in the past for console games, but 1313 felt like a new direction for LucasArts. Then again, it could suck, so who knows. In the news of LucasFilms, new movies funded by Disney can't be any worse than George Lucas releasing the original Trilogy every few years with horrible changes... Nooooooooooooooooooooooo... After all, there's profit to be had. Then again, Joss Whedon and Marvel so it's not like they're completely evil.
  23. I know it's after the Cathar, I got that, what I also got was the person who said no one wants Cathar.
  24. Nobody wants the Cathar? Do you speak for everyone now? Because I want the Cathar. Actually I want a lot of races, and you griping about Cathar because you dislike them is kind of like me griping about ... about... I actually can't think of any Star Wars races I walk around hating, or that I'd be up in arms about them including. Nope, still can't think of anything.
  25. To all the people whining about people whining ... counting the collector's edition and being a subscriber with no interrupts I'm like nearly $350.00 into this game... with no additions to any of my class stories. Don't tell me it's like I'm getting however many games in one, because those class stories make up such a small amount of what's in the game whereas most of the stuff is a lot of grinding through quests I've already done on every single planet if I'm interested in checking out the other class stories. The companion characters, by virtue of every class needing 5 are really one dimensional with nothing but a little bit of conversation for their story. I'm still subscribed at this point because I was leveling up some classes with a friend from 1-50, but on our second time through it's bascially ... wow, boring... to grind through the planetary quests. TOR is awesome as a one time trip through the Republic or Empire, with some value to play through the other of those two choices after you do one. They really pounded the drum on not making the game a grind with no "Kill x number" quests, but after awhile you realize, no they're not making you count, but they've put an entire army between you and each quest goal so that you are killing X number of things. After awhile you just can't hide from it and it annoys you a little bit. A big mistake was on races: Bioware decided that WE wouldn't want non attractive races, additionally they decided WE don't want races that don't speak basic... a lot of us surprisingly can read and we're used to that. For greater variety I'd be willing to read, then again, I love reading anyway. We see this trend continue with the Cathar which I'm looking forward to, but alas... one race out of all the Star Wars races you could add? Just one? I guess we'll have to wait and see if it'll make enough money as a Free to Play store addon before we make more, which is what I'm expecting them to do. Maybe they'll surprise me. Maybe Makeb will be huge and advance class stories and thus, yay... I know I can't expect new voicework every month, but I could see something like every few months extending the story for one of the classes by a couple of chapters. I'd really love to see Bioware cut way back on the non connected side quests and include more substantial story elements that don't feel closed off from one another. To some degree, the origin worlds had a good tighter feel to their stories I think. Anyway, I'm done ranting, have fun, continue with what you're doing, I can't believe I've actually preordered GW2 though... I had no interest in that game until recently. It's kind of sad that I'm looking forward to it but maybe a break from TOR will give them a chance to come up with something new.
