  1. I'm not an Aussie but i think it's BS that you even get the option before anyone else with the way servers are going Server transfers should be de facto at this point.

    Really?

Aussies are beta testing the half-developed character transfer process for us.

Given the potential loss of character data I'm happy to let them do so.

  2. Bioware don't control fansites.

And as for whether they should tell us everything, where's the fun in that? People spent ages working out where to get the Orokeet eggs or where to catch a taun-taun.

I believe they have stated that same sex romances will be on new companions, not added to existing ones. So I don't expect this until they add a new companion to each class.

  3. Or just being a smart company and being pre-emptive about server populations, whether it be a lot or a little, this is always a smart decision.

Or they could be BW and make 10 servers, then 100 when those 10 fill up, then wonder why 80% of their servers are ghost towns..

FYI I agree that some way to bring players together (server merge or character transfer) should have been ready for launch.

But it's worth pointing out that in the early access there were few servers with more added each day and the majority were full to the point of queuing. It's not as if they just randomly decided to have loads of servers.

  4. My log doesnt work for some reason ive turned it on, off and on hoping it fixes but still get no kill or defeat messages. Anyone know what the problem might be?

    There's no ingame combat log.

You enable it ingame then find the text file in your documents folder / library (e.g. mine is in: "C:\Users\**Windows Account Name**\Documents\Star Wars - The Old Republic\CombatLogs")

    :edit:

The file contains data like this:

  5. Dude they have server transfers already implimented. Before release.

BW has had 5+ years and they still don't have that.

Am I still speaking rubbish mate?

Sure, because when I'm deciding if a game is "awesome" I decide it solely on whether they have character transfers available at launch.

    :D

  6. * Posting this here, since Bioware didn't like this question to have its own thread.

Question: Still true? "PvE server - player fights must be agreed to by both sides"

According to the official SWTOR website:

"Player vs. Environment (PvE) - In Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, Player vs. Environment servers serve as the "default." On these servers, you have the option to role-play as your character, and player- vs.- player fights must be agreed to by both sides."

This was violated in the past event. I experienced it first hand. So did the OP of this thread.

Related to recent incidents such as that decribed by the OP, my question to the developers is about PvE server policy. What is your position regarding these reported events, and the implication for your PvE servers?

    1) This is more of a guideline than a rule. It can change, without warning, and the player base will have to adjust accordingly.

    2) This is a rule. Numerous complaints to the contrary, there's insufficient evidence that non-consensual PvP flagging actually occurred. The development team denies that it did.

    3) This is a rule. What happened was a bug. It won't happen again.

There have been multiple complaints, but not one developer response stating any Bioware position on this game-changing exception to the server policy. The previous posts here describe the desirability (or lack thereof) of the OP's incident, but there's no clarity on whether or not it was "working as intended."

This is quite a bit more serious than Ashara's graphics, which seemed to be worthy of a Bioware post. No response is inexplicable, and unforgivable.

It's nothing to do with the event. It's to do with area attacks (including a certain explosive infection) hitting flagged enemies enabling your flag, in the same way that if I targeted a yellow name (flagged enemy) and used a direct attack it would turn on my flag instead of telling me I can't attack them until I manually enable my flag.

  7. ROFL i never looked at the front page of ToR, i never had any USE TO LOOK.

Doesn't matter i will be jumping ship to D3 / Guild Wars 2 anyway, this game has gotten to me and it just keeps going down hill

You don't check official communication methods like forums, dev tracker or website, but it's Bioware's fault that you didn't know?

Perhaps they should have turned up on your doorstep and shouted through your letterbox?

  8. The Rakghoul Plague, well, there was vaccine, so not too bad.

The exploiting of AoE to flag another person is just that, an exploit. Report them for it, names, levels, class, AC, time, place, circumstances, and server, plus your information as well. Forced into PvP while you are questing and fighting a mob, is a cowardly way to "gain" a kill for lowly griefers, and is an exploit that does need to be rectified.

This exploit has been going on for months, or since BETA and or release.

Back on Hoth I was solo questing, attacked a mob with 2 Strong in it, as a tank I used an AoE (Wither) as did Khem, found myself dead ??? and Flagged PvP and saw 4 Republics leaving me. Bad enough I was engaged in a fight, worse they exploited me into PvP mode, worse still it took 4??? of them to kill me with a mob too? (that's why cowards and lowly, and without any honor). As I went around in the tunnels I noticed a lot of other single Imperials lying dead on the ground so it was not just me.

Fix the forced PvP Exploit, Please BW.

    This.

The problem is that using a non-direct targeted ability (i.e. ground target, PBAoE, cone, etc) ability with no pvp flag and having a flagged enemy run into that area will cause you to flag.

The event was just another way to do it, but no more so than by running into an enemies lightning storm . death from above / etc.

  9. If you are talking purely view-point, then you can zoom in.

If you are talking about manual aiming, etc then you need to be able to track every single bullet fired by every single weapon and constantly check to see if it encounters a player or non-player character.

In an MMO environment that's only possible when it's been designed around that kind of system (e.g. Planetside had large-scale real-time combat), it's not something that can easily be added to an existing game.

  10. Like most things of the nature I'd take it on a case-by-case basis. Someone occasionally listing an item or two I would not report. On the other hand I would likely report Killowatt if he was doing what he mentioned.

That's fine then. If you are using frequency as (one of) your criteria then you are talking about reporting for spamming, not for trading on general.

Personally when I do it there is never more than one of my messages on the screen at any one time.

  11. I've put forth no argument for or against reporting, I have no idea where you're pulling this from.

And I never actually said that you did, I asked your opinion on whether all breaches of chat rules should be reported or just some.

  12. Yea, for capital vs capital it would be great, with players or NPC's manning the guns. Smaller ships should work more like JTL

But manning the guns and then just clicking "lock on" and pressing F1 once?

That would be what it is using Eve's combat system.

I'd prefer full control. In fact, some of the early Black Prophecy gameplay includes a small ship and using a turret on a bigger ship, check out the video

    .
  13. The developers were quite clear with their intention for trade spam when they implemented a trade channel. Whether you should flood CS with spam reports is a separate issue.

So what percentage of reportable chat / posts should you actually report?

Just 50% of the gold sellers?

Just 25% of the racist comments?

If you think it's breaking the rules then clearly there's nothing wrong with reporting it.

  14. Would agree with you. JTL is more fitting for SWtoR, EvE might be slightly too complicated. A simplified version maybe. Player/guild created space stations would be awesome as well, where the guild pays for vendors and security and the money generated goes to the guild minus some galactic tax or something.

Eve combat isn't complicated, it's "tactical" instead of "action".

But it's still as simple as clicking a target, clicking lock-on and pressing as many quickbar keys as you want weapons to attack.
