  1. My marauder was level 11 and had been sitting on the fleet since January. I've done only class story ignoring everything else including gathering (already had Synthweaving at 450). I've watched all cut scenes through Nar Shadaa (lvl 25ish) and have had the free 25% complimentary boost up for all quest turn ins. The 10% guild bonus probably helps but I think it's designed to include the 25% bonus a majority of the time. I wouldn't recommend and it wasn't implemented for anyone brand new to the game. You wont have the cash or crafters on alts to support yourself (I'm crafting blue armorings at about levels 20, 30, 40), and you'll end up broke at 55 having missed out on all the early content. Even just doing the planet story is worth it, especially if fairly new. I actually leveled my last alt via planet and class story alone (no 2x-XP) and had plenty of planet comms for self gearing. I realize it's probably difficult right now to find groups for heroics/flashpoints with many running straight through to class story but if you don't have alts to support class leveling you'll have to do some other stuff.
  2. Whether there is open PTS or not, there's always the risk that the earlier one experiences new content the more likely bugs will exist. Therefore the later one experiences new content improves the chances of a bug-free experience. If you're concerned early access is open beta, and you're not a typical beta-tester seeking out bugs I assume you're ok with some people seeing content before you and finding those bugs. Thus, you can always wait until Dec 9, or even later, to maximize the chance you have a bug-free experience.
  3. The way it looks to be done in not bummed. I was never into hybrid abilities and it seems the same customization in passives (now utilities) is possible. Eg choosing amongst different damage reduction passives depending in the fight (eg flat DR, dot DR, DR while stunned) which was important in many fights in DF/DP. I'll have to see how my particular shadow choices are presented.
  4. Subscriber since launch and this is great for me. Only 6/8 ACs and since I level so slowly even in 2x xp I tend to forget what's going on in the class story since I have to do so many side things. Now my level 39 Merc (well 52 now) and 11 Maurader (with 450 synthweaving) get some focused play time where I can focus on the class story. I may repeat some others that I did 2+ years ago and don't really remember without having to suffer all the distractions.
  5. This would be fun! I look forward to seeing how dps off-heals/cleanses, off-taunts, etc. are handled in the new system. Hopefully some of this utility can remain optional.
  6. I queued for HM 55 solo during prime time as dps for the first time ever last week. Expecting a long wait I went to do something else. 30 seconds later queue popped. I was fearful the tank or healer was on the entire server's ignore list (besides me and the two other unlucky folks) since I got a near instant pop. Smooth run all around. Perhaps I just got lucky.
  7. I think the system is great. The only changes I'd make are to reduce the points from crafting and to increase massively the points for killing (and somehow working defending) commanders etc. on the invaded planet. Because that feels like an actual planet conquest, not doing a flashpoint or warzone in some far off part of the universe. I've played since launch and had zero level 50 HM flashpoint achievements except the final boss that came through with my codex. I had done each dozens of times but had no incentive since about July 2012. I've been back in and the nostalgia is great. Great reason to do stuff other than just the most recent content.
  8. OP I've notice the opposite as others have mentioned. Recall te days of Taral V and weaving through adds and skipping the boss with the two cats. I just lay out my intention of doing bonus boss and any achievement bosses at te start and don't mind dropping if someone complains, but that's never actually happened.
  9. OP keep doing what you're doing. No reason to purposefully stand in avoidable AE damage especially if you're with a pug healer and don't know of he/ she can heal well in that scenario. And if mele can't maintain dps with a little movement they'll never do well in many fights in this game. Tell him it's practice for the many movement heavy Op fights.
  10. I've just been zerging it lately but the above was how it was done. Never did the LOS thing because I always failed and ended up having all 4 stacked in the corner. But mechanically the Maurader doesn't have a consistent aggro table, so killing him first is best. The Inquisitor can heal, so killing 2nd there. The other two we tried to burn down evenly since the BH goes nuts with death from above when he's last, and the sniper gets a more powerful snipe I think. If you're going in at original gear level I'd do that strategy.
  11. Those are legacy servers pre-merger that must still exist behind the scenes. And mats will always be relevant. I only craft armorings when I make alts and could for other professions too. They did add usefulness to the alien data cubes, rakata things, etc. that hadn't been used since the days of columi gear.

I didn't read all of this, but looking at your math if they added a unique mechanic where crafting progress on war supplies only counts when one is logged in and further cut the points given by 1/5. This effectively cuts down crafting by 15x (1/5 for raw points and ~33% assuming someone hardcore plays 8 hrs a day). Would bring it down to ~9k similar to the other activities in the example you noted. Apologies if someone already suggested this. Looking at your 42 million though shows something is unbalanced.
  13. So to summarize this thread: Post 1: Shouldn't people be able to specialize as tank or healer in this game? Post 2: You already can in the skill trees Post 3-95: derailed discussion on removing the trinity. To continue, imagine Tyrans and his thundering blast replacing the rancor fight in KP. Right now it's punishing for the tank to aim Tyrans wrong or for a dps to pull threat. With out a tank his damage would have to be lowered so any dps can take it. Make that change and add a dps check and I'm no longer welcome in the fight as a tank. So while it's quite possible to create interesting and challenging non-trinity content, I don't see how removing the trinity all of a sudden opens up a lot of design options that can't also fit in the trinity. Interrupts and telegraph dodges? Check out wildstar which has that and is also a trinity, as well as a few fights here (Draxus, and many with red cires).
  14. Not sure if anyone has noted this, but the sort by unit price is relatively new to GTN. Since it seems to be confusing people, having some level of customization where one could remove certain columns seems a fine solution. Edit: More specifically to the OP's subject, the cents shouldn't be dropped but adding ".00" to per unit prices that are whole numbers would make the presentation consistent.
  15. For #2 would anyone actually be upset that a group enraging on Nefra at 25-35% fell apart? I'm surprised you stuck with it since it's not like that group was getting past Draxus. Groups that fail should break up or otherwise make changes (players, different content), not rack up repair bills indefinitely. Only problem I see if the stealth DC and not "hey this group doesn't have it tonight, I'm out."

  17. OP I don't see this kind of behavior very often in game, but when I do it's on Empire side. Sterotyping I know, but it's my observation. Most of the bad attitudes I see in general are in this forum in the "Weird People..." thread.
  18. I've been sleep deprived for a couple months with a new born baby and haven't confused those two. P.s. that other thread is impressive since it didn't seem to really derail. 75 pages of the same arguments over and over. Granted i only read about every 5th or 10th page after the first few.

  20. I also would like the class role forums reinstated as they were. Mixing tank theorycrafting threads with 1000 versions of "Cant decide, Jugg or Assassin next. Help plz" threads will be bad for the community. Edit: One role forum could suffice. I admit to not visiting the damage and heal ones very much so don't know what discussions were exclusively there vs. the advanced class sub-forums.

  22. The suggestions to improve the system would be a nice QoL improvement. Two options for sorting, pure prestige and highest number of up votes. Doesn't seem too difficult but probably not a huge priority.
  23. I didn't see original Soa game breaking bug, but bugged armor appearance and relic errors don't make you stop playing and wait for it to be fixed. In Wildstar there was a bug where a major tank threat generating ability had a 25+% greater chance to be deflected than it should have had. While bugged you could not hold threat without majorly sacrificing mitigation and had to either swith to dps or stop playing group content. I quit playing altogether even though there we're workarounds. Expected in a new game but still felt game breaking. The bugs I come across here are cute, eg I was in the TFB final fight last night and my character looked like she was in stealth the entire hyper gate phase. Had never seen that before after 2 years of TFB. Cute but not game breaking.
  24. This seems logical if someone is spending the same amount of money as a subscriber just via CC vs sub. No difference to me.
  25. First, congrats on having that much time to play a video game. Second, I don't see why you're getting so upset over a few encryptions going out to smaller guilds if a guild goal were implemented (note, I'm not talking about my guild). Keep the achievement and title to winner only so you can still channel all this video game competitiveness.
