  1. While I do dislike instanced PvP, I must admit that I used to have a blast in AV back in the day. It's a shame the hero engine can never handle something similar.
  2. Agreed. BW would make a huge leap in the right direction if they fired their PvP team and hired you.
  3. FPS's do instanced PvP much, much better than MMO's. In FPS's, you usually get 10+ maps, sometimes even more. Meanwhile, you get many, many different game modes which are often compatible across all maps. In addition, queues are relatively short, often allowing a player to join a new game within a minute of leaving an old one. You get skill based game play (depending upon the FPS) and relatively balanced weapons (as in, I can do well with any gun -- depends upon the FPS). When new maps launch, they often come with many at a time. Again, all of these new maps can play multiple game modes. FPS's are generally free to play after you purchase the game, save for perhaps paid DLC. In MMO's, you get a small handful of poorly designed battlegrounds, extremely long queues (depending upon your server), imbalanced gear based PvP (as opposed to skill based), and imbalanced classes. Furthermore, you only have a handful of game modes. When new game modes/maps launch, it's one or two at a time. You pay for all of this monthly. You also must invest many, many hours to finally get to play end game. Overall, you often have hundreds of map/game mode variations in FPS's. In SWTOR, you have three -- and don't try and sell me that "Empire v Empire void star, Empire v Republic void star, Republic v Republic voidstar" garbage. It's still voidstar, regardless of who's playing in it. I'm supposed to be impressed that TOR is releasing ONE new map that only allows ONE new game mode? I can pick up any FPS and get the same thing, plus a multitude of new variety for cheaper. So why am I paying for an MMO again and not off playing an FPS that clearly destroys MMO's when it comes to instanced PvP? Oh, that's right. I play MMO's for WORLD PVP, which does not exist in any FPS's (if it does, let me know so I can play it). Oh wait. TOR doesn't have any world PvP. It only has instanced PvP. Why am I not playing an FPS?
  4. I eat marauders on my Vanguard. Kitekitekitekite
  5. I roll 4/12/25. I need Blaster Augs in order to grab my Frontline Defense. In shield spec I get 2/3 Intimidation and 2/2 Brutal Impact.
  6. Great idea, but the hero engine can't handle something that complex in such a heavily populated area.
  7. I used Centurion on my Vanguard when I hit 40. At the time I was a -10pt version of Taugrim's ironfist. I continued to use it (with up to date mods/enhancements/armoring) until I hit 50, typically as Assault spec. I picked Centurion over the other one, because if I remember correctly the other one has accuracy and alacrity, which I understand are moreso for casters (ie, commandos?). Also, if I remember correctly, Centurion is more about power, crit, and surge.
  8. I wish that there was no valor cap. I'm level 45 and I don't even have my ship yet, as I've only PvP leveled.
  9. I remember back when I dinged level 50 and opened up my initial 6 bags, along with 6 more from dailies and weeklies and the 1-2 additional I was able to buy from those weeklies and all 13-14 of them gave 3 centurion commendations.
  10. Yet another 18% claiming to represent the 99%.
  11. It's tough to say. On one hand, I believe that forcing reward equality is garbage because if I perform better than you and carry you through the WZ, I should get a bigger piece of the pie than you. At the same time, some classes have an easier time gaining medals than others (ie, healers).
  12. Dear BW and EA, If I had been told that I would cancel my subscription after paying for only one month of game time a year ago, I would have laughed at you. The amount of hype I had for this game was incredible. Alas, you have failed me. World PvP is nonexistent. There's nothing to do at level 50 except grind for PvP gear. After that... well... The stories were fun, but I wish you had spent less money on the fancy voice acting and more on the game play. Most of the game is your standard, basic MMO with a fancy Star Wars theme. I would be alright with that, if other games weren't more polished. That combined with constant downtime during my prime time (due to working during the day all day) has been an immense frustration. I know most of you reading this don't care or are happy another forum troll is gone. I am not posting this for your sake, but rather for BW's sake. I hope this thread will just be another number added onto to the numerous cancellation threads. I want you to get your act together BW. Polish the game, fix the broken classes, implement true PvP and not this Warzone or Ilum crap, and I'll consider coming back. If not, then it was... well, it just was while it lasted.
  13. Tried constructive criticism. The devs don't read the forums. I was a huge fan of this game years before it was released. I still would like to see BW get their **** together and fix this game, but they never will. Entire classes would need to be reworked, planets destroyed, entire mechanics changed. It'd be great to see this happen, but it won't. In short, this has been a gigantic let down that will never be a great MMO. Sure, the PvE story related crap was interesting -- new and entertaining. Besides that, everything else is the same old stuff done poorly. With such a gigantic budget, it's a shame SWTOR is what it is. Perhaps they spent the majority of their budget on voice acting. In the meantime, I won't be able to get a refund and I won't be reimbursed for my time wasted with constant downtime during my prime time, so I'm here on forums making the best of what I paid for by speaking my mind.
  14. Having played both games at launch, Rift's was definitely smoother. If SWTOR was not Star Wars, Rift probably would have more subscribers right now. Don't get me wrong -- I canceled my Rift subscription after a couple of months, but their game was a lot more polished and less buggy.
  15. How can you compare to SWTOR to EQ2? EQ2 was great until SOE ruined it.
  16. How is Rift nowadays? I played it at launch and quit not too long after that.
  17. I would be content with a new server, assuming they fix all of their current garbage. Unfortunately, given the state of the game, that will probably never happen.
