Finally a on spot review of the game. Scored high in my book still but that pretty much said it. Not a good MMO and is pretty much a single player game.

This would have worked alot better as a singleplayer game.
Thorbrand replied to Zykoscheep's topic in General Discussion
News flash this is a single player game with co-op elements made to look like a MMO. MMO is Massive Multiplayer and the last I checked massive isn't a few dozen people on a shard. They made what they made and it is the game the meant to make. It won't succeed as a MMO because of the design. It will be successful when it goes F2P with Item Mall. People who don't like the game have the right to post as much as the fanboi's why do I keep seeing this to be an issue? -
Complaining about endgame IS NOT justifiable.
Thorbrand replied to SnapWolf's topic in General Discussion
If you make a casual MMO with such an easy leveling curve you need to have end game content ready when 80% of the population gets to that point. According to reports this was a 300Million project, I don't believe that at all. Given that kind of money the game should have been bigger than WOW at launch in everyway and not this WOW clone set up like DDO we got to play with. There should be working end game content since you can make lvl 50 in a week with no problems. They failed to meet their promises like anything released since 2004. -
No true Open World PvP in this game and Illum is just dead.
-
I agree to many areas on the maps are exhaustion zones. Where is this large open world? Add in you have to follow set paths to get any where it is said really.
-
SWTOR could have beat WOW but they will not. To much instancing not enough persistant worlds. This alone will have most MMO gamers leaving after the free month. The whole game is a grind and is completely mapped out for you. This is a single player game not a MMO design. If they don't fix the bugs that have been around since the betas they are not going to keep subs also and CSR in this game is very poor for a launch.
-
This is someone who sees the game for what it is. It isn't a MMO it is a single player game with some co-op elements. MMO it isn't close to being, all instanced and small population on the shards take away the massively part pretty quickly.

BW has a very poor infastruture set up. Anyone who has gamed for years and see that they made a lot of stardard mistakes in setting up their enviroment. The issues with this game are decades old and have been a non-issue for sometime. Also, the OP is right given that this game it completely instanced in everyway, more so than even DDO, it should run on a smart phone. No these graphics are no better than WOW, they are 2004 graphics in the MMO gen.
-
They made it so when you made the choice you knew it couldn't change instead of having the ability to change it.

I would play any game before SWTOR: Even WOW and I hate that game. Waiting for: Dominus , Planetside 2 and The Secret World. What I am playing until that time? Skyrim and Saint's Row!

The importance of a strong server community
Thorbrand replied to MeUtinni's topic in General Discussion
That was the best. Don't forget they will be merging soon anyway. -
Even on the PvE servers Illum is PvP flagged so when Open World happens on Illum you still get that experience on any server. Like some have said there is no difference between PvP and PvE except the type of people playing on them.
-
None of them are really hard to get just take time to figure out. The only thing in the game that is actually interesting is getting the datacrons because there is a little challenge to getting them all. I can see them making it easier however bacause there is a challenge to it and that is the way the game is designed (Easy Mode).

CHOICE IS AN ILLUSION - not an RPG - MMO on rails
Thorbrand replied to al_giordino's topic in General Discussion
The OP is right. Choice means nothing in the game and has no impact on anything outside of LS/DS points. Also, MMO it is not since Massively is more than a few dozen people on a shard. -
Please don't QQ about the large zones!
Thorbrand replied to LocalBulkCruiser's topic in General Discussion
They are not large just a lot of open empty space. If you think zone in SWTOR are large you haven't played many MMOs. -
Do you think story is really what MMO players want?
Thorbrand replied to SnoopyDoo's topic in General Discussion
No story isn't want a MMO needs because in a MMO you make your own story. Stories are good for single player games and if BW wants to do stories they really need to step it up because these static stories they gave us are a waste of time. Instancing needs to be removed, need larger worlds and more indepth FPs/OPs! These world bosses are a joke also. -
And here is my few reasons to quit (yeah, yeah, another one thread)
Thorbrand replied to vymm's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much done with the game myself. A lot to do with the game is just broke and not really a MMO. Voice Acting needs to be removed unless they make the stories a lot indepth and dynamic than what they got now. Been in beta have yet to see any major issue fixed and not removed instead. Don't expect their patch to be worth a damn. -
Why are so many people saying this game is bad?
Thorbrand replied to KingFastrod's topic in General Discussion
It is bad for an MMO. Would be a great single player game with more into the story lines. Why it is bad? Bugs! This game has more issues and even EQ at launch. Voice Acting doesn't belong in a MMO. Waste time that means nothing. Graphics are horde for this gen. No customization! Everyone is a clone at 50. Crafting is only good 1-49. Moddable gear is only good 1-49. Ablity delay. All instance! Every zone every dungeon is instance and even that the servers can't handle the load. This use to be the bane of a MMO now this game it is accepted. Look at DDO all instance, failed because of this, but thier dungeons are far more indepth than what we have from BW. They half assed every part of this game! -
So what happened to the game being fully voiced?
Thorbrand replied to SoulstitchMMO's topic in General Discussion
I vote remove all the voice acting from the game and let me play the MMO how I want. -
LOL...The only real exploration in the game and it is a bad idea...I don't know what business model you use for designing a MMO but it is a bad idea.
-
Interesting since I have worked my whole time playing MMOs and even got a degree/w job while being able to stay top of my favorite MMOs. Some of us want a challenge when gaming not wasted time in easy mode.
-
1/10 Just a F2P game that has been over hyped and has very little for any MMO gamer. It would have made a pretty good single player game with some work on the story archs.
-
NO quest logs you had to write your own to know what was going on...And find the location yourself by knowing the world around you. And who said we didn't like it because that was the best communities in MMOs. People had friends and played a lot together for hours on end. You had to know people to play the game. Everyone was pretty much friendly and fun to be around.
