  1. Right, now take into account how many MILLIONS of credits and how many WEEKS (or even months if unlucky) of missions/crafting time you'd have to spend to acquire all those patterns to fully deck out a tank. So instead of saying crafting is useless I'll put it another way: IT'S NOT WORTH IT. Gain vs Effort (time/cost) is totally out of whack.
  2. Ok, once you've crafted your BoP pieces crafting is useless at lvl50. At least Synthweaving and Armormech are. Also the rakata earpieces are better than the Cybertech stuff and can be had for 120 daily tokens by everybody (that is less than 10days worth of dailies if you do them all, and you will be MAKING credits instead of spending them, not to mention the other benefits). Unless you can get better by reverse engineering purples (dunno, can't say I care with the current RE procrate), but the reward/effort ratio makes it just not worth it, I reverse engineered 60blue belts (20+min/piece to make, not mentioning the insane amount of mats required) yesterday and got 0 purple schematics (this is just one example, I've REd so much and got zilch for it that it's no longer funny) and even IF you get a purple schematic chances are VERY big it will be a useless one. I don't even want to start considering having to do the same with the purples... Not to mention then having to crit craft an item that expensive/time consuming. In fact, I'd posit the armoring professions are useless even while leveling, the amount of RE you need to do to acquire one blue item means that by the time you finally acquire a purple pattern you've moved on a few levels making the item you just got useless. Keeping companion's gear up-to-date is probably the biggest use for them and the few instances where you actually manage to get a green or blue schematic that's better than whatever you got from quests/tokens. So yeah sure, in theory you can make very good gear, in practice you'll probably be able to acquire much better much easier and MUCH cheaper from flashpoints, vendors or operations. The only reason I buy any mods is to put in companions' gear, and I certainly won't be spending 25K/mod on those anytime soon, just green mods until I have leftover daily tokens so I can get the ones I use a lot decked out with lvl22-23 purple mods.
  3. It's an orange item. So dropped schematic. There are no orange gear patterns on the synthweaving trainer at all.
  4. Then we're back to crafting being useless I guess. The entry level normal mode raids are so easy compared to the effort required to collect some decent craftable items (either from acquiring patterns somehow or from, even worse, reverse engineering) that it makes no sense to spend any credits on it. Just craft the rakata belt/bracers as synthweaver and ignore the profession after that. Anything else you could possibly need you can get on Illum by doing the dailies for a while (hell, most armor mods can be gotten by doing a week's worth of heroic dailies, only thing you'd have to buy is the barrel(s)/hilt(s)). Most craftable gear looks worse than the equivalent you can get from flashpoints or even vendors (other colors, it usually seems to be grey and white for crafted gear...). On top of that it's easier to acquire (in my case I can just run The Foundry a few times, which I can do solo now at lvl50...and is way faster than the other ways of acquiring gear, barring just buying it off the GTN) after that it's pretty much a useless profession.
  5. I was a max level Carpenter (amont others) in EverQuest 2 with as good as all obtainable items to craft, so before insulting someone at least make sure you have a clue about what you're talking about.
  6. 1.1 isn't out yet, it's on the test server. Though it seems the mod stuff has been pulled form that patch (if it was ever in in the first place). The stuff you're referring to is in the 1.0.2d patch that was pushed to the servers yesterday. Either way, if these fixes gets pushed back to march or later I dunno if I'm sticking around, it took them 2 weeks to take out the feature near the end of the beta, should be fast to put it back in once they thought it through. For the record: dev post.
  7. Agreed, I'm just stockpiling crafting mats until I see a mention about a fix in the patchnotes (or here, of course...)
  8. While you can't really convert her I think it makes her more interesting. Even so her preferences aren't LS options, I've had her approve of quite a few dark side options as well. The thing with Ashara is that she like rational decisions, decisive action and making sure what you're heading into. Just blindly storming some fortress won't gain approval with Ashara (probably will with Khem and Xalek though), asking about the defenses and THEN storming the fortress is something that probably WILL gain approval with Ashara. Destroying your enemies also tends to get her approval, randomly murdering innocents not so much. However not all her rep gains seem to be consistent, there's this Sith Lord on Belsavis that tries to boss my DARTH around and she approves of being nice and subservient (which doesn't seem to make sense to me as usually she approves of standing on your worth, something she DOES do in another daily quest later on the same planet)... Anyway, if you want to gain quite a bit of affection with her picking the right answers during the Belsavis dailies is a really great way to gain quite a bit of affection with her (I think I get around 400-500 each time I go through there)
  9. They will be removable come 1.1. I don't see the issue with orange gear becoming the best in the game. Otherwise synthweavers/armormechs become redundant as there's no reason at all to buy anything from them since you can upgrade #random_token_set to the very highest level...and face it, most of the synthweaved oranges look like garbage compared to the ones you can get with tokens or from flashpoints.
  10. Some just play A LOT. It happens. Fact is that there is a lot to fix and not all of it only affects level 50 characters. Mainly looking forward to the next big patch which ought to fix the mod system if they stick to what they promised us anyway.
  11. This better be a bug then, and as such, fixed.
  12. The new schematic on RE chance seems to have plummeted since about the same time they nerfed Slicing.
  13. People have posted screenshots of orange gear with augment slots though. So either the chance of it happening is so insanely low as to not be worth it. Or the screenshots are fake/from an old game build. Seeing how messed up some of the proc rates are I'm not ruling out option No1.
  14. I take it nobody knows? (or this topic ended up on page 20 in 5seconds flat...)
  15. Yup, reading the dialog that pops up when you get to pick your legacy would of course have told you this
  16. No real opinion on this, as long as they don't do stupid things like make a heavy armor dancer outfit or slave bikini or somesuch. This has been suggested over and over again since they messed up the mod system in beta and will be addressed in patch 1.2 (purples will be fully moddable again, set bonuses transferable, etc). Critically crafted orange gear will be the best gear there is come 1.2. I just hope they up the crit chance on crafts/disassembles because right now acquiring critically crafted orange gear is nigh impossible and getting new schematics from disassembling is barely worth the cost.
  17. It seems there is still a lot of confusion about what each gear level means. There is no reason for purple gear to be better than oranges. None. At. All. It's all in the mods, put purple mods in your orange gear and it'll be just as good as your purple, oh, and if you like the look you can stick with it. This is intentional, it's the same with Normal mode raids. If you want a challange you need the hard modes. Normal modes are for the casual player and anyone with some MMO experience can do most of them with their eyes closed.
  18. That more or less was my experience with my first (and only) run of this instance, except that we had a bunch of at least semi-experienced people that managed to not "stand in the fire (or rockets)" on the last boss so we just killed him easily. Although the red target markers on a brown (?) underground were terribly hard to see so we probably spent more time on him that we should as we probably ran around more than we really should have. The first turrets (we didn't do the fire inward thing, it's still doable, but effin' hard) and the knockbacks in the maze were by far the hardest here (and trying to explain how the maze worked to the rest once I figured it out, but at least that didn't kill anybody ).
  19. Same issue here. Even worse, I dropped all my quests to try and get around it and ofc forgot to have the daily shared as we were kinda relieved when we got in after like 40min trying so I missed out on that too. I didn't even bother contacting support, they're useless anyway (NONE of my tickets have ever had a useful answer). I'm getting fed up at a very rapid pace now.
  20. They explode on a timer or possibly after having traveled a certain distance or a combination of both, there's not much point trying to dps them down, there's no way you could kill them before they blow up by themselves no matter how geared you are. Just dodge and nuke the boss.
  21. I can't for the life of me figure out where to get the Anointed Nanosilk Vestments, I assumed it would have been a (heroic) quest reward on Corellia as the rest of the set can be acquired there but I've completed every single quest on Corellia that I could find and I have like every other piece of the set except for the chest. Does anyone have any idea where to get it? Darthhater, Torhead nor Google seem to be of any help...
  22. Eh, you all realize that you can get an armoring mod that's as good as what a Cybertech can make for free by doing a daily heroic quest? Assuming you have fully moddable armor doing this quest 7 times will have you fully kitted out. On top of that you EARN about 20k or so per quest instead of having to spend that amount... The same goes for most other mod types. Really Cybertech isn't exactly the profession that's in the best shape at max level. As for synthweaving being useless at lvl50, I made myself a belt + bracers that are quite a bit better than the hard mode set (Columni?) and apparently we should be able to crit on orange gear too (on top of being able to crit all other gear types) resulting in gear with an extra augment slot which is pretty much superior to everything out there (especially once BioWare unlocks the armor slot on raid purples again and makes set bonuses transferrable to your own gear) If anything the uselesness of synthweaving (and probably also armormech, besides the fact that there's just way more Force users so bigger market for Synthweavers) is more due to the proc chance of getting new patterns from RE or getting an augment slot on gear you care about (purple and orange) being so stupidly low as to make it not worth it not because of what the profession can/should provide. And concerning the spaceship mods, I dunno who could afford to pay 50k/mod before lvl50 for marginally more xp (compared to the cost) but I don't know any people that have that much credits to throw around while leveling, and by the time they do they really don't need the extra xp anymore, this might change once the Legacy system is put into place but right now Legacy XP is pretty much useless at lvl50 and since that's all the bonus objectives seem to add to a quest...
  23. The daily quests on Belsavis also give quite a bit of companion affection if you play your cards right. Haven't noticed any affection gain/loss from the ones on Illum though (the 3 that aren't broken so they can't be completed anyway...) Also anecdotal but Ashara seems to crit a lot more often on crafts now that her affection is higher. Of course, could still be RNG...
  24. Afaik EverQuest 2 allowed players to pick their region and still has maintenance at different times for US and EU. Been a while since I played though.
  25. Hardcore raider <> min-maxing idiot. Having been a member of the former for years I resent being lumped in with the latter.
