  1. Asking before starting such an obnoxiously long and uninterruptible process would be the least they could do.
  2. Quoting for total agreement. Someone actually asked me if (s)he could have mine (aside from the fact that I'm attached to it it' s also bound). It seems obvious that people miss these items and I cannot fathom why Bioware would even consider removing them.
  3. Those should be the default rules, they sure were back in TBC in WoW and violating them on purpose would just get you banned from groups (and sooner or later: guilds) on the realm real fast. Exceptions were made, if agreed upon beforehand. Alas, things certainly seem to have gone downhill since then. Being able to only need on class gear would be a nice start. Back in the day (iow, when I dinged 50 in januari last year) it was proposed to bind "need" to your class (and specialisation) and add a "companion need" (or greed) button (on top of the regular "I don't care about this item but it's another 7k credits and I'm space poor" greed button. But since nothing has happened in a year it should be pretty obvious that EAWare doesn't care.
  4. Darth, I also seem to remember the one you used to get upon completing Korriban was pretty cool, still bummed it got removed after beta. Oh well.
  5. Frankly the game is just too similar to WoW. It's not that it's bad or better or worse than WoW. It's just that there are just too many out there that are the same. For me once I hit 50 and ran out of stuff to do we started raiding and we started hitting the bugs, eventually people just started quitting and when our Main Tank threw in the towel the guild just...died. It wasn't disbanded, people didn't leave it just...faded away. People just stopped logging in one by one. Some might have gone back to whatever they played before that, some might still be looking for a killer-MMO that brings actual change, without being TOO different from the tried and true EverQuest formula popularised by WoW. Personally I was planning on sitting it out until 1.2 and then trying to kick things off again, but tbh, I don't really have much motivation to do so. Take away SWToR's story and you have another WoW clone, and not necessarily one that is that good either. The story is what made this game, what sucked me and so many others in, and then we got to that final confrontation and then...then what? Flashpoints? Operations? Been there, done that. PvP? Don't care. So what then? Crafting? Hah! Trading? I thought not... Exploring? Exploring what, exactly? Maybe 1.2 fixed all that. But I, and many many others if the dead-ness of my server last few times I logged on is an indication, have moved on. The game was released too early with too little to keep people engaged and with vital parts missing. Now I have no (active) guild anymore so the chances of me starting to play again for any amount of time are very slim and really, I think this is the case for many players that have seen their share of MMOs prior to landing here. EA killed this game by releasing too early and by having the hubris of thinking they could beat Blizzard's decade old experience in keeping people engaged just by throwing more money at it. Any game that wants a serious chance at being the "next best thing in MMOs" is going to have to take risks and find a new take on MMOs, one that resounds with the masses of players. Trying to copy something and add a bell or whistle here or there is not cutting it, as Rift found out, as Age of Conan found out, as SWToR found out. None of these games failed per-se but none of them are different enough from each other to keep people engaged in the long run.
  6. Well, that was the last straw. Account cancelled. Since I signed on for 6month that gives them quite some time to get their **** in order, but it seems that this is the only way to get a message across to such a bunch of greedy US-centric people. EVE is looking like fun btw, never checked it out before as I figured it was nothing for me, maybe I should re-evaluate my stance on that now, even though I'm still in the tutorials.
  7. Agree with the OP, hard enrages are a sign of uninspired/lazy boss design. It has nothing to do with difficulty and everything with every single boss being a boring dps race instead of an actual challenge due to the boss' mechanics.
  8. That's because they're low level crafts. The proc rate has always been way higher on those. Max out your crafting and then we'll talk again. I procced 7 patterns (blue and purple) on my lvl16 character yesterday (armstech, fwiw), that means nothing and tells nothing about the proc rates later on, which are atrocious at 400 crafting for max level patterns. Also the reason I say the proc rates are lower is because I was done leveling my professions weeks ago, so I've been sitting at this level for quite a while (iow I've got a ground for comparison). It might be RNG but I don't believe in unlucky streaks of weeks for this many people.

Well yes, afaiu there's no actual need for a Lethality Operative to require melee if the debuff is profided by something else than Shiv (which, from what I can gather is the only reason to get in melee range, though some of the other abilities have a rather short range as well, though not that short). From my experience so far it just feels awkward to have this weird mix of ranges that abilities can be used on. But maybe I'm just not getting it so far. For questing I don't much mind having to go in and stab stuff (I've raided on a rogue for a while in WoW) and maybe it works better than I expect in flashpoints, only one way to find out I guess... Having the option to not be forced into melee would be nice though, if only because there's a surplus of melee in our guild as is (and judging by the amount of Marauders out there I expect it to not just be ours). It's also probably important to note that most healer mains won't be interested in having a melee build as offspec, something that would also (in limited part) explain the lack of operatives out there (mercs and sorcerers all have viable, to say the least, ranged offspecs). This last point is of course just based on my personal experience with people that roll healer mains and maybe I just only run into weird people As for picking another healing class, the main thing that drew me to the Operative were the HoTs, I played a Warden in EQ2 for quite a while. Wardens have this nice ability to be perfectly viable (depending on who you ask...) as melee or ranged dps as well, then again, you get 300 "talent points" to play with in EQ2 allowing for a tad more variety in builds than most other MMOs. Anyway, I'm not asking for the class to be changed, obviously, it's not like I have enough experience with it to make any sort of judgement yet. If they intended to have this one melee ability in between all these (short) range abilities then I guess there's a reason for it. All imho of course.
  10. You must not play chess Even if you know where you want to enter the market you still need a huge amount of luck to get whatever item you want to sell. Been trying for weeks to get a certain belt, there's not much tactics or skill involved. Only effort, effort in grinding out the cash I need to run missions and buy the mats I need from the vendor. I don't have much more to say about this, I'm a crafter AND a raider, always have been but crafting in ToR is just annoying.

  12. Well, it feels like a game of slots or so for sure. It might be fun for some, personally I prefer the likes of chess, a game where skill, effort and tactics actually make a difference in the outcome instead of pure luck.
  13. As I see it with Operative it's more like "I'm a resto druid but I want to be a boomkin, but I only have the choice between an assassination rogue and a combat rogue.", it makes no sense. Most healers really don't want a melee spec as only option when they can't or don't want to heal. Either way if they allow this it should be something you can't just do whenever the fancy strikes you.
  14. It's not worth it in the sense that recouping the time and money spent RE-ing is barely possible for quite a few professions. It's also not worth it since you can just get better gear faster without having to spend money if you're a crafter by just doing the goddamn dailies. Is this so hard to grok? On top of that the few parts that are supposed to be sellable (as there's no easy to acquire alternative, iow belts and to a lesser extent bracers since there's no craftable moddable versions of those and the can't get bought with tokens) barely sell and certainly don't sell well enough to make a "profit". And oh yes, the raid drop schematics require special epic BoP mats only found in certain HM flashpoints (or possibly HM raids, not done any of those yet so dunno). So acquiring those is another layer of randomness on top of all the randomness already in crafting. There's no reward vs effort ratio in crafting, it's all just a pure luck based grind. If you're lucky you get all the schematics you want in a day, if you're unlucky it'll take you months. Luck to RE the stuff you want, luck to crit craft that stuff once you get it, luck to get the right mats returned from a crew skill mission, luck to win the pattern in a raid, luck to win the mats in a HM FP.
  15. I'm selling bracers and belts on my server. Apparently tankassins don't buy gear. The Juggernaut stuff sells relatively well though. I'm saying relatively because the amount I manage to sell and the prices I can sell it for isn't enough to speak of actually "making money" (one belt every 2-3 days for Juggernauts, 1/week for 'sins if lucky). At this pace I might recoup my expenses for getting these schematics in 4months or so. I can't even consider actually making a decent living on this trade.
  16. The OP is partially right. Normal Operations are piss easy, but the HM Flashpoints; well they are an entirely different matter and some take aeons to clear. Often only to find out that your current setup or gear doesn't allow you to kill the last boss (while not having any trouble with anything before that point) resulting in a net waste of time. Oh, and if HM Flashpoints are so easy, take off your "leet" gear and go in there with lvl50 gear for your entire group, with blue mods, you know, the stuff PvE-ers start out in. Even a few pieces of Columni or similar level PvP gear makes a HUGE difference for doing HM FPs.
  17. Not really, base class respec would be next to impossible as you'd lose the entire storyline and all decisions your character has made etc. I doubt this will ever happen. AC respec is just swapping out an ability tree and wouldn't be all that much harder than a regular respec. The "worst" that could happen is that you could no longer wear your gear (eg. swapping from a Juggernaut to a Marauder or heavy -> medium armor) which people should be aware of. I didn't see the point of switching ACs much until I rolled an Agent, I was really torn between going Operative or Sniper (for PvE, haven't bothered with PvP at all yet on none of my characters so /care about the nerf) as I don't like being forced in melee as the DPS Operative is (in both DPS specs) and I'm afraid I might not enjoy healing, which would force me to reroll the entire character just to make a Sniper only to go through the same stuff AGAIN...
  18. The reason people don't buy anything from the GTN is because unlike the few vocal ones on here most people struggle to make ends meet. Doing all dailies nets you around 120k. A full repair is somewhere between 35k and 50k (35k being the low end, iow if your gear's crap). Assuming you're not some pro group you'll have one or two such repair bills doing HM FPs (BT really doesn't count), this will probably go down as the bugginess of flashpoints goes down, but w/e. If you raid you'll get a bunch of these bills as well. Add to this crafting costs and no other good way to generate income outside of dailies and most people are VERY stingy with their credits. I manage to keep my cash around 500k. Barely. I fear the day (which will be soon) when we start on actually hard content. The difference in quality between what I can acquire for free (or minimal effort) and what I can get from the GTN just doesn't justify the money spent.
  19. 120 daily tokens gets you a rakata earpiece if I'm not mistaken, I guess the reason they sell is because people either don't realize it or don't have the patience to get those 120 tokens (which is only about a week's worth of dailies really)
  20. As a dps sorcerer I take offense to that, I finished all class quests just fine with Khem Val. Interrupts and bubble are the name of the game. I only use Talos now to do heroics when our group doesn't have a healer.
  21. Agreed, Thanaton isn't that hard if you use your interrupts. But the planet quest guy is pretty much impossible to solo.
  22. Either your information is wrong or the patch broke something unintentionally. Either way I'll take this as a conformation of my growing belief that high-level crafting is a waste of time/credits. Thanks for at least saving me any further effort in that direction.

After about 200blue (synthweaving) belts and only getting one (useless) schematic and not having had any crit crafts the entire week I'm throwing in the towel and forcing myself to stay the hell away from crafting for RE until it gets fixed preferably with an apology. I'll craft and sell what purples I got and that's it. I've already spent way too much on this broken system.
  24. If by dedicated you mean "stupid" I agree. I'm still trying to RE a blue belt to get a purple one after WEEKS with no success at all only because I'm too stupid (or stubborn) to give up. Crafting is a useless black pit you can keep on throwing money in for little to no result. I swear the next time I see the "schematic already known" message I'll break my keyboard. Of course by now my gear's better than anything I could reasonably craft (and puh-leese if my proc chance on blue gear is any indication purples with augment slots don't fall under "reasonable") and getting anything sold for a price worth the effort is a horror as well even though I seem to be the only one selling these items on my server (for a more than reasonable price). I don't. I don't mind having to work for my crafting (I was a pretty active tradeskiller in EQ2 and most every MMO I played) but this system is just stupidly random. A masochist might think it fun, alas I'm not that masochistic just yet. I'd rather grind mobs in Blade's Edge Mountains for a week than deal with this stupid crap. At least I'd MAKE money doing so not lose hundreds of thousands that are hard to recoup since there's no market (partly because nobody wants to deal with the GTN, for which I can't blame anyone really, that thing SUCKS) Anyway, don't take anything I said personal, it's all just my opinion but I'm beyond fed up with the current state of (max level) crafting.
