  1. So just going around Torhead and looking at each classes trees, messing around and trying different builds it's apparent that some talents are beyond useless and others are so damn boring that putting in points is very underwhelming.

Go to http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc and try some yourself. Leveling has always been fun because not only do you get new skills but also new points to uncover new power in your tree. Not here though.

    Here are some examples:

    Bounty Hunter (PowerTech):

Power Armor: Reduces all damage taken by 2%.

...and that's it. LOL a whopping 2%! Four years of development time and you have this...:(

Intimidation: Increases damage done by all fire effects by 2% per point. (3 points max)

Rail Loaders: Increases damage done by Rail Shot by 2% per point. (3 points max)

Steely Resolve: Increases Aim by 3%. (3 points max).

Rebraced Armor: Increase armor rating by 8%. (2 points max)

Every class and all their trees have this. It couldn't be more bland, boring and unimaginative. Why didn't you go all out with these talents? It's 2012, there are plenty of MMOs who have this structure why'd you decide to use it and make it even MORE boring? Your talent trees can be summed up as such:

Reduces/increases by 'x' percent (with the occasional) cannot be triggered more than once every 'y' seconds.

Are you guys seriously not that creative? Can you not come up, in four years mind you with fun, interesting and exciting talents? How about:

Power Armor: Upon taking damage has a chance to reflect an attack directly back at the attacker.

Intimidation: If a target engulfed with your fire effect comes within 5 meters of a friendly target, the friendly target will become engulfed in your fire effect.

This just screams awesome, fun and original. Not hard to come up with this stuff. I'm doing it while eating Cheetos with my other hand. Here another one for you:

Rail Loaders: If your Rail Shot crits it'll disarm the target for 2 seconds.

This can be done with every class. Basically what I'm saying is these talent trees are about as inspiring as a dead moth. Every class could have had that "Whoa that's bada**!" But instead we are left with this percentage based bland gray tree. Did you really think that the VOs were going to be enough to carry your title? I think you're going to be sadly mistaken. If you ever get another shot at MMOs due try to learn from your mistakes.

  2. Does it matter? Windows 8 is not ready for primetime even if they a going to release it in the Fall. They are saying windows 8 is going to go the way of Vista. No good reason to upgrade to it.

Does SWTOR even play in WIndows 8?

Just in the market for a new PC and want to look at the purchase as an investment. If the AMD performs better than the Intel counterpart then I'll purchase it now even if it's W7 numbers are not great but it's W8 numbers are much better.

So I just came back from researching this and apparently the AMD will have a performance gain but still be left in the dust to the Intel core i5, the i7 just puts the hurtin on the AMD. I guess that answers my question.

  3. For the record I play an Imperial Agent Sniper - Lethality.

I have a Powertech who is only level 19 at the moment and I truly believe to design a class around one friggin skill is short bus retarded.

    BUT:

It's really Bioware's fault for designing the class this way. The tree couldn't have been more linear, boring and un-creative. In all honesty though the players are playing the spec to it's optimal ability. I went over to Torhead to build a Mercenary tree and the entire tree essentially promotes tracer missile spam. Here let me show each skill and how it affects tracer missile:

Firstly let's see what Tracer Missile is:

Tracer Missile (Level 20 talent): Launches a missile at the target that deals 827 kinetic damage and applies a heat signature reducing the armor rating by 4% for 15 seconds. Stacks up to 5 times. Heat signatures leaves the target vulnerable to Rail Shot.

Now that we know what it does lets take a look at how it's improved in the Arsenal Tree:

Mandalorian Iron Warheads: Increases the damage dealt by all missiles and Power Shot by 6%.

Muzzle Fluting: Reduces the heat cost of Power Shot and Tracer Missile by 9.

Stabilizers: Reduces the pushback suffered while activating Power Shot, Concussion Missile, Tracer Missile and Unload by 75%.

Power Barrier: Power Shot and Tracer Missile have a 100% chance to generate a Power Barrier that reduces damage taken by 2% for 15 seconds. Stacks up to 5 times.

Terminal Velocity: While High Velocity Gas Cylinder is active, critical hits with missiles and Unload have a 100% chance to vent 8 heat. This effect cannot occur more than once every 3 seconds.

Light 'Em Up: Tracer Missile now applies an additional heat signature.

Tracer Lock: Tracer Missile grants Target Lock, increasing the damage dealt by the next Rail Shot by 6%. Stacks up to 5 times.

Barrage: Power Shot and Tracer Missile have a 30% chance to finish the cooldown on Unload and increase the damage dealt by the next Unload by 25%. This effect cannot occur more than once every 6 seconds.

So aside from the most UN-imaginative tree (Can sum the tree up as <increase x damage by y percent. Tracer Missile spam, this effect cannot occur more than z seconds.) this is actually intended and working as designed. So for those complaining that it's one skill it'll be pretty close to impossible for Bioware to nerf that skill. If they nerf Tracer Missile the entire tree is garbage. You essentially can't have all these talents surround one skill then nerf that skill. So gg and lets all welcome our new facerolling Tracer Missile spamming overlords.

  4. So, go back to WoW or Rift.

Stop complaining, go do what you enjoy doing.

Why don't you stop and possibly go do what you enjoy which clearly isn't being on the forums? This place is a source of communication with SWTOR being the central theme of topic. One out of the many different topics being discussed is issues with the game. Have you ever stopped to think maybe some of us here enjoy the game but would like to see certain issues addressed?

Will every post addressing concerns be met with the cliche "Go back to <insert MMO here>"?

This tribalism can get rather ridiculous.

To the OP, that was a very constructive post and I offer my free bump!

  5. As title, what exactly does it do.

Does it increase the expertise you allready have by 15% (doubt that, since only lvl 50 have expertise).

Does it give you 15% Expertise, aka 15% dmg/dmg reduction/healing?

Also, If it increase dmg by 15% then it is a much bigger dmg increase then a Raktata adrenal isnt it? Does it increase dmg before or after the bonus dmg from a power Relic is added?

It increases your expertise by an additional 15%. Expertise is a stat for pvp and I believe it reduces damage from other players and increases the damage you do. So if you have 0 expertise and you get the pvp buff you now have 15%, if you have 5% you now have 20%...at least this is how I believe it works.

Also I do remember people with high amounts of expertise would get the pvp buff and the adrena. This would lead to them annihilating others.

  6. Am I the only one who thinks giving a class a skill which turns them invisible was completely underwear-over-pants retarded? Who came up with the bright idea to let a class walk around completely invisible? Then you get hit by one and you're face down *** up on the ground for a couple of seconds. Kicker is when things don't go their way they just poof disappear into the air! Like magicians! :(
  7. You know what I love better then rant threads? People who think that their opinions are fact, but in actuality are far from that.

Besides Biochem and possibly Cybertech the rest crew skills are indeed pointless. Noone buys them on the GTN and they get replaced by commedation/flashpoint gear so fast. Found myself crafting stuff just to have an appropriate crew skill level. When I found I used essentially none of my crafted items switched to Biochem and never looked back.

  8. If you guys are that interested in numbers, WoW's investor call is February 8th 2012. They've experienced three straight quarters of subscription declines. Will be interesting to see if they've experienced another decline or if they've somehow managed to pull back up. Also with this 1.7 million subscribers how much of an impact did it have on WoW.

    Purely number speculation of course.

  9. Just wondering if this is how it's going to be. When I mount and it gets to 0.0 (meaning activation is done) I move forward but the screen freezes for a split second and I don't mount. Also when I heal and the activation gets to 0.0 I start moving forward thinking it's done but I didn't heal.

Do I have to wait for the animation to finish, this a bug or working as intended?
