  1. Anything involving a HUMAN element is not accurately predictable with math.
  2. And the park obviously doesn't know what they are doing since they allowed the Tornado to happen! They owe me a new basket and tablecloth!
  3. Not trying to argue, but can't you create a chat tab with just your RP group so the messages don't get lost in the shuffle? Couldn't you follow it that way? There ARE server forums, aren't there? Or is it just for guild recruitment? They aren't "punishing" you. This is the kind of over-dramatization that makes these discussions useless. I can understand the frustrations of not being able to play on a populated server yet, but maybe you aren't even TRYING to look at it from their point of view. Not to defend them completely, but they HAVE to come up with a completely different solution for you guys and no matter what they choose, at least HALF of the RP community is going to be unsatisfied. If they allow you open transfers to wherever you want to go (Some want to go from RP-PvP to regular PvP and some want to got to RP-PvE), then they are going to have to justify not allowing those types of transfers to EVERYBODY. Now while I think these choices SHOULD have been made up front, they didn't. My idea was that if they weren't going to do straight up server merges, they should have made one of each of these available in each area: PvP Server PvE Server RP-PvP Server RP-PvE Server And allow the origin server to choose where they want to go, this way each subscriber could merge their characters onto the same server and even switch play types if they wanted to. They tried to do some kind of free transfer that worked in exactly the same way that a server merge would have worked, but left it up to individual choice of whether or not to move. This seems to result in some kind of limbo server for people who have either left the game, abandoned those characters or haven't decided to move yet. This choice leaves it up in the air that someone who may not have played for several weeks may come back and want to transfer, so they can't calculate that person into the server population when they allow new servers to transfer there. No matter what, SOMEONE was going to be furious and they chose this particular path. Not what I would have thought was the most logical choice, but I'm not in their meetings so I'm not sure what justified it to them. I don't presume to know Just look at the forums. There are complaints of not enough people to play with to TOO MANY people to play with (causing server lag, etc), to no more transfers allowed while they monitor how the populations are going to fill out (Not everyone on a origin server has accepted their free transfer, so if they allow more transfers to that server, they may severely overpopulate). The whole thing is blowing up on them (justified or not). I get that, but the game companies can't create role-players. If the role playing community isn't large enough to warrant it's own server, then we may need to accept the possibility that these types of games don't lend themselves that well to RP. But The game itself can't force anyone to play RP if they don't want to or enjoy RP if they don't like it. It's like your asking them to give you a discounted rate if the other players won't RP with you. I'm not sure how that would work.
  4. Are you able to elaborate on what your monitoring for those who are currently left out? I'm assuming it's because the servers that have already been chosen are OPEN for transfers, but not everyone on that server has yet taken the option to do so, therefore it's unknown exactly how crowded that server MAY become? Also, not everyone pays attention to the forums so the possibility that they will transfer later (after new servers are inculded as origins) is also a concern? If this is the case, would it be possible just to "temporarily" consolidate the remaining servers with each other while they are waiting so they at least have each other to play with? That way they don't feel like their subscription fees are being wasted?
  5. If you look at my earlier posts, you'll see that I was supportive of that solution. You guys are in a unique situation and it requires a unique solution. RP guilds can easily exist on regular servers and they can RP among themselves (with the occasional butt-head screwing with your Rp environment)
  6. I've played role-playing games my entire life, and even in online role-playing games. The chief element in Role-Playing is imagination. With that, you can work around anything on an MMO. I've never heard of blaming the game company for "killing RP" because they won't give you chat bubbles, or pre-oraganized "events", and especially not because of a lack of "naming policy". That's entirely up to the individual. In an RP Scenario, if someone walks up to you with a weird name, you just "react to it" and move on. It doesn't "kill the imagination". Would small things like chat bubbles, being able to sit in chairs, having "star wars-sounding" names and things like that help? Sure... but if the RP community is DEMANDING it in order to keep the RP community active, then in my opinion, the RP community has gotten lazy and deserves to die off. Ever watch Larpers play in a public club? I have to hand it to them, THEY are the true role-players in the RP community. They overcome any obstacle with their imagination.
  7. Stop trying to help people and make the game better for them! Don't you know they define their lives by their suffering?
  8. That was actually a "clone" of Maul.
  9. I would just ignore it. Some people just like conflict. remember that you are in a public forum and people have the option to involve themselves in your conversation. It ends when you stop responding.
  10. This is essentially the crux of the problem. There's no way to resolve the issue for a "SINGULAR" RP server without effectively KILLING the RP aspect of it. You can't merge the server with other countries without creating problems with language barriers or conflicts of "peak times". You can't really merge an RP-PvE server with a regular PvE server without the obvious problems that RP players are going to get with being hassled by non-RP players and destroying the RP environment you may be enjoying. There's no way to offer free transfers to either targeted or non-targeted servers without destroying the ONLY origin server of that type. Granted, there aren't better options (that I'm aware of) and to me, allowing you guys to transfer to a regular server (ie RP PvP to PvP) so you can play on a populated server is your only real solution. You would just have to accept the fact that RP is either dead or going to be REALLY difficult for you now. Famous last words. One of the biggest complaints on PvP servers are the "griefers" that will run around on a low level planet with a high level toon because they think it makes them bad-asses. If you believe they will never meet and it's not an issue, Thumbs up. You have more faith than I.
  11. Not at all, it's a fault of the "inactive" players or the active players that were willing to leave RP behind and re-roll on a populated server. You started with ONE server and still have ONE server. The technique of consolidating (their current "phase") doesn't help you. RP servers are a minority in the MMO community. Nothing wrong with it, just a fact. So since your servers only have 1 server per type/area, there's nowhere to clearly consolidate you in a way that makes everybody happy. There might be a solution that makes YOU happy by transferring you onto a regular PvE or PvP server, but then the ONE RP server becomes more and more dead. It's a rough call, but ultimately, I'm certain they are going to give you the opportunity to move to a regular server there's truly no other option that gives the players the choice to be happy since nobody can invent RP players for you to play with. But the RP community will be paying the price. It's like I keep saying. Your situation is unique. The community team has even directly asked the RP community what the "ideal resolution" for you would be. It's not an easy answer. If they simply transfer you to a more populated server, Bioware will again get the blame for "killing the RP community". But WHY are they fleeing? Every new MMO launch has an initial HYPE phase where everybody hops on at the start and then a few months after, there is an initial percentage (not sure what the average is). Bioware was awre of it and even spoke about it after launch when everybody was getting queues that lasted HOURS because of the Hype. So they were faced with an unanswerable question of adding more servers, KNOWING that the initial drop-off would cause the community to be spread out over multiple low pop servers (which "as it has" would result in many subscriptions being lost due to frustrations) or add additional server to placate the angry mobs who were frustrated with not being able to play the game due to long queues, which also results in lost subscriptions due to frustration. Either way, they were going to lose subscriptions and either way, the OTHER side were going to blame them for "not caring about them". Once again. I didn't blame the active players. It's a crap situation. They haven't resolved it as of yet because they are focused on the initial transfers. Improvements are having results on many of these servers. I would say "be patient" but I know it's the phrase that makes us all want to bang our heads against the monitor. They are trying although they don't have the answer you are looking for at present. If it's not worth it to you, then unsubscribe (I mean this in a helpful way). There's no point in paying for something that isn't worth it to you. If you love the game (as many of us do) and can find someway to play the game that makes it worth $0.50 a day, do it until they resolve your issue. It's kind of a "Schrodinger's Cat" argument, if they haven't told you about it, it doesn't exist. I don't presume to know other than they fact that the Community Team is now asking the RP community what they want them to do for them (Check the Dev Tracker). You could let them know and try to work with each other to get the game where you want it to be. It's still a very young game,
  12. You do know that Joveth isn't doing the transfers, right? He's with the Community team, he just passes info to us from the departments doing the work.
  13. Well... I took a day off from the forums only to come back and see that the tantrums haven't stopped...
  14. Maybe it's just me, but you only accused him of being employed here. I don't know if I would consider that an insult... Let's hug it out... \0/
  15. Whether or not it "should" be able to happen, someone requested that a character be transferred and then logged onto them to play....
  16. ...as he tosses a "complaint grenade" into the room and walks away...
  17. They are trying to fix it. But it's going to take time. What is it that you are wanting to happen right now? Ultimately it's completely up to you if the game is worth waiting for or not. We're ALL paying subs or else we couldn't post in the forums (I believe). There is always the option on un-subbing until the game is where you want it to be. How long it's going to take to implement the other transfers that allow me to go to the server i want to go will make MY decision of whether or not to un-sub until they are available. If it's weeks, I can probably wait. If it's MONTHS, I'll take off and maybe come back then. Since my characters are all on destination servers, this round isn't that beneficial for me. I'm just waiting for it to finish so I can find out how long I have to wait for what I need.
  18. But once again, the "community team" that talks to us are the "middle people" between US and the developers. They don't answer our questions as much as they ask the developers FOR us and then relay the information BACK to us. You're basically asking the people who are working on the transfers to stop what their doing and answer questions about "why it's taking so long". It's the first day, they aren't done. Who knows what's going wrong that they are scrambling to fix and make sure this goes as painless as possible. There IS information out there. Check the DEV Tracker or the stickies, or ask yourr question here. Someone might already know the answer or know where to point you.
  19. They're probably busy, what with this being the first day of transfers and all....
  20. Have you considered JOINING and CONTRIBUTING TO the discussion rather than complaining that the discussion you're NOT having isn't getting any discussion?
  21. So the problem isn't that Bioware is "burying" your post. It's that Bioware is giving EVERYONE their own say and now YOUR post isn't "standing out" in the forum? How is Bioware suppressing discussion by keeping it all in one place? This way, if you have a concern that gets addressed, they don't have to repost the same answer in eighteen different threads. The reason your post gets pushed back is because of multiple pages of "discussion" going on. You HAVE to be kidding me with this...
  22. You're talking about server transfers right now, and we are ALL reading it. So what is being "buried"?
  23. It is in the works. Although they haven't clarified what they are thinking of raising it to.
