  1. I wonder what he defines as high-end, I've never had any issues like he had and I would consider my rig high-end.
  2. BW and Pandemic set aside $300 Million USD for SWTOR so they didnt need EA to launch this game, but from sources inside BW the owners of BW became rich and got top jobs at EA, and I beleive thats enough reason to sell.
  3. You need to understand how the infrastructure behind Internet works if you are going to find who's fault it is. The simple answer tho is that there can be a broken link from you to the server, perhaps your ISP is a smaller ISP that use peering to extend their network, it could be at another small ISP's network then. So my question to you is, what ISP do you use? If you use a Tier 1 ISP you wont have any routing problems as they have several hundreds of thousands of possible routes, while small ISP's only have 2 possible routes.
  4. Better optimized code with better support for parallelism, currently it can handle 8 threads maximum. It would fix many issues, memory leak, long loading times, performance issues, amount of time needed to travel from one planet to another etcetc.
  5. You spend too much time in the game then.
  6. Yes they are in Raid 0 for maximum performance, changing them to using single SSD would not be an improvement for me. And I dont use a pagefile, much faster to let Windows use the RAM instead.
  7. Is everyone really happy with the current situation in the game?
  8. I know it's Sunday, but obviously there are some people working over at EA, so perhaps we can get a comment on this, is it in the calendar already to fix this or is on a planning stage, or have not considered it yet?
  9. No, just no, the XP from warzones needs to stay.
  10. Hi, I would like to request game code optimization because there are huge flaws when it comes to crowded areas, like Ilum PvP when there is 30vs30 or more the FPS drops to rediculous levels while the graphics cards are far from being stressed. I used a GTX 295 before and got 10-20 FPS and I now use SLI GTX 680 and I still see same FPS. I had a chat with a NVidia guy at the GTX 680 launch event, and he said he had seen parts of the code for SWTOR and said it's not optimized, and it was due to BW lacks experience with MMO-coding. I can understand that it's the first MMO, but things need to improve. Then we have the loading times, wich I believe is due to Hero Engine being a singlethreaded engine, heavily modified to support 8 threads, you should instead have made it more adaptive as the hardware in the future will change to more cores running at lower frequency to save power while gaining more instructions per second at the same time. But enough of the future, it seems like the game is singlethreaded when it change between maps, I might be wrong but in that case something is not working as intended, it's not ok to have up to 30sec long loading times. Here's a link to how my system performs, it's the default performance test used. http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3032701
  11. I might maybe not be the best to answer this since I always get the best money can buy, but you should really get the 6850 and even with the 6850 you can expect some heavy graphics latency in certain areas, like in ilum massive pvp. If you keep the 6770 you might see latency in alot more areas as from what I can see it should be around 40-50% slower on average, the higher the resolution you use the more difference there is between those two cards.
  12. This is the definition of stupidity, everything needs to be tested in and out before published, how hard is it to *********** learn something for a change??
  13. You will notice a big FPS difference by disabling the pagefile, especially in The Fleet at the combat section, and in Ilum massive PvP fights. Why dont you just give it a try, it have helped many people in my guild to get playable FPS. But those that use 560ti, dont bother, your FPS will still be 3-4 during the most intensive fights in Ilum.
  14. Nice server event, you managed to get 4 other braindead guys to join your group, congratulations.
  15. Yea, they refuse to listen to the reason to why they lag, and it's not SWTOR, it's their settings in Windows that limits their machines. They can build machines for millions of dollars, but once you rely on caching on a harddrive or a ssd you're going to be capped to the speed of that, wich is extremely slow compared to the speed of RAM. Even with a dualchannel memory CPU your 1600mhz RAM can shuffle 19-20GB/sec of data, on a quadchannel memory CPU your 1600mhz RAM can shuffle 39-40GB/sec. And then you have people that use SLI on machines that are not built to handle true SLI, they spend 1000+ euro on graphicscards without blinking, but they cant get the CPU needed to take advantage of their SLI.
  16. I can only agree, travelling in this game is the worst I've ever seen.
  17. From what I see their machines aint beastly. One of them use a dualchannel RAM CPU what only have 24PCI-E channels and use Crossfire, 16x on one card, 8x on the other card, what a waste when you paid big money on graphics cards. If he instead would use Sandybridge-E he would get 40PCI-E channels and Quadchannel RAM. But yea I get your point, his machine should be able to run any game at high settings without lag, and this game is no different. The difference here is that it seems to write alot to the SSD/HDD, Windows stores a huge cache in the pagefile, and the game is very memory intensive, an hour or two in massive pvp in Ilum and the client is above 3GB allocated RAM. When you disable the pagefile Windows puts the games cache into your RAM and there wont be any stuttering when it's accessing that cache.
  18. Did you not read what I wrote? I said you need 16GB or more to apply the fix I told you guys about, and why do you think you need 16GB or more? For the game? Wrong answer... For Windows to cache into RAM instead of on your HDD/SSD? Correct answer... But if you prefer to have lag and stuttering go ahead and play it the way you already are. And yes 560ti is a lower end card, it have less cuda cores than my old GTX 295, and anyone using a single 560ti will lag in Ilum fights no matter what they do, it simply doesnt have enough teraflops to process everything. In Warzones you dont need much power, it's fights with very few players so I dont understand why you bring them up here. The OP doesnt lag in Warzones, I dont lag in Warzones, dont understand where you got it from.
  19. Do you want to know the reason for the lag? I use a GTX 295 (yep it's old, but I'm waiting for Kepler release. ;p) and I have zero lag in Ilum even when both sides are full and fighting each other. I dont know if has to do with memory bandwith but I use a 3930K wich have quadchannel RAM. But to do what I did you need 16GB RAM or more. I've seen my system use 15GB RAM. I'm not sure what the results would be when you use normal Sandybridge as that one only have dual channel RAM. If you read the above already, disable the pagefile completly, and voila your lag is gone. It doesnt seem to work for people that use lower end graphics cards, like 560ti or similar.
