  1. Oh god, ya, this will be horrible. Also, what are we going to do with credits? Buy cosmetic items, gifts and green consumables? Yay? I guess I will just go on a shopping spree, log in all my characters tonight to transfer my wz comms.
  2. Yes, you'd think by making your existing player base happy that would increase revenue because we talk about the game on social media and whatnot. Well, the only game I speak positively about is the Secret World, because Swtor feels like they are just throwing poop at the wall to see what sticks. For the DVL event, you probably don't want your players saying, I can wait until I am done with this character I was forced to make, which is the state I am in until I hopefully manage to do the 5 EC rounds tonight with my laughably poorly geared trooper.
  3. He better not become a companion, I have HATED Senya ever since she let her daughter go, for this. Woaah, no. A kid that orders 5 planets obliterated cannot be redeemed by a mother's love, god help me it's so freaking stupid.
  4. There is not presently any gear grind in Swtor for players that don't do HM+ content. I created a couple of new alts for DVL like I suspect everyone did, you can do all the story, the FPs and everything else without worrying too much about your gear, and certainly without grinding anything. I just wore the set pieces I had with the exp bonus the whole time from level 1 on my second character. If you want to do HM+ content, you need better gear, for most players, who just alt, or do the odd FP, you don't need anything. This realty isn't going to change. There is already RNG in the HM+ game in that I have done many OPS over my 5 years in game, and not completed a set, but I hardly qualify as a hardcore raider, it's the story that draws me to Swtor, not the mechanics. Should see me swear everytime a bunch of sky troopers drop out of a ceiling while I am trying to advance the story by running down an empty hallway, couple button presses, oooh that was exciting.
  5. Kind of a silly OP, most of us have some kind of connection to a companion, often the first one, but not always. I miss Nadia, she was my consular's BFF and none of the others have grabbed my attention the same way. I do take Vette along now, but damn if I wasn't unhappy that she couldn't use an assault cannon all the time.
  6. Well, I will take another look, I have them all at 550.
  7. It's been in Alpha for about 2 1/3 to 3 years. That's not even a long time for game development of any sort (well, it's long for Bioware, ahem DA2). There is a game there already that you can mostly play, a whole star system to fly around, tons of ships to do that in, a PvE challenge, a PvP melee, Racing and in that solar system you can run around in, you can shoot other players in their ships and with weapons. Squadron 42 they've had all the actors finish up their roles for the first several chapters. So...ya, it's coming out, maybe in a bastardized form, if it comes out in a bastardized form it will leave a large stink out there, but the game looks fantastic, graphically, and there is probably a 20 hour game there if they just hacked together some minor story even at this point. The demotivation to me with regards to swtor was having to set my beloved characters aside to do a flavour of the month run for dvl.
  8. Well, I used to, but then it became clear that it's cheaper to buy the end product than actually craft them (as in the money you could make from either selling mats or buying them to do the crafting), for most everything in the game, so I kind of stopped crafting generally, except for the odd augment. But I don't run ops generally, so I don't have the terrific crafting drops I need to make the best items.
  9. This is what I use my comms for one all my non primary pvp chars. It's pretty cool to have so many guardsmen at the entrances to rooms and such.
  10. I met Superman last night in a FP, terrific. Had the red cape flapping as he leapt off of elevators and hero landed. Pretty cool.
  11. Typically not as adults. However, we really didn't spend that much time with them, how long was it, story wise to cover chapters 1-3? So, I could see it for some. I mean, I didn't romance Nadia, she's a teenager in the original, I want her back because she was my student and my consular's best friend, but I'd rather they made some of the non romanceable companions gay than just make everyone bi.
  12. Ahh, no good excuse as to why I don't have this already, other than I get performance anxiety with regards to jumping in this game (not in real life, where my spacebar appears to actually work before I reach the edge). Does anyone still do this?
  13. Heh, more like video cards never really switched to the tv resolutions. I've never had a problem running my 24 inch monitor at 1920x1280 or my 22s at 1680x1050 on any game ever no matter the video card. I sympathize with people that want to run the game on their tvs though. Check google, update your drivers or roll them back to a version that doesn't have the problem. As far as I know nothing in Swtor has required an update to drivers for like a year, so if you don't mind a slight performance down grade if upgrades were brought in, then feel free to roll back. I know for the 900 series of Nvidia it seems most of the updates have been tweaks for specific games lately.
  14. Congrats, Treasure hunting is now the most useless crew skill. You can burn through credits very fast trying to level it quickly. You have to sell all the gifts on the GTN to break even, or make a bit of cash if you get a decent level purple, but damn. How many bots were there? Were they the ones wrecking the economy? Is that why certain things on my server cost 70 million? Wouldn't it have been better to destroy the farmers by making every package available all the time or something?
  15. The story worked really well for my LS Consular as well. It's on rails though, as is every story in the game, so being DS gets you the same results I would guess, but the LS story has better flow to it. They still use the boss fight, crushing boss super fast, boss comes up with some god ability to throw you down while the boss twitters how fantastic they are thing, that every RPG has used for so long now that I kind of laugh every time it happens now. So, be prepared for that.
  16. I like the taxis, I'd hate them if I had to do anything, but for now, I like panning the camera around and looking at things, I often take a taxi instead of using quick travel even, just for that reason.
  17. I thought it was a running gag, so I've said that when we wiped continually, and I am not in a guild, just to see if anyone is paying attention. Still, it doesn't happen often, just when the game puts too many of one type in an instance or something. I had to do some pretty ghetto healing on my trooper in one phase (don't have the field respec on my dvl characters, they are just one and doners). You can't blame people for leaving when they do most of the time, and frankly, if they are the impatient type who cares if they leave or what excuse they give, I'd rather have them leave anyway. Nobody believes guild needs me, but that could also be short hand for guild is putting an op together, and this fp is taking too long, so ya, sorry, I want to go, but most people are not even that polite online, so guild needs me is shorthand for that perhaps. In any case, if someone doesn't want to be there, chances are you don't want them there anyway.
  18. I am pretty much just doing the daily on my present event character, so doing 2 per day. We won an Alderaan last night quite handily, holding 2 turrets the entire time. I was protecting West until I got killed, and then went to Center (West was covered by someone who had come to save the turret). 3 Players were responding to calls to the turret and it's important to congratulate the whole team at the end of the day and provide positive reinforcement, so yes, you say things like, nice response times, terrific group and so on, hoping that some of the non responders will internalize that. If a healer is doing a nice job, even if in a losing cause, give some positive reinforcement it might mean they keep coming back if they were on the fence. Still, I am around 50% so far, give or take a win or loss, so I think the sub 65s are doing okay, at least around 6 pm pacific time.
  19. Is this one of the ones we have to do to get the companion? That's the only reason I am even playing the event, I had all my characters already, but I don't mind replaying the story, still I'd prefer to only do that with 12x class exp, I've done the world quests often enough already. I thought we have to do every FP to get the companion, so if this is a bug I will leave Manaan until last.
  20. Lol, ya, I resolved to only play that content with a character that can effectively kite. Yep, you can't stand toe to toe, the mechanics are not built for melee, and it plays a lot more like PvP, once I realized that I fared a lot better in the content. You can't crush it the same way you do everything else, you need to move and keep moving. I switched to my PvP UI setup, amended it a bit to account for some of the better PvE abilities (heroic moment and such), and saved it as a third UI setup. It's better. That was with my consular. My trooper, well, I've always played the game like I was in pvp environment because moving around is more fun anyway. That's my only recommendation to making it a bit easier for people, of course, if you die constantly in pvp or don't understand strafing, have a poor keyboard setup and such, then the only real solution is a level 35+ companion.
  21. Isn't Khem the one that can end up with a woman's voice as well? So, probably not him. Also, Theran comes with a hologram....so ya. Also, neither are romanceable. Ahh, it just sucks, you have no idea how many times I've stood at the recruitment station hovering over Nadia's name...
  22. The only things I've disliked gameplay wise about it are the many Star Fortresses I have to grind through, ughh. Also, I miss Nadia. I can't imagine the story makes a lot of sense for a non force user.
  23. I managed a couple solo kills in my first ever Odessan last night with my level 30ish Commando. Imps were trying to gank people running to objectives, which was me. I had literally no idea what I was doing, but we won handily, and I just patrolled objectives with a few others on my team. It was fun, but crazy. One guy was asking to pass the green, didn't know what he was talking about until he was running away that I had a green icon on my head, whatever the heck it means I don't know, chased him down and passed it. I should probably youtube some vids of it, I wasn't even aware there was a new warzone.
