  1. Both IP's excel at SINGLE player driven RPG's or other styled games. Take the KOTOR series; great single player story and progression, good example of a single player RPG. You can also take the X-Wing vs Tie Fighter games and the Starfleet Academy games ... great space combat (for the time). Try to implement either of these IP's into an MMO ... doesn't work. Why? Too much canon and extended canon. MMO's that do particularly well, usually have their own stories created by the developers and are maintained by them. Blizzard established the Warcraft lore long ago with the original Warcraft series and (pretty much) controlled it since. Rift ... their own story and lore (you could argue it's a copy of WoW). Ultima Online ... their own lore (IP). On and on and on ... When you try to reign in all the different versions of Star Wars and Star Trek, taking into consideration all the books and content written by various authors, it becomes an almost impossible task to appease everyone. MMO's based on these IP"s just don't work.
  2. Duh! You have KOTOR 3 ... you're playing it right now. It's even got some fancy multiplayer stuff built on to it. Enjoy.
  3. ROFL!! Thanks for the laugh, that was a good one. Unsubbed, unistalled and yes ... gave all my stuff to random players on the Black Vulkars server and deleted all my toons. Later SWTOR.
  4. We've come along way since then ... even invented the automobile since then too!
  5. I hate WoW, and the leveling in this game gets really really grindy. So with no argument back to WoW saying it's better ... no, I'm not having fun in this game. I haven't logged on in over a week. The only reason I haven't unsubbed yet is because of the two nights my guild raids, and I consider myself loyal to them (friends from other games/life all that). I have 8 character slots full in this game, all at various levels up to 50. Those same story voice overs and cut scenes are all space-barred through ... so there went however many millions of dollars for vocal and video production - I don't watch it. EDIT: ... and I like grinding, to a degree. Unless it Star Trek Online ...that damn game has even the Koreans sayin "eff that game".
  6. Everything is a grind. You getting up everyday and going to school/work is a grind. Searching through the forums and resurrecting two month old forum posts is a grind ...
  7. You want a player driven economy, play EVE. As for the Oranges vs End-game Gear; you just need to raid out the end game crap, rip out the mod's and place them into your Crit-crafted oranges. Why? Well, first off, you won't look like a tool due to the new armor art set; and secondly, you'll have that wonderful little augment slot in your various Crit-crafted Orange sets to play with too. Oh ... and you'll probably need around 3 or so million credits to rip out the End-game gear mods to place them into your Oranges ... so save your pennies.
  8. We're not asking for "group finder" ... it's a CROSS-server group finder we're looking for. There's a difference. And I really don't care what a group of individuals, picked by BioWare, have to say at a summit.
  9. Oh, thanks for pointing that out; I'll update my original thread. I'm just looking through the forums ... believe what you want.
  10. Take a few minutes and go through the forums. You'll find plenty of low-level characters saying they cannot find groups on their servers due to the population. You're basically telling them to suck it up, wait till their 50 and go do it solo. SOLO. Meaning single, the opposite of group ... the antithesis of community; which is the very thing you're defending by saying "no x-server LFG". Wow ... the irony.
  11. ... the power of Christ compels you ... the power of Christ compels you ... *throws holy water at undead thread
  12. Really?! REALLY?! So, for all the lowbies that want to experience the content of Athiss, Hammer Station and the rest ... are the just S O L? Well, I guess according to you they are. Be careful ... your elitism is showing.
  13. What?! You didn't like the sampling of our gaming peers that we voted on representing the player .... oh wait, BW picked them; that's right.
  14. I fully understand, and most certainly don't need a lesson from you. However, there was a previous thread discussing how the server population was decreasing. Some people referenced the Fleet numbers to prove (or show) their point (which you say, is fine to do); yet, fanboi's came out and said that Fleet numbers are not a valid metric to use. Therefore, if someone talking about decreasing levels cannot use Fleet numbers to show their point (according to the fanboi's) ... then the opposite must be true (in regards to discussions on growth). You are the one not understanding my post.
  15. Again ... all this defense of community in SWTOR; yet, the majority of the servers don't participate in community. There are even posts in the RP section of the forums where people are questioning whether people actually RP in RP servers or not ... really? So, for the select individuals that are dead set against bringing in a x-server LFG tool, stop using the community as your crutch. Just say what it is that really bothers you; you got burned in WoW, or some other game, and now have a bad experience with it. It has nothing to do with SWTOR's community, since it's almost non-existent at this point. Again, just search the forums for all the great posts about how people can't find groups due to low pop's or people just not wanting to group. It's funny how those people would be quick to call hardcore raiders or PvP'ers "elitist" as a way to demean them and insult them ... yet, their actions could also be considered elitist as well. So you don't personally like LFG's ... fine, just say it's your personal preference not to have them. But seriously, get off your "community" soap-box and stop all ready.
  16. If people say you can't use the Fleet Population as a means to judge the dropping population of a server; that means, you cannot use the Fleet Populations as a means to judge the rising population either. Neither provide a valid metric to show "health", only a small observation or sampling at best. This whole thread relies on one person posting their screenshots of the number of players during peak times. What if someone posted a screenshot of fleet with hardly anyone on at peak time? Neither of which is a direct correlation of population. [/Thread]
  17. Can't put much of a group together when there's not a decent amount of people to group with on a server either ... just sayin.
  18. Because a lot of travel works like this in SWTOR; I'll use the typical route of going from Ilum to Belsavis for daily quests. Finish dailies -> (speeder/quick travel to) Ilum start point -> click shuttle door [LOAD SCREEN] -> (appear on Ilum orbital platform) -> run into appropriate hangar and click elevator button -> [LOAD SCREEN] -> run down corridor/airlock to ship door and click door -> [LOAD SCREEN & CINEMATIC] -> appear on ship and run to bridge (get harassed by droid) -> set course for Belsavis and run back to ship door (click to leave) -> [CINEMATIC & LOAD SCREEN] -> appear in Belsavis Orbital Platform docking corridor (run down hallway and click elevator button) -> [LOAD SCREEN] -> appear in Belsavis OP main area -> run to shuttle and click door -> [LOAD SCREEN] -> appear on Belsavis -> run dailies. Typical travel path for getting around in SWTOR where an orbital platform is concerned.
  19. Why do I suddenly have Celine Dion playing in my head ....
  20. Okay ... first off, your title of the post now had Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" ringing in my head. Back to your question; if you need to know what tokens/gifts your companion(s) like, check out either swtor-spy.com or torhead.com for the info. They will tell you which companion likes what better. The more you build up the affection with the companion in question, the more you'll access loyalty quests and convo's.
  21. The game was released at the time it was released for one simple reason ... you ready? Money. /thread.
  22. Funny thing is ... if there are more people that DON"T enjoy this game than DO; and they leave - they very much WILL be missed. You'll stand on your respective fleet and watch the tumbleweeds roll past. Telling players to leave, G T FO, or some other "witty" comment is not how you bolster a player base; nor its community.
  23. Honestly dude ... PvP servers don't do PvP either. You're pretty safe. My main started on Black Vulkars PvP server back in EGA day 1. From then till now (not counting WZ's and Ilum) I've seen/fought/ganked/been ganked by 5 or 6 Republic players. Mostly on Hoth was were I found some 'Pubs and got into for all of 5 minutes, after that ... nada. I'm not going to say re-roll, cause that would really irritate the crap out of me if I have to do it. Nor should you punish yourself because a developer can't implement certain features that the player base is obviously screaming about. It's not your fault and I feel for ya.
