  1. Generally, when p2p games go f2p, the cash shop options etc do not make available anything you do not already get as a paid subscriber other than cosmetic items that do not affect gameplay. Hence if you have no problem continuing to subscribe, you lose nothing. However if money becomes an issue, you can go the a la carte method and pay as little or as much as you desire. LotRO and EQ2 have done a fantastic job of opening the options while keeping both sides even.
  2. Wait like the rest of the players that want server transfers. You're no more or less important than anyone else.
  3. Could test that by going 2 tanks, 1-2 top dps and 4-5 healers and see how the taunts work past three. The mob would certainly live long enough to pass a three taunt threshold. Edit: Thanks for the work done so far, it's been very enlightening.
  4. So basically taunt in this game works similar to that in EQ1, it adds a particular amount of threat rather than simply moving you to the top of the aggro list as most of the more recent games have adopted.
  5. Yes. It needs some work, as every MMO release does, but it hits the mark in what I was looking for. I'm well past the time of working in games and enjoying being entertained by them.
  6. /waves hand This is not the mmo you're looking for.
  7. Yes there are some healthy server populations (/wave Canderous Ordo for one) but there are others that are dismal (/salute The Corsair ). Whatever the reason, good bad or ugly, there are servers that have people that love the game, but are faced with either re-rolling to a populated server or quitting due to the frustration that come swith low populations in a game that places grouping (yes, it's an mmo after all) as the most viable way to improve your character. Heroics (commendations and orange gear) FP's (more orange gear). Tatooine republic side on Corsair .... a dozen people in primetime, same planet, same faction on Ordo ... 50+ people on primetime. It makes a huge difference. Server health directly affects subs which in turn directly affects the game on the whole. Please fix this asap for the good of us all.
  8. We can disarm bombs, repair beacons, droids, speeder routing hardware etc etc etc but we have to pay someone to take the mods out of our own items. Makes perfect sense ~
  9. It's a great idea in theory, however the game has a similar land mass as most other mmo's at launch, the difference here is its spread out amongst several planets which generates the insular feel. The game would have a much different feel if the number of planets were dramatically reduced for launch. Imagine if they'd had the same initial starting planets and then the republic stayed on Coruscant from 10-40, the Empire on DK from 10-40 (with the flashpoints and warzones being exceptions) and then both factions moving on to a final planet for 41-49 with co-factioned zones where both factions are pitted against each other as additional obstructions to completing the quests (with or without the pvp flavor) and the finale to take place on Ilum with both sides struggling to wrest control from each other. The planets then could be developed as planets with a larger feel and your efforts being more local would seem to have a larger effect on something. Just a thought.
  10. Well played sir, well played indeed.
  11. ctl-left mouse button = preview item clt-right mouse button = open modification
  12. So true. I feel your pain sir. "Oh look, a PM" "Hmmm from a mod ... oh yes, I see how rude I was to point out the negative connotation derived from txt-speak and the lack of spelling, punctuation or grammar. Won't happen again sir."
  13. Dear Webster's Dictionary, I have a new submission for the definition of "irony". Please see above. Sincerely, Me.
  14. Your counter stance leads one to believe that your post is sponsored by that snowstorm company. touche!
  15. You'll be fine. It will take a few nights more than likely to get the hang of it, and a week or so to master it, but once you do, you'll never look back. Take your time and you will see it flourish. Good luck.
  16. One of the more well written opinion pieces. The only thing I see as dead horsey is the traveling complaint. Travel is always a time sink in the early life of every mmo out there. As time goes on and expansions come out, most if not all games include short cuts. Despite these time sinks, people still level to cap in less and less time, yet if said time sinks were removed, the mob of cap level players would exponentially rise and the need for more content would also increase. The only way to slow down leveling then is to cut the exp from kills and more importantly, quests and that would kick into effect an even larger poo-storm. Mapping ... where is the sense of exploration etc? Don't YOU, the player, want to explore the world created for you? I suppose that's answered by the number of datacron location websites and youtube videos.
  17. 1. Worlds have static immobile NPCs. 2. Playerbase complains that worlds have no activity, no soul. 3. Devs add pathing to npcs and increase npc count and conversations. 4. Playerbase complains about load times and fps performance loss due to increased and mobile npcs. The game is a backdrop for what YOU do, not the other way around.
  18. Ord Mantell has three heroics as well, all on the Heroic 2+ Island, all easily soloed once you have your companion. Korriban is quick, but it also sucks visually and story-wise compared to Hutta, Ord and Tython.
  19. I made a new character on one of the so called heavy pop servers and what a difference. 90ish people in the beginning two planets, multiple fleet instances ... you can actually do heroic quests without issue.
  20. Currently you can use them to buy mods for your alts and mail them accordingly. Whereas you can't purchase actual equipment this way, you can save the ones your alts collect to actually purchase the gear and mod them from the traded mods.
  21. Even earlier would be Vox raids where we'd toss copper pieces on the ground so people had something on their corpse to allow for a rez (you rezzed or popped at your bind point naked in EQ, all of your gear and coin was sitting on your corpse wherever you died) since that fight could go bad when she'd complete heal herself if your mana draining classes were off or dead. Good times, epic times and terribly missed.
