  1. For all those wondering, yes more Class Story exists in the game files. So does Podracing. So does a warzone based around turrents on Makeb. So does Ziost. So does Yavin IV. So does Sleheyron. So does Bothawui. Just because they PLANNED (or wrote) the content, and got the game ready for it, doesn't mean it will EVER happen. Subscriber numbers dropped off a cliff, the game went from 500+ developers (plus a satellite studio in Singapore making art assets) to about 150. There is no money or staff for class stories chaps.
  2. THERE IS NO MONEY IN THE BANK FOR CLASS STORIES! There's really nothing I can say except that. If you can convince 500,000 of your closest pals to start paying $15 a month for more class story, go ahead. At the moment, they can't afford it with the income they are getting from the game.
  3. How hard is it to understand? There is NO MONEY FOR CLASS STORY. For every hour of class story, they could make FOUR hours of planetary story. Class story is not feasible as long as the game has less than a million subs, and I doubt it'll have more than that anytime soon.
  4. It is accurate. But it is not a planet like Makeb. Think more like Ilum. There will be a short storyline, maybe with some choices, followed by MAYBE a new daily area, and also the entrance to two new raids. But it will be an 'open world' location from what we can gather.
  5. Oh come on there's no characters development in the whole of swtor. It's not like your character changes from one person to another. They remain a doubtless ****** fearless hero throughout.
  6. People have datamined: -Varl -Rakata Prime -Sleheyron -Bothawui -Yavin IV -Ziost This does not mean these are happening. When SWTOR was released, more than 500 people were working on the game. Now only 150 people are. It's important to remember that some of this content may NEVER happen, and even if it does it could be years away, and in a very different form. It is clear from writer tweets etc. that more class content was written. Base game writing was completed in 2009/2010 and yet these 8-12 writers were working on the game until mid 2012. But just because they wrote the dialogue, doesn't mean the cutscenes will be designed and the missions actually built. Class stories are just too expensive. Unless the game gains lots of players and they can hire more devs, more story is unlikely.
  7. I, like many people in this thread, got Mira's outfit. And it looked pretty cool. I even TRIED SOME ACTUAL DYES ON IT in the preview window and they came up. Yeah, so I didn't think to recheck if it had a dye slot, and that was dumb, but still. There's really no reason not to do this. I didn't want to use this outfit to respect the memory of some character from a 9-year-old game. I wanted to use it because I thought it would look cool when dyed. Please let us dye Lore Outfits. You can already Unify them anyway!
  8. OR he could mean that they will hire new people to make new MMOs. Kind of like Bioware Edmonton made Mass Effect AND Dragon Age.
  9. The best thing about all the gameplay footage released so far has to be the clearly higher quality cutscenes that the expansion has. Compared to something like Mass Effect, even though the core storytelling isn't much different, the game is far more immersive because objects exist, people actually TOUCH the things they're holding, buildings collapse around you, and cutscenes are not just static. Compare that to SWTOR, where almost all cutscenes are just higher conversations. Even the 'landing/leaving a planet' cutscenes are of a significantly higher quality in ME3, despite the fact that it only came out three months after SWTOR. ROTHC looks to change this. From the ship landing, to the building falling down in front of you, to the skyhook and the 'jumping on a car on Nar Shaddaa' bit, it looks like you've really improved. I just want to say that I've noticed, and it looks amazing. Thanks
  10. Looks incredible. Is that a mission involving jumping onto a moving skycar on Nar Shaddaa? Aiming a gun on Makeb? .....
  11. Is the 'big new system' achievements? It's got to be bigger than that, right? right? right?
  12. One thing I'm always surprised by (and have been again) is the massive difference in terms of graphical quality, between operations and planets. With planets we expect boring, wide open 'mob fields' with few visual touches or unique moments. This is despite the fact we spend a dozen hours or more on some of the later worlds. Operations are only 3 hours long (if that) and they look so much better. Even more so, many MORE players do planets than operations (obviously, since unless you level by PVP you have to do one to do the other) so it doesn't even make sense. BW, please put some love into story areas from now on, not just operations
  13. Yeah, in reality a war fought across the galaxy would require an army of tens of billions of soldiers. the problem is that depicting an army, let alone a civilization, on that sort of scale is very challenging.
  14. One must consider that the economy isn't like it is on Earth today, it's on a far far larger scale. Even if the galaxy at large was experiencing near-total economic collapse, there could still be thousands of prosperous worlds. War doesn't affect the galaxy as much either. For example, if all of Europe was engulfed by war, many resources only available from there would no longer be available, something like 10% of all land in the world (or whatever it is) would be unusable. In SW, on the other hand, there are millions (I believe) of inhabitable and arable worlds. Humans can survive on almost all of them. Therefore war flaring up in a few hotspots isn't a huge problem for the majority of the galaxy, in which there is no fighting. Essentially, when the theatre of war is so big, battles can be fought only in a few specific places in the galaxy, the rest is left untouched. Therefore, while perhaps the Republic Government itself is suffering from lack of money, the citizens in it are not, unless they find themselves on a war-torn planet.
  15. Perhaps it would be worth providing some kind of summary on the site, or in video (maybe even a Gnost Dural, but that's probably wishful thinking) before the expansion that informs players of the state of the galaxy, who may not have played the Operations or don't have multiple level 50 characters on opposite factions.
  16. Looks like a proper expansion, at least in terms of world size.\ Love the new environments. The palace looked great, the volcano/engine thing was cool, the mesas and of course the giant armored sky-ship was incredible. I can't wait to enjoy the storyline.
  17. If you have a GTX580 and are getting 20FPS you must be majorly bottlenecked or there's a problem with your installation or something. I have a 570 and get 60+ FPS on the fleet at absolute max, standing in the crowd of 60 people by the bank machine or the GTN. I just checked again actually, I have a number of screenshots with my FPS meter on.
  18. Definitely Doc. Mostly, as a male playing a female character, the storylines really are quite ridiculous. The male romance options are poor, cliche, and generally bad, and you really get the feeling they were written by guys with no idea how to write romances from a female perspective (which to be fair neither, of course, could I). Doc, however, is hilarious. I think as a guy (and I'm sure as a woman too) you laugh at the hilarity and cheesiness of his pick up lines, but as you continue along the storyline he turns into a really interesting character. Rejecting him at the very end, in order to not get dark side points, was really sad, and I actually felt a pang of sadness, which is quite rare and rather weird if you think about it (but shows you how great the writing was) when he said "by the way, I would have made a great husband". -----
  19. Red Eclipse: 8.5/10 This is NOWHERE near as bad as other people are saying, at least on Republic side. Everyone I've met has been friendly, everyone in the political/religious debates we've had on the server has always sided against the bigots, and I always get invited to great groups with friendly people. As soon as I say "hi" when I enter an ops group, other people do too, and ALL the questions I've ever asked on the fleet have been met by polite, prompt and helpful replies. Overall, an absolutely OUTSTANDING server that I am proud to be part of. Of course there are some bad apples, there always are, but compared to GW2, Red Eclipse is fantastic.
  20. With regards to the endgame gear comments, I think it's safe to say that "Dread Guard" will be the new 'Tier 1' that's gained from level 55 HM flashpoints and potentially Makeb planet commendations too. So if you have full Dread Guard, you won't be replacing it with level 53 greens, but it won't be the best of the best anymore.
  21. The problem is that some companions are really great. I think Doc, for example, is fantastic. His choices and romance if you're playing a female JK are great. Similarly, Mako is nice for the Bounty Hunter. She has her own mysterious past to uncover, and knowing her from levels 1-50 really made me feel like we had been on an adventure together, from small time bounty hunters to some of the most important people in the galaxy. But other companions are much worse. People like Skadge or Sgt. Rusk, for example, feel like they're there only to fill out the five slots. They're not really developed and you don't really care about them. ----------- I think a better idea would be this. One 'Main' companion for each class. This is your first companion and UNIQUE to your storyline. Someone like Khem, Mako, or Kira, that only your class could have without some major handwaving. Then, instead of 16 companions per faction, having 7 or 8. Let the player recruit them at will, so they may end up with 9 companions or only 5, but it would be their choice. And then, make those companions twice as deep as they are now. ----------- Alas, the game has already been made. But if we do get more companions in the future, I hope they'll be deeper than the ones we have now.
  22. No one would wear the slave-girl outfit into a brutal game of team vs. team fighting to the death, but people wear them in Huttball, so I think this is acceptable. After all, it's not like making a black skinsuit with glowing red lights is BEYOND the technology level for this time, is it?
